Avi Golan Hair Salon New York

Avi's cut and style is better than the one I got for years on Madison Ave. on the Upper East Side at a salon that charged $200.00 (no color, just cut and style). I am thrilled to have Avi doing my hair. He's a great guy with excellent technique. My daughter came up from D.C. and he cut her hair in an entirely different style (she went from mid-length to short hair). She looks darling, loves it, and despairs that she doesn't live closer. This guy is a gem. You won't be disappointed.

Avi is great, and his staff as well. The quality of work that is done is amazing. The staff is very nice and just spending time there is very relaxing. Avi takes time and does not rush, to make sure you are completely and totally satisfied when you walk out of there. I would def recommend this salon!!!

Avi is a great guy, I always like his hiarcuts and his color work too. However... Avi, you are so slooooow. C'mon, chop-chop, this is New York, you got to get a little faster! It alsmot feels like you're sleeping. I can't spend 1.5 hours on a haircut, this is getting on my last nerve.

I have been going to this salon for a while. Avi is a lovely guy but it always takes so long to have a color and cut. Staff in the salon seem to come and go very frequently, not only does Avi cut , color and style himself he insists upon washing hair as well rather than leave it to another staff member, this means that clients build up, it has taken me more than 3hrs on some occasions.

I would also question the quality of color products used in the Salon. Color only lasts about two weeks, normally I would get at least four before having to return for a top-up.

Avi is great and I would love to see him do well but my patience is wearing thin and I plan to look for another stylist.

I've been going to alot of hair salons in the city and out of state and nothing could compare to Avi's work! He's amazing when it comes down to work with a persons hair. The first second i come into the salon he spotted me and said i know exactly what i should do to your hair to make u feel beautiful!!!!! If you want a great haircut and color go visit AVI he was unbelievable, and before you leave her chair she makes you feel incredible!!! He is extremely friendly and the salon is beautiful!! AVI is one of the best stylists and colorist in the city, so if you want a great haircut definitely go see AVI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi my name is Mitchell and I'm a touring artist. I came to Avi's Salon last week in a bit of a hurry. Although I was in hurry I was not looking for a rushed job. I have long thick hair and like for it to be very textorized and very layered. They did a great job I was impressed! looking forward to next time.

I came into Avi's Salon this morning consulted with a stylist by the name of Tayla and she recommended me to do sunlights, (it's highlights without bleach) they came out absolutely beautiful! I was very impressed with my hair, it looked very shiny and healthy. The service was very welcoming and reasonably priced. I used to dish out a ton of money on highlights and haircuts but not nearly as good as this time and I only payed half the price I'm used to. I absolutely loved it and I plan on seeing Tayla again!!!

Cons: Travel time but totally worth it!

the staff is so cool, (and friendly) that there is never even a hint of the fact that i am probably (always, when i am there) the oldest person in the place. this is something i have been conscious of in recent years going into any boutiquey type place in manhattan, and am always a little sensitive to it. anyway, a year or so ago when i was with one of my very chic (and younger) nyc friends, i noticed she had new haircut and it looked fabulous. i don't know why, but i wrote down the name of the shop she went to and decided that the hour long train ride into the city and the challenge of a new hair style was what i wanted. i made an appointment at avi golan Hair Experience, with the "operator at the first station on the right" and have been doing so ever since. he is fabulous. i've never been disappointed and feel younger for having done so.

For the first time I went in for their specials and it definitelly worth a try! My hair was a major dissaster from coloring and highlighting it at the different salons. At AVI's salon I've got the MOST AMAIZING hair color, cut and conditioning TREATMENT EVER, my hair now feels soft and silky. I like the fact that stylists are not pushy about selling you services are not necessary for your hair. For everyone who want to have HEALTHY SHINY AND SILKY HAIR TRY ARTISTIK SALON!!!!!

I recently went to Salon AVI for the first time about 3 weeks ago and went to avi for a hair cut. I was a little nervous at first because I feel like I haven't been able to find a good stylist for a long time. In short , avi was fantastic - it was a very quick haircut, but it's the best I've had in ages - really really well done. I'm very happy, it suits my face and falls nicely. I specifically signed up on citysearch just to write this review because I felt he really deserved it. !!!!!!!!

I went there and it was the best color and haircut I?ve had in years. I had a lot of compliments for the first time ever about my hair from family and friends. The salon is well organized, the staff is very friendly and the price is convenient. For sure I will be back and recommend the salon to my friends and all of you

I've never written a complaint on anyplace before but I just couldn't let this go. This place is terrible. Very unprofessional. The salon is pretty but never judge a book by it's cover. I should of known. None of the other clients looked happy either. Save your money. Don't waste your time.

I went into this salon with very little idea of what I wanted. I told them I wanted something completely different but that low-maintenance is essential. I walked out with the best cut ever! It is very chic and professional and yet incredibly cute. And the best thing is I spend all of 2 seconds on it every morning! I just shower and go! And I get compliments all the time. They gave me more than I could have ever expected! Oh...and not only is the cut great, but the salon itself is amazing. So cute and classy. And everyone there is super nice. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

I am extremely happy about my haircut and color from this salon. Service was excellent. The best I've had so far. I have gotten many compliments about my hair. This salon definately upholds it reputation.

i got my hair cut and highlighted, the service was impeccable, professional; and the price was such a great deal compared to the place i used to go uptown. and the head massage totally relaxed me after my long day at work. highly recommended!!

I thought that this would be an upscale place - the hairdressers were horrible - like they didnt have any experience , worked very unprofessional, not very friendly either- I wouldnt recomend this place to ANYONE- you will regret it - and on top of that - your hair will be a mess!

I live in the neighborhood so knew they were there. I was in desperate need of a cut but was still having sticker shock w/ salon prices since I was new to the city. One day I was desperate for an updo as a stand-in bridesmaid and they took me w/ 2 hours notice and gave me a very fun updo -- and only $50 for shorter/not-quite shoulder length hair. I then made another appointment for a cut and it was exactly what I needed for my grown-out razor bob and to help my hair transition from short to long. I get the $25 glossifier/mask plus a cut which totals around $100 depending on who cuts it. For NY, that seems very reasonable. I have been back every 3-4 months and both Delage and Nadine have cut my hair which is now several inches down my back (about 5-6 inches longer than a year ago). I love my long layers and for the first time in my life actually bother to blowdry my long hair to wear it down all day rather than twisting up into a clip. And in the year I've been going, they have helped me grow my hair out as planned and the frequent cuts and hair glossifiers/masks make it very healthy for when it's long enough to donate again.

Pros: get what you ask for, convenient for downtowners, prices

Cons: staff (not stylists) can be a bit too informal, yack too much too loudly

I have been here 2 times. The first time was just a blowout and it was fine. Then, I decided I wanted to get highlights and thought I would go back. Well, on the positive, I like the atmosphere of the place. Some staff are friendly and polite, others are brash. I was nervous about the color of the highlights and wanted a consultation before getting it done. Don't know why I bothered. The color was MUCH lighter than I picked out and my hair looked to be about 75% of the highlighted color, when I specifically said nothing drastic. My hair is very dark brown and when I walked out it looked like I was trying to be a blonde but had an orangy look. I hated it. The dye was on my hair 2x as long as the stylist said it would be, but he was too busy with other customers I suppose. (my appointment started 30 minutes late, so he may have been behind) It was also pretty expensive, or maybe it was just sticker shock as I never had it done before, but it was $260. Now I just need to find a place to take me back to my very dark brown! I would not dare go back to this place.

I went at Nadine?s to request wavy hair for my soft straight hair. The place was recommended to me by a friend who spoke highly of Nadine. She knew exactly what I wanted and even showed me how to achieve the maximum results. I am a believer that I have had a good cut if 3 to 4 months after, I'm holding the same style as in the first month, which is very much my case at this salon. The staff is friendly. They welcomed me with some coffee and Nadine made sure that I was satisfied before leaving the place and asked to go back free of charge in case I didn't. That's hard to find... P.S. Always talk to the hairdresser about what you are trying to achieve or what you want. It is important for the hairdresser to best satisfy your need and for you to have a clear realistic image of what you are looking for.

These ladies were for the most part very nice & outgoing -- however, I received an absolutely horrible haircut. I asked specifically for a longer cut, and left with the shortest cut I've ever received. I should also mention that this was a men's cut, and that maybe this "salon" didn't have any experience cutting men's hair -- shops with any experience with these cuts know that most guys have very specific preferences as to the number razor used on the sides (my preference was completely ignored), or the length of their sideburns (I was never asked) -- my hair was also thinned to a very very low level, and the areas around my ears were completely butchered. The place was overall well decorated & had a nice vibe, and I wish them the best of luck in their new business, but would like to recommend that they listen to their customers, and perhaps not urge their customers so strongly to write on CitySearch.

what a lovely place, beautiful surroundings, and warm friendly staff, especially the receptionist who i found out is part owner with nadine. they look alike. i think they're sisers. the thing i like about it is there's a full service spa attached to it and you can get a mani and a pedi or anything else done including your hair all in the same day. and they have real cool lcd screens in the mirrors playing music videos or television, real, real cool. nadine herself is a great hairstylist and colorist. there were a lot of happy people in that place from what i could tell. later!

I have to say that the service and I received was great. The facility was clean and very modern which is something I always look for when looking for a new place.
