My friend and I went here Friday night. It was my first time in New York. The bartenders were very wonderful and propmt and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent and I will go back the next time I come to the city.

Went there two weeks ago and the waitress was completely clueless, slow, and rude. My friends and I went the entire meal without being able to order a second round of drinks as our waitress was nowhere to be found. Finally, after about an hour without any contact from her, I had to track down another staff member to get our check. 20 minutes later our check arrived - the waitress was sure to return about 1 minute after that to collect payment, though. My gf wanted to go there a week later so I thought I'd give it a second chance. Different waitress, exact same experience - only this one screwed up the bill (no apologies of course). The sad part is the food is actually pretty good, but due to the rude staff I'll never step foot in that place again.

I went there on a saturday night and asked my girlfriend why it was so slow. In the first 15 minutes we were there we found out why. We walked in and sat at the bar and after several minutes we were rudely tapped by the bouncer, asking to see our IDs. The bartender was a tall bald guy who treated us as if he was doing us a favor by serving us. There was a large party in the dining room and he was having trouble keeping up with making their drinks that he never spoke a word to us. Even to ask us what we were having, he shifted his eyes back and forth at us until we told him. Do not waste your time, there are plenty of other places around!

Pros: Large selection of beers on tap, Good DJ

Cons: Extremely Rude Service

Went there numerous times, and every time the wait staff is rude, slow. We asked the hostess to order, she said she wasn't a waitress, would get ours, and our waitress showed up about 10 minutes later...and the place wasn't even busy. The burgers are good, good sized, however the staff is so terrible and slow, would think twice about going back again.

My collegues like to go to Vertigo afterwork but I think it's better on Fri and Sat nights. The bar is usually filled with groups of chicks on the weekends. I especially like the fact that we never had to wait for our drinks. As soon as we are done, someone comes by with new drinks. Magic. Most of the waitresses are pretty hot -- without being pushy or pretentious which is key. I dont know what they do in the winter but the entire front of the bar is open, so it almost feels like we are outdoors.

Cons: $16 for double vodka sodas

I have been to Vertigo many times, actually almost every friday happy hour and not sure why the negative reviews. The food is good, my favorites are the shrimp flautas and cobb salad, as well as burgers and wings. The hostesses always greet us with a smile and seat us in our usual table, if available. If not, she make sure we're comfy. The purple haze martini is really tasty. Honestly, the only negative thing I have to say is that on some nights, it gets too crowded. If you plan to go with a big group, it's a good idea to make a reservation for the back lounge area.

My friends and I went to Vertigo on a Friday night and had a blast. We chose this as a meeting place since many of us live in the area. It turns out that they have a great happy hour-1/2 priced appetizers and cheap drinks--so we stayed longer than planned. Soon enough, the dj started spinning some really fun tunes and before we knew it, it was midnight. We scratched our original plan to go downtown and we ended up staying at Vertigo the entire night. The waitresses were really friendly and efficient. Drinks were yummy, especially the mango mojitos and lychee martinis. Food was pretty good too. We'll definitely be going back.

My friend and I were in the neighborhood and decided to stop by last Thursday night. Service was slow and it was EXTREMELY COLD inside. I ate dinner with my jacket on, very uncomfortable. The owners and management should really invest in HEAT. The staff was inattentive. Don't waste your time or money going there.

This bar is the worst. They think they have a trendy lounge in the meatpacking district. But it's really just another sucky bar in Murray Hill !! The bar staff are TERRIBLE.

I agree with one of the postings below regarding the service at this bar. REALLY bad. The bar has a good space. The drinks are fine. The food is okay. But the service is terrible. Slow and rude. Typical of a bar that just wants to pack people in at the expense of looking after its customers. Warning: don't block the service area where the wait staff pick up drinks or you will be physically shoved out of the way. Nice.

This is probably the second time that I have ever written a review, and the first time on citisearch, that is how strongly I feel I about this restaurant. Walking into this restaurant which we happened to be walking by, the experience started off okay enough. The hostess was rather nice and seated up promptly even though we were only given one dinner menu for 2 people. Granted that only I said that one of us was having dinner and the other was undecided, that was rather poor judgement. After sitting for about 15 mins. no one has yet to come over to us, another couple was sat next to us, More time goes by, the server (Breanna) finally comes over and goes over to the other couple first!! She finally comes over to us after 20mins!! She then proceeds to take their order, leaves, puts in their oder then came back to us. It took us another 5-10 mins to finally get our drinks, only after my friend tried going to bar to ask for it. When my food finally came, (I had only ordered an entree) the couple next to us was almost done with their entrees and they had a first course! Not to mention, when I asked the busboy for bread, he "tsked" as us as if were were asking him to roll the dough and bake the bread fresh for us himself!! Trust me, the attitude that we got from our server was about that as well. The POOR SERVICE that we recieved from her was just the tip of the ice berg, but I refuse to continue on. I don't believe that there was even a manager present! It was like the inmates running the asylum! Both my collegue and myself are managers of a well known, chic and upscale restaurant in midtown. And we both agreed that that was defintely one of the worst dining experiences ever. I think that I have had better service at Mcdonald's! Needless to say, being in the industry, I still tipped 20%, but if I was a regular guest and got that kind of service and attitude, I would have definitely not have left a tip. The management and owners ready need to take heed!

I don't know how this place got an 8.8 rating???!!! While the waitstaff wasn't rude to my group, they were slow and very stupid.
Every drink that was ordered came back to the tabel wrong and moreover was underpoured and overpriced. The place is far from trendy as the website states. Trendy places do not have several plasma screens playing sports on them. C'mon this place is a glorified pub food watering hole where Murry Hill/Gramercy Park low level account executives and secreteries come to hook up. The food and drinks are an afterthought.

The squash ravioli and white bean chorizo were unique and delicious! Even though Vertigo feels more like an upscale bar than a sit-down restaurant, I'm glad I tried the food because I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was more attentive than most places, and I left feeling quite satisfied.

i started out my night at vertigo for dinner (which was delicious) then just stayed and hung out with some more drinks. The crowd that filtered in was the a great age group and had no pretentious attitude. We ended up staying there all night! It didnt hurt either that the drinks were good and kept on coming. great place for a chill meal with friends or a spot for hanging out with some late night drinks. ill be going back again and again.

I had such a great time there on Friday night. It was packed with people in their twenties and thirties. There was great music and nice strong drinks. Late night I even grabbed a burger and it was awesome too. This club has a great vibe- not one of those stuck up vibes. I can't wait to go back.

I came here for lunch and was immediately impressed with the design... very sleek, very modern. I got a good hamburger, but the service was pretty awful... had to wait FOREVER for drink refills and the check, and no one EVER walked by our table. Pretty irritating, and I probably won't be going back.

I live in the area and Vertigo is by far my favorite place to hang out. Whether I want a romantic dinner with my boyfriend or a fun night out with my girlfriends, I can always find it at Vertigo. Also try their brunch on the weekends, the food is great and its a fun place to people watch (they have huge glass doors that open in the summer.) The food is consistently good (hard to find!) and the service is of equal quality. The staff is friendly and efficient, making Vertigo an overall great place. (their plasma tv's are great to watch games on!)

This lounge doesn't try to be trendy.. the people who come in make it that way. The waitresses are sexy and very tolerant of what they have to deal with as far as those who go in and have a few too many cocktails. The scene is fresh and you can tell the owners put a lot into the place - drastic changes were made! They could use some more girls behind the bar but the one that is usually back there makes drinks faster than anyone I've ever watched, and they're good too! The food is good, nothing you would expect from a bar in the area. Beautiful people and anything you can imagine to drink.. buy enough shots and you may even get to see someone dancing on the bar late at night... ;)

I meet a group of co-workers there for some drinks and ended up staying all night!! It was a fun crowd and the music was good. I ended up grapping some food later into the evening and was pleasantly surprised. The bbq salmon was out of this world and all the appetizers were tasty as well. I would recommend Vertigo as a place to go to with friends or a date- has a good vibe going on!

I went to Vertigo with 8 friends on a Friday night at 1am and it was packed!! But even though there was a huge scene going on we got a table and we even got to order food.. I ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli & my friend ordered the Vertigo Burger -- we were starved and they said they were serving food till 4am -- I was thrilled! The DJ was amazing -- and the Decor was so hot especially with the enorormous bar in the center -- which all the boys loved. I will definetly be going back to Vertigo for happy hour and for late night snacking -- its the perfect all round bar especially because its so gorgeous inside.

Great place to hang, awesome Burgers, great atmosphere. Always come on a Friday to have a few and check out the personalities than perform behind the bar and listen to what the DJ would play next. Rock, Jazz, R&B, House always something different and took requests. People are great and in NYC always have something to say. Service is sometimes a little slow depending how crowed it gets, but the food is worth the wait!!!

I'm disapointed to hear that the previous reviewer had a bad experience at brunch. Maybe Vertigo is just not a brunch place..
I do highly recommend trying the night scene because these girls are awesome! (I unfortunately haven't had a chance to interact with the few guys that work there...) They are absolutely beautiful, fun and efficient...I sometimes sit at the end of the bar so I can hear some of the fun banter that goes between the bartender and the waitresses..I've come accross this particular bartender in a couple NY bars and was pleased to recognize her at vertigo because this girl can pump out drinks faster than anyone I know. There's usually a great crowd and pretty decent music too. So far, I haven't had a bad night here and at this point, even if I did, I'd keep coming back!

bad bad bad. not worth the money or the time. if you just want to go somewhere to waste $ on bad food and service in this lounge w/ new tvs -- then you have found your spot.

not recommended. i went this past sat for brunch, the food was poorly cooked, took a while to come out. there were several flies and we had a bad waitress.

not worth it.

This place is an amazing find. I always get great service at the bar and enjoy my time there. The bartenders are awesome!! They have this really attractive bartender who is not only gorgeous but also knows how to rock that bar. I'm used to walking in to places of this genre and getting great eye candy but horrible service. That certainly has never been the case for me at Vertigo. I have to say though- I wish they'd put another girl back there with her!! Needless to say, I think everyone should give this place a try. On Thurs, fridays and saturdays, the place is filled with an eclectic crowd and there is lot's of fun to be had!!

Vertigo has it all. It's a cool bar without being 'uber-trendy'. It gets a great crowd - diverse and fun (age group is 20s and 30s). The food is great and there is enough space to comfortably enjoy a meal. Or you can just grab a burger at the bar (easily one of the best burgers in the City). The bar staff make sure the drinks flow and the DJ makes sure the atmosphere is always right. This is a NY Lounge with a pub attitude. Cool and classy but without the velvet rope and wankers.

We stumbled across this place on a girls night out, the interior took us by surprise. A cool, sophisticated bar, sexy interior with an amazing opening front. Great food and great bartenders made our night memorable and the sexiest bouncer! (Think his name was Gavin). Really friendly crowd, great place to meet people. Check this place out!!

Pros: scene, food, music

This place has nothing particularly special, except the wall-length windows that open to the street in good weather. Aside from that, the food is good (though more pub-leaning than haute-cuisine) and the environment sterile - I don't know if the place is sure about whether it's a sports bar, restaurant or lounge (too many things kill the feeling). The clientele is mostly local, so if hip is what you're into, it's best to go further downtown.

It's best to early in the week in good weather to relax with a good beer in an open-air setting, with no particularly loud patrons to contend with. And stick to the appetizers.

It was a real "Vertigo" visiting this joint, as the place was a total wannabe trendy hangout but totally average if not mediocre overall. The drinks were fine, the prices were okay, the bartenders were actually cute, but somewhat on the snotty side. At least there wasn't cover during my visit.

I dined here on a weekday with my girlfriend and the service really ruined the whole dining experience. It took forever to get any bread, the food took forever to arrive, the drinks took forever (notice a pattern here?). To top it off, by the end of the meal we were so frustrated with the service that we just wanted to leave but the waitress took (you guessed it) FOREVER to bring us the check. It became ridiculous at one point and my date and I calculated that there were only two waitresses covering the whole dining room, but it doesn't help when the waitress of your section spends her time leaning against the bar and looking around all night. I must say that the atmosphere was cool, but bottom line - take it from me, don't go here.

Thursday nights at Vertigo are great!! Its a good crowd and there is great music and drinks. The staff is exceptionally good looking and always open to having a good time. I definitely recommend getting there early to get a table because they go quite fast.

This bar is awesome...the music, food and cocktails are wonderful. I love the sliding doors so you can feel the breeze as you mingle with the ever-changing crowd who are friendly and attractive. The bartenders are a lot of fun and know how to mix drinks well. I highly recommend it for a date, office party or just to hang out with your buddies.
