The best thing i can say about this place is that the hookahs are great.

Unfortunately the staff is terrible. Guy at the door acts like it's the hottest club in nyc. Seats aren't comfortable and you feel packed in. Get ready to get to

Went here on the advise of a friend on a saturday. Got there at 2am. Guy at the door was a jerk, place was half empty and he wanted to $5 per person to enter (at 2am!). Spoke with a rude manager named Max, and got a small cramped table. Waitress took 20 minutes to take the actual order, and messed it up. (2 hookas, 1 long island, 3 heinekens). 40 minutes after getting there we finally got the order. One of the hookas was very good, the second was just ok. The long island tasted weak. When we asked for the check it took another 20 minutes to get to us, and was incorrect, for some magical reason we were charged for two long islands, and 4 beers. Lo and behold there was also a gratuity included in the check. When we pointed this out to the waitress she stormed off and came back with "Max" the manager/owner. With major attitude he corrected the mistakes. While we were still sitting around waiting for this quagmire to be resolved the lights go on, and other staff grabs our hookahs practically bum rushing us to the bar. The guy at the door actually has the nerve to approach and yell that we didn't pay out bill! - This while we're waiting for it to come back.

Final Verdict: The hookah was good, but considering the terrible service, there are so many better places. Avoid this one.

I went here with two of my friends on a WEDNESDAY. We missed happy hour by maybe 30 minutes, and the price of hookahs TRIPLED to $25. That's not even the worst part, they charged us $5 for bottled water (poland spring!) and $5 for club soda - from the fountain! Ironically, these two non-alcoholic drinks cost as much as my friends beer. This place was the WORST! Seriously, if you miss their happy hour specials it's not worth going, ever. Unless you like paying a million dollars for fountain drinks and water.

I went there a week ago with a couple of my friends, place was somehow busy for saturday night. We ordered our drinks from an extremely rude waitress, seems like she has no idea what customer service is all about. She messed up the order, but the bartender came over to us and straightened it out. To top it all off, our waitress messed up our check, apparently she can't do math. I had to tell her that the bill did not add up! The owner/manager was cocky and very ignorant when I approached him about mistakes on our bill. DO NOT GO THERE! The place is grimy and you will get charged for stuff you did not order! If you want bad service bad music and arrogant owner/manager this is the place!

habibi lounge is a great place to go dancing. their dj took my requests, but was pretty much playing good music on his own. i liked this place because it wasn't as crowded and hectic as a lot of other comparable places that allow dancing in the neighborhood. no bs, just fun. this place could easily make a few small improvements to get a fifth star from me. almost forgot about the belly dancers. super cool. at the end of their set they brought everyone to the center of the lounge to dance with them. had a great time sitting on the couches in the back with my girls. A-

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went there a couple weeks ago on the weekend and i will never go back there ever AGAIN!! the drinks are over priced, they charge you one price at the bar and then you order from a waitress and its a totally different price. The staff is rude and it looks like no one knows what they are doing. The owner max has no idea how to run a bussiness. At the end of the nite my bill was messed up, they charged me for things thta i did not order. The music is not good and over all i did not have a good time. There are so many other nice hooka bars with a better staff and cheaper drinks. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! i will never go there again!!!

The Hookahs are GREAT...Service Is WONDERFUL...and you definately get what you pay for. This lounge is very cozy with a great vibe, friendly atmosphere and great decor. The staff in this place treat you as if you were at home. (to me that is all I ever look for in a place...is to feel comfortable) Friday and Saturday nights you are entertained with a DJ and a Belly dancing show. The music is terrific( DJ is really nice) and the .Dancers are very HOTT and talented. Max is the Owner and is really great with tending to everyone's needs. I strongly recommend to all that this IS the Hot Spot of NYC.

If you are into Cuban music with unfriendly service by waitresses dressing like Mariah Carey (don't get me wrong, I like the singer but she is not the most flattering dresser we know of), over paying bad quality hookah ($25) this is definitely your place. I have been to all the hookah lounges in the NYC, and by far, this place was the worst place ever. Coming from a person who goes hookah lounging three times a week, if this was the only hookah place in the city, I would quit, and that is all I gotta say about this place.

the only reason it was good is that it was a new experience. i had never tried it before. i will admit the decor was nice, but the bar was just too small and not enough seating. the main problem i had was the owner/manager. he offered us a table because we had a big group (about 20). we sit and start looking over the menu. he comes back to tell us that there is a $20 charge per person for sitting at the tables. what?!?! i told him forget it, we're leaving. so he tried to bargain with me (as their culture is known to do). i explained it was a ridiculous amount. his response? "it's new york city. what do you expect?" well, i have been to plenty of bars in the city for a lot cheaper. we ended up staying because it was a friend's birthday party, but he was rude the whole night. the bartender/wait staff were also rude. Their english was so broken, and they had such a heavy accent, that it made it difficult to understand them or for them to understand our group.

i understand they are a specialty bar, but come on. the mixed drinks were upwards $10. all beers were over $7. sorry, i can go to a bigger bar with nicer staff for a lot cheaper. i recommend going just for the hookah if you have never done it. but avoid this bar if you're pinching pennies.

Love Habibi's for what it's *not*. Despite the opium den/harem-decor, black/red motif, Habibi's won't be as cool as it's trying tooth-&-nail to be - and therefore, not as stuffy, pretentious, or full of attitude. Go for yummy drinks, comfy chairs, and a s&xy spot for making out. Go because the staff is old neighborhood (read: pre-gentrification), and the owner, Max, is a giant bear & a sweetie. But don't be fooled by looks & don't go because you want hot, lounge, new East Village & 'tude - you won't find enough snarkiness here for your taste.

Pros: Cool vibe without too-cool 'tude, original + s&xy decor, down-to-earth staff & owner, prime make-out spot

Cons: Forgettable menu, uninspiring tunes

Nice atmosphere, loungy without the normal BS that goes with it. Good food and hokahs. They have a full bar and the staff is very attentive. Good value, not over priced. Good date place or a place to meet your next date. I've done both there.
