Do no be late! I was charged $240p because I missed my appointment and was charged for the service anyway! I drove from Pennsylvania to New York and was stuck in 3 hours of traffic at the Lincoln Tunnel. I called them periodically

Fabulous massage!! Love the ambience. The massage therapist was really great. Perfect amount of pressure. Great technique. Didn't talk when I didn't want to. I loved it, and fell asleep halfway through. I was so relaxed afterward. I love the warm bean pillow too.....I will come back here again and again!!

My friend bought me a gift of facial and massage. I was so excited to have an excuse to branch out and try something new. I have been going to bliss and mario badescu for the longest time and love their treatments, but always wanted to try something new. How unfortunate. Everyone raves about the classes and I desperately hoped spa would meet those standards. Nope. My massage technician was very pleasant and professional, but the massage didn't flow smoothly and I asked for lower back focused on and got upper. But overall she was ok and I did feel a bit relaxed. My facial was horrible. The woman was very pushy for me to purchase treatments and products, each contradicting her previous suggestion. I know my skin and get facials almost every 4 months. It was promising when she started extracting, but she only covered smallest area of the face leaving a ton of blackheads. Gosh. And the worst part, the next day my skin broke out in a rash. I am not making this up, tiny red bumps all over my face, my skin was very itchy. I was very upset. I would never go back.

I take Yin Yoga classes at Exhale both Central Park South and Madison Street locations. I tried the mani-pedi at the central park south location in April 2010. I was quiet disappointed at the products used at Exhale. The technician was fine but having tried mani-pedi at different locations in NYC, the experience was average. I wouldnt try any spa service at this location. It was too cramped and there was no you could relax.

I went to exhale for a relaxing and productive facial...Unfortunately the relaxing part didn't come until it was over and I had cup of tea in the lounge and used a warming neck pillow...Juliet was very sweet and knowledgeable, but her technique was rough and jerky to say the least. I appreciated her strength during the massage part of the facial, but there was no fludity throughout the whole experience and it seemed like whenever she stopped doing something she was futzing around making lots of noise & banging into things. On one hand during the extraction part of the facial I was thinking, this is great she is really getting in there and cleaning out all of my pores..and then I started freaking out because of the force she was using...I was actually concerned that she'd break my nose or my cheek! I've had plenty of facials with extractions before, but I've never been fearful that I'd leave with permanent damage! I literally was too petrified to say something during the extractions...I just wanted it to be over! I might consider going back to exhale for a facial with a different aesthetician because I did enjoy the robes, the tea, the neck pillows...but it was a little loud in the lounge and in the facial room itself...It hasn't been long enough since the facial for me to report on any difference in my skin...I am just hoping the pain & fear was worth it!

i had been a spa member for 5 months. i attended classes 4 - 5 times a week. the showers do not always work. no soap, floors full of scum, scales broken, etc. when i complain the spa manager renee told me i should consider another spa. talk about the lack of professionalism. one time the locker room attendant took my towel from me while i was still getting dressed. i asked him to wait till i was done. he told me "i have to go home" and he took the towel. when i sarcastically said "do what you want" he replied you have no manners. the next day the spa manager renee called me to tell me I was out of line. she was unconcerned about the customer. the locker rooms are not cleaned daily, the front door breaks whenever the winds blows. in the winter this is a problem. spa services are only available till 5. not for the working class! lip service is good, actions speak louder than words. words are plentiful, action non existing.

Pros: exercise teachers are dilergent

Cons: management and facilities are the worst and they want top $

Went here last night for a facial - i had received a gift card for $150. I chose the True facial ($135) however, when i got into the treatment room - the technician told me i "need" a peel - so of course i felt pressured and said yes. The peel was an extra $65 for one coat of product on my face which was removed in 4 minutes - total waste! Then she tried to con me into purchasing an $85 serum on top of it! Although the facial was very relaxing, the upselling annoying me. Felt like i was being taken advantage of. In terms of ambiance - it is lacking. I felt uncomfortable sharing the "Zen room" with men (since we are all in robes) and the room was also very crowded. The exercise classes were very loud as well. Lastly, the front desk staff were very snobbish and had an attitude. Likely will not return.

Do not go to Exhale Central Park South. Although the facial and massage I had was great, the front desk service was horrible and very rude. Also Este who is the group cordinator is the most nasty person I ever spoke too. Exhale should really hire more professional people. I will not be returning to Exhale. And will tell all my friends and who ever I need to never go there as well.

i was looking for a place to do my eyebrows, i had a big problem, i had no shape, tattoo only. when i came to exhale , to the famous eliza's eyes people, i hoped at least to have some recommendations, but i got hurt by comments about my appearance. it was horrible experience.By my lucky chance ,i found somebody else at the salon Mingle, and it happened to be that i got my eyebrows back with the help of people who care and know how to do it.

Exhale occupies a prime location across from Central Park. They offer an extensive menu of services and fitness classes and also have a well-stocked boutique. However, they always seem to be one step behind...too long of a line to check in or out, classes which are overbooked, poor customer service, etc. I have been going to Exhale for some time for brow waxing. I used to see a lovely, thorough, skilled woman named Julia. However, she is no longer with Exhale so last week I saw a woman named Ileana (sp?). It has been four days and I stil have bright red marks between my eye brows and lids. I think she put the wax way too low, as there is a good centimeter between my eye brows and the red archs on my face. I found her to be pushy ("you should dye your eye lashes...you need this eye pencil...what on earth happened HERE?") which I didn't appreciate. I also don't feel like she did a good job--she trimmed my brows post-waxing, leaving some hairs sticking out and others far too short. Especially given the price ($85), I do not recommend Exhale.

She gave a fantastic deep tissue massage. I've been sore from marathon training and pretty much kicking myself for training (well, if I _could_ kick myself) and after the massage I felt 1000% better, looser limbs, a lot less stiff, and that feeling has persisted. I've had other massage therapists and you really can tell Anna knows what she's doing. I'd recommend her to anyone. I had another massage with a guy here before, I forget the name, and it was fine. So if you can't get Anna, the other massage therapists are probably pretty good too.

It would be five stars except they could *definitely* quiet the place down a little. I dunno; soundproofing or something?

The massage was great.
The relaxation room is a bit noisy from the exercise classes next door, but if you don't mind that,
it's a perfectly good spa to receive a good standard spa treatment without the snobbery you would find at fussier competitors.

Skip this noisy, overcrowded place for somewhere else...anywhere else! Terrible massages, painful waxes and a less-than-appealing ambience. Don't even get me started on the filled-to-the-max Core Fusion classes. Even after I was injured as a direct result of the class, they would not refund me the balance I had left (I had bought a package). I have nothing but negative things to say about this place...those who have yet to encounter it--breathe a sign of relief, you've dodged a bullet!

I went to this establishment recently for 60 min of deep tissue massage. It was my first visit, so I did not care who was going to be my massage therapist. I had massage with Anna and can tell you it was the best I ever had so far.... Anna was very profesional and her touch was amazing.....She gave my body exactly what was needed.......Strong, deep yet very enjoyable session I ever had. Way to go Anna, I will be back and recommend all my friends!

I totally agree with the other review about the common areas: Noisy and not very comfortable. I'm a pretty urban type of guy, but there are some places where you just don't want to mingle with the opposite gender, and a spa is one of them! I want to be able to feel comfortable in my bathrobe while I unwind with a cup of tea. I don't want to have to listen to a gaggle of women discussing Brittany's latest plight. ugh.
There was also construction work going on during my visit, with workers yelling back and forth at one another about some electrical fittings.

But at the crux of my experience, there's Paul.
I've had many many massages in my life, in fact I go monthly-- but Paul is one of the best therapists I've ever had. My regular guy left New York and so I've been shopping around for someone new and just happen to stumble on this spa and thankfully found Paul.
I will be back again and again and I only hope that the spa itself gets its act together and realized they are a SPA and not a fitness center: Calm, quiet common areas are important to your clientele.

Exhale is a countrywide chain and unfortunately, they feel like one.
IF you can overlook this, Paul is worth every minute of craziness you'll need to endure in the relaxation area.

I went on a Monday night after work for a 30-minute facial because I had gotten a gift card. I was shocked at how loud and noisy the place was, since the relaxation room must have been next to the yoga/dance/something room. All I could hear was an instructor yelling and the thumping bass of music. Also the relaxation room was almost pitch dark, and was co-ed, so you're lounging around with strange men in bathrobes in the dark. Odd. HOWEVER, when the aestician, Claudia, took me to the facial room, it was quiet and comfortable. She kept trying to get me to upgrade to the hour-long facial and tried to sell me a bunch of products (which I'm sure the owners force all of their employees to do, so probably not entirely her fault), but she did a GREAT job on my face. I looked and felt FABULOUS. I still have enough money left on my gift card for another facial and I will definitely be going back...I just won't expect a relaxing experience. But I know I'll leave with great skin! So it's a toss-up.
Pros: Good treatment, late hours
Cons: Push for sales, not relaxing

I thought I had beautiful skin. For years I had been cleansing with regular soap and water, yet I had no breakouts. I thought I had lucky skin genes, but this weekend I ran into the most
thorough and informative esthetician I have ever worked with. I want to use the adjective
genius. Have I ever received a better facial? No! She extracted my skin for 20 minutes. I had no idea I was so clogged. When she had completed half of my nose, I asked her if I could compare the extracted side against the clogged side. The difference was astounding. The entire time, I felt like I was with someone that I had known for years. I read about her and wanted to try her out and I am so fortunate to have gotten her. I am even going to go back for spa week! Her product and dietary recommendations inspired me to take better care of my skin. When she completed the treatment, my skin was more beautiful than ever! Thanks Red!

Listen to me carefully: STAY AWAY. Especially from Lydia. Wow. I went today and now, sadly, I look like the monster from Goonies. At least in the eybrows. The most humiliating part is that I paid $65.

The front desk is a bunch of bored chicks eating sandwiches.

I went to exhale spa when I got a gift certificate for christmas. While waiting in the "meditation room" for my message, people from the classes kept stomping in to get water and the cleaning woman kept refilling the ice and emptying the trash can next to my chair- NOT relaxing. My message therapist was very nice but it was like he was making it up as he went along- plus, his stomach was growling the whole time which was very distracting not to mention gross. Lastly, I went to pay with my gift cert and they said it wasn't active and if they couldn't figure it out they would charge my credit card! I've only had the gift certificate for 2 months and while they must have made a processing error on the card, they said I had to pay. Not a great way to end a message- by the time I got home I was annoyed, without the balance on my card (they still haven't called me to clear it up) and NOT relaxed. They are amateurs.

I went to exhale as a present from friends. I thought, oh Central Park South, how fancy? Boy was I wrong.
I would not recommend it for spa treatments. While the treatment I had was okay, the overall feel of the place is very busy, loud and not relaxing.
The treatment I had seemed rushed and like they wanted to get a lot of things done TO me in the allotted hour. I had the acu-organ detox massage and it's an hour. it needs at least 90 minutes.
The staff at the front desk was very aloof. They assumed I knew where I was going although I had never been there before and didn't explain procedures regarding towels and robes, which is essential if you have never been to a particular spa before.
As far as spa's are concerned, this place was not meditative or spa like. It was more like a gym. The YWCA is more relaxing.

I have gone to the most luxurious spas in Manhattan, but NEVER have I had a facial like the one I received at Exhale! A friend recommended Red, and I am so happy I tried her facial! She was an absolute genius and her touch was fluid and relaxing. She has a chemistry background, so she assessed my skin care prducts and honestly reviewed them. She knew what works and what was simply hype. This type of knowledge is so RARE and her skin was absolutely flawless! I am a fan and I will follow her where ever she goes!

I have been putting off writing this review for months now... I have bought three massages for friends, and they all said that it was OK... I went on line and read the customer reviews ( they are gone now) and many others had alot of complaints. One day I had the worst back pain, and fiquered since im there, I should just try it and see for myself. I can tell you, it was the WORST, massage I have ever had. Literally, it was horrible. I could barely feel it. I told her where my pain was and it was as if she had no understanding of the muscles, and where to go or what to do. I wish I had listened to the other reviewers....

Pros: beautiful space, great staff, extremely clean

Cons: bad massage, expensive

I tried the enlightening. Masseuse told me that I should book for the thai massage cheaper and almost the same as the enlightening. Masseuse was good, got all my kinks out but talked too much. Steam room was out of order.

five stars! This spa is where I always go when in this part of town; every service I've ever had here was top notch.

This is the best yoga studio I've ever found in Manhattan! The teacher really knew what he was doing and got me to do poses I'd had trouble with before. The spa was great too. I had a facial after class and I swear I look ten years younger. I'm coming back next week with my daughter! Oh, and the free tea was good too.

This is the most amazing yoga/pilates studio I've been to yet! The staff was very friendly and helpful, including the Core Fusion instructor. The environment is relaxing and luxurious.
