I stumbled upon this joint when trying to find the B&H Camera store...... Well, I'm so grateful.
The name was intruiging so in I went. I was a bit put off at first at the bland interior but then the display of cupcakes at the back caught my eye! All sorts of wonderful flavours and combinations... As I was going to a friend's for dinner that evening I bought six. We had such fun cutting and tasting and comparing.
These are most definitley the best cupcakes I have ever tasted and worth crossing town for .....
I was the only customer in the store so I had the full attention of the lady behind the counter who was so sweet and pleasant to me.
I can't comment on anything else as I only bought cupcakes, but the really were a treat....

Pros: Magnificent Cupcakes

Cons: Decor

.

The name itself should have explained that this place lacks some serious creativity but I walked in anyway due to my midday hunger. I ordered a Turkey burger with Pepper Jack Cheese.

The burger is on the small side and it is just blend. Turkey pattie is slightly dry and tiny and the seasoning is just average. I could get a much bigger and better Turkey Burger at Paul's Burger Joint on St. Marks.

Also ordered the sweet potato fries and they were alright. They were not very crunchy.

The food is mediocre the service is just HORRIBLE. We ordered lemonades and pizza. I had always stuck to the burger in the past (ordered "to go" 2 times before), so I wanted to try something else that they offer. They took a while to get the lemonades to us and when the drinks arrived my friend's had a HUGE insect floating in her drink! That is pretty unappetizing in itself, but to be fair we thought that perhaps the insect flew in because the doors were open, and not the alternative- that their sanitary habits are disgusting. Anyway, it just went downhill from there. We told our waitress and she didn't even flinch. She just asked if we wanted another lemonade. What? We asked for bottled water... she brought tap. The pizza was laughable. I could get better just about ANYWHERE in NYC! Awful sauce, awful crust, awful taste. I ordered a type of pizza that is supposed to have arugula and radicchio that had NO arugula/radicchio on it- it had neither. The plain lettuce that DID end up on the pizza had dressing on it... it was a bad combination that was not stipulated on the menu. My friend's pizza indicated it had tomato sauce according to the menu, but came with no tomato sauce. What kind of business are they running? After the bad food, the lack of service (she never came by again after dropping off the pizzas), we were ready to go. Of course, they ended up charging us for 2 lemonades even though we didn't drink 2 lemonades because of the insect experience. I told her about the "error" and she just snatched the check and hand wrote "total minus 3 dollars." I love trying new foods and different places and I'm certainly not a frequent complainer, but this place is not worth it. We left no tip and got out of there. You've been warned.

Cons: service and food.

this place is my favorite restaurant in new york. first of all, skip the fries, theyre mediocre and the burger will fill you up. the buffalo burger is the best, its big and juicy and paired with the mango salsa, its heaven. a respectable selection of toppings and burger options make it really fun to try and imagine which combination will be the most delicious. ostrich with avocado and pepper jack cheese is another delicious choice. and now to the cupcakes. they are big and moist and 10 times better than places like magnolia. i had the chocolate raspberry, which was as beautiful as it was tasty. dinner was about $30 for two, (2 burgers, fries, and drinks), which isnt too bad, especially for the utter deliciousness of the food. service was decent.

Reading the reviews here before going, I expected a mediocre meal. I didn't see how anybody could ruin something as simple and delicious as burgers and cupcakes.

To start off, the floor of the place was covered with wood shavings for some reason. After being seated, an cranky pregnant waitress waddled over and begrudgingly took my order. After disappearing for a good half an hour, I got my food. The staff all seem to think they're too good to be working there or something, acting bored, lazy, and stupid. The food was okay (nothing special) and the cupcakes are ridiculously expensive. I paid something like 4 dollars for a cupcake half the size of my fist. Bad service, bad atmosphere (the place is across the street from a sad looking parking area), and average food. Don't bother, not even just for the novelty.

A friend and I stopped in for a couple of cupcakes after eating at Manganero's down the block from this place. The waitress seemed stumped about what to do when customers arrive. The second waitress was busy "chillin'". We did eventually get coffee and a couple of cupcakes (which are like $6 each), and they were great, but the lack of motivation on the part of our stubby waitress was annoying. A visit that should have taken 10-15 minutes was strung out for way too long.

I probably will go back, because the cupcakes are great, especially after a nice hero from Manganero's but I will make it a "to go" order.

This place needs to clean up their act. I was fancying a cupcake one recent saturday afternoon so I walked into the establishment in question, marched right up to the counter with a smile and waited to be served. There were no less than six staff members behind the counter sporting sour apple grimaces on surly faces. The place was empty and they were all just standing around staring at the floor, which made it difficult to get noticed. I had to say, "excuse me" about 4 times to get one of the sourpusses to look up and acknowledge me. In the end, no cupcake is worth that much grief!

This restaurant is WAY WAY WAY too hyped up. First, it took forever for me to get seated when the restaurant was EMPTY. The waiter was not attentive. The cupcake was TINY and DRY and $2. I could make better cupcakes myself out of a BOX. The burger was small and $6 with no fries. I could have been more satisfied at McDonalds, and I don't eat at McDonalds.

We had lunch and cupcakes here. The restaurant is not cozy; it's more like a snack bar, and right across the street from a parking lot. The burgers were good, especially the turkey burgers. They were out of onion rings and several kinds of sodas. We tried almost all the kinds of cupcakes; they were fine, but Magnolia's are better. If you are going here because you want a lunch place in this neighborhood, it's fine; if you are going for cupcakes or burgers, you are better off at a different place.

Pros: Good turkey burgers and bacon

Whoever heard of cupcakes and burgers coming in together? Apparently this is the place to be for such a combination. The cupcakes are huge but aren't as sweet or tasty as one might think. Surprisingly the burgers are decent but they seem to be overpriced a tad. Not worth venturing out for if you ask me.

for whatever reason the restaurant was extremely understaffed. There was only one waitress for about 15 tables. The counter person Robin was the best worker in the whole joint. She was taking phone orders, take out orders, trying to seat people and taking table orders. when the waitress finally took our order after being seated at the table for over 30 minutes only to wait another 45 minutes for food and when the food arrived the order was incomplete. To top that the lone waitress quit during her shift and left the restaurant high and dry! Although the cupcakes are big as Buick that won't save Burgers & Cupcakes; if they don't get their act together in a New York minute they are gonna be a done deal...

So on my week long vacation in New York, I was on the look out for cupcakes. Magnolia's was dissapointing and My Favorite Dessert Co. was alright. My friend and I made the wrong turn looking for the large camera store in the same area and I saw the sign for Burgers and Cupcakes. The restaurant name piqued my interest but the large sign "Say you hate B*sh and get a free cupcake" was the clencher. Free cupcakes and anti-B*sh equals a 10 in my book.

I went with two friends on a Thursday evening, not crowded, plenty of tables. I got a beef patty with cheddar cheese and grilled onions. We shared an order of fries. Then we each got cupcakes. I rarely eat red meat but was in the mood that night and the burger didn't disappoint.
I loved the burger, found the size perfect with the amount of shared fries i had. cooked the way i wanted and juicy. The grilled onions were done not too cooked down but also not undercooked. The fries were skin on, coarse salted and quite delicious. So far so good. Then the cupcakes. i had the chocolate chocolate and found it to be dry and the frosting wasn't good, it was too bitter. My friend has the chocolate vanilla and while she said the cake was dry her frosting was delicious.

overall, i recommend and am interested in trying more of the burger and fry combos as compared to the cupcakes.

So-so service, above average taste but below average size on the burgers, very nice staff ... but I'll keep going back for the cupcakes. My chocolate-with-vanilla-frosting selection was absolutely unbelievable ... the best cupcake I've ever had. Raving about them back at the office, a co-worker who had visited on a separate occasion agreed ... much better than highly touted Magnolia, he said (I haven't been to Magnolia, so I can't compare). B&C's cupcakes are quite a find. Running the risk of having to buy new pants, I'll keep going back.

my bf & i came here yesterday for dinner around 7:30pm it wasnt crowded at all for sunday night so we got our pick of tables. the solitary waitress was friendly though i found her service a little slow. you assemble your own burger by choosing a base meat (beef, chicken, vegetarian, salmon, turkey, $5.95 each) and then add toppings for $1 each. i choose a beef burger with grilled mushrooms and pizza (tomato sauce & mozzarella) toppings, cooked medium. my bf ordered his burger with turkey bacon & pepper jack cheese. the burgers are small, plump, and more meatball than patty. the meat is very juicy, so you risk a soggy bun if you order the patty too undercooked or eat it too slowly. though the quality of the meat was good, i found the patty slightly too bland for my taste since i prefer my burgers with more seasoning. overall, i liked the burgers at b&c less than shake shacks, but i also prefer to avoid the nuisance of hour-long waits common at the latter joint.

we also ordered regular fries ($2) and chili cheese fries ($4) with our meal. the fries, thin-cut, salted, and skin-on, were crispy, browned, and hot. they were also very plentiful one order should be enough for two people. the chili cheese fries were also really good and came topped with mild chili and cheese. they were a little messy, and we ended up devouring the basket with our forks.

unfortunately, they had sold out of cupcakes since the afternoon, so i didnt get a chance to try the second item in their namesake. we were stuffed though, and the cupcakes gives us a good excuse to go there again.

Stumbled upon this place accidentally and was pleasantly surprised - wonderful, juicy, burgers (small in size but great flavor), good brunch (limited menu, but good omelets), and delicious cupcakes! I'm not a big cupcake fan, but the icing made the whole thing. It's definitely worth a try - and it's cheap!

I thought this place was adorable. A different kind of place to dine. The cupcakes taste as good as they look!! Not too expensive either. And if your not a big meat eater they have turkey and veggie burgers. I would really recommend treating yourself one day, you'll enjoy the experience!!

I stopped in here the other day and what a great surprise. Very simple menu made it easy to choose and the burger I got was great. If you have a sweet tooth this is also the place for you. They have a huge assortment of cupcakes and other desserts that won't have you leaving hungry.
