I needed to go to the Nintendo World store to pick up a gift for a friend, who is a big Nintendo DS fan. I could have just ordered what I wanted on-line, but I??ve always wanted to check out the Nintendo Store, so I made the trip. It was awesome! I admit, I??m a gamer, but I don??t have any Nintendo products...this needs to change! The store was nicely laid out and clean--which doesn't happen too often in a place where you can demo the games and game systems, usually there??s a filthy broken controller hanging off of a display case, with a broken game looping on a tv screen. Not at the Nintendo store though, everything worked, the staff was really nice and smiley, but not in a creepy way.

I also loved the museum part of the store; looking at all of the original Nintendo stuff made me nostalgic, and also realize how cool Nintendo always was. They??ve always tried to take video games and make them more accessible to people who may not play video games. Great stuff, great store, great experience. I??d recommend this to anyone who just wants to experience something new.

I love games of all kinds, so it wasn??t surprising that I found myself in the Nintendo World Store. But what did surprise me was that it was sooo much fun. I actually just ducked in there to get a copy of the Mario Sports Mix for my nephew, and left with a Nintendo 3D for myself. The store was super sleek, kind of like being in a video game, and mad fun. I checked out demos of the newest games at stations sporting large flat screen TV??s.

But that??s not all I took a tour of the Nintendo museum, and checked out the ??gear? they were selling, and walked away with a few things. The staff was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive, being totally ok with my endless sampling of the games. I could have spent hours there but I had to run back to work, but I??ll be back again with my nephew but I??m sure it will cost me.

Being a girl, I have very little video game know how. And by little I mean none. When the time came to buy my little cousin a birthday present (per the demands of my mother) I thought about what little boys like. Something baseball related could be a good idea, but the kid is so spoiled he probably has every baseball related item in existence. So my thoughts turned to a gift that would simultaneously enthrall him and make my aunt and uncle grimace: video games. Once upon a time, I owned a Playstation, and played Frogger so much that my mother had to eventually take it away from me so that I would do my homework. When I walked into the Nintendo World Store yesterday, I knew I had found the solution to my problem. The Nintendo World Store website autobiographically describes itself as ??a gaming paradise in the middle of New York City? and I can think of no better description. With its futuristic interior design and glowing neon blue lights, the store makes you feel like you??ve embarked on a trip to Mars. Or like you??ve dropped some acid. Either way, the staff was incredibly friendly, informed, helpful, and cute in a nerdy ??I still live with my mother but I smoke a lot of weed so it??s okay? kind of way. I wound up choosing a gift that married my initial idea to give a sports related gift with something that would most definitely annoy his parents as well as keep him engaged and distracted for hours should I ever have to baby-sit. It??s called the Mario sports mix, and it??s a wonderfully nostalgic throwback to my college days of playing Mario Kart at frat houses while being surrounded by copious amounts of marijuana. I wonder why video gaming correlates so well with drug use. Way to go, Nintendo. And way to go me, for being the coolest cousin ever.

My siblings and I stopped by here when we went to New York. The store is small so they don't offer a lot of variety. The first floor for example is completely devoted to Pokemon which is good for Pokemon fans, but for others you'll have to go upstairs. Also on the first floor is a DS playing circle so one can spend time here playing DS games with other people. On the second floor are many flat screen tvs and wii systems you can play which is the best part of this store.

Also on the second floor they sell nintendo plushies which was my main goal for the trip. I was disappointed that they didn't have a Link plushie but nonetheless I enjoyed looking at the different types of DS systems they had displayed. They also sell shirts on the second floor and despite its price I was tempted to buy one. For me, it was a good store to browse through. For nintendo fans I highly recommend it.
