I can not rate the workout because I never got that far. I have to agree with many reviewers, the staff is rude and ignores you and fails to give you information. I didn't have time to work hard to get info on a workout. I ended up going someplace else and was very happy. Pay more attention to your customers

After training at Undisputed for close to a year I have to really question some of the general intent of the negative reviews below. Charlie Cassis owns, manages & teaches 99% of all sessions at his gym. There are no full time assistants or secretaries to answer the phone or to tend to ministerial duties. Charlie does it all and has a full workload and many loyal students. Don't take it personally if his response to your inquiry takes longer than you would like or if he is hesitant to add another student to the flock.
I have done both private lessons and group instruction. Never have I been talked down to. Have I been told that my technique was wrong or that I was weak in certain areas? Yes! Such is proper instruction. If anything, Charlie is overly supportive. Classmates are supportive and friendly as well, though not much talking is done during the 2 hour group sessions which I would label as technique-based cardio.
All in all, I truly enjoy working out there. I love Charlie's "no pretend time" admonitions, the bamboo painted walls and even the "nightclub" music as another reviewer labeled it. (People working out with up-tempo music?!? Heresy!) The place is clean. Coupled with minor diet changes I've lost 30 lbs. Charlie is the real deal but most importantly, I feel great when I leave his gym.

HIGH ENERGY!!
After searching for a few months for a good gym to train in, i was impressed with an straight impact of high energy the moment I walked into Undisputed gym. While the highly accredited training assistant was being referree to two martial artists in full fighting and combative gear in the ring, Charlie The Cream Cassis was offering world champion instructional to other martial artists training on the heavy bags. From the energy I observed I knew I would have to step my game up and respond with the same energy. This proved to be easier than thought thanks to all the support and encouragement from the trainers and other students in the class. It soon became clear that high energy, support, and encouragement were not the only things Undisputed gym offered...but detailed instructional in the fundamentals and advanced art of kickboxing.

Being that this is the highlight of my day after a long day at school and working part time at a lawfirm, made it quite easy for me to make the transformation from just a fan of kickboxing to somebody actively training in the actual sport and art. I have been training for a great 4 months and am training for my own debut in a ring. For a person who could not kick higher than a shoebox to now being able to kick open a locked door, I look forward to my training session and family at Undisputed gym everyday.

Great for beginners to professionals to people just looking for a great workout, Unidisputed gym is armed with a great supportive and encouraging environment, detailed fundamental and martial arts training, and extreme high energy.

From the first day i walked into undisputed i knew it was different from any other kickboxing gym i had ever seen. I had spent at least 6 months searching the city for the best training, and after a few tries i found Charlie The Cream Cassis. Charlie's training methods are second to none, If you want to train like a professional fighter this is definatley the place to be. Under Charlies training i won 2 KickBoxing titles, while keeping my undefeated record intact, and this is ony the begining. I have been to many, many gyms not just in new york but in the whole USA and i have to say that undisputed is for sure one of the best. The quality of the instruction is top notch, not even second to top gym like american top team. Its also not just about the training, we are a private gym so its a family like atmosphere, very close knit and every one is willing to help each other out. The facilities are the best in new york city, there is no gym that looks as good and is as functional and CLEAN as Undisputed, if you dont agree you probably have never seen what a real boxing gym looks like. Overall This is the best kickboxing training i have recived anywhere, In my last fight i won over a current champion who had 40 fights more experience then me and i beat him in a more then convincing fashion, all because of charlie strategy during the fight. He is a super experienced fighter with knockout power in the Hands and the Feet, with an aggressive and really exciting fighting style, watching him fight i what made me want to get into it even more.
If you want to learn kickboxing this is the place to be PERIOD!!!!!!

I have 8 years of competition experience in wrestling, Judo and boxing and having moved frequently, have trained at many gyms. I don't make any claims on my own ability, but nearly every one of the true professional fighters I've trained with has been modest and secure in their achievements. Charlie is not one of these fighters. The "Cream" struck me as more of a showman than a fighter or a coach. He came across as condescending, repeatedly bragged about "already having made enough money," and his pitch was evocative of a used car salesman. He struck me as a generally competent instructor, and I think his program is great for beginners or experienced fighters who are just interested in fitness. His program looked to be mostly stand-up based and he seems proficient in this, but his attitude was a big turn-off for me. I wouldn't recommend this gym to any serious martial artists who want to train in an environment without an ego.

I agree with the negative feedback on this board and am not sure which gym the others are going to. I wanted to try a class with a friend, and this cream guy confronts me and acts like he's doing me a favor by letting me in the class. He also made me pay $25 for a trial, which is ridiculous. The class worked up a sweat, but that's about it. Afterwards, one of his high-paying customers came in, so he told me to wait to discuss membership. After he ignored me for 20 minutes, I couldn't wait anymore and left. I guess he just expected me to sit in the corner for an hour. I have no desire to go back to train with this clown. If you want "Sweating to the Oldies" with Richard Simmons or "Boot Camp" with Billy Blanks, save yourself some money and just buy the DVD.

Are you out of your mind! I've seen Charlie take mother f...ers out in seconds. His hands have nothing to do with it. His legs are what you have to worry about. The guy is a f...en excellent fighter and trainer. He probably looked at your dumb but and thought it useless to waste his time. Putz!

I have known Charlie for many years. I have been to some of his fights and I?m not quite sure where to begin. He can?t fight if his life depended on it! His friends always fought his battles for him. He is a fraud! Let?s take a good look at his website, first we see ?4 time champion? then we see ?3 time champion?. Well Charlie which one is it, 3 or 4? He always has an excuse, a story. To be quite honest I?m not even sure if he himself knows the truth anymore. The gym?when have you ever seen a gym with graffiti, bamboo, music blasting? Is this a gym or a night club? He stares at every female like she is a piece of meat, he belittles the males so he can feel like the bigger man. Rumor has it that he is far from the "BIGGER" man. He is all over the place; he is unable to focus long enough to actually teach something completely. He brushes people off if he doesn?t have an answer. He is always complaining about something hurting. Seriously what kind of teacher is he? The best is getting a hold of someone when you first try to inquire about the gym to sign up. It takes days before you hear back from someone, you can?t get any straight answers, and you can?t view the place or the training unless you pay a fee. When have you ever heard of such BS? I have known a lot of fighters/trainers throughout the years and I noticed something, their hands/knuckles. Have you ever looked at Charlie?s? They resemble an office worker then a fighter of any kind. I?m sorry but this place is a joke. The trainer is a joke.

I've worked out at a few gyms around the country, and I've checked out a lot of other gyms, kwoons, and dojos; and Undisputed gave me the strangest experience yet. First, it's easier to get my doctor on the phone than it is one of these guys. Every time you call you have to leave a message with an answering service. Then, whenever it's convenient for them, when you're on your way to work at 8:30 in the morning or when you're in the middle of lunch, they give you a call back from a different phone line. Second red flag: they don't let you observe a class before you try one. I should've said no to them after I heard that. What person in his right mind would pay for a product without seeing it first? And with martial arts, watching a class beforehand saves everybody time if it's not the right fit. Instead, I wasted my time and actually agreed to pay $25 for a trial class. Funny thing is, when I showed up for class, nobody answered the freakin' door. I was there fifteen minutes before the class, which is what you need if you're going to change clothes and stretch out, and nobody answered the freakin' door. I called, left another message with their answering service, waited ten minutes, watching absolutely NO ONE ELSE try to get into the building, and then I left. Next day, the gym calls me like they didn't get my message, treats me like I didn't show up for a class I signed up for, and then doesn't apologize when I tell them that I showed up and no one answered the door. The guy on the phone tells me that they don't let people into classes prior to ten minutes before class starts, treats me like it's my fault nobody answered the door - not even to say into the intercom, "Come back later." Well, I guess I won't come back later. It's not like they shouldn't have expected me for the time I made an appointment for. If they can't even be professional enough to answer the door, how professional can they be at coaching?

I worked in law enforcement for 20 years, I am 46 years old and have been working out my whole life. I thought I was doing a great routine until I started training with Charlie Cassis. Charlies training in mixed martial arts is by far superior to any workout I have done in my life! If you want to get in great shape and feel more confident this is the place you want to train. I have trained in many gyms this is without a doubt the best value for your dollar!

I?ve been training with ?The Cream? for 6 years. I?ve know him as a professional, a trainer and a close friend. Undisputed gym is the culmination of a life long dream of Charlie?s and I feel thus far he has done a tremendous job in the accomplishment of this. The facility is state of the art and looks greats. The gyms atmosphere, this including look, feel, personalities of different clients during groups and private one on one client, is unmatched. There is genuinely a lot of respect given to Charlie and he reciprocates every single day by giving the same amount of respect back, training you to your potential daily, attempting to make you
feel in the best shape of your life and genuinely showing you why this sport is so special.

Charlie is a professional, a world champion and a stand up type of guy. He has reinstalled a drive in me to be an in ring professional and I feel that with his expertise and him by my side my dream, to be on top of the world in this sport will come true. Conditioning, in-ring interactions and the passing of knowledge from his experiences are just a few of the many positives I have had while training with Charlie.

Charlie has instilled such a love for the sport in me that I decided to have laser eye surgery a few months back so I can competitively fight. He has called me very frequently to check on how the progression of my surgery is going and has shown a genuine concern for his student. No one can ever say anything ill about Charlie as an instructor because I have witnessed first hand through this hard recovery Charlie?s dedication to his students.

I am confident that upon my return to Undisputed, Charlie will take me to the top and I am also certain this is indisputably the best gym in NYC.

The first thing I would like to say is that the individual who wrote "If you want to throw your money away..." obviously did not have the nerve to bring up his grievances to Charlie himself, as it has been my experience that he is perhaps the most receptive instructor I have ever worked with (I have had the pleassure of training in various disciplines under 11 different instructors thus far, so that is no small compliment). Almost every day I have trained with him, he has asked for feedback. "How do you like it (class)?" "Do you feel the atmosphere is respectful?" "Do you feel like you're learning alot?" etc. and I assure you I am certainly not one of his wealthier clients (broke college student), and that he is far from the money grubber this reviewer made him out to be. I also assure you that this review is coming from my own computer, and that I was never pressured into writting one in front of him (all he did was show me the page and ask if I would mind writting one).

In my experience, Charlie "the Cream" Cassis has been a very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and amiable instructor. It seems apparant to me that he built his fighting carreer on superb technique, and is therefore a seemingly endless supply of sneaky combos, solid defensive techniques, elusive/deceptive footwork, feints, etc. I have improved drastically under his tutilege, and I am confident that he has a great deal to show anyone who walks through his door. I have done privates with him and I have taken group classes, and I see no way anyone could fail to learn in either setting providing they actually speak up if they do not understand something.

The gymn is an excellent well kept facility containing all the necessary equipment (ring, speed bag, various heavy bags, wraps, gloves, shin pads, headgear, etc.), and a very respectful atmoshpere that I have found to be all too rare in other MMA/kickboxing gymns.

Charlie The Cream Cissa really motivated me to keep training. Not only does he have tons of experience he's also a great teacher. If your commited and hard working, Undisputed is the place for you. Keep up the good work Charlie.

WARNING! Do not give your hard earned cash to this guy, he has no respect for his clients or giving you your dollars worth. I trained in Undisputed's classes for months, and really never learned a thing. Absolutely no tuition in technique, it's all about loud music and yelling at students. The class looks like a bunch of beginners throwing arms and legs around with no idea. I wanted to train outside of Charlie's ridiculous classes, but the gym is NEVER open...and once he had my money he NEVER answered my calls. In my time in this gym I saw a disturbing number of people asking for refunds and being refused.
This guy even had the hide to ask me to write a favourable citysearch review from his office, while he's watching. I refused and decided to write an honest one for everyone. The people that wrote the other reviews are either the wealthier clients that Charlie likes to keep happy, or they were forced to write nice things in his presence.
Training with Charlie, and Undisputed Gym, was the most dissapointing and frustrating experience I've had in this city.
In my opinion, you will regret doing business with Undisputed.

I've been working out with weights for 28 years and boxing for more than 10. About 2 years ago I began to train with "The Cream." I felt as if I wasted the last 10 years boxing almost every day. Charlie changed my style and turned me into a true boxer/kickboxer. He has incredible instincts. He can watch you strike the bag or shadow box for 30 seconds and know exactly how to fix you up. This man is the "Real Deal." He can turn you into a warrior and give you incredible confidence. I was in gerat shape before I started but he took me to a new level. My stomach, hips and legs have never been so ripped. My cardio and stamina is at a different level even though I was running more than 10 miles per week.. His sparing sessions teach you to be cool under pressure and you can fight harder while conserving energy.

I can go on and on but let me just keep it short ; this man is the best trainer in the city. You must give Undisputed at try if you are serious about this sport, your body and health!

Pros: flexible times, clean facilities, world champion instruction

Cons: none that I can think of

I've had numerous gym memberships which I've forked out thousands of dollars over the years and never used, so I had to find a way to motivate myself to exercise. I thought hiring a personal trainer may be the answer but that became monotonous too. I decided to try kickboxing at Undisputed and now I'm addicted, in fact I look forward to going to every class.

Charlie Cassis is more than just a personal trainer, he's a world champion kickboxer who knows how to get results because he recognises that every student is different. Its obvious that his knowledge on kickboxing and fitness wasn't just learnt through reading an excercise manual and passsing a test. He gained it through years of study and hours of ring experience. He's also extremely personable and easy to approach, and so if you're not sure about something(various techniques, etc) all you have to do is ask.

Each lesson/class is different so you are always learning something new, as well as staying in shape. I Highly recommend this Gym!

I have to admit I've known Charlie "The Cream" Cassis for quite a few years, as his been a good friend to my family. I've known his career & have watched him as a 3 time UNDEFEATED World CHAMPION Kick Boxer. I've seen this man KNOCK OUT many contenders!

I am in my 30's and have a career in the music business & need to stay in shape. I was very interested in kick boxing ,yet was a little intimidated to try and take classes from an Undefeated 3x World Champ. I've learned that was very unnecessary!

Simply put Charlie 'The Cream" is the best instructor& this i the best workout I could ever have hoped for. The classes are cool ,respectful & a lot of fun & again, a GREAT WORKOUT! I am doing exercises nobody else in the world could show me except Charlie!!

Simply put This has changed my life forever & for the better!

I have had many personal trainers and Charlie is by far the best. His love of kickboxing is contagious and his enthusiasm for making you better really helps your own motivation. His workouts are varied and imaginative which is very helpful. What I like best is that he really knows how to push my limits but he stops just before its too much. I am definitely in the best shape of my life and because of his training I feel like I could "handle myself" in the real world if a bad situation ever came up. I highly recommend training with "The Cream" as he was known while he was professionally fighting.

The gym is amazing with different size punching bags, speed bags and an official size boxing ring. This gym has every thing anyone is looking for. If your looking for weight loss the cardio invloved would defentliy help with weight loss or to stay healthy. First three weeks I lost 7 pound. If your looking to learn how to defend your self or try to turn proffesional undisputed has it. I learned more then I ever thought I would and I highly recommended it.

Charlie "The Cream" Cassis, 3 time world kickboxing champion, is my personal trainer in Undisputed boxing gym. After 6 months of training with "the cream" i've noticed that there is no better place to work out in the city. Charlie's enthusiasm for the sport can't be matched. His motivation has pushed me to work out 3-4 days a week. Not only have my boxing and kick-boxing skills elevated, but the cardio workout has increased my stamina level as well. This comprehensive work out has been great for me and i intend to stay for a while!

Joined a few months ago. Had some experience with martial arts previously. Signed up to get back in shape. Classes are serious and fun. Tremendous exercise. Awesome cardio. Would recommend to anyone trying to get back in shape or want to improve their skills. People are friendly. Classes are not crowded. And Charlie mixes up each class so it's never boring.

I am dedicated to staying physically fit. I have done so through the boxing, karate, weight lifting, running, different types of cardio training, yoga, swimming, etc.
I met Charlie Kasis 1993 when in a gym and learned that Charlie?s real joy was Kickboxing. He has bought me to numerous gyms and martial arts studios to train exposing me to a wide variety styles and trainers. I love Charlie?s style, he is very relaxed, knows how to defend himself, solve his opponents defense, and take their offense. Charlie is a highly skilled knockout fighter who will bravely engage his opponent with vicious punches and kicks putting himself at risk to see who the better man is.
I tell you this because you should know that you are being trained by a real pro.I do love training with Charlie and am so happy he has his own dojo. Charlie now shows others his hybrid style of traditional martial arts, spirit, discipline, and respect combined with full contact kickboxing.
Always cognizant of my abilities, how I felt that day, and any injuries I may have had he helped heal my bad back through stretching and rehabilitate my ankle after recovering from Achilles tendon surgery. These injuries did not happen under his watch or through martial arts. When sparring I am put in a competitive situations yet kept out of harms way. I have become confident and love being in the ring, got into better shape, and increased my energy level, reflexes, reactions, and creativity.
The best thing about training with Charlie is that his love and respect for this sport is infectious. It is hard work but amazing fun. Charlie will push you through positive reinforcement. His energy is contagious and causes my confidence and energy level to soar creating great training sessions. Thebest thing to do would be to watch a class and see how eager the students are, children, women, and men to learn and absorb the knowledge and spirit that Charlie is passing on.

I've been training martial arts on and off for 15 years. Now in my 30s, I want a place where I can get a solid workout, sharpen my skills, and have fun.

Undisputed manages to balance first-class training with a fun environment. Charlie teaches all the classes. He is very personable and makes sure everyone is keeping up. He keeps classes small (generally under 10 people) so that everyone gets enough attention. The style is boxing, kickboxing, and muay thai. The people range in age from early 20s to late 30s - both male and female. Classes usually begin with cardio and shadow boxing, then bag work, then drills with a partner, then light sparing. No one gets hurt during the in-class sparing. For those who want full contact sparring, they can do so after class with someone at their level.

I have taken a few one-on-one classes with Charlie and highly recommended it, especially as a way to get started. It accelerates your learning and is a good way to build up confidence. Charlie has a passion for martial arts and for teaching. It is reflected in how he trains his students: he goes the extra mile, which often includes spending more time than he has to. He is also flexible in allowing students to come in early or stay late to use the facilities, which are excellent.

I started this gym in september aftter searching for a boxing, which most were over priced and had group classes. I met with charlie and he told me to try out one class free and been in love with the kickboxing sport ever since. I came to class at 215 pounds and i am now 190 pound. His experience in the sport is very helpful and the people in the gym are very friendly and great to work with. I would recommend this gym to anyone looking to get into kickboxing.

If you want to look like the cream of the crop you have to train with Charlie "The Cream" (three time world kickboxing champ). I travel 45 minutes three times a week to train with "The Cream". The gym is phenomenal. The workouts are powerful. While training with Charlie I've been able to sculpt my body into great shape while mastering a new sport. I've never felt so rejuvenated and alive. People stop me on a daily basis and ask me what I do to look so good. My answer is "Undisputed!"

I have been doing 1 on1 session here for a few months and its been worth every penny. Charlie, the owner and trainer (who is also the 3-time world kickboxing champion) is a great trainer. He has a unique way of working me really hard without going over the top or making me feel inept. The place is clean and accesssable. With a full boxing ring and equipment, I learn more then I thought I could in a just a few months, he also taught me excersizes to do outside the gym. If your looking at this or a gym- I recommend coming here, since Charlie will teach you excersizes that are as effective as weight training. Highly recommended.

No matter what you've tried before, you have to try a workout at Undisputed. The owner, Charlie "The Cream" is the current (and three-time!) World Champion kickboxer. No one know workouts and training technique like the Cream. The options are endless - group classes, one-on-one, boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, self-defense, yoga...you name it. The one-on-one sessions are awesome. The Cream provides a customized program that CONTINUALLY progresses you - the results are amazing!

His typical classes go on for well over hour and a half and is always instructed from Charlie. It's very likely that you will quit before Charlie quits on you. There are about 3 to 12 students for each class so there is plenty of one on one attention. Great cardio work out plus skills you can use either in the ring or the streets. There is a full sized elevated ring and plenty of different style bags. The gym is very clean compared to other gyms in the city. Charlie incorporates boxing, kickboxing, some classic martial arts, muay thai and ground work. He always ends the class with some core work and pilates. The class is mixed with both men and women and there is a nice juke box with some great rocky tracks.

I personally checked out about 6 gyms before deciding on this one. I definitely recommend this place if you are interested in staying or getting in shape while learning martial arts.
