I went there last night and I had Steak au poivre (Steak with fries in a popcorn sauce).

After that, I had profiteroles as dessert (fantastic). The staff were very friendly, and for sure I will come back there again.

Next time I will try the french onion soup that a person seated next to me had it. The price is the average for that kind of place and atmosphere.

The service is fantastically warm. The food is delicious without being prententious. The wine list is wonderfully welcoming and unique. The staff are helpful, friendly, and understand their customers. Its not only romantic but it is a great spot for friends. This Brasserie has excellent food; from the soups (especially the french onion soup), to the salads, and from the main courses to the desserts. What is even nicer about this restaurant is that the service was fantastic with really polite and knowledgeable staff (unlike restaurants in Paris). The atmosphere was very intimate with nice decoration and music that allows you to talk to your friends. Unlike other restaurants you did not feel cramped for space (where each table is 3 inches away from each other). Highly recommended for a nice and relaxing dinner! Make sure you make reservations (even though there wouldn't have been a problem last time). We also enjoyed our Martinis at the bar.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

Pros: Service, Ambiance

I was really looking forward to dinning at Brasserie 52 and really disappointed after the fact. First the good news....the prices are very reasonable, my steak was tasty and the hostess was the only professional. Unfortunately our server was not trained and we had to wait over 1/2 hour for our food to arrive. I politely asked him to check on the kitchen. Then....nothing. I got the attention of the owner and that's what really made me upset with my dining experience. He tried to pacify our lack of dinner with a free cocktail. Our entrees finally arrived and everyone disappeared. Only the hostess had the politeness to check on our table and make sure everything was satisfactory. The owner and our server avoided us. You would think he'd understand that repeat customers are what sustains a restaurant in NYC. Now Brasserie 52 will wait a long time for us to return. I tried to enjoy and understand the delay but as we were leaving, I over-heard other people complaining outside. Pizza was being delivered so I think it's safe to say that I am not the only one who had a bad experience.

Pros: NICE LOOK AND REASONABLY PRICED

Cons: TERRIBLE SERVICE AND DISINTERESTED OWNER

.

Prices High, Small Portions, Wine was very bad. Terrible Service. Food was not fresh at all. Greens had yellow marks and tomatoes were mooooosshhhhhiiii. Even the bread was served to a table next to ours, I had to ask for bread when I was half way eaten my meal.

Pros: we will never be coming there again

Cons: service, seating, no table cloths

My risotto was undercooked and crunchy. Our party of 8 were not WOWed by the food. Ok the dessert was good i have to give them that. With that price, food should have been some what great and service shouldn't have been as lacking as it was. Gratuity was already included with our party of 8, so i guess the waiter didn't think he needed to earn it. Try other french places...don't even bother with this one.
