My best friend came to visit and we wanted a place with outdoor seating for some Sunday brunch. 202 has a wonderful drink menu (try the Bloody Marys - they're all homemade with a secret recipe) and the lamb burger. They cook their burgers medium rare with a smear of goat cheese and chick pea fries. The mix of textures and tastes was outstanding and I left entirely satisfied (and a little buzzed!). Two very satisfied thumbs up!

This hidden gem in Chelsea is known for it's bustling brunch but my boyfriend and I just discovered that it is open for dinner and were super impressed! The candlelit atmosphere, together with the fact that it is just crowded enough to not feel empty, but still intimate and quiet, makes for the perfect date spot. I would highly recommend the fish tacos and all of the salads are great. Definitely try one of the specialty cocktails also!

202 is my go to whether it's brunch, lunch or dinner. Super chic, 202, located in the upbeat and trendy Meat Packing District, also makes for a comfortable spot where you can go to relax and truly enjoy yourself, your company, and your meal. (STRONGLY recommend the Chick Pea Fries.) There is something for everyone on the menu - a twist on the norm.

The service is great, and my experience is always delightful.

If you're never been, you're missing out!!

Wow! I can't believe I have lived in this city for so many years and I am just discovering this place now! The hammy eggy cheesy sandwich is the best cure for my usual weekend hangover...the bread is amazing!

The staff was courteous and attentive. What a cool concept to be able to shop while waiting for my food!

They say they are open for dinner also...I will def be back!

I have been to this spot a few times for weekend brunch but it was always a little to crowded for me. I recently started working in the area and have since made 202 my regular lunch spot! The tuna burger is so good and if you feel like really treating yourself; try the french toast...its sinful! I just recently learned they are also open for dinner! I think it would be a great date spot.

This is a staple brunch spot for me. Best bloody mary in the city. Hands down. Brunch is fantastic, but the rest of the city seems to know this too. It gets slammed on the weekends.

The bartenders will pamper you with their carefully mixed cocktails. These guys were mastering the art of the cocktail long before it became the newest fad.

I don't really get the rude hostess comments. I've never had that problem. I go here often, am in the neighborhood. The food is original, good; the specials always wonderful. The room is large, warm, nice deco, with the store right there. I like this place. It's always clean, fresh, fine service.

Hello I'm the assistant to a Vip Personality and we had Brunch at this Restaurant this past Thursday,i have to say the Food is Delicious,l and very well prepare, but the service provide its not the best that can be offer.the server was trying to hard to be attentive to us i assume because of the Celebrity i represent! which is a regular at this place but she comment to be how this server which was a female, we had a hard time understanding her while she was trying to recommend the daily brunch specials and seem to be in a bad mood the moment she walk away from our table.then this same staff, while i was on my way to the Restroom all of a sudden started Screaming about how they stole her jacket,Wow even sated the price of her Jacket.she Really is a embarrassment to this place. My Boss was so disappointed that we choose this place out of so many other great places in nyc to have brunch and you actually have such Spectacular happening!the screaming and panic wasn't necessary we believe. Not while the place is Packed with customers and at that moment the priority should be the customers and not a $500 dollar coat!My client said that she will never have Brunch there again thanks to this uneducated Server!who not only made herself look Bad but made the restaurant look So low Class!

I been to this Restaurant on 2 different occasion on the weekend on a Sunday with my family to have brunch & i must say the food is deliteful but the staff can be rude and thats definitely a issue because if you have a business and u have rude staff that don't attend the customers in a friendly matter then the food its not just gonna do it for you.my first visit to 202 i was seated by the host that by the way felt offended because we ask if he was the hostess & he reply no i'm the host! come on how rude is that we in America host /hostess its the same in the restaurant industry so thats the only issue i fist encounter at this lovely place after that we got seated and serve by a wonderful server who was very courteous and attentive to our needs & cravings she was super sweet we still remember her name she was call Arlin.unfortunately for us on our 2nd visit to the restaurant i and a group of Friends decided to sit @ the bar & the service we received was so disgusting by this female bartender she completely ignore us for the first 5 minutes we took a seat & was chatting away on the phone fully aware that we was there.then went she decided to come and take care of us she gave us the daily specials & drink menu and had the nerves to let us wait another 10 minutes to order our drinks & food, the other Girl that work next to her in the bar was much more nicer & attentive to us then the so call bartender & spoke so much more professional definitely the manager of this place should switch them he has the wrong individual Taking orders & providing service to clients.i believe she was called by another staff maria" beautiful name for such a miserable person because that how she look this day,the food was Excellent i must Clarify thankfully maybe since the bartender didn't prepare it.The manager should definitely pay more attention on how he has staff that are so unprofessional working at such a high class empire.

I'm a regular at 202 and I don't know what the recent, negative reviews are about. In fact, I just took old friends there for brunch on Mother's day -- and they absolutely loved it. We had the same excellent food, service and ambiance that consistently make this my favorite brunch spot. Their pancakes with blackberry compote and creme fraiche are the best I've had in NYC -- and their salads are great, too! Lines for brunch tables can get long as it gets later, but that's often true in Manhattan. And you can look through Nicole Fahri's gorgeous clothes and housewares while you wait. I love 202 -- and everyone I've taken there does, too!

202 has great interesting food, consistently delicious specials and a great familial atmosphere. Unfortunately the hostess is so rude and difficult, it's not worth it to continue going! We live in the neighborhood and went to 202 at least once a week during the first year the restaurant was open. Initially there was a young, hip host that was very nice, but a little bit spacey. At some point they hired a hostess who is completely disorganized, acts like she owns the place and is consistently rude and unaccomodating - not exactly the type of person to welcome customers into your restaurant!! We have complained about her to other staff, and even he agreed that she is not well-liked among the staff!
Bottom line: good food, great place IF you can tolerate a miserable hostess.

We went for Sat Brunch. Though we really like the antique furniture in the restaurant, we felt like eating in a department store with the clothes within sight. Also, would anyone want to buy clothes that smell like food?

3 things made it impossible for us to set foot in this restaurants ever again. We were in line to have our names down. One guy behind us jumped in and gave his name to the maitre d who accepted his name. We nicely asked to be put in front of that guy on the list, as we were there first. Maitre D' said he understood and will do so. Fine, but wish he wouldn't have done it in the first place. Once we sat down, we saw many ppl not getting their food until they almost finish their brunch cocktails, so know that kitchen might be slow, but we didn't mind. But 30 minutes later - we decided to check. Turned out they "messed up the order", and the food will be there in 5 minutes. We got our food 10 minute later. The food was quite good (egg and mushroom on toast, and full "English" breakfast), though seem more American than British. Lastly, when we got our check. The restaurant tipped itself 40 cents and gave us singles for change. Ok. It's only 40 cents (who would mind when the brunch is $30+ for 2), but please don't round up my bill - especially not after we didn't get our food for 40 minutes. If they had comp our coffees (restaurant service 101), we would have felt so much better about the experience. But sadly, it's the service that makes this one of the worse brunch experiences ever.

I was eager to meet a group of friends for bruch here after hearing it was recently voted the best brunch in the city. The atmosphere--antique tables with mis-matched chairs on one side, Nicole Farhi's clothes and amazing vintage furniture and home accessories on the other--was the one thing that didn't disappoint my expectations. At 11am on a Sunday we started off as one of about 5 tables and everyone ordered coffee or tea immediately upon sitting down. It took a while to get the coffee(15 min after we ordered), the teas took a bit longer(20 min after we ordered), but when we saw the waiter approaching with french-press style loose leaf tea pots for each person, it made sense. My tea, however, didn't come. I waited a few minutes until the waiter came back to refill coffees to ask if he had forgotten my tea (the same kind everyone else had ordered) and he said it was coming. More time passed and our food came and I still didn't have my tea. Finally the waiter brought my tea--a cup and saucer and a tea bag. Not even hot water! And no explanation, no apology for it taking almost 45 minutes to bring me a empty cup and a tea bag! Apart from the tea situation, I was still holding out hope for my traditional English breakfast. It looked good upon arrival, but I kind of wondered if they had forgotten part of it. My full English breakfast consisted of half a piece of toast, one over-poached poached egg, a piece of sausage, a piece of bacon, and three roasted cherry tomatoes. $12 for that is criminal. The food was on par with what I get at the corner diner. In short, the service sucked and not even the great atmosphere could compensate for it or the mediocre food. I cannot image how the place could qualify as the best of anything!

The food at 202 was good. The lamb burger with goat cheese done perfectly. The deep fried chickpea fries were seasononed wonderfully and there weren't too many of them. For dessert, the profiterols were a little bit stale, but still good. I've certainly had better elsewhere.

The service was however, incredibly slow. My water glass was never refilled, and the waiter (whom I can only hope was new), took forever to take our order, to clear our plates, to ask for our dessert order, and to bring us our check. I wouldn't go if I was in a hurry.

202 is a lovely little find-- a great atmosphere (half shop, half restaurant), wonderful service, and really delicious food. the menu is limited and the food is simple, but dressed up enough to make it stand out (the tuna burger is stellar). the waitstaff was so pleasant and attentive but not overbearing. i would come back here in a heartbeat.

On a whim, I sat down at one of the old antique wooden tables for lunch at 202 in Chelsea Market. I ordered a special: Grilled shrimp and preserved lemon risotto with chiffonade of basil and fat curls of parmigiano reggiano. The meal was exquisite--just the perfect portion and my server was attentive, but not overly attentive. I ordered a cup of hot tea after my meal and read a book for an hour. The tea came out in a fancy french press. I am looking forward to another visit soon.

I arranged to meet with a group of friends for a drink last night at 202. Having sipped on the seriously good cocktails we decided to stay for dinner. The menu offers a short but varied choice of dishes plus there is a list of daily changing specials. I had the steak last night which was cooked as I requested, which I must say doesn't happen very often in restaurants. The meat was tender and juicy and came with delicious 'bubble and squeak' - an English dish of fried potato and cabbage. My friends ordered various dishes from the menu and everyone was raving about the food. The service was extremely friendly and efficient and was made particularly entertaining by our server, Maria. I shall be back to try brunch next week when my folks are in town.

GREAT FOOD. GREAT SERVICE. THOSE ARE TWO THINGS THAT ARE HARD TO COME BY IN THE NYC RESTAURANT SCENE BUT 2O2 HAS IT ALL. ITS SO NICE TO NOT DEAL WITH PRETENTIOUS ASPIRING WHATEVERS WHILE TRYING TO ENJOY A GOOD MEAL. THE STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY AND THEY ALL HAVE THERE ACT TOGETHER. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY BRUNCH IS BOOMING AND EVEN WITH A NO RESERVATION UNDER A PARTY 0F 6 POLICY YOU DON'T HAVE ANY DRAMA JUST WALKING IN AND MAYBE WAITING A FEW MINUTES FOR A TABLE. I TRULEY HAVE FOUND MY FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD PLACE FOR 2006. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AND WILL BE GOING BACK QUITE FREQUENTLY.

I read great reviews of this place in the Times and New York magazine, and so I decided to try it out when my mom and a friend of hers came to town. I doubt I'll be going back. Though it's fun to hang out and browse the store while waiting, the whole operation seemed very disorganized (as someone else mentioned, clueless hostess and poorly managed waiting area) and the service left a great deal to be desired. It took a long time to get our drinks (water, tea, coffee), and I had to remind the waiter to bring syrup for my French toast. The food was acceptable, but not spectacular or even memorable. The ambience is nice, and it might be a nice place to have a drink or a scone, but I can think of a number of less expensive and more enjoyable places to have brunch.

I had lunch at 202 with a friend and while the food was OK, I loved this venue. So I decided to have my b-day party there. So, two weeks in advance, I reserved for a party of 30 and proceeded to send out invitations. Two days later, I get a call from 202 telling me that the space had already been reserved by someone else, which they had not realized when they confirmed availability to me. They gave me a long-winded excuse that the manager with whom I spoke did not realize that the other manager had already booked it. Well, this is why 99% of restaurants out there keep log books with reservations to avoid this!

So while it's a great venue and concept, the place is just very poorly managed. And until they get their act together, I don't plan to give them any more business.

Brunch at 202 left much to be desired. From the hostess who could not even collect names and seat people in an efficient manner to the food/service, much improvement is needed.

The hostess was inefficiently seating people and disappeared for minutes at a time, letting the line grow to 15+ people waiting to put their names on the list. When finally seated, a door was left open on a chilly day. It took management at least 10 minutes to close it. When the food arrived, it was sub par. Eggs were runny and undercooked while the bread was burnt. They do not even know how to brew tea properly, having pushed down the strainer immediately in their modern tea makers without letting the leaves brew properly. And in one maker, they put a tea bag, not even tea leaves. Quite amateur.

Brunch at 202 left much to be desired. From the hostess who could not even collect names and seat people in an efficient manner to the food/service, much improvement is needed.

Delicious menu offerings...highly recommend as a spot to meet friends for a laid back brunch. Perfect eggs on toast with grilled mushrooms, gorgeous light pancakes with berries and orange blossom syrup. Menu specials and varied desserts looked very enticing as well. Charming European atmosphere and great service. Nice for a snack before shopping as well- Nicole Farhi has such beautiful things.

Anyone lucky enough to spend their afternoons lazing around London's Notting Hill might not be impressed, but us New Yorkers should count our blessings that the Farhi people decided to copy their hugely sucessful cafe in the meatpacking district. The food is some of the best in the city - just as it is in London - but the environment is extra casual and perfect for meeting friends. Also, they have cool brit beers...
