The urban Mediterranean vibe that echoes throughout the restaurant transposed itself right to the plate. We were able to taste not one, but three different olive oils to go with our bread, which was a memorable feature. We started with the steak tartare, which I had never had before but definitely will again, and the zucchini carpacchio. The portions were good-sized and very tasty. I had the Tuscan style cod with root vegetables for my entree and again, the portion was quite large, which is surprising because I've often experienced smaller sized meals for special menu deals. For dessert we split the strawberry shortbread cookies and the chocolate pot de creme. The cookies disappeared in about two seconds and I'm ashamed to say we couldn't quite finish the chocolate, it was very heavy. The service was attentive and fun, they even brought us each a glass of dessert wine when they realized they forgot to bring spoons for our dessert. I would return here when I'm in the mood for a trendy dinner in the future.

I ate at Fig & Olive for the first time yesterday evening. The restaurant, located in New York's former meat packing district, has 15 foot ceilings and is stunning. The restaurant had no less than 200 candles burning at the bar, on the tables and on wall mounted candle sconces. There were planters filled with fresh rosemary. Your first impression is incredible.

The staff was accessible, polite. When we arrived, we were immediately seated at a corner table. We asked the waitress for a wine recommendation. She chose wisely...terrific.

The branzino and the paella were excellent - both original and tasty. I also loved the desert as well as the mushroom/truffle soup. Try the Price Fixe Menu - A New York bargain!

This is seriously one of the nicest restaurant spaces I've been in recently. The food is good too, but it's the enormous bar that cuts the room in two and the high ceilings and spaced out tables that really did it for me here.

I had a bruch there with my husband last week and was very disapointed. As much as I love food in their other location on Lex. avenue, the food in this restaurant was not tasty, not fresh and the presentation was poor.Mashroom soup was luke warm and texture was odd, steak tartare was prepared way in advance so color was bad ( almost greyish), crostini with shrimp and avocado were tasteless. I would never go back to this location!!

I attended the restaurant on a Friday night with a girlfriend intending to catch up with her over dinner conversation. We were greeted at the door by the hostess who rudely said we had no reservation eventhough we made one online through Opentable. The next day I was contacted by Opentable to say that I didn't honor the reservation! Go figure. The music was so loud that we could not converse over dinner. The appetizers was delicious, mouthwatering crostinis. The fig spread with almonds and manchego cheese was a winner. Bell peppers with goat cheese equally good. The dinner salads were spectacular, gourmet cuisine with good presentation. Poor service simply because the place was packed and the poor waiters were bustling as humanly possible. I would go there again, maybe with earplugs!

Great place for a cocktail and great food. Get the prosciutto w.melon, it's to die for. The cheese plate is complementary to many of their wines as well. Beautiful atmosphere and a hip place to dine!

I have never written a review before, but felt I had to call out the rude and aggressive service we got at Fig & Olive. I went with a group of 8, we weren't all there at our reservation time (our bad), so we waited at the bar and between the 6 of us spent about $100 on drinks. Once at the table, we ordered our appetizers (crostinis, croquettes, gazapachos, ceviche) and asked the waiter to come back for our entree order, as we hadn't decide yet. By the time he came back we were mostly through our apps (about 25 minutes later), we were pretty full on all that (about $160 worth of appetizers/wine) and not interested in more food. Had he come back in a reasonable time frame, might not have played out that way. He was so annoyed that we were done that the bus staff started aggressively clearing and resetting the table in front of us, before we had even gotten a check. It's one thing if we're lingering over an unpaid bill, but this was not the case. Even then, I have never, ever had a restaurant set a table while you're still sitting there. There were other minor annoyances like asking for plates three times so we could eat the apps. Never came. Also requested olive oil, never came. Bottle of sparkling water. Never came. We spent $330 in the restaurant/bar and were treated like we were nursing a $2 coffee for 4 hours at a diner. It's not a ton of money for that many people, but again, had he actually come back to take our order, we would have probably spent twice that amount. I have waited tables, I know servers are reliant on tips, I know they hate big parties, I know they're trying to turn over tables, but this was absolutely the rudest service I have ever received anywhere. Period. The server gave us a flick of the hand as we left, as in good riddance. For that, he got a 20% tip that the manager added to our bill. As we were leaving, I spoke to the manager. I got a nice, but transparently insincere explanation, that it's restaurant week and they were under a lot of pressure. He pretended he didn't know what table we were, but admitted that he added the service charge, probably to assuage the server who was expecting a bigger bill. Guess because the restaurant is packed (and incredibly loud), they feel they can treat guests that way. Tremendously short-sighted strategy.

Pros: Lovely decor, and olive oil

Cons: Waitstaff rushed us

The place was beautiful: Modern, lots of open space, simple, herb topiaries, a beautiful display/storage unit for their wine. The service was also decent -- the guy was nice, not snotty (for this part of town, I expect snotty & bitchy) and knew the menu very well. The food was equally delicious. The array of oils were interesting, the crostinis were awesome, and the lamb wasn't dry. A job well done.

My boyfriend and I went to Fig & Olive by recommendation of one of our friends. It was OK - nothing spectacular. I guess you are paying for the atmosphere and the fact that it's in Meatpacking. I would eat there again, but I'm not in a hurry.

I have been to fig and olive on many occasions, My fiance and I love it so we decided to spend valentines day there. Walking in and being greeted by a very friendly face at the door, I was accomanied to my beautiful table. A cozy and romantic enviorment and I must say that the decorations had such detail. My fiance ordered the lobster and thought it was so succulent, I ordered the "truffle rissoto" and the truffle had such an earthy flavor to it it was absolutely delicous. I am never disapointed by the way they use truffle in some of their dishes. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and savory. I recommend fig and olive to everyone who wants to walk out of a restaurant feeling completely and utterly satisfied. Its one of my favorites and Im planning to do my bridal shower there in May.

Pros: good music, great service, tastefull food of great quality and value.

Cons: took some time for our drinks to come

Great place to go before party, food is perfect never heavy, nothing is fried.
My girlfriend love the "Crostini" and the seared Salmon is my favorite, everytime we can't resist to have "chocolate souffle". We go twice a month and never been disappointed, service friendly and dynamic.
Best deal in meatpacking

the appetizers and salads are better than the entrees...the food tasty but nothing memorable...the service is ok...great location downtown, great space....but during our meal there was LOUD club music playing which we asked our waiter to turn down during our meal...he replied that the restaurant turns into a lounge/club atmosphere later in the evening...i'm not "in the scene" anymore but considering that we were having dinner at 6:00 with children, and hardly anyone else in the restaurant, there was no reason to blast music that loudly...

I ordered the lamb medium rare. First time it came out well and when I sent it back (which I never do but this was way over cooked) the waiter brought back raw, cold lamb that was slightly seared on the outside. Obviously intentional rebuke from the cook staff. The waiter gave me a bunch of attitude about it. Ended up paying for the meal but left it on my plate. TERRIBLE PLACE!

It's not only a good place to eat, but everyone is finished eating, you can drink and dance with your buds.
Wonderful. I went here last night and had a great time (high-end clientele, Excellent Music). The food was lovely and the drinks wonderful. Beautiful people in a very well designed place with a stunning interior makes the whole experience memorable. I enjoyed it and will definitely go back soon.

Met 2 girlfriends for dinner here on Monday night. I walked inside the bar entrance, obviously looking around for someone. Bartender couldnt be bothered. Went over to reservations table where I waited another 5-7 minutes until they seated me. It was about 10 minutes before the waiter took our drink order and another 10 until they were served. The restaurant was not full, nor was the bar. Crostini were painfully tiny and unordinary. Appetizers were okay, though the yellowtail carpaccio was completely overpowered by sesame - not olive - oil. After another long interval (20-30 mins maybe?) entrees arrived. One friend had the linguini with scallops that was a) overcooked and b) tasted of absolutely nothing, except maybe something one would cook up in a college dorm room. The olive tapenade seemed to be missing. The bronzino was fishy and the polenta gummy. Not sure what part the special olive oils played in any of these dishes. We had to ask a manager for our desserts when the waiter went missing, though our check arrived minutes after requesting it. For bridge and tunnelers or meat packing tourists who are looking for a vegas vibe, this place might be fine. For anyone wanting a good meal and positive dining experience, go elsewhere.

I went here the other night with a co-worker and loved all the food! We shared a variety of appetizers, all which were great!! Our waiter, on the other hand, was very nice but a complete idiot. First, he tried to pour our wine without taking the CORK out.. yeah no joke.. he seemed really scatter brained and rushed and like he just had no idea what was happening. My friend ordered the mediterranian sampler, which actually was good, but very small. I did order the lamb chops, but the waiter ordered the wrong dish and I ended up with the lamb shish kebab skewers. Now, the skewers were good, but the fact that he got my order wrong was really annoying. When I told him it was wrong he said "well, they're $10 cheaper and actually better so you lucked out!" he did offer to change it, but informed me that it would take a long time to get the right dish because he had "never seen a slower kitchen in his life". so overall great food, great drinks, not so great service!

Attended a birthday dinner with 6 others last Saturday night. Food was decent, & thought the waitress was very attentive and helpful, especially when their smoke alarm kept going off throughout dinner. Unfortunately, they charged my debit card twice - once for my portion of the bill, once for the remainder of the entire group bill! I had to call 6 times to get this mistake corrected. The first manager I spoke with, Olivia, tried to tell me that ALL banks in Manhattan hold the full bill amount on each card when they split the check. The second manager I spoke with, a Ms. Hanson, tried to say that only MY bank (Wachovia) does this, but promised she would call Wachovia to correct the mistake, thus releasing the funds being held. Not only did she call me back and LIE, saying she had corrected the problem with Wachovia (after first complaining to me that Wachovia had the audacity to place her on hold) when in fact she had not called them, but she also said that I should be content to wait 4-5 days for the check hold to drop off my acct, saying that "MOST of our customers are fine with that." So basically she implied that I must be poor because I didn't want hundreds of dollars being held for 4-5 days because of THEIR mistake!!!! For being in the hospitality industry, her customer service skills could certainly use some improvement. Good luck splitting a check here! I won't be taking my business or my debit card back to Fig & Olive.

I like this place: the location, decor and food. Service was a bit on the slow side but, more than anything, this place is LOUD. Be prepared to shout all evening at your tablemates and if you're in a large group, don't count on being in on any conversation more than one person away from you. We were a group of six women and would have had a MUCH better time if the music were turned down a lot, especially since at least one of us had a cold. On the other hand, if you're dining with someone who's a poor conversationalist but looks great, this place is perfect! You can look at them amidst nice ambience over a good meal and check out everyone else as it's semi-interesting people watching.

You all know that it is hard to book a dinner for a large group in the trendy venues of the Meatpacking District. Well, Fig and Olive is definitely an exception! They have a very efficient reservation service and they made my life so simple when I tried to book a dinner for my party of 18! I simply had to give them my menu selection and everything was ready when my friends and I got there. We had a personalized menu printed out on our table and the service was excellent. The waiters were very knowledgeable and took very good care of us. I personally had the pollo profumo and it was simply delicious! Every single one of my friends enjoyed the food and the venue. We will surely go back there soon! If you have a large group of friends and desperately look for a venue that can accommodate you then be sure to check out Fig & Olive!

I went to Fig & Olive in the Meatpacking for my birthday, I had about 15 of friends with me and we worked with the restaurant's special events coordinator. She helped me planned everything details from the cocktails we had to the menu selections. I work all day and it was great that everything was done via e-mail and my party turned out exactly the way I wanted. My friends and I were impressed and the impeccable service continued at the restaurant as well. The servers were excellent. The food was great as well. We had the Crostinis which is great fun for parties. My most favorite dish for that evening was the Fig & Olive Salad. My friends and I are defenitely going back!

Last weekend I was at the downtown location of this Mediterranean restaurant called Fig & Olive for my engagement party. I was nervous as the Meatpacking location is usually super crowded on a Saturday evening and I had a mix of guests, including my parents, relatives, older family friends and the younger crowd of friends my age, so I wanted everything to go perfectly. As it turns out I was overjoyed! Everything turned out beautifully and it was a perfect night that I will always remember. We rented out the area called "the platform" which I was informed about when I called the event reservation number, for parties of 8 or more...we were 52! It was perfect as it was semi-secluded but you could still feel the ambience of the entire room. We had a champagne toast when everyone arrived and delicious passed hors d'oeuvres including many different crostinis. Then there were light stations set up with food and cheese and charcuterie trays, just like being in France, delicious! I was thrilled and the staff was so accommodating and wonderful. My guests, of all ages, had a great time and my fiance and I will never forget this night. The events team was so helpful in helping us choose the passed hors d'oeuvres and stationery items as well as a signature cocktail which we had named after us...I will be back soon for sure.

Pros: Great for private event! great service!

Cons: Meatpacking District can be hard to park

I went to Fig & Olive last weekend for a girls night out in honor to celebrate my best friend's engagement and I had a wonderful experience..The food was stunning- I really recommend the Penne Mediterraneo, a true jewel from the Mediterranean..The service was really professional, we had an amazing waiter- he was a great teacher on olive oil and was great to recommend the wine- we ended up with a great bottle of red wine from the Cote Du Rhone! I will definitely go back- probably for Valentine's Day- their menu looks great after looking up where to go on Citysearch..

I recently booked a party here for about 35 people that I had requested lat 3 - 4 hours and would be primarily drinks that I asked to be cash bar but I would order some food. I was constantly told "no problem" but because I was not getting any real information from the event staff I confirmed EVERYTHING in email and was still told "no problem." The night before I got an email from the staff saying they were busy the next night and we would have to give up our area after 2 hours. When I spoke to the manager she said - yes I heard but I did not promise the table and that all drinks had to be covered on no more than 3 credit cards. The only redeeming thing was the great service we got from the waiter. However, the food was not great and the drinks were weak. In total we spent over $1000 ane we still had to move to a very small area at 9:30.

We went to the Fig and Olive, based on the recommendations in citysearch. Overall the food was average, the hostess prompt, however the drinks made by the bartender were a disaster and ruined our evening. We asked for single malt whisky and were served the most watered down whisky that we have ever been served in NYC. At $15 a drink, the least they can do is not 'penny pinch'. When we mentioned this to the hostess, we were told that the owners have been keeping a close watch on the bar and that was the reason for the whisky being watered down. Since it was akin to having coloured water, we asked the hostess to give us whisky neat , with ice in a separate glass. Again, we barely got any whisky, and to add insult to injury the restaurant charged us $2 extra per glass, as it was on the rocks. This is ridiculous. Ruined our dining experience. Never going back again. Not recommended. There are better places in the neighbourhood and the owners are into 'penny pinching'.

I went to Fig & Olive for lunch...for the second time. The first time was in November. I was struck, once again as I walked in, at the beauty of this place. It's so open and airy...makes you feel like you're somewhere else--like the South of France! The three olive oils our server put down for us to try were really interesting and delicate. I had the fig and olive salad with ripe, lovely figs, goat cheese, a nice mellow blue cheese, apple and lots of greens. Perfect for lunch. Next time I'll go for dinner. Definitely a new favorite!

Highly recommend this place. Beautiful space, prompt seating and friendly service. Trendy but not pretentious like some of the inferior restaurants in the neighborhood. The food is great - love the appetizer with figs, goat cheese and jamon serrano - YUM! The lamb skewers and roasted chicken dishes are both delicious. Been here three times, and quality was very consistent...will definitely come back.

took a client here tonight on R.'s recommendation. the space is gorgeous, large and great lighting. I didn't care for the layout of where they sat me though; perhaps if I got one of the seats aligned against the wall it would've been better. we started off w/ crostinis:

shrimp & avocado - gross, the shrimp was cold and rubbery, not seasoned at all, blah

Manchego, Fig Spread, Marcona Almond - good but a bit too much fig spread

Prosciutto, Ricotta, Fig Tapenade - delicious, should've just chose 3 of this

we also shared the YELLOW FIN TUNA CARPACCIO
(tuna, 18 year balsamic vinegar, sesame oil, cilantro arugula, lemon, marcona almond) - DELICIOUS! I could've eaten all of this on my own, 'don't touch my tuna!'

for entree we both got the steak special w/ herb butter which was ok but definitely nothing special, i thought it was a tough cut of beef

I loved the ambience though the place can get a bit loud. I would come back just for the tuna carpaccio

The table was ready on time and the wait staff was eagerly attentive. While the signature salad didn't live up to expectations (too much of a green onion taste), the sole en papillote was succulent and light and just perfect with a little olive oil and sea salt. The side of mashed potatoes was dense and almost not elegant enough. The dish would have been better with polenta. There were a couple of hiccups - appetizers brought before tapas were done coupled with the too small table make the first course uncomfortable. Overall, though, a good place for a girl's night out, but not a romantic dinner for two.

I wanted to have a meal that would take me back to my vacation this summer in the south of France. Fig and Olive was the perfect choice for that. The food, the service and the atmosphere was phenomenal. It was me and my boyfriend, for starters we had the Crab Croquettes, it was a sharing dish which was great and fun for us. The dish was perfect, the crab just melted in your mouth. For the main course I had the Fig&Olive Mediterranean Tasting, it was wonderful. I was able to taste a little bit of everything I loved about Mediterranean food. The other main course we had was the Lamb with Honey Glaze. It was perfectly prepared. With the meal we drank Cotes de Rhone read wine, it was perfect to accompany the meal. I don't like very heavy wines and this one wasn't. The meal was to die for and it really took me back to all the wonderful experiences I had during my trips. The service was impeccable and really added to the experience. I will definitely be going back and trying out the rest of their menu.

Well, it looks like I'm not the only one who enjoyed having dinner at this wonderful Mediterranean restaurant! Great staff, really nice environment (I love the way the interior is designed!), amazing food! My friends and I started off with a variety of olives and a plate of cheese, two perfect light appetizers that leave enough room for the delicious entrees offered in the menu. Being a big fan of chicken I had the pollo profumo di maggiorana and it was exquisite! One of my friends had the salmon and my other friend had the seafood salad, and they both loved their main course. Along this wonderful dinner we enjoyed a succulent white, a Chateau de Sancerre 2004 from the Loire Valley, suggested by our very competent, yet very nice, waiter.
Our night at Fig &Olive was definitely delightful and we will be back there very soon! If you haven't tried it yet, you should go take a look because it's really worth it!

I went there with my friends and we had a very good time! The food was delicious! We started with the Bresaola and Goat Cheese crostinis follow by a mixed of charcuterie. It was sooo good! I'm a huge lover of soup so I tried the Butternut Squash while we' were drinking an unbelievable Cahors...hum red wine there is nothing as good as red wine especially the Cahors. Our waiter was really cute and competent! He was fast, and nice.As for the main meal, I personally chose the Pumpkin ravioli which I was really surprised how tasty it was!The portion was perfect, I was full but not too full! One of my friend tried the salmon and according to her it was one of the best she had ever taste ( she is a huge fan of any kind of fishes and salmons) and she also got the Crab croquettes! Putting everything together is making me realize how much we ate!!!! My boyfriend is usually a pasta, sandwich and meat lovers but he found what he was looking for at Fig & Olive! He got the Mediterranean plates with the chicken, lamb and shrimp. He was thrilled, the portion was pretty big! To be completely honest as it is in the Meatpacking district, I was a little worried!! I though it will be fancy and cold but nope great surprise the staff was friendly and the venue is really beautiful!

I recently visited Fig & Olive in the Meatpacking District after my friend informed me that this is her new favorite restaurant! I was immediately excited by the energy level and vibe when I walked in the door. I was greeted by two nice hostesses and then taken to the bar where I was waiting for my friends to join me. I asked for a mojito, my favorite drink and enjoyed this while people watching. The room was bustling. My friends arrived and we sat right away at a nice table in the corner. The waiter was very friendly and brought us a trio of olive oils that he explained along with some warm bread. The olive oils were delicious. I asked if they sold them at the restaurant and was told they did-how fantastic! Then we ordered a lot of different plates to share..my favorite was the fig/jamon/goat cheese carpaccio, delicious and a perfect size to share. We also ordered the beed carpaccio, which normally I don't like, but it was also wonderful-very light and tasty. And we shared a tasting plate with the most delectable hummus I have ever had! My main course came out next..a whole branzino fish, which I love, for just $19. I thought I read the menu wrong but no, this was a whole fish, at a bargain at such a great place in the trendiest neighborhood in Manhattan. The waiter suggested some desserts, which I personally didn't need but again, was pleasantly surprised. The portions are very generous, with a great wine selection and friendly, fun atmosphere! I am dying to go back....

We've been to this place 4 times - once for my birthday, twice for get-togethers during the week, and once for a friend's birthday. The service has always been good and the food superb. Great twist on the plethora of Mediterranean cuisines. Can be loud during the week, and the acoustics are not good if you're looking for a more romantic scene - except on Sunday afternoons just before the typical dinner crowd. Fantastic hummus!

I like this restaurant in concept, a great Mediterranian restaurant with fresh figs, olives and olive oil; however, the mediocre menu and poor service failed to meet my expectations. The olive plate was microscopic. Likewise, the olive oil sampler was tiny and the Fig & Olive barely brought enough bread for the six of us. In fact it took three hours for my party to make it through all of our courses. It didn't help that the server overcharged us multiple times. The one saving grave was the apple crisp and espressos.

As a former employee of F&O I can finally speak up. While some of these reviews are quite accurate some of you are totally off the mark and have clearly never waited tables in your life. Futhermore New Yorkers are like children. You are the most needy people in restaurants. GROW UP! This is a personal response to artichoke78 as I was your server and you were so nasty and rude that your friend was ashamed of your behavior. it is our job to clear your table and when you still have your bowl in front of you when you get your dessert it is clear you just wanted to be in control. I was nothing but nice to you. Get a life. I pity any restaurant who has to deal with you. Learn how to respect your servers and next time don't order one freakin' bowl of pasta to share!!! Another problem at F&O, many of you darling customers don't seem to think you should tip well, especially those from European countries who pretend that they don't know. How rude are you! The service could definitly improve but so could the customers attitudes so excuse some people if you're the 12th nasty rude person bringing in your outside drama, that we've had to deal with in an hour. Give them a break and I'm sure they will be nice. The food is another issue. Take care.

Went there for brunch and the food was just ok ,for the price tag it should have been much better! I can't say that the service was better either, the food took way too long. Hey I can wait 30 maybe 40 minutes for my food. But when it take almost an hour, there is a problem.

Hopefully they can get their act together, its a really nice space and location. However, looks and location won't pay the rent.

I've been to both locations, and while the one in meatpacking is more spacious and tries to be hip, I neither got a hip nor cozy vibe, just an awkward in-between-ness. The crostini was decent, the antipasti platter just so so. My friend and I ordered the lobster pasta, mine you there were about 4 small pieces of lobster and a ton of pasta, an old trick that gets a little annoying when they're charging you $25 a bowl. I got the cookies and cream dessert, and while the presentation was pretty the food itself was below average. The staff was also rude and hurried, coming over multiple times to try to clear our plates and get us to leave even though there were a ton of empty tables around. Not to mention the screaming baby at another table whose parents didn't seem to care that they were disturbing everyone and that everyone kept looking over. Overall, an unpleasant, annoying experience for food that's just so so. I'd rather pay more and have a great night out.

Like the previous reviewer, I also agree that the decore was beautiful! The service was excellent and I was seated right away. The crostini I also enjoyed and the drink menus were terrific. The entrees were horrible. I have been there twice and after the second time I have decided it is the place to go for drinks and app's before going to dinner somewhere else. The pasta dishes were tasteless as was the fish. So if you just want a glass of wine, a great martini and some fabulous app's (inexpensive too!) this is the place. Planning a great dinner I sugggest you go somewhere else.

Fig & Olive Downtown is the best place to go for delicious, mediterranean ,cheap food and good service!!! I often go there and i always enjoy the experience. I love this place, and I am absolutely addicted to their appetizing crostini and their great proscuito melon carpaccio, which is not to be missed! The ambiance is great and the place is beautiful, their decor is fabulous.. This is definitely one of the best NYC spot to have a great diner and a good time. Last time I went I had the pleasure to discover their outdoor patio and I really enjoyed drinking my delicious cocktail under the sun of Manhattan. Perfect! I highly recommand this place!

I like the previous reviewer: "I am cheap & picky". Fig & Olive is a great place for that person and the masses. It seemed like a chain restaurant. The space is beautiful w/ olive trees & rosemary bushes everywhere, quite stylish. The crowd is super young, but so is everything in the meat packing district. The crostini was really great, but the rest of the meal went way downhill. Tuna carpaccio was barely tuna, it was drowned in balsamic vinegar and WAY TOO MUCH dressing, you could not even distinguish the thin slices of tuna. The cod was decent, but my salad w/ roasted chicken was inedible. Freezing cold chicken, w/ lettuce, again, DROWNED in dressing. I will say the wine list is excellent. So if you just want a glass of wine, some crostini w/ nice toppings in a pretty space, that is INEXPENSIVE, then this is for you. Have fun!

Been there twice for a party of 4 and it was great both times. The wait staff is extremely friendly and prompt and the food is great. Ordered the tasting menu antipasti and lobster ravioli and it was great. The place has a very high ceiling and has a very open feel to it and is decorated nicely. It's just very refreshing to be at especially living in NYC and after being at so many small cramped restaurants. It's a great place for a large gathering since it's so big. They also offer cooking classes which I would be interested in. Have to say the price is on the high side especially the drinks.

They also offer cooking classes which I would be interested in. Have to say the price is on the high side especially the drinks.

Pros: Ambiance, food, location

Cons: none

Let me preface by saying that I'm picky. And cheap. But let me tell you, there wasn't a bite of food I put in my mouth that didn't impress me. Everything was so tasty! The space is nice, the menu has a lot of choices, and the place wasn't full of annoying meatpacking district type people (on this particular night, anyway). There was simply nothing about the experience I didn't like. I left satiated, not stuffed, but for $112 for two, including a bottle of wine, I felt like I got a deal. I'll be coming back soon.

Pros: quality food, nice place, didn't feel overpriced

Cons: a bit of meat packing attitude

I was expecting a trendy high-priced venue, but was absolutely surpised when I walked in. The bartenders really know their stuff, with the wet cucumber being one of the best drinks I've had in a long time. The tasting menu is the perfect way to start out your meal. We had every type of the crostini, which was de-lish. The entrees are reasonably priced, with nothing over $28. Ok, our waiter was really really bad, as in he forgot about us completely, tried to serve us our entrees when we hadn't even gotten our apps, and forgot we had even ordered a bottle of wine until we reminded him 20 minutes later, but the drinks, olive oil, and the food was so good, the sucky waiter can be overlooked! It's a must try!

My fiancee & I went to Fig&Olive Downtown (we?re huge fans of uptown local) & we fell in love! One of our fav parts is the warm bread and olive oil tasting plate when we?re seated?followed w/ amazing crostini (I?m love the bresoala, goat cheese& black olive crostini & the new salmon, ricotta, citrus & cilantro crostini). They have new summer dishes?the chilled Mediterranean soup w/ a crostini is STUNNING & delicious & poured at the table! Entrees are hard to choose b/c there are so many good ones?I had the smoked chicken salad w/ almonds & my fiancee had the caramelized cod w/ orange glaze-yumm!?we finished w/ a citrus dessert (grapefruit & oranges topped w/ olive oil-ahhhh!) This restaurant is FANTASTIC?smart staff & beautiful atmosphere!

I love Fresh and flavorful cuisine, so as my friends had already tried the one uptown (great place too!), we decided to discover the one in the Meatpacking distrcit! We had 9.30 reservation on Friday nigt, when we first walked inside, the place was beautiful, the music was perfect.. we liked right away! Our waitress was very kind and professional. I had the delicious gaspacho and the unbelievable proscuito melone! The taste of both was so fresh and light..my friend told me that this place is going to be "THE" place to be when we're all gonna be looking for fresh food during the usual very hot summer in Manhattan, I totally trust her! I tried the El Beso cocktail, it was very good for a good price!
The four of us enjoyed their dishes and th atmosphere...We will come back! Highly highly recommended!

I am a lover of all things Mediterranean-while a born and bred NYer at heart, I love the sea and the atmosphere and all that comes with the South of France, Cote d'Azur, Italy and Spain...especially the fabulous food! I was thrilled to try Fig & Olive last week and discover the tastes I know so well from vacation, so close to home. The olive oil presentation was wonderful and the new summer items such as the Branzino, only $19! and chilled gazpacho were incredible-just like something to savor while on holiday. Paired with a lovely glass of rose, I was able to escape for a few hours to the Mediterranean -friendly service, a light and airy ambience to complement this simple, yet delicious and satisfying food...it was a wonderful experience I would recommend to everyone!

I had dinner at Fig & Olive, for the first time last weekend and I was amazed by the quality of the cuisine they offer. The menu is original, fresh and light. The ingredients are imported from Europe and contribute to create the finest flavors. The recipes are a return to sources, you truly feel in South of France, Spain and Italy. The melon prosciutto carpaccio is exquisite since it is treated in an innovative way. Different types of olive oils for different dishes. The atmosphere is trendy and lively. Perfect for haute cuisine lovers who also enjoy fun venues before a night out! Highly highly recommended!
