Steven & Francine's is Kowledgeable and Trustworthy

by Jim S.

Knowledgeable and Trustworthy Shop. I recently visited the shop with my BMW and immediately felt very comfortable with them. They spent extra time to find the problem with my cooling system. They checked the rest of my vehicle for free and let me come take a look for myself, no other shop has ever invited me to take a look at anything. Great job and their estimate was exactly what I paid with no hitches. They definitely qualify as professionals in their industry.

Fast and easy

by begtodiffer

I didn't realize my inspection sticker was about to expire until the day before it was up. Of course this was Sunday morning. I did a search and couldn't find a single shop to get an inspection. When I called Steven and Francine's amazingly somone picked up the phone! I was able to make an appointment for first thing the next morning. By noon on Monday I had a brand new inspection sticker! Great place!

Pros: they answer the phone on Sunday!

Cons: not on this experience

Bait and switch

by EldinJ

I own a vintage Mustang and went in to see them a few years ago about doing work on my car. Based on the number of vintage cars they had in the shop, I figured they must know what they're doing if people trust them. After having my car for almost a month and not being able to give me an estimate on the cost, I took the car back.

A couple years down the road, I needed to have a front end alignment and a few other minor repairs done. An original quote of a few hundred dollars turned into well over a thousand. They claimed to need to fix other things which had nothing to do with the alignment and other repairs.

After arguing with them about what they did (and didn't do), they "cut me a deal" and let me go with all their supposed repairs for only $1000. After taking the car on the roadtrip that these repairs were to prepare for, I realized that the alignment was in fact NOT done (because you could visibly see the tires on an angle), and the other repairs were shoddy.

I got ripped off for a thousand dollars. I'll NEVER go back there or recommend anyone else take their car there.

Be warned.

Pros: Will make you feel they can handle your job

Cons: Once they have you on the hook, they will invent problems

Better Service than a dealer

by s799

for the past month or so, i've been hearing a strange noise from the engine and noticed the suv was not handling the same. i brought the vehicle to the dealer and after a hefty bill, the problem was still not solved. a co-worker reccommended Steven and Francine's Complete Auto on 36th street and i decided to give them a shot. i drove in without an appointment, and they took my vehicle in. they were friendly, polite, and accomodating to my schedule( i work unusal hours). not only did they solve my problem, but they were kind enough to explain it to me in laments terms. and the bill was Very reasonable as opposed to the dealer who took my money and did not solve my problem. i would highly reccommend this auto repair shop to everyone!!! The staff was knowledgeable, polite and accomodating. Never again will i use a dealer repair. Steven and Francine's Complete Auto has my business.

Pros: hours of operation, knowledgeable, friendly, clean and state of the art

Cons: none observed

Good experience

by maddy1118

Overall a good expereince. Guys at this place clearly know what they are talking about. Brought my car to the dealer a few months ago for a problem, supposedly they fixed it. Then my car broke down, S&F was the closest shop so I got towed there. These guys were able to CORRECTLY diagnose my car and actualy fix it without breaking my bank. Everyone was nice and I got lots of updates while the car was being diagnosed and repaired. Would definitely bring my car back.

Pros: knowledgeable mechanics

Good Folks and Trust Worthy

by rmsapers

I have been taking my car to S&F's for about three years (old plce in the 60s and new place in the 30's) and have always been met with great service. The folks are always very nice and typically everying gets done in timely and complete fashion. The only downside is that the rates are really not much less than what you would pay at the dealer, but I haven't found their service to be anything less than what I would get at a dealer anyway and it's rarely a problem to get an appointment (which can be a huge plus if you've ever tried getting one at a dealer in the city). I would recommend to anyone needing speedy and efficient service in the city.

Pros: Easy to get and appointment, quick and typically thorough

Cons: Not much cheaper than going to the dealer
