I was so shocked to see two poor reviews for this deli, I immediately signed up to give it a good one. I used to work down the block from the deli and went there almost every day. The food was always fresh and delicious and various. Their salads are the best and the most fresh in the area.

I just moved further uptown and can't find a deli that is even half as good.

I also enjoyed the staff. They were always friendly and courteous. They didn't speak the greatest English, but it wasn't hard to understand them and they didn't seem to have much trouble understanding me.

Prices are reasonable.

Food Depot customer service needs some work. Most of the people can not understand english and their attitude towards customers is outrageous! Sometimes the food is not fresh and if you are unhappy with your order it is like waiting in line at the DMV. No one wants to help you and will catch a attiude if they have to do it again. On one ocassion they told me they couldn't make my breakfast sandwich because it was almost 11:00 and it was only 10:30. They even had the nerve to tell me if I want breakfast call earlier. The order girl that answers the phone is real nice though she had to make them, make my sandwich she knows me very well and knows I call everyday at the same time and order the same thing. I USE to be a loyal customer, not anymore.

Food Depot customer service needs some work. Most of the people can not understand english and their attitude towards customers is outrageous! DO NOT EAT at Food Depot at 138 5th Ave. The breakfast counter staff is rude and cannot speak or understand English and the owner Matthew is the same way.

They gave me wrong sandwich, I came back after my meeting to return and get a fresh sandwich they handed me back my original old sandwich that had been sitting there for 30min and tried to argue for 10 mins why they wouldn't make me a fresh one even tho it was their BAD by giving me the WRONG sandwich to begin with! Finally they were going to make me a fresh one but then THE COOK DIPPED DOWN WHERE I COULDN'T SEE HIM AND WHO KNOWS WHAT HE DID TO MY FOOD! I basically cancelled my order and got my money back. Smart choice.
