BonJoo's owner does a superb job of blending excellent food, tasteful decor and attentive, friendly service. They also serve the best Lychee Martini I have had in the city. (All their drinks are outstanding.) If you want a good Korean place in the East Village, this is it.

Pros: Ambience, Drinks, Food, Service

My friends and I are regulars at this lovely Korean place. The food is great: a variety of appetizers, infamous Korean BBQ (grills are in a spacious back room with a terrace), long bar with soju-infused cocktails, happy-hour specials for draft beer. Portions are generous and staff is very attentive, quietly whisking away empty plates and refilling water.

Music is never too loud, so patrons can enjoy their conversations. A variety of Korean masks decorate the bar - one of which constantly winks at me in the dim lighting...

Overall: a nice place to come with a small group of friends or on a date. There are no pushy, annoying waiters; tasty Korean food with an occasional fusion dish is good and affordable; same goes for a list of sake/soju/wine available by the glass or bottle. We recommend it.

Even though the atmosphere was cozy and nice. The service was horrible. The waitor got my order wrong and when i told him what he brought was wrong he said something in Korean and was very rude. The waitors by the end of night were all standing and talking in Korean and was not attentive. The food was okay. Most them were too sweet and my Bibimbap was very burnt in the bottom. Overall, it was okay food and HORRIBLE service. I would NOT recommend it.

My wife was referred to this restaurant by a coworker, and what a pleasant surprise we had.
Very nicely decorated with some great food. Loved Kim Mari.
If you are looking for helthy food with sophisticated asian touch, this is the place.

Bonjoo serves the best Korean food I have had in New York. The entire meal from appetizer to entree was delicious. The servers were knowledgable about the menu and attentive to our needs. The restaurant decor is very clean, modern, and comfortable. The bar was well stocked and the drinks were prepared as they should be.
We have now eaten there several times and found the food, service, and total experience to be highly consistent on each visit.
All in all I would rate BonJoo a solid 9 out of a possible 10.
My recommendation - go there and taste Korean food that is as good as you will find in Seoul.
