We??re sorry it took us so long to give this place a try! It first opened in the Winter and the inside appeared to be no more than a deli with tables and chairs so we paid little attention. But we passed it each time we headed to the Upper East Side river promenade and one day stopped in for hot coffee and muffin to take with us. The coffee was so excellent that we started to think well of the place. Warmer Spring weather saw more walks to the river and more stops for coffee. The warm weather also brought the emergence of their outdoor caf. For the two of us, Spring also brought a puppy into our lives and a heightened interest in outdoor venues that would allow us to bring her.

Our first dining experience here was delightful. Quick and efficient service, a menu far more extensive than we would have guessed based on the deli-like appearance of the inside and tasty food. We??re partial to the Greek options on the menu but have also tried the typical brunch items with equal pleasure. Of particular note are the French fries. They??re extra crispy, almost as if they??ve been breaded and are some of the best we??ve ever had.

Now, at the end of Summer, we are long-time Sunday regulars. We take our puppy for a walk by the river, over to Carl Schurtz Park to play and then head back for our meal. We time it for a late lunch to ensure an available outdoor table and settle in for a happy, relaxing experience. We dread the arrival of cold weather.

Gracie Cafe is a bright spot on York Avenue where sit down food options are slim. Their menu has something for everyone and the place is popular with locals of every generation - from kids to grandparents and everyone in between. Busy during weekend brunch and when school lets out, but usually you can get a spot without a wait. In the summer there's outdoor seating, and they now serve wine as well, making it a great local destination without the fuss. The owners and staff know their clientele and there are many regulars.

I ordered 2 bialys toasted with peanut butter and they brought me bialys toasted with butter. I called to tell them and they brought me enlish muffins toasted with peanut butter and the delivery guy just told me to throw the bialys with butter away. they dont bother to take your number cause if they did they would have called me to tell me they were bringing english muffins cause they ran out of bialys. however I cant have english muffins, I am allergic to most dairy products, and as a result I became vegan so I cant have any dairy products at all now, and bialys, unlike english muffins, have no dairy products! so I called yet again for them to pick up the food and bring me my money back, the delivery guy asked me for the english muffins and the bialys and wouldnt even hand me the money!! I told him I had already thrown away the bialys like he told me to since he didnt take them earlier, and he insisted on me taking them out of the trash before he gave me my money. he was completely rude and could barely speak english so I couldnt even understand him at first. do not order delivery from them!! the service is horrible even if you eat there and the food is ok, not that good. if you want go there but dont expect much!
