My two energetic boys, ages 3 and 5 loved it! We started with a trial class at DanceSport's Made 4 Kids Program. For weeks after they were still talking about the rhymes and showing the rhythms and dance steps they learned. The instructors teach by employing many other forms of poetry and music to teach all the complexities of dance. The kids don't even realize they are learning! They really enjoy their classes and can't wait to go to DanceSport! \n\nI am coming in from New Jersey to work in New York and the midtown location (a block or 2 from Penn Station) makes it really convenient. The energy and at DanceSport is great, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I am always recommending this to my friends! \n\nP.S. The added bonus of being close to Macy's and other great stores means you can drop the kids off and get a little shopping in while they are in class. :-)

My 3 kids can't wait to get to their class at DanceSport Made4Kids. The variety in music and dancing makes them happy and learning more about paying attention to directions, socializing with other children and using their energy by being creative makes me happy! I am so glad that I enrolled them in the program. They always look forward to their next class!

Love the Made4Kids program and so do the children! The variety of music, dancing is fantastic and making new friends is the icing on the cake. I love that they are learning how to be creative and getting better at their interpersonal skills - sharing, listening, following directions. It really builds their confidence and brings them out of their shells. Thank you DanceSport!

If it weren't for Dancsport, I would have never realized just how amazing the Argentine Tango is. I had always wanted to learn...I was initially there for the ballroom dancing, which I find the teaching staff to be really world class in every respect. \r\n The milongas, a.k.a. argentine dance parties, go thru the night and are a blast on satuday nights. I have found this dance studio to have a very unique atmosphere unlike any other I have ever experienced. Its located at the Empire State Building...

When I first moved to New York city all the way from sunny Arizona, I must say after coming to Dancesport and personally meeting the owner Paul Pellicoro, I had no reason to go anywhere else. Its a studio that makes you feel welcome and right at home.\r\n\r\nThis is one of the most unforgetable places I have ever been and if you are a real dancer, your style is definitely done here and the dancing is endless.\r\n\r\nI certainly cannot forget to mention that the drinks are amazing too :-)

This program is just what my husband and I have been looking for. I am an interior decorator and my husband is a musician. Arts are very dear to our hearts. My daughter just turned three, and I cannot wait to have her start the little learners program with Made4Kids. I know she will\nabsolutely love it!

In my country, children start dancing at the age of 3. Until now, i wasn't able to find a program to get my child started in Latin and Ballroom dancing. Thanks to MADE 4 KIDS, we can keep the family legacy going!

Yes, I must say that as a dancer who started at the age of eighteen and having travelled the entire United States, I have found nothing quite like it until now.\r\n\r\nThe studio Paul Pellicoro has created is nothing short of genius. This studio brings togther every different style of partner dancing ever created into one melting pot. With over 9 different ballrooms, and an amazing cafe lounge area I have become a dancsport enthusiast.\r\n\r\nIf you are a dancer at heart, look no further.

I am a parent of two boys, ages 4 and 7. I am so happy to find a program that caters to both ages. Now i don't have to waste so much time in the day schlepping them around to different locations and programs. Now I can pick them up and still make it home in time to make dinner, instead of\nordering take-out!

I was walking to the subway from work two weeks ago and stumbled upon a mob of people doing Zumba right in front of Macy's at Herald Square. Apparently, every Thursday from 6 until 7 pm all summer long, DanceSport is giving FREE classes. I brought my sneakers this week and let me tell you, what a workout, but I had so much fun! The instructor had the best music and I found exercising outside to be really energizing. Especially in New York, how can you say no to free?!

I've been dancing at DanceSport for about two years because the staff and teachers are AMAZING! The management is incredibly professional and very interested in my development as a dancer. My teacher is the Austrian national vice champion in Professional International Latin and I just can't describe the incredible improvements I've made because of her coaching. I highly recommend this studio as the very best New York City has to offer.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote to \r\nDanceSport managment to let them know I was \r\ndisappointed and humiliated by the behavior and disrespect of \r\nBrandon Walker employee of DanceSport. The discourtesy and \r\ndisrespect this individual has shown to multiple students/customers \r\nis unacceptable! \r\ni told them that It distresses me to have to write a message \r\nsuch as this to them, because I was\r\ncertainly hoping and trusting that it will never again be \r\nnecessary, But after coming back from a short vacation and finding \r\nout that this individual continues to be part of DanceSport after the multiple complains, I find \r\nmyself on the necessity of cancelling all my classes and removing \r\nmyself from a studio that does not listen nor respect the complains \r\nof its students/customers.\r\nWe do not see any solution, to a behavior that should not be \r\ntolerated by any Studio! the harrasement of Mr. brandon agains his students

\r\nI have been taking classes here for almost a year. A few weeks ago i had to take my private class with a new instructor and it was a nightmare!! he is worse than a beginner and very unprofessional! Brandon Walker was talking most of the class about him and how beautiful i was. at the end he wanted my phone number. This guy is very pushy and unprofessional; on top of that, he is not even at the level of any other dance instructor that I had a DanceSport. He seems to be there to hook up with girls only, he is an instructor that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! Please DanceSport!!What is going on with the quality of the studio putting people that are less than a beginner to teach??! i will have to go to a different studio\r\n

i started taking classes at this studio a few months ago and the instructors i had so far were awesome and very profesional, until last mont. they have a new instructor Brandon Walker that even though I am a beginner, I felt like the instructor was not a dancer but someone who was trained in a couple months to be a dance instructor. When I asked questions about certain steps the instructor seemed to be unsure about the technique. I would rather pay more to get a better instructor than have someone who is not experienced as a dancer. Asking questions was completely pointless and I just went by the syllabus he created for me, which was probably created for him. It was waste of money. i like the studio and the other instructors but this one"" Brandon Walker"" is very unprofesional! he was more worry about getting my phone number than teaching! my friend took a private class with him as well, and he did the same to her!! this place was my favorite but after dealing with this guy, i am not sure i want to go back. people like him will destroy the good reputation of DanceSport!!!

Dance is the only way to go if you are an athlete looking for seriously fast weight loss and maintaining the muscle protein. Dance Sport is legendary for their great service.

So,\n\nI started dancing here about three months ago. I've been wanting to take ballroom classes for long time and finally worked up the courage to sign up for the classes to train for competition. Long story short, after my first two classes, I signed up for more, submitted my application for work study, found a dance partner, joined the college program and started taking private lessons because I enjoyed it so much. \n\nI've danced in the past, but I knew that ballroom, especially competition, was going to be a new realm. Everyone at the studio was extremely helpful; my first private lesson was great and the teacher was so helpful; she helped me gauge where I stood and what classes to take to improve. Basically, after that point I hit the ground running and the staff and instructors at dancesport were so helpful.

So I was looking for a studio to take my wife so we can learn to dance better together. I liked the fact that they have a party every night. We weren't looking to become professionals, just wanted a few lessons to learn the basics. We have crazy schedules and wanted personal attention so we decided to take some privates. Given that we are beginners I feel like we were paired up with an instructor who teaches beginners only. I felt like the instructor was not a dancer but someone who was trained in a couple months to be a dance instructor. When we asked questions about certain steps the instructor seemed to be unsure about the technique. I would rather pay more to get a better instructor than have someone who is not experienced as a dancer. I am sure there are other instructors that are much better, but because of their willingness to provide an unprofessional teacher I will not be coming back. We found a better studio which is further downtown but worth the trip.

Cons: Some of staff unqualified, management/administration

I admit that I did not know what to expect when I showed up for my free orientation. April DeBock who conducted the class was so friendly and made me feel at ease. I signed up for 1 four group class course initially and am now signed up for private lessons which really help. My instructor, Ron Rosario, is a wonderful and very patient teacher. I am having such a delightful time and now take 3 classes a week. Am trying to convince some family members and co-workers to come join me in the great fun that I'm experiencing. It's also a terrific workout if you need to lower your blood pressure.

I have studied at other studios but I find that DanceSport is my first choice hands down. My teachers really know their stuff! They don't pad the lesson time with chit chat - they teach. The parties are a great way to meet people and the variety of music is fun. I like guest week because I can bring my friends and they can join the practice party with me after their free lesson.

So...I don't know how many of you saw ""Burn the Floor"" while it was on Broadway... but I went to see it this fall and there was one dancer I absolutely could not stop watching, petite curly hair... I did my homework her name is Giselle. She's teaching at Dance Sport now! I took her Jive/ Samba class last Sunday. It is totally worth the price of the lesson just to be dancing in the same room as her... I still can't believe how fast she moves! Sunday was my first time at Dance Sport, the staff was super welcoming and the people really nice... I'm totally going back next week!

I came to DanceSport mostly because it was close to my office. I just moved to the City and I was looking for someplace to continue dancing. DanceSport offers a free orientation class, so I signed up for that as well as their introductory private lesson. You have to take the introductory private lesson! I'm interested in International Standard and Latin and they paired me with the perfect instructor. Tobi is awesome! I've been seeing him once a week for private lessons ever since and I have learned so much! I can't wait to go back to my hometown and show off at my old studio.

I started taking classes this past September and I wish I started sooner. I am loving the class program I am doing and really appreciate the top-notch professional teaching staff they have...I know I'm getting the best lessons for my dollar (Thanks Andrianna and Steve!). If you want to learn how to dance or improve your dancing, this is the place...look no further. I love that the owner is hands on and I've spoken with him. What owner's of companies hang out with their clientele?! Just part of the overall quality of the studio. I've made some new friends since I've been taking classes and love to just chill out by the cafe after class, Dancesport is like a home away from home making everyone feel invited and comfortable. Go get your dance shoes and try it out!

I recently started dancing at DanceSport studio and I really love it! The teachers are excellent and teach very well to help students feel comfortable and learn in a friendly environment. Everyone that I have met - the students and the staff - are nice and put me at ease. I was nervous my first time here, but now I feel like I'm part of a family. Also -a real plus to me is the coffee. They have drip coffee and it is Intelligentsia brand, which is new to me. But I am a coffee lover and this one is so, so good. It's nice to take a little break between or after class and to have a cup (but I'll admit, I've been in the area and have just stopped in for a coffee and not to dance). I highly recommend this school - even if you just come to it to sit in the cafe and watch.

I've been to all the studios in NYC and this one is by far the nicest. 9 separate ballrooms, a full cafe and bar featuring hand brewed coffee and a nice wine selection. The staff is friendly, and the instruction is top notch. I went to check it out when I heard that the cast of Burn the Floor was doing workshops here. There are two entrances to the building and I took the wrong one to begin, so I was a little late. You have to take the East entrance which doesn't seem as prominent as the first entrance I saw.. anyway... I was very impressed with the staff and the space. Plus, the coffee really is amazing... who would think in a dance studio, you can get the best coffee in midtown. Intelligentsia brand coffee that they grind and brew when ordered. No more Starbucks for me. \nGiselle Peacock (from Burn the Floor) left the show after 4 years and chose DanceSport to be her NY home.... It's just a great place to dance. Can't say enough about it... definitely check it out, and see for yourself

I've been to all the studios in NYC and this one is by far the nicest. 9 separate ballrooms, a full cafe and bar featuring hand brewed coffee and a nice wine selection. Pros: Huge space, great cafe, incredible location

Cons: entrance can be tricky to find

The first thing that I noticed when i arrived at Dance Sport was the extremly courteous and helpful staff. You are made to feel as welcome as a member of the family. When I am concerned about the level of difficulty of a class, the teacher will give me a detailed descirption of the material to be covered, as well as what skills I should have before taking the class . \r\nThe studio opened a door to a new world for me! :) I started a new life here. We celebrate all hollidays here. The other students for the most part are quite generouse with their practice time. You always can find good company and simply relax in the Dance Sport Cafe, which has a nice selection of tapas, wines, beers and other... \r\nIf you want to learn to dance and have fun doing it grab your shoes and head to Dance Sport. Oh! You can leave you shoes at home, they sale great shoes here!!!\r\nI am strongly recomend this Studio. :)))

This place is great! Argentine Tango instruction is top-notch...Salsa and everything else too! Definitely worth the investment. It will be your favorite hobby and think when someone asks what you do, you could say that you're a (insert dance) dancer!

Pros: Great instructors, fun people

DanceSport has a great cast of characters all the way from the administrators to the instructors and the patrons who enjoy Paul's (the owner) very inviting parties and events. The studio has become a great part of my life and I always have someone fun to talk to and dance with while I'm there. I train with Jennifer for Argentine tango and she is amazing...but all the Tango instructors are seriously top-notch. For such a difficult and passionate dance, this is very important. I can't vouch for the other instructors since I've never taken classes from them, but the majority of them are very sweet, engaging and very passionate about dancing. Start with group classes until you find a dance you love and then do privates. If you are serious about your dancing, you will get far more from private instruction. \r\n\r\nThis studio and dancing in general come HIGHLY recommended! \r\n

Pros: Great instructors, great environment, fun activities

My wife and I tried this place and were very disappointed. The staff were incompetent and just wanted to get us to sign up for the biggest package. Definitely not worth the money.

I had a horrible time with the administration of this dance studio. They're professional until you request a refund and then they pull every trick in the book to avoid giving you your money back. I booked over $300 in dance classes, but discovered a scheduling conflict and called back (5 minutes later) to get a refund. This was within their cancellation policy, which states money will be refunded if the request is made before classes begin. They transferred me to their supervisor, Lydia, whom I left voice mail after voice mail with describing the reason for canceling and requesting a refund. I called her back 5 times to follow up on my request and never heard back from her. When I spoke to Miguel at the front desk he claimed they reversed the charges but that they didn't know where to reach me (which is suspicious since they have my phone number in their contact list and I left my number on every vmail). It has been several weeks and my charges have still not been reversed. This company does not honor its refund policy, buyer beware!!! \r\n\r\nOtherwise, in the past I've enjoyed the tango teachers at DanceSport, they're very good. If you're looking to meet young people, you should go to the other downtown studios, this one caters to the older crowd. I won't be back after this bad experience.

You pay for what you get. I love the high energy atmosphere. The staff conducts themselves with the utmost professionalism. They are now located on 33rd Street between 5th and 6th Ave., phone remains the same.
