The sign outside reads " Voted best coffee in town." This means it has to be a decent place....right? Wrong?
I walked inside feeling confident about my choice of this coffee brewing establishment. My friend does not drink coffee, but I assured her that Jacks would undoubtedly have Ice Tea to quench her thirst. I mean, don't all cafes have Iced Tea? Much to our surprise, their fine blend of iced tea, is seasonal. Seasonal...really? My friend decides to settle for a cran-apple juice, that they serve in a very small bottle. As I confidently order my Caramel Sauce Mocha, made with the finest coffee in the city, of course, I am immediately shot down by the barista. " We don't have caramel", he says. I asked the cashier what flavors they do have? " Vanilla or Hazelnut," she murmurs. After ordering my "plain" mocha I am ready to pay. I pull out my debit card, and yup, you guessed it, they only accept cash. My friend and I pool together our cash on hand to pay. AS I take my seat to enjoy it, the cashier promptly tells us that we have to leave. "No dogs in the building." Really...is this New York or not?
SO, here is the breakdown.
Jacks is a seasonal iced tea making, limited flavor selection, credit card denying, dog hating, moderately ok coffee joint, right on the edge of the Financial District. Enjoy!
