I started at Body In Motion 4 years ago when I moved to the city. I had done Pilates for years yet I was instantly impressed with the instructors at this studio. Most of them had dance backgrounds like myself and knew how to incorporate that dance training into my workouts. I did Pilates here after being injured in a bad car accident. My instructor was not only careful with my injuries but really helped me with rehab and getting myself strong again. I would HIGHLY recommend this studio to everyone, it is a wonderful environment and the owner takes great pride in her work as well as the people she hires

Go to Body In Motion Pilates Studio!! I hadn't exercised in years until my best friend encouraged me to try Pilates. I didn't want to go to a big, factory-like studio or gym where everyone was in perfect shape. I wanted privacy and a teacher who could understand that I was starting from the very beginning. From the very first phone call, I had a good experience with this studio. They were so patient, spending time answering my questions and making me feel at ease. Everyone at the studio is pleasant, friendly, and down to earth and for the first time, exercise is actually fun! I have tried several teachers here and they all are encouraging and positive. Not only are they warm and friendly but they are knowledgeable within their field of study. This studio values learning and being ahead of the curve, where they are fully certified in Pilates and/or GYROTONIC, and in addition, they study every chance they get, taking classes in anatomy, dance, Alexander, and other movement forms. My teacher teaches me how to walk better, stand straighter, and always gives me tips on how to align myself while out in the real world.

I thought taking Pilates at Body In Motion would be a good way to start exercise again. But what I didn't know was that it would change my life. I look at the body in the mirror and don't even recognize it. I feel and look better than I ever have!

This is a nice studio. Well lit, open, airy. The instructor took her time with me going over the moves and helping me get into position. Liked it enough to want to go back again.

I always know that I?m going to feel better after having a lesson with Marcy. She?s always creating a new exercise or giving me another image to get me to lengthen and strengthen my body. By the end of the session, I?m standing straighter and feeling completely energized. After doing Pilates for many years, I tried Gyrotonic for the first time and am completely hooked! All of the spiraling motions and leg/hip work made my back feel incredible! Both Pilates and Gyrotonic are like an addiction. When I miss a week, my body aches and feels worse. As soon as I start to move and breathe on the equipment under Marcy's care, I know the pain will subside and I?ll be in good shape.

5 years ago, when I was 45 I blew my L5/S1 disc and decided to have a discectomy to alleviate the unbearable pain. However, unlike what the doctors had suggested would be my recovery period, I suffered greatly after the surgery for several years--and tried everything, including accupuncture, deep tissue work, rolfing, and yoga--which seemed to work the best.

I faithfully practiced yoga 4 times per week for a period of two years until the end of 2006 However, still in great pain, I read about pilates and was introduced to Body in Motion last November. I started taking private lessons and within two months my back pain had subsided approximately 90% to the point where I could function and sleep normally.

Body In Motion is a professional, fully equipped, pilates studio which also offers massage and some yoga. The staff is very experienced and courteous, and in my opinion I owe my new, functioning lifestyle to Marcy Schlissel and her excellent instructors.
