I have been going to Flor De Sol for over 8 years celebrating my birthday and many dates and girls night out there. I made Friday reservations there last week and had to return several dishes for being undercooked, and/or cold. The worse part was the waiter ignored us and even went so far to tell us "NO" when we asked to change something on our order only seconds after he entered the order into the computer. He then handed our 150 dollar check without us even asking for it...so rude!!! Too many option in NYC to go back here.

Flor de Sol is always rated extremely high so I knew I needed to check it out. Overall I had a decent time, but it's not one of the best spots in town, not even in the top ten. Food was decent but not outstanding and the portions were small.

I thought it was excellent. The attention to detail both in execution & presentation was impeccable as was the service. All the dishes were perfectly sized for sharing & delicious. My friend and I shared 3 "small plates" and 1 dessert with a couple glasses of wine. And, we did not feel stuffed, just pleasantly full.

This place is priced about right for the quality. I will definitely come back again to try more dishes.

We decided to go there to celebrate my brother's birthday. Forget about the fact that we had to signal the waiter for water or bread every time (there were about 10 of us), or the fact that they wouldn't clear away the plates (at a tapas place you'd expect that), or that the food was barely passable- perhaps that is why they served such small portions- too much and you wouldn't order anything else. The thing that we all thought was hilarious?? Every 5 minutes or so the waiter would come around and very loudly ask "ANYONE NEED ANY MORE DRINKS?" We finally joined in with him to keep our sanity. A real disappointment. Luckily in New York, other truly great choices abound. Steer clear of this dump.

My last experience was horrible. Usually good food and service but this time around not only was service slow but they also lost my leather gloves. The manager gave me his card as they were busy and said he'd call to let me know if they found my gloves. Long story short after several attempts to get the manager no response. Not only will I not be going back but I'm actively letting other folks know buyer beware!!!!!!!

I've been here serveral times and each time the service and food were fantastic. The astmosphere is cozy and romantic, i would reccomend going on a night where they have a flamenco preformance. If you go make sure to save room dessert and order the dulce de leche cake!

We had an early reservation (6:30pm) on a Friday evening. The restaurant was empty but they sat me and my two friends at a table in the middle of the room next to all the bar patrons and the service section of the bar. We asked to be moved to a table away from the people standing with drinks hovering over our shoulders but we were told that wasn't possible.

It took 20 minutes for them to bring bread to the table and to ask if we wanted our empty drinks to be refreshed. Two of our meals were brought to the table so cold that we had to send them back to the kitchen. We sat for almost 40 minutes with our second drinks completely empty without any prompting from the waiter.

There was a couple who sat next to us with their drinks from the bar. They sat for only 15 minutes and after being ignored by the waiter, they got up and left.

Cons: service service service is horrible

Have been here a few times on weekday nights. I love sangria so I usually get a pitcher of the red here- I think its excellent, it has a lot of fresh fruit, and is not too strong or too weak. The tapas are pretty good, I recommend the chicken croquettas. My favorite part however is the live music and the setting, they have a guitar player and one or two dancers perform in the evenings which I love, they're really talented. The decor and lighting is also perfect for a relaxing night out.

Best tapas I have had in a city. The flamenco show is very good as well. The atmosphere is very lively. If you want to see the flamenco dancer perform, when making reservations, ask for a table facing the little stage. Otherwise, you might have a side view and you will end up twisting your neck all evening long. Red sangria is very good. Choose about 5 tapas for 2 people and you won't be disappointed with the amount of food. Shrimp ceviche is so good.

The tapas here are really good but small, so order one more than you think you should. My date and I split a pitcher of white sangria which was very good. Only drawback is the loud flamenco dancers, which for the first 15-20 minutes are entertaining but after that just get annoying. Sit outside if a table is open and definitely make a reservation for a Thursday night.

Flor De Sol has live music practically every night!! I've been here so many time i can't even count.....the atmoshphere is great, tapas are delicious, and if ur looking for a romantic setting this is deff one of those places! If ur looking to go on a Friday & Saturday night, deff make reservations, u won't even get a seat at the bar, that is how crowded it can gets during the live Flamenco performances. Weeknights you are pretty safe to pop by with out a reservation.... I deff recommend this place..enjoy!!!

I've been here a couple times. Just ok. I really like some of the atmosphere, but the tables are too close and feel crowded. THe service is spotty, sometimes very good, sometimes not. This past time I made a reservation, with a credit card, and came in several hours later for dinner and they had no record of the reservations. A bit rude about it. THey said they'd have a table for us, then forgot us, and finally sat us. The food is pretty good most of the time, but nothing really notable. Their sister restaurant, Son Cubanos, has much better tapas. OVeral, nothing to rave about.

Went to Flor De Sol with my dearest friend but only that was enjoyable.  We arrived on a Friday and after sangria and tapas were given our check although we had not asked for it.  Put off by this (we wanted entrees) we asked for the menus again. 5 minutes later a waiter approached "we have a slight problem - we have a table to 8 coming need these seats, would you move to a table on the stage?" Followed by "we need the table by 9:30". No one helped us move to the new table (which by the way was a small table and a small wooden chair. Never did a table of 8 come in. The area was then filled up with 4 tables of 2.  Service was rude.  Poor showing. Turned off. _________________________________________________________________

Upon entering the space, the atmosphere consumes you; the dimly lit room has exposed brick walls covered with small candles and spanish artwork. There's a long bar which serves the full menu and a bunch of tightly-packed tables consume the remaining floor space. While it is quite tight, the food is delicious... I stuck w Tapas and got the shrimp/garlic butter, escargot, cured ham, and churrasco -- all were a solid 8/10. My buddy got the sardines and is STILL raving about them 3 days later... I would certainly recommend going -- especially if you've got a group or b-day party. Great service from the waitstaff and maitre'd as well.

Flor de Sol is a lot of fun, from the romantic yet raucous atmosphere to the incredibly talented live flamenco musicians. The food is tasty--not great-- but there are many choices from tapas to entrees, including vegetables, meat, and fish. I especially recommend the sauteed spicy mushrooms, chorizo, calamari and octopus. Definitely try the tres leches for dessert. Our waiter was a bit confused, and plates did not necessarily come out together or in the right order. But they make excellent house sangria (choice of red or white), and charge reasonable prices for a good time in such a trendy neigborhood.

I read all the reviews and was a little worried, but I had a recommendation from a few trusted friends and am so glad I listened to them. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and the experience could not have been more wonderful. The food was great. The services was laid-back, but I like that. They let us sit and enjoy ourselves and not be rushed. Even when the place filled up, they told us to take our time. Drinks were great and the food is amazing. The neighborhood is great and the band was perfectly suited for the atmosphere. My experience was wonderful and I would definitely send people there.

I took 2 friends from out of town here because I'd been twice before and had great experiences. This past Saturday was a different story however... We had a 9:00 reservation and were finally seated at 10:15 after asking about our table twice. Then the service was extremely slow. The waiter was very friendly and the sangria and food were great... I don't even think I would have minded waiting at the bar for over an hour if it weren't so crowded and if they had little tapas for the hungry people forced to wait!

I and my friends enjoyed the atmosphere and the food, both very much. Everything we ordered was great and the place has both a great look and feel to it. Myself and my entire party had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The only slight negative point, would be the music was a bit loud, which made it a bit too difficult to converse throughout the evening. Combined with the crowd noise it was a little loud. My suggestion to management would be to tone down the level of music slightly, but other than that it was a great time.

if you love tapas and you don't mind a rude and inattentive staff of employees, then flor de sol is the place for you. it's such a shame because i've been here several times hoping i'll enjoy the experience a little more, but every time i'm disappointed by the service. the food is definitely good and the atmosphere is lively, but it certainly doesn't seem to be worth the amount of attitude that greets you at the door.

I have been here a couple of times and I would recommend this place to anyone. If you plan on having dinner and would like to try the tapas, the Tapas Mixta is the way to go. They give you a little bit of everything and the portions are big for tapas. It's perfect for 2-4 people. I love their Sangria ...so that is a must. They must have 1/2 dozen different flavors but I always stick to the classic. If you love Spanish food...give this place a try!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I go at least once a week. The waiters are always cute, and friendly and the food is delicious. You must have a pitcher of the sangria with your meal, it gives the food an added zing! The atmosphere is very romantic. The entire place is lite only with candles. It is a very cozy environment. And once a week or so you can have your meal with the sounds of live soothing music playing in the background.

although small, the service and food is incredible. Their selection of Tapas is huge, and their entrees are large, delicious portions. The staff is extremely pleasent as well. A must for spanish food lovers or for those who are looking for a change. The extensive choices are sure to please everyones tastes.

Pros: excellent food, great service, good music

Cons: small quarters, slightly expensive

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because it looked really nice from the outside. There were a whole slew of waiters working that night but no one seemed to really pay attention or care about us. Their paella was awful, boiled seafood on a bed of rice....unwashed and very dirty mussels, clams & scallops. A shrimp dish that was boiled and in a sauce that tasted like unflavored jello.....an insult to authentic Spanish cuisine.

This Mediterranean spot in TriBeCa serves up bibulous meals and has great drink specials ($6 martinis on Thursday nights, anyone?). The red and white sangrias nicely complement the fare at this cozy brick-walled Spanish-Mediterranean…
