I have been going to Ben's Deli for quite a few yeras now, but not on a regular basis. Therefore, it is really easy to see how they have changed over the years. My most recent visit was 3/14/2011 and I must say that it was totally disappointing.

Except for the chicken noodle soup everything was of poor quality and tasted like cardboard. Even the pastrami was poorly done - now how can a kosher deli manage to screw up pastrami? Ben's figured it out though. Not only was the pastrami bad, the bread the sandwhich was made with was lackluster and pasty.

The stuffed derma, a deli staple, was slathered with an unrecognizable sauce that had the consistancy of wallpaper paste, it was inedible!

Bottom line; say b'bye to Ben's - they are not even a shadow of their former self.

We like going to Ben's. I usually like to eat their barbecue chicken, with 2 sides. Their noodle pudding is delicious and their soups are to die for. When you order a bowl of soup, it is gigantic. Two people can share one soup. Their pastrami and corned beef sandwiches are very good, and I love their coleslaw and pickles that they put on the table. Prices are okay and the atmosphere is okay - a typical Jewish deli.

Ben's serves some of the best kosher sandwiches anywhere. Actually even if you are not kosher, the sandwiches are as good as they get. Their smoked fish is also great as is just about everything else here.

If you are in Bayside and want a great sandwich, Ben's is a great choice.
