For all their fancy offices and 1000s of ads on Craigslist, CareerGroup is truly the bottom of the barrel. FOUR separate times I went there with set appointments. The first three times I had to leave because they made me wait over an hour -- before I even got to the testing part. The fourth time I had nothing to do that day -- which is obviously Career Group's assumption about the worthlessness of all their candidates' time -- so I decided to stick it out. (CG is the temp agency equivalent of Airborne School, only without any benefits.) Well, that day I was ushered in to see an especially loathesome gum-popper by the name of L*** Drugs. (Name has been changed to protect the guilty.) Strange, because my appointment was with someone named Annie H***. Ms. Drugs (who could certainly use some) met with me inside a room which looked very much like one of the telepods from "The Fly". (In fact, I looked around to make sure there were no insects just in case we were about to be teleported.) (Eeeew, come to think of it: I'd much rather be melded with a housefly than with L*** Drugs.) By the time I was finished checking the telepod for bugs, that was it -- the interview was over! I was told I had a nice resume(15 years in the relevant field), I scored well on the tests(100s), and they would call me. Let's do the math. The first three times I went in I wasted over an hour each before having to leave. 3.5 hours. The fourth visit took over two hours, including the tests, before seeing L***. That's 5-and-a-half hours spent, and the "interview" with the recruiter took about 5-and-a-half minutes. That was two months ago. Since then, I have responded to about 5,000 of their CL ads. Emailed L*** & Annie. Left voicemails. Nothing. Nada.

Putting it mildly, Career Group is scum. And scum rhymes(sorta) with SCAM.

Pros: They don't shoot you as you leave

Cons: Everything else

.

These people will meet with anyone if you are not already in their system. Remember, if you do not land a job, they do not get paid. So when a client calls them, they have to have like100 candidates already screened, in their system, and ready to contact to land that person in the job before some other company does, if client is not an exclusive client.

They do not respond to phonecalls and emails and you are just another resume to them. They have no clue what you are looking for career wise and do not care. Why the hell anybody uses them and pays them their huge fees is beyond me. Come on companies, wake up and find candidates yourself instead of relying on these headhunters/agencies who only care about getting paid and not your needs or the worker's needs!
