I got a mani-pedi from Polish Bar. I took off my coat and the nail tech rolled it and place it on a chair. The pedi massage chair was TOTALLY BROKEN, the padding was warn out (i could feel the motor tracks on my butt) The buttons of the remote were entirely gone and the thing shook violently. The girl did not speak english so when I asked to have the thing turned off she had no idea what I was talking about. I was charged for extra tools that I did not want. The signs at the stations remind people to tip 20% and only in cash. Even though it is customary, it still is very tacky and low brow to put that up at all. The mani-pedi was slightly above average. Although no mini neck rude, no one wrapped my toes, no help with shoes, and my coat was still wrapped in a ball just moved to another chair for another costumer. Just plan ghetto!

I was referred to this place by a co-worker for eye lash application. Since that first visit, I have not only become a loyal patron, I refer my bridal clients and friends to them for special day beauty pampering.
Great and professional staff. Cool Decor. Although the space is small, it is very nice.
If you need to stretch out, thier space on Vanderbuilt Ave is much larger.

..but once you actually get into the chair you know you've spent too much on a whole lotta nothing. You're better off going to the Dashing Diva on Montague or better yet, though it may be a pain, just go into the city. Though less grimy than most of the other places on Myrtle, the pedis and manis are not worth the money for sure..PLUS I HATE the way they sneak in that extra buck for your "supplies". UGH! How utterly rude :o( Just add it in the total cost! I gave this place two tries...I will never step foot in there again...

I was starting to think that my feet and hands would require therapy after years of being physically abused by sub par nail techs. I walk into Polish Bar hoping for a reprieve and I got more than I hoped for. I was met with a smile by receptionist and techs and was able to enjoy an ample supply of magazines, great music and a cool cup of water as I waited. I was elated when my tech took out brand new instruments to use on my nails and informed that I would be taking these home and could bring them back for my next visit. My manipedi looked awesome and I have been going back ever since. This is probably the cheapest therapy on the planet LOL

I??ve been to both Polish Bar Brooklyn locations. The staff at each location was professional, accommodating and best of all clean. Their selection of nail colors is really extensive and the products that they sell have proven to be good as well.

I found the owner to be sweet and personable. The staff is attentive and well above average. Polish Bar gives the best manicure that I??ve gotten from a nail salon that??s not in an actual spa. They will provide you with your own set of tools to ensure the cleanliness of the manicure.

I??ve also had my eyebrows shaped and received other various waxing services. They??re fast and good at what they do. I??ve never had to explain myself twice. The staff listens and the service is good. I??ve been waiting a long time for a good, clean, aesthetically pleasing nail spa to come to Brooklyn. I??ve finally found a taste of class right here in my own neighborhood!

The receptionist and technicans knows your name. PBB is a extension of your living room. they make you feel comfortable and they explain your services and their featured specials. Surprisingly my nail polish on my hands lasted for more than a week. which is rare for me since i'm always cleaning up after my husband, dog and children. If you looking for a place to spend your money during these economic times; pbb is worth it at fraction of the city's price.

Looks fine from the outside, but turns out to be an overpriced, disappointing experience. Staff knew that I had a gift certificate for a set amount of money and gave me services for extra without asking. My manicurist was poorly trained, inattentive, and at times rude. Definitely not worth the hefty price tag. Staff in general was very inattentive, RUDE and seemed to be completely oblivious to the sorts of details that make a manicure/pedicure experience worthwhile like pulling out chairs for clients with wet nails, helping clients put on jackets, actually doing a good job painting the nails, etc.

My wife went in for a touch up to her extended nails. The owner told her that the nail extensions needed to be replaced and that she would offer them at the removal and the new set at 50% off.

She asked my wife to come in yesterday and get her old extensions removed and also set up an appointment for today to put on the new ones.

Yesterday the lady who was removing them took an hour to remove them. So my wife paid 50% of the rate of 10$ and left.

Today morning the owner calls up and says that the removal took too long etc and now she will not offer the 50% discount.

When my wife told her that this is not an hourly rate job but a service provided and if her lady took an hour, she is not to be blamed for it.

The owner told her, to either pay full price today or cancel the appointment. My wife canncelled the appointment. The money involved is not the issue here. Principle is.

The owner was obnoxious and for sure, my wife will never go to this place again.

As a note, my wife says that this place is way more expensive than its Manhattan equals. And with that extra money you pay, you would at least hope to get a reasonable decent owner, who is interested in doing business and not shafting the customer.

I've been to POLISH BAR several times for manicures, pedicures and waxing and LOVE it. They take appointments, which can make my visit convenient but sometimes on a slower day I just turn up and get serviced. They have SOOOOOOOooooooo many polishes OPI, ESSIE, CHANEL, NARS, even organic ones, go figure, that I don't bother to carry around "my color" anymore I adore the choices.
Service is prompt with a smile at the front door, all manicurists SPEAK and UNDERSTAND English and are friendly and professional and so CLEAN, and in Brooklyn I don't care how much I have to pay to keep from getting the skeevies while getting my nails done. They just opened a second location closer to my house on Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights! HOORAY!!!! A bigger beautiful store.

I've had two experiences with this place and both time, I was so turned off that I couldn't go through with getting the service done. First, I went in for a walk-in appointment. The woman at the front desk was so rude (like I interrupted her or something) that I turned around and left. More recently, I had to have an encounter with the owner and I'd have to agree with "Jessica H." She took dismissive to a new level. The idea that the customer is right (within means, of course) is totally lost there. For me, spa services start and stop at the way I'm treated when I walk in the door. There was no way I would be able to relax when everywhere I turned, I received such negative, dismissive attitudes. So, both times, I chose to not proceed with services. Trust me, there won't be a third time.

The bottom line is this, if you can go in and not have a problem, you're fine. But if you do have a problem, watch out because customer service is not their strong suit. Let me be clear though, I've never actually experienced their services (never got past the nasty attitudes) so I can't and won't speak about them.

Me personally, it's not worth the gamble so I'll go elsewhere. Just thought I'd share.

I was told i would only have to wait 5 minutes and ended up sitting here over 30 minutes.
I got my eyebrows waxed but got burnt in the process and had to go to a wedding looking like i had been into a fight.
My friend got a pedicure at the same time and was surprised how tough the lady was on her feet - This was almost unconfortable.
Obvious lack of training.

Very nice place--cool looking, good music, accommodating. Except that they use so much paint thinner in their polishes that manicures rarely last longer than 2 days. There's a 2-week manicure that you can pay extra for and then schedule polish changes within the 14 days after your original mani.....but who wants to do that? I'm no princess, but I'm definitely not doing enough manual labor to chip my polish that quickly. Would have like to think this only happened with one popular color, but in subsequent trips (3) the polish streaked and then chipped as easily as before.

A friend and I went to PBB for mani/pedis. This was our second visit to the salon. While picking out polish colors, we were given the option to upgrade out service and we both chose to do the Fresh Brown Sugar Scrub pedi. We both enjoyed the extended length of procedure, but we disappointed that only a timy amount of the Fresh scrub was used on our legs and not on our feet. When we moved on to our manicures I noticed some dirt under my fingernails and when I pointed it out to my manicurist I was told that "she had already done that, " so I cleaned it out myself. Then, I was asked if I would like to pay before my nails were polished. I enquired about a dollar surcharge that was listed with no explanation, and was told that was for the tools that were used for the services. This irked me. A lot. When I inquired about this fee I was told it was for the tools they used (the polish pak). Don't get me wrong - $1 is no big deal. I just feel that when you are paying $40 for a pedicure, it should be all inclusive (except for the tip of course). My friend and I were also bothered by the waste created by using new instruments for each service. We feel that it's not ecologically responsible. In short, all of these little details made us decide that we wouldn't return to PBB. We really, really wanted to like it more than we did. We like to support our neighborhood's independently-owned businesses. However, average service + hidden fees equals our bringing business elsewhere.
I wrote to the owner with my complaints and she generously offered a complimentary manicure. My friend and I returned, and this time the person doing my friend's nails shredded her cuticles into a bloody mess and used a nail polish so thinnned out that it slowly seeped all over her fingertips. Again - a shop is only as good as thier employees. PBB needs to hire better trained people! The extra wages they would have to pay would come back 10-fold in returning customers!

I really wanted to like this place. Clinton Hill needed a fun, funky place to get your nails done and i was happy when the Polish Bar appeared in the neighborhood. I treated myself to a $25 berry scrub pedicure ($5 more then their normal pedi) . 15 minutes into my treatment I was told that i could not get the Berry scrub as I my legs had been shaved that morning and this would cause a rash. However I was still charged $25 dollars as she used berry lotions on my legs. The Pedicure itself was nothing special. No message and just a a basic soak and polish. However I wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt and was keen to support a local business so I wrote them a letter telling them how i felt and they said they would give me a $5 credit on my next visit. I returned for an eyebrow wax a month later and they refused to give me a credit saying that they had no record of my letter. The cherry on top of the cake was that I got a rash all over my eyebrows a day after the wax.

This place is fabulous, definitely for all the divas in the area. The owner Tricia is supersweet and does the BEST eyebrows...I've been to all the city hotspots...eliza's, anastasia, robin evans, warren tricomi, etc...she tops them all. They do great mani's and pedi's as well of course. Have'nt been here in months ...only because the past few times i've tried they've been packed!

Super Cute! I recentaly moved to NY and have been on the hunt for a good nail salon. After spending a fortune in the shi-shi-pooh-pooh palces in SOHO and Manhattan were the nail techs are under skilled and the serviced are way over priced, I decided to some more research in my own neihborhood of Brooklyn.
I found Polis a treasure hidden in Clinton Hills. I had a pedicure with Martha and it was one the best pedicures I have ever had! She really pays attention to detail, she scrubbed, filed buffed, cleaned, massaged and polihed my toes to perfection!
The staff is so friendly and they all make you feel right at home. The decor is so adorable! Polish offers other services as well and I noticed I beat the rush as I was leaving ,so make sure you schedule an appointment. I was sold after viewing there web-site (www.polishbarbrooklyn) This is my new regular spot. I've already booked an appointment for next week and my roommate has one tomorrow!

Nice break from the usual, dime-a-dozen nail salons -- this place has a funky, girly vibe, with a stylish interior and and an actual sound system. They have a selection of designer polishes (Chanel, YSL) in the latest, hard-to-find colors. Service was sweet, professional, and CLEAN -- it's a few bucks more than the usual spots, but so worth it. Go for the mani-pedi package ($30) and brow shaping by STARR. You'll feel like a little diva, and love it.
