This place is a far cry from a burger joint. Any place that has to add to the meat is nothing quality. Everyone talks about this place like its something great but its the location not the food or service. If you really want a great

I recently went to dumont and like always ordered the chickpea burger with the tzatziki and what a huge dissapointment. I was told by the waitress when I called back to ask if they had changed chefs and she said yes and also metioned that I wasn't the first person to place such a complaint and she asked me if I wanted the owner to call me back to ask me what was wrong....still waiting...Way to follow thru!!

Pros: not sure

Cons: the choices for vegetarians is gone

Great flavor, so affordable, and you don't have to wait 20 minutes for a table like over at Diner. Burgers tend to arrive more well-done than I request, but it's still incredible. A million times better than Anytime, food arrives fresh, hot, and fries are crisp.

I am not a foodie but I know a good burger. Paul's Da Burger Joint in Manhattan, Jackson Hole in Queens, Shake Shack in Gramercy Park, Corner Bistro in the Village, all qualify as being a good place for grabbing a really good burger. Today, I tried DuMont Burger and I was not just dissatisfied, but just plain mad.

I think a $15 dollar cheeseburger should be big, tasty, well seasoned and something to talk positive about. Not the case with Dumont Burger. I ordered a medium well cheeseburger with french fries, that's all. When I got my order, I found the burger was small compared to others I have eaten, it came well done instead of what I ordered, in fact a little burnt, and had wilted lettuce on the side for toppings. Now to be fair, the french fries were very good, and the pickles were sweet but tangy, but that was it.

DuMont Burger is just another establishment in Williamsburg where the food is overpriced for what you get and not that good at all.

If you simply must stay in Brooklyn for a burger, try Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I personally suggest Paul's for just the burger and go a couple of doors down to the Belgium fries spot (Pommes Frites) for some fries and your choice of dipping sauces. Trust me, you come out better with money in your pocket and a better choice of a burger and fries here than at DuMont Burger.

We showed up towards the end of the night (it was after midnight and one of the few open places we could find), so that might have something to do with how long we had to wait. We got our burgers medium, but it seemed to take an age for them to arrive. In the meantime, though, we enjoyed some good music and some reasonably priced Brooklyn beers. There aren't any proper tables, just stool seating at the bar or counters around the room, which is small, but wasn't too cramped because there weren't a ton of people there. We both would have preferred a table. The bartender was also our server, and he was attentive and very nice--he gave us free drinks because we were there late and he felt generous. The burger was really good, with a lot of cheese selections (gruyere was delicious) available. The onion rings on the side were a great complement, possibly made with a beer batter (we're not sure) but really good. Definitely a good spot to dive in for a quick late night meal. As a side note, I tried to write that the onion rings "h i t" the spot, but apparently that is an inappropriate word. What's up CitySearch?

Cons: Stool seating, cramped eating area

My fiance and I attempted to go on a Saturday night around 8:00 and the hostess told us the wait would be around 20 minutes, so 20 minutes later, we checked on our status and she said, 'oh, it won't be long...about 20 minutes". We decided to come back another time. So we did, on another Saturday at around 6:30 and the place was empty. We were excited! We sat at the bar that had a bartender and ordered quickly (two burgers, medium, one with salad and one with fries - I loved that they offer salad or fries...they seemed to know their customer) and then we waited...and waited...for about 25 minutes. When the burgers finally arrived we were famished and started eating...my burger was very juicy but overcooked and so thick I could barely get my mouth around it. I know this is a personal preference thing, but I prefer a thinner burger (they offer a mini-5 oz size...if there's a next time I will order that instead, and medium-rare.) The meat was very good quality, and the pickle slices sweet and interesting-tasting...I couldn't place what was in the salad dressing but that was the only thing that knocked my socks off. While I hate it whenever I can't identify a flavor in something, I was very impressed...the greens were very fresh and was the perfect accompaniment to the giant burger. The fries were a tad greasy but were crisp and fresh. We shall continue our quest for the 'best burger in NYC' as this just wasn't it. I will say that I love the main restaurant, Dumont, and this shouldn't overshadow any opinions of the food there.

Pros: who doesn't like a burger?, salad or fries option

Cons: doesn't live up to expectations as the word 'burger' is in the name, small and cramped

.

I think my expectations were too high, but the burgers at Dumont Burger were very disappointing. Greasy as hell, and mine smelled faintly of fish (not sure why, but there is fish sandwich on the menu). The accompanying salad was so salty I couldn't eat it. The fries were good though, fat and crispy. Service was fine, but it was very cold in the restaurant, kind of uncomfortably cold. And thats because it's currently cold outside, but the place seems to have no heat and no insulation.

The place doesn't measure up to regular Dumont or Dressler.

I hate that I'm even doing this, but it has to be done. I was a regular here. I love the food at Dumont Burger. Yummy, fun, filling, comforting. But their staff is a complete waste!!! The last two times I went in there (on random weekday afternoons when maybe 4 other people were there) and I couldn't get service. The waitress/bartender KNEW I was there. I asked for the menu (wanted to try something different), never got one. Asked for a beer, never came. Lazy, useless waitstaff. This is too bad because this should be a gem in Williamsburg. Same goes for their restaurant Dumont. Prententious and annoying - and this place doesn't deserve to be like that. Man, make people feel welcome. You lost so many customers (all my friends and hey, I have lots) because of bad service. Get with the program or you'll be closed in a year. It took me a long long time to write this, but I'm only doing it because, well, I'm mad. I really want these places to do well.

I love Dumont Burger. Let me say it again. I love Dumont Burger. It is a cozy, simple space that serves consistently good bar food. The beef burger is thick and juicy, placed on toasted ciabatta buns, and comes with a pile of fries or green salad. The vegetarian burger kind of reminds me of a falafel and is also delicious. I tend to have the beef burger when I go, but it's very hard to resist their mac and cheese which is fantastic.

Pros: Burgers

Dumont serves good burgers and cooks them precisely to your specifications (a well-done burger leans on the burnt side) but lacks in just about everything else. Though the burger is good, the fries are not thick cut and are a bit oily.

My biggest gripe is the space and seating arrangements, which is practically non-existent. If you?re seeking a relaxed, comfortable setting to be with friends, this is definitely not the place. Seating includes uncomfortable stools along the bar and/or the benches in the main space, which is so tiny. It?s a bit unorthodox watching a waitress walk around taking orders in a place so small with no tables.

Dumont Burger is not a restaurant but a small bar with a kitchen. There are many more places that can offer just as good a burger that are more comfortable with nicer decor.

I've been to Dumont Burger on several occasions, and have always been a big fan of the food and the decor, but after a number of really bad delivery experiences I think I have to call it quits. The other night the order we placed took well over an hour (okay, we had been warned that it could take an hour, but still...why an hour for a couple of burgers?) and by the time the food arrived it was ICY cold. Which is not how I like my french fries. I think you know what I mean. When I called to complain, the response I got was "Well, what do you expect? It's cold outside." Seriously? How about not sending the poor delivery guy out walking with eight (count 'em, e-i-g-h-t) uninsulated orders on a night when it's 15 degrees outside. And the reply from the guy on the phone (or lack thereof) was lousy. Not a credit, not an offer to re-deliver...nothing. I can't believe that the chef or the owner would want to offer their normally delicious product under such crappy conditions. I can't patronize a place that doesn't value its customers.

Cons: Lousy attitude, bad delivery service, long waits at restaurant...basically only call for pick up!

burgers are overpriced but great, HOWEVER, the wait is SO long that it is just NOT WORTH IT. i have been there 3 times, and have had to wait for a burger for an average of over 30 minutes - for a burger! and this is their specialty! last time, i was there, i was ready to jump into the kitchen and give the cook a hand flipping those burgers. there were only 5 other people at the restaurant when i walked in and i still had to wait (about 45 minutes this last time!). again, their burgers are great - superb, i would say - but definitely NOT worth the excruciating wait. $10 and 45 minutes later, and you somehow feel like you've been robbed. the place seems to be riding the coattails of bedford avenue cool. i, for one, will never go in there again.

Great burger - particularly like the mini; delicious mac and cheese (too big a portion); good Boston Bibb salad and a very solid apple crumble. Bottom line: the menu is simple, the place is tiny (maybe seats 40 on stools?), the folks are friendly and the owners know what they are doing. Enjoy this spot.
