It wasnt bad enough we got very slow service and our orders wrong, the place had garbage lying around everywhere and our server had body odor on him. I was visiting a friend in bayridge at the time and said to myself how could he take me to such a place when we walked by and saw the health dept sign on the door we werent surprised real dirty place
Pros: convenient location
Cons: very dirty and slow service

A profoundly disturbing health hazzard
by frankie foods
This started off as a good greek retaurant when it first opened four years back. It has deteriorated very badly since then. They dont keep the place clean, body odor is very bad some of the workers smelled. The tables were not clean underneath there was junk all over. one evening during dinner they were taking out the garbage while we were eating really rediculas. I happen to live only a block away from this place on 5 ave and when i walked by and saw the health dept sign that it was shut down didnt surprise me it was a very dirty place to sit and eat glad somebody did something about it!
Pros: it started as a decent place when they opened in 2005
Cons: It got worse as time progressed

Love this place!!!

Delicious Greek food!!! This place is spot on with the food, I never had a bad dish. The only thing I would change is to add more specials. I have eaten here so much I wish they would change up the menu a bit but I still come back over and over!!
Pros: Food, Food, Food

Very Good!

My native greek friend says this is her favorite restaurant outside of Greece. I have been here twice, and can't wait for the next time. It's a beautiful restaurant, has great food, and a lively atmosphere. I would definitely recommend going with family or a group of friends. The decor is gorgeous, but not overdone at all. You feel like you're right in Europe. Great menu and great value for what you get!
Pros: Menu, food, atmosphere
Cons: None

great Greek food, will go back to try everything

Went there with my fiance, our first excursion into Bay Ridge -- we're renting in Park Slope, figuring out where we can possibly buy a place to live -- we found that place & others on the internet and decided to look and see which one we wanted to try, the other places were Middle Eastern. First thing we noticed is places in the area were incredibly bright inside.
Agnanti was the first place we saw that had nice decor. Simple but nice. It was tolerable as far as light but they could turn it down at least a bit, and the place would feel more intimate. Service was very attentive. We went for an appetizer with cheeses wrapped in filo which was great. We had the mousaka, which seemed special -- we don't have a personal standard of what mousaka is supposed to be like, but this was distinctive because the top was very smooth and fluffy. It was certainly very fresh and piping hot. We had a racque of lamb (citysearch said correctly spelled racque was an "inappropriate word") special which was spectacular. Both dishes came with lemon potatoes which were good. We feel like we didn't even scratch the surface of the food offered there -- there's lots of interesting-sounding items on their menu which seemed like very distinctive Greek specialties. I've been to some good Greek restaurants but hadn't learned of many of their offerings. Looking forward to sampling more there. And at the end of the meal one of the waiters appeared with dessert. We thought they just liked us but I just read it's complimentary. It was a kind of squares of semolina cake with syrupy cherries and creme fraiche. We liked it, and it was a nice gesture that they just put it in front of us, kind of like being in someone's home. But people generally like to choose their desserts (or not have dessert, then it'd be a shame to waste it) -- you might want to ask what they have in store for you in advance and see if you want it or if you can request something.
Pros: great, great Greek food! very reasonable prices and nice & attentive waitstaff
Cons: lighting a tad bright, but less than others in area

Takes Me Backa to the Plaka!
by mattster2k
The perfect Greek taverna experience to relive those memories of Athens and beyond. Try the grilled octopus for starters and the main dish of grilled calamari is as good as it gets. Simple, inexpensive, warm and friendly, just like you remember Greece...

The best FOOD!
by annared
Opened 3 blocks from my house - went 3 times in the first week! Grilled octopus, calamari, musaka, all a must. Great salads and the dessert (which is COMPLIMENTARY) is so rich and delicious...friendly service - a little slow when it gets packed (which happens often). The crowd is completly mixed; families; couples; teenagers - I recognized all the local Greek business owners and their families dining there; which I think is a great compliment to the cooking! Worth every minute you have to wait and every penny you spend.
Pros: FOOD, FOOD, FOOD
