I just cannot believe how Priscilla of Boston let those people work at their shop! Those who work there are the worst I ever had to deal with! Sure, i still got my dress and veil there because I just adore their dresses but the nightmare

I've actually never written a review for anything in my life ever, but this salon is so heinous that I felt compelled to comment. I'm easygoing and deferential to a flaw, and I went bridal dress shopping along with my mother and bridesmaids, who are pretty much the same way. We were about 20 mins late for our appointment, due to ridiculous (even for NYC) traffic. I called to say we were going to be late. When we got there, we had to wait about 10 mins for our consultant, Audrey, to appear. As soon as we got in, she started rushing us--which would have been fine, I totally get that we were late so my appointment is going to be cut short--but she was just extremely rude and actually yelled at us for being late. Then the manager came in and basically yelled at us again for being late, all while we were still not asking for our appointment to be extended at all. They were so rude that my extremely easygoing and deferential mother finally told them off, at which point they started (finally) being (semi)-nice. Add to that, the most intelligent comment our consultant had to make about the dresses was "It has those straps you like". Really? You're a professional and that's the most astute comment you can make about the dress, it has straps? She also refused to bring out the dresses we specifically requested because they were "out of budget" (um, by like $500) and the dresses she picked made no sense and didn't match anything that I told her I liked. Seriously, this place is terrible, DO NOT GO.

2 of my bridesmaids are in NYC, the other 4 live in Texas. In March I brought the 2 bridesmaids that live here and my aunt to our appointment. Our consultant, didnt even seem like a person, she reminded me of "small wonder" (that tv show from the 80's) except small wonder was more like a human and our consultant, more like a robot. She didnt have a clue what she was doing really. Near the end of our visit, said consultant stated, "We are going to have to finish this up, my next appointment is here". Um I'm sorry, Im a hairstylist, and I would be fired if i ever got caught saying that to one of my clients. I asked her what would have happened, if we werent finished and she said Id have to book another appointment. No one tells you your appointment time is only an hour long. Our consultant took all of our measurements, addresses, phone number and email addresses. Everyone signed the papers, saying that the info she wrote down was correct. In April, I went to Texas and took my bridesmaids who live there to the POB store there, where I had a wonderful experience. The consultant was so nice and we were there for 2 hours and never felt rushed! We found the dress that everyone liked and our consultant suggested that we order our dresses out of one store. I had her order them through the new york store so that I could pick them all up once they arrived. ALL of my girls put their deposits down on April 24th. 5 weeks later, I received an email from the consultant stating that one of my bridesmaids had not yet sent in her confirmation on size and info sheet. (which is a lie because i was there when she signed it at the Houston store faxed it over) it took her 5 WEEKS to email me to tell me it had not been received and that the order still had not been placed. NOW, here we are 4 months later. The dresses have just arrived and One of the girls dresses does not fit. She ordered her dress smaller, to save herself from needing alterations because she knows they try to screw you over on that. We called the NYC store to see what we could do about it, and they said nothing could be done. My wedding is in 4 weeks, and they say it takes 5 weeks to get fabric and 9 weeks to get a new dress, which I know is a load of crap. They just want to point fingers and say "we told you so" and have NO interest in helping. (Luckily, we were able to find that Priscilla Of Boston Suburban Square was so understanding and willing to do whatever it took, to get my girl into her dress. LOVE THEM!) Had the consultant not waited 5 weeks to tell me about that fax, there would have been room for error!!!!! With this being said, I had one bridesmaid who just moved to North Carolina and called to have her dress shipped to her. I called her and said "you should call that store and make sure your dress is on its way, I'm having huge problems with them right now. She called on Monday and they assured her, her dress would be in her hands on Thursday. Here it is Sunday. They call her to say her credit card is invalid, only to find out the idiots mistyped the number and her dress has not been sent. SO, they lied! Now, my wedding is three weeks and really don't need to deal with this kind of stuff. If you like dealing with dumb people, and love having unnecessary stress, definitely come to this place. I really still have no clue how they stay in business. They have 2 good reviews on this whole site. Reviews they probably wrote themselves........

Pros: Large selection and pretty dresses

Cons: Staff is RUDE!

.

I paid close to $5000 all-in for my bridal gown, veil, necklace, and alterations. The products are beautiful. But, they did my bustle wrong, and it was a $500 charge just for that. I later learned they did not show me what they should have in the fitting (perhaps deliberate oversight??) so I didn't realize what was wrong until I had shipped it to my wedding in Michigan where they have no stores. We realized 4 days in advance and when we called, the manager Eliana was borderline rude and I felt like she was not even listening. This was a big stress we did not need so close to the wedding. If you like P of B I would look for their dresses at other shops.

Cons: alterations, service

My experience purchasing a bridesmaid gown was absolutely dreadful, from beginning to end. The staff is horrible, inattentive, and downright rude. They know you HAVE to purchase the dress your bride chooses, so why bother trying to make the sale a pleasant experience? I am plus-sized, and as all of us girls know, NONE of these stores have any samples in our size to try. I was measured intentionally loosely, over my clothes, and when I pointed this out, I was told not to worry. The dress came in 3 months later, 3 sizes too big, of course intentionally done so that would have to alter it. When I raised a complaint, the manager re-measured me with an audience, and suggested that I "don't have to get the alterations done here." Thanks, for the permission. I did find a great local alterations place downtown, which was able to salvage the dress for a great price, but I still had to put another $80 into a $300 dress. Insanity. And my slimmer friends are in the same situation, as well. Please, stay away!

Pros: They have modern style bridesmaid dresses, nice colors.

Cons: Absolutely everything else.

The place is nice, they have beautiful gowns but run by incompetent and unprofessional people, starting from the Manager - Irina and the rest of her staff. Nobody picks the phone, you have to call several time before you get to a live person. Because nobody picks up I found out this place is owned by Davids Bridal.

I had horrible experience from this store. First Caitlin - sale consultant (no longer working there) charged my credit card despite my instructions not to charged until I sign the credit slip. They credited me back, that was fine. I remember Caitlin quoted $500++ for alteration. but I was shocked to find out its going to cost me $925. $300 for the hem, $50 to shorten the straps really ridiculous. On top of that, I was just asking for a little bit of a break since I bought my gown, the bridesmaid dresses, and headpiece. Everyone there seamstress, asst. manager and Irina had they same arrogant attitude and I didn't even raised my voice. I just want a little bit of a break.

So my advise to all brides to be, if you like a Priscilla of Boston gown, buy it from Kleinfelds. They are professional and upfront with costs. For instance, alteration at Kleinfelds is flat fee $595.

i was at POB last monday looking for a bridal gown. first of all, i was 45 minutes late for my appointment and yet my consultant, christiane, still gave me her full attention for as long as i wanted. she was so nice, she listened to me, she was helpful and not pushy at all. just down to earth and sweet. i also met the owner who was just as nice. i ended up buying my dream dress at another retailer but i wish they carried it at POB because i would love to have dealt with them. i've been to klienfelds, as well as other upscale salons in NYC and westchester, and Priscila's was by far the nicest salon with the warmest staff. I'd recommend Christiane to any NY bride, she is great.

My friend decided to order her 9 bridesmaid dresses from Priscilla, which were very pretty green dresses (recently bought by David's Bridal & you can tell by the service). We all packed into a crowded room to try on dresses, the heat was 85 degrees, and there were no curtains as I've seen everywhere else. No one has ever picked up the phone there to take our measurements & they're getting a lot of business from us! A month after we were told to send in measurements our associate finally sent a spreadsheet to help us figure out sizing etc - would have been helpful at the beginning but was worthless at the end of the process.
Meghan, our associate, took a full week to call me back despite many messages. Awful service, I don't recommend to any bridal party.

Pros: Nice somewhat affordable dresses

Cons: terrible service

Our bride and bridesmaids were all able to find beautiful dresses here. We chose vineyard style 1502 for bridesmaids and, I think 1403 for the bride. We had to deal with salons in NY, NJ and Ca. I must say, ladies were very nice everywhere but NY. There, they take this rude and arrogant tone with customers which is unbelievable. In my opinion HR management should think about firing all those women and train new ones to be more welcoming

I got sucked in because the bridesmaid dresses were in the color and style I wanted. What a terrible experience. The consultants are rude and unhelpful, not at all respectful of your time or needs. They insisted that my girls all contact them with their sizes, but they rarely return calls or emails, and it took multiple calls, faxes and emails to place a very, very simple order. Even the assistants are disorganized -- they once called my number asking for someone by the consultant's name. Stay away.

I am a recent bride, who had the misfortune of getting her dress from Priscilla of Boston. Priscilla's staff was rude, consdescending, and has absolutely no idea how to measure, fit, or alter a wedding dress. I spent $12,000 on a wedding dress, and it did not fit. It was two sizes too big on the top, and one size too big on the bottom. I still look at my wedding pictures and get upset. I just can't believe that people who claim to be the best in the business could care so little about how their customers look. There is no attention to detail; they could care less if you walk away happy.

On top of being much worse than subpar in their dressmaking skills (my dress didn't fit, my dress BROKE half-way though my wedding and I had to be sown into it), the staff at Priscilla is rude, condescending, and absolutely horrible. My "consultant" Caitlin Brennan was absolutely horrible. Run far, far away from this little girl if you ever have the misfortune of meeting her. The only thing she is good for is accepting her fat commission.

Any bride who has sense will not go to Priscilla. If you have to try one of their dresses, go to a boutique.

Rude and pretentious! The only saving grace here is that these people will soon be humbled by the economic down turn, which will result in a loss of their jobs.

When I called to make an appointment, the woman on the phone was rude and arrogant as if I should give her deference. I'm the customer!! When I went for the sample sale the staff were condscending and tried to humiliate me regarding my size (10). It seems as if this these people are just looking for prey to whom to spout their evils.

Go to Kleinfelds. At least there they treat you with an ounce of dignity when you're willing to spend an obnoxious $5,000 on a dress.

See you in the unemployment line Priscilla...

One of my best friends is getting married and we recently went to the Priscilla store in NYC to pick out bridesmaid dresses. After picking out the dress, the sales woman asked to measure each of us and I thought that each person would be pulled aside and measured in a private setting. Of course not! She made each of us disrobe in front of one another and stand on the little round stage in the middle of the room while she flung her tape measure around my chest, waist and butt. As if the fitting itself wasn't humiliating enough, she THEN went around the room and asked each of us what size we "thought" we were. I am normally a size 4, but she informed me with a smirky grin that my hips qualified me for a size 8! Every other bridesmaid was either a size 0 or 2, so I left the appointment feeling really bad about myself and went home and cried.

I had always loved the Priscilla gowns and had hoped to wear one in my own wedding one day. Needless to say, when I get married I will NOT be giving this snotty bridal salon my business. In fact, I hope that they go out of business! Their sales people have no class or tact and it makes me ill that I had to give them $300+ for the bridesmaid dress. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

PLEASE give your money to a bridal salon that treats people with respect. I would hate for this to happen to another woman.

Side note: I called the store TWICE and asked to speak to a manager, but no one ever returned my phone call.

What a wonderful experience I had at Priscilla of Boston in NYC on West 40th Street in Manhattan. My first visit, which was unplanned, proved to be the visit in which I saw THE DRESS! The salespeople were personable, friendly and accommodating. They asked if I could come back within the hour, as we did enter unannounced; I did and my salesperson, KRISTIN, was absolutely fabulous. She was patient, informative and made the whole dress buying ex such a wonderful one. She did not pressure me at any time. My bridesmaid came with me, then on another visit my mom and grandmother, then on a third visit - Kristin was just as pleasant and helpful as she was the first time. My dress is amazing...from the Platinum collection. Kristin answered all of my questions, attended to my indecisiveness at times - I wanted to 'try' so many dresses, and even helped to 'bustle' the gown so I could get a feel for what it will look like. From providing the perfect veil down to chandelier earrings and crystal accessories for my hair - she strived to help me find the perfect look. On one visit, the actual designer of the dress was there; still no pressure to buy from anyone. I was always greeted with an enthusiastic staff that was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and catered to my every question and or concern. GO TO PRISCILLA OF BOSTON IN NYC if you want to find the most unique, high quality gown accompanied by a fabulous buying/choosing/bridal experience. I DID and my DRESS IS AMAZING. I feel that way every time I tried it on. It's the dress....it surely is the dress.
Thanks to Kristin and to the whole POB staff at the west 4oth street store. Sincerely, JoanneL August 2008.

Cons: none experienced

My experience could not have been any WORSE. After being measured for my bridesmaid dress I asked them to order me the next size up. They refused and said it would be way to big. Turns out that when the dress cam ein it was so tight that it looked like i had a spare tire around my waist and they had the nerve to ask me if i had gained weight (I have a personal trainer 3 times a week and did not gain a thing). they pretty much said that there was nothing that they could do. After leaving their in tears, I took it upon myself to try to locate a larger size dress somewhere else. Prisicilla of Boston eventually found me a dress2 sizes larger. They then tried to rectify the situation by not charging for alterations. The dress fell apart as soon as I put it on and I had to take a it an outside seamstress to fix the rouching. The night of my sisters wedding the opposite rouching opened up and the boning broke through the material and dug into me. Not to mention that there was an uneven seam write under my chest area. OVERALL THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AS THEY BLAMED ME FOR THE DRESS NOT FITTING AND THE ALTERATIONS WERE DONE CARELESSLY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HORRIBLE SHOP TO ANYONE!!!! BEWARE OF THE RUDE, CARELESS, AND INCONSIDERATE STAFF!

Melissa Sweet/PoB bridesmaid dresses are a complete and utter rip off. For $300 one would expect a pretty dress with quality fabric and good service...this place does not offer any of that. I had to get a bridesmaid dress for a friend's wedding here and I truly hate this dress. The full lining of the dress is polyester, making the dress stiff and uncomfortable . You have to purchase their stock sizes and pay to get them altered (standard procedure) but because of the poor workmanship and crappy fabric of the dress to begin with, there's really no way to salvage it. The dress is short and summery, but the polyester does not breathe. I dread having to wear to wear this dress. And I certainly will never wear it again, despite the fairly decent design. PoB has totally inflexible hours for appointments as well, making it really difficult to get alterations done there. Overall, I would never never recommend dresses from this place. Totally overpriced for the cheap looking dresses they offer. Go elsewhere!

I bought my wedding gown from here. The sales assistant who helped me on both occasions when I came to try on dresses was really helpful and pleasant. Both times, I didn't feel rushed or pressurized into buying, in fact overall it was pretty relaxing.
After trying on dresses in other stores I came back here and decided to buy one of the gowns that I'd tried on my first visit. The dress arrived in store when they said it would (about 3 months later).
Each of the fittings went well - I went for several and the seamstress was very good with excellent attention to detail and really wanted to make everything just right. Again, I never felt rushed or that I was being picky or fussy - they were very patient and genuinely seemed to want to make me look my best. They charge a set fee for alterations and I feel that I got my money's worth in this regard.
The store itself is clean, has spacious fitting rooms and feels kind of luxurious and intimate. It opened in 2007 so still has that quite new feel about it. It felt a lot more personal and special than some of the other stores I went to. All in all, my dress buying experience went very smoothly and I was really pleased with my gown.

Pros: Pretty dresses, good service, good ambience

Cons: Not a massive selection of gowns

The first time I came here I was treated very well and purchased my wedding dress. The woman who helped me was bubbly, fun, and very helpful. The second time, I brought my maid of honor to find her a dress and I felt as though we were treated like children playing dress up (though she purchased her dress for $250). I had to request that she help us with the gowns, she had a very negative attitude, and it was as though she were doing us a favor. I believe her name was Kate. I had second thoughts about buying any more dresses from them. The floor is nicely laid-out, clean, and I was very happy with my first consultation. However, this woman really soured me on the Melissa Sweet experience. I will request that she not be involved in my fittings.

Pros: love my wedding gown, initially good service, nice space

Cons: a few surly workers
