My friend and I decided to give Matilda a try based on a recommendation.

We had the absolute best time! Our waiter was so funny and entertaining I started crying I was laughing so hard! The table next to us was celebrating an anniversary and chef made a cake and shared it with the whole restaurant.

We were also presently surprised it was ladies night and we got to drink for free. That's right ladies get half off mixed drinks and unlimited free wine every Tuesday. Yes, ladies all you can drink for free!

The menu is an interesting Mexican Italian fusion and both our meals were very good.

If you are looking to put your worries behind you and enjoy yourself in a great atmosphere I definitely recommend checking out Matildas! It is so cute!

I don't know what this Susan is talking about! She is completely out of her mind!!! Every time i go to Matilda i have a great experience. Service exist and it is the best service i ever had in restaurants, casual, fun and professional at the same time. About the food, i always have fresh ingredients, i like everything on the menu, their special drinks and sangria are amazing. Nobody at 7.30 p.m.? Maybe because this place get crowded after 8.30...I don't think they will be out of business soon, actually since sometimes it's even hard to get a table, i think they will last for a long time! Miss " Susan in the box", i think your problem was another, maybe a bad hair day? Or should i say a bad breath day?? You better go back to your box!

Whatever this place may once have been, the end is near. Completely empty at 7:30 PM -- and now I know why. Service as non-existent, even though we were the only people in the place. A pitcher of Sangria arrived at our table so frozen, it was not drinkable. The food in several of the dishes we were served had clearly gone bad... a pervasive garbage-like odor wafted off the calmari. Salads were missing half of their listed ingredients. Two in our party got sick after the meal, possibly from one of the vegetarian dishes. The restaurant is now cash only. I think they will be out of business by the time you read this. If not, use extreme caution when contemplating an evening at this place.

I recently went to Matilda with a group of 5 friends. The chef offered to create a unique "tasting" for us and brought course after course of amazing food based on our preferences. I loved the nopalos and fish sausages. The chocolate jalapeno gelato at the end put us over the top. Everyone loved the inventive food and the great atmosphere. We sat and ate in a relaxed and festive spirit for hours. Matilda is now my favorite restaurant in New York for a special night out.

I have been here a couple times and I feel like I am coming home every time. The owners are kind, outgoing, and very attentive. The tacos alla fiorentina are like nothing else I've ever tasted, I can't get enough of the guacamole and the tropical pico de gallo, and every time I try something new I'm happy! The husband and wife are each fluent in English and each other's languages and their daughter is adorable. Don't be afraid to ask for changes in your meal (if you like it less spicy or more spicy), they are more than willing to accommodate. Everything is fresh and light, you'll be well-fed but never feel too full. They really know food. Thank you, Matilda!

I choose this restaurant by googling and then reading reviews for ones that appealed to me. I have to say that my boyfriend and I were very pleased with the choice. The food was very creative and interesting. I especially liked the nachos...they are not like any anyone has ever had because the ingredients (like corn and a drizzle of truffle oil) are so unusual, but they worked like crazy. Took the advice of other reviewers and had their signature cocktail, the Prosecito (mojito made with Prosecco - sparkling wine). This was so light and refreshing that I will definitely be copying it for my summer beverage by the pool!!! The whole fish my boyfriend ordered was so fresh, moist and flavourful. The filet mignon tacos needed a bit of zing but were still quite palatable. Service was very friendly and definitely not obtrusive. I met the owner and she was very lovely. All in all, a wonderful find that I will definitely go back to.

What a Great Place. Stopped by because of the sign out front that read "Prosecjitos" Wondered what it was all about. Went inside and was greeted instantly with warmth and kindness. The owner seemed to have know me forever. My guest and I were promptly seated, and served with this drink, called as the sign said outside. A classic Mojito, from Tuscany. I have to say, I think I like it better than the traditional mojito. Made with proseco and mint with all the other traits of a classic, it was brilliant. We went on to learn the space is a blend of Tuscan&Mexcian flavors. Wow, what a combination. The food was simple, TASTY, and very FRESH. We dined on Foccacia and Guacamole,(Seasoned with Basil & Tomato) Delicious Filet Mignon Tacos, Fresh salad of Arrugula, Cilantro, Jicama and Pineapple, the Nachos, with a flair, you just have to try, I am not giving away the secret here...though they are different & tasty. We enjoyed parpadelle with oxtail ragu. Not too much tomatoe, the ragu was amazing!! Finished the evening with a selection of sorbets all homemade fresh vanilla, spumoni and chocolate. I am not a chocolate fan though this sorbet was totally unexpected with hints of cinnamon, and a scampering of chili! Wow!! We also enjoyed olive oil orange cake with a tasty ganache layer in the center..just something simple to finish a VERY LOVELY meal. The owner was present and very Friendly, I guess her husband is the chef... he too came out to say hello and to see if we liked the food. I suspect our glazed look said it all, he seemed pleased!! Though the place may seem small, they deliver food that is amazing, and tasty, with just the kind of local feel you want in the village. Not pretentious, beautiful simple decor, everything was just delicious...I know I will return many times with others for the food, and the comfort of my two favorite cuisines, Tuscan & Mexican, both were delivered with style. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday Evening!!

Pros: very tasty

Cons: small -- make reservations

My wife and I went to this new fusion restaurant last night. (Saturday) We were greeted and sat right on time for our reservation. Our bottle of Tuscan wine, which was very reasonably priced, came quickly. After that the waiter did not rush us to order food. This made for a very relaxing diner experience. The appetizer of fired calamari was excellent and had a creative and tasty dipping sauce. My wife and I shared our two entrees. We had the Chorizo and the very spicy (I loved this but you must love HOT) spaghetti with fresh clam sauce. At that point especially with filling up on the wonderful Tuscan spicy bread we couldn?t fit desert. The decor was perfect reflecting both Tuscan and Mexican cultures. We can?t wait to go back and try some of the other dishes with our friends.
