Kevin was my massage therapist. He was so pleasant, skilled and most importantly listened very well to my needs. I walked in tense and stiff and walked out feeling relaxed, loose, and calmly energized.\r

This is definitely THE place to go if you're looking for a low-key, friendly environment with various massages/treatments to choose from. Kevin is an amazing therapist who puts you right at ease and certainly delivers an excellent massage.

As interiors go, this place is nice, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here - it's not near any public transportation except the occasional bus, and you can't get anything for under $80 plus tax. I wanted to book a $45 treatment

A real treat. I got a couple's massage with my wife and then we spent some quality time in their Jacuzzi, sipping champagne ... a perfect hideaway, the next best thing to getting out of town.

Having worked in hospitality for a few years now, it is clear to me that Body By Brooklyn has its employees writing reviews which is in one word, PATHETIC.

That said, BBB should be ashamed of themselves for they way the treat their guests.

It is too bad it took me so long to finally write a review but it is a good thing I finally did because the 'positive' reviews I am reading here are lies and are most certainly fabrications by BBB staff and owners.

If you are looking for a place where there is evidence of pests, make yourself at home here. Not only is cleanliness obviously not a priority to BBB but they seem to not understand that a spa is meant to induce relaxation. It looks to me that BBB suffers from poor management. If you are at the front desk, why do I see you behind a bar making drinks and serving food? Why is one manager patrolling the place like it is a prison yard? I have paid the same prices that BBB charges for high quality and better service. The YMCA would be better than coming here. There isn't even any hot water in the jaccuzzi ( at least when I went).

You would think that with the aforementioned issues I had while there, they would have tried to compensate. Forget about it! I wasn't even offerred a 'Goodbye" out the door by the classless and immature front desk girls who could do nothing but talk about sex, cheating on their boyfriends and their facebook statuses while I waited to pay for my 'experience.'

I am thoroughly disappointed. Body By Brooklyn is in a very nice up and coming neighborhood. I had really looked forward to enjoying a day at the spa without the hassle of going all the way to Manhattan. Unfortunately I feel taken advantage of, duped and bamboozled. What a lousy way to treat their guests. They market themselves as a unique spa and lounge. How so? Because they are in Brooklyn where spas are few and far in between? Either they really don't care about keeping their clientele or the owners don't pay their staff enough to even pretend to care.

I will say this: the food seemed to have a creative flair and so were the drinks. But perhaps they just lucked out on a good cook and bartender who probably would be better off sharing their talents somewhere else. I can go elsewhere for good food and drinks. Body By Brooklyn does not deserve my patronage and I will continue to spread the word.

I recently took my bridal party at Body by Brooklyn and it was amazing. My 4 bridesmaids, my mother, mother-in-law, and myself all went to spend a day at the spa to relax and prepare for (my) big day. They all got facials and a swedish massage, I got the chocolate massage, which was an amazing experience that made me feel very special. Then we all had a glass of champagne in the jacuzzi. they were accommodate us without a problem to make the day so special, relaxing and fun. I thought it was going to be a huge headache to figure everything out for that many people, but BbB was able took care of all of the details. Thanks to Kevin and all of the BbB staff for helping with the party!

One of the top Spas in NYC, and right here in Brooklyn! Couldn??t ask for more. My massage therapist was great! I felt so relaxed during the massage. It was a very healing, pleasant experience. And very affordable. Not to mention, with the massage came free admission to the wet lounge all day long. I??ve been to spas in the city, but why deal with heading to Manhattan to pay more money for the same service you can get in Brooklyn?

Props to BBB's entire staff! they were very caring, extreme attentiveness to detail end efficient. The brunch I had was delicious. I had been to Body By Brooklyn before, and although I had never had a bad experience, this was definitely above and beyond what my expectations had become. The last thing you want to deal with at a spa is a staff that stresses you out, but here everyone was willing to help out and create a calming experience from the time I checked in to the time I checked out. Great way to pamper yourself.

I??ve lived in Brooklyn for almost 3 years and never knew this place existed. So glad I finally found it. What a great way to relax after work! Membership fees are reasonable, and now I stop by and use the bathhouse anytime I want for as long or as little as I want. Take a dip in the Jacuzzi, grab a quick drink, and take some ??me?? time to unwind.

I recently came with my boyfriend when I found out you get to use the bathhouse ("wet lounge") when you purchase a treatment, which seemed like a good deal. Reviews are right, the massage was AMAZING, and we actually ended up hanging out there most of the day, ordering lunch and taking advantage of their on-site bar & fireplace lounge area ;) Though tucked away under the BQE, it's well worth the trip, as they have everything on site to make a it an all-around relaxing experience. Also, it's great to finally have something like this in BROOKLYN. The only thing I can compare it to is Great Jones Spa and it's cheaper, closer, in my borough, and massesues are equally good. Also apparantly they have 2-for-1 entrance to the bathhouse on weekdays ($22/each) & all-day happy hour, which makes it a fun hangout spot after work. Definitly planning on taking advantage of that soon on a cold winter evening. (And when I can afford another one, to get a massage!)

I have now been to this God forsaken establishment 4 times... and NEVER again. From the very first visit the jacuzzi was cold, the bar out of liquor and the food was awful.... that was a few months ago. After myself and many others I know have complained to the manager (young lady who resembles a pit bull) it results in nothing but lies and excuses as to why everything sucks. Yet, it continues to suck each and every time I had gone back since.

The final straw was yesterday when I took 5 staff members there and treated them all to mani-pedicures. Dropped over $500 including fat tips.... $500.00 and NO hot water ALL DAY in the jacuzzi!!! I mean the Wet Lounge only offers 4 things, one of them being the jacuzzi. The other 3 are all steam rooms and sauna's... So the ONLY warm body of water was non functional and backed by epic stories of bulls$@t shoveled with a strong back.

Guess what my compensation was..... the comped me a drink! I get it.... you don't want my money or business.

If you need a Spa treatment go to Bliss or Equinox. It's only $35 for a day pass to Wall St. Equinox which has a jacuzzi about 5 times the size, it's clean and boasts eucalyptus in the steam rooms... VS BbB $44 a day cold water cracked out experience.

Thank God It was Free. If you sign up for their mailing list, you get a coupon for the $44 entrance fee to the Wet Spa. It was much smaller than expected, and too crowded to really relax. We were on top of each other in the hot tub and saunas. Most disappointing was the lack of food after brunch time was over. The only cooked food they could offer was mozzarella sticks, and the only juice available was tomato - not exactly the kind of food you want on a "detox" day. A juice bar would have made all the difference. I don't recommend the salt scrub - it's nothing you couldn't do on your own.

After reading about this place and looking at the location, I thought the place was much bigger, but it was a small place. However, my massage was great!!!!!!! I would recommend to my friends to go to him but my overall experience was good. Considering that this was my second massage, I loved every minute of it it was so great that I fell asleep while getting the massage, that is how relaxed I was. I will definitely be going back there to see him again.

I went to this place last year with a big group of ladies from my church and we had the best time. We where there for the whole day and it was so special. My massage with Sharon was the best I ever had.

I don't remember the managers name but he worked with our event planner for a month to put it together and couldn't have been sweeter. One of the ladies who attended was from out of town and when she came back to visit this year she couldn't wait to go back so we did. What on earth happened to this spa! Such a pretty place but I never felt so unwelcome in my life and most of all the personal touch that made our last visit so special was completely gone.

Such a shame

It makes me angry that a valid and useful service such as this one can so easily be taken advantage of. The reviews on this site have clearly been done by friends and current employees of this spa. If you really want the scoop on this spa visit the "clintonhillfoodie" website and look up the joint

You'll get a very clear idea of what the story really is and how this spa is viewed by the local community.

A couple of girlfriends and I went for a birthday celebration, hoping to go to a Spa-style Russian Bath. We checked out the website, it sounded like just the thing...dry and wet saunas, a jacuzzi, an arctic plunge pool, a bar, a restaurant, and private spa therapy rooms for anyone who wanted to further indulge in a body treatment, all for the relatively reasonable price of $45. (Although that "admission" price is a little high than some baths, it looked a little more chichi than say, Emerald Spa)

The facility was pretty, the locker rooms were clean, that's where the compliments end. There were never any towels. There's a huge shelf for holding towels right before you walk into the Sauna area, yet there was never a towel on it. Every time we wanted a towel, we'd have to go find one. The hot tub was never hot. When we first arrived it was 87 degrees and never made it above 91 during the 3 hours we spent at the baths. When it was time to go get something to eat at the restaurant and have a cocktail, we headed to the "restaurant and bar" promised online. They were just breaking down their Saturday/Sunday Brunch (it was about 2:30pm) and there wouldn't be any food service again until 3:30. Inconvenient, but we were willing to wait, so we ordered drinks.

The drinks were expensive. Their signature martinis were about 4 ozs. and $14 each, a friend ordered a beer and the mug was half foam.

It was finally time to order lunch (the sample menu on the website, looks yummy) so we approached the bar (there wasn't anyone coming to tables to take or deliver drinks or food) and made our menu choices. The only things available (on a Saturday...shouldn't the menu be full?) were Baked Salmon, Fried Calamari, and Waffle fries. Settling on the potatoes, we decided to go eat AFTER the spa.

One more round of the Saunas (with dingy, stained towels) and we left disappointed. I'll stick with Emerald Spa for now.

Pros: None.

Cons: Not as advertised, dirty towels, small/cold jacuzzi, expensive pub food.

I am a Brooklynite who has frequented several spas in Manhattan and in various cities when I travel but Body by Brooklyn offers the best overall spa experience. The space is fantastic, large and well set out, from the locker rooms, the wet lounge the bar and the therapy rooms. I have never had the same therapist twice and each of them has been phenomenal! The bar and restaurant are terrific; the drinks are innovative and delicious. Due to the wonderful experiences I have had, I have increased the frequency of my spa visits and have brought friends along who are now frequent patrons. The only problems I have encountered have occurred when scheduling appointments; there have been errors with regard to the date and time of my appointments and the policies have not been clearly communicated by the scheduling staff; however, the staff and management were responsive and friendly and quick to assist with resolutions. If you don't frequent Body by Brooklyn, you definitely should. I guarantee you will be hooked!

My friends and I come from Manhattan as often as we can to spend the day and I'll tell you why. This place is HUGE! I mean, you can really relax and stretch out here...there's even a dining/bar area. The dressing rooms are very large and SUPER clean and that's very important to me when I come to a spa. I feel like this spa has cut down on towels though and you used to be able to access replacement robes when yours gets cold and wet but there don't seem to be extras left out anymore. I'm guessing that is due to cost or theft...either would make sense. Also, they also seem to be allowing cell phones in when they used to NEVER be allowed which is case at all spas I have ever been to. I even saw a STAFF MEMBER talking on his cell phone in the lounge area...to me this cannot be overlooked and must at least be mentioned. A spa is a place to relax, forget work, forget your problems and breathe. I certainly don't want to overhear someone talking about THEIR work and THEIR problems when I am spending good money to relax and enjoy myself so I do hope someone reads this and corrects it or I cannot see myself continuing to go there. I heard people on their phone in the locker room and the lounge. If you cannot go a few hours without using your cell phone then a spa cannot help you. I did leave a comment card and hopefully management reads it.

But let me tell you, if you have never had platza done on you before or if you THINK you've had good platza...(treatment explained on their website) then you have to come and see Ben. He is truly AMAZING not to mention hilarious and easy to relax around.

The food was great as usual, they seem to have a very skilled Chef...food is always wonderful.

And best of all...my masseuse Amy was a total dream. I have never before had such a skilled massage and left smiling, relaxed and 100% pain and stress free. Go to Body by Brooklyn for the body treatments, the food, the BRUNCH on weekends and the awesome saunas. Good times:)

I just had a 1 hour Swedish massage here. I would definitely return. My therapist, Julia, was friendly and professional. She made me feel very comfortable and gave more attention to the parts of my body that ached most (my neck and shoulders.) I walked out of there feeling the most relaxed and refreshed that I have ever felt in a long time.
Moreover, my appointment was at noon on Saturday. It was not crowded at all. Actually, it was a ghost town. I highly recommend coming here around this time if you are interested in taking advantage of the saunas. The Water Lounge was empty and I had the locker room, whirlpool and sauna to myself before and after my appointment.

I am a lover of "wet" saunas and have written a book on where to go and what to do. I was curious to try Body By Brooklyn. It is very pretty but upon checking in, i heard a large crowd of women talking in the background. I pretended to not care but I come to a spa for peace and quite. In the dressing room were large groups of woman talking and laughing. Then once in the "wet area" there were two other large groups and loud talking woman taking photos, drinking mimosas, laughing. (All of which I love and do often just not at a sauna.) There was no room in the whirlpool and the cold plunge pool is for "one" person. The sauna rooms were not even "hot". After trying to ignore the whole crowd, I decided to ask the from desk what the deal was. She said that "there are three large" parties going on at once. Including the restaurant which make you feel like you were crashing a private party? I promptly go dressed, and told the receptionist that this was clearly not the day to be open to the public withe all of the groups. She did not apoligize or offer me a return visit on the house or anything. I was quite annoyed and will not go back. Not worth the hassle to get to such an offbeat local. I will go back to my trusty Russian Turkish baths on E. 10th Street. No nonsense and great real sauna(s).

I've been going to Body by Brooklyn for about a year or so now. The staff is great! My masseur Sharon is just a gem! She listens to you and she tells you not to be afraid to ask questions while you are getting your massage. The food and drinks are EXCELLENT!! Be good to yourself and book a massage at this spa. You won't regret it!

Just a few good words ...the space itself is so clean! really nice, went during the week on an afternoon, I got there early for my appointment just to use the sauna-to help relax, it was a nice space, although I cannot imagine what it would be like on a busy day,( some maintenance people were fixing stuff and a man cleaning the showers in the wet room) I took a shower, showers are nice size, locker rooms were clean. Towels were supplied and robes, slippers etc. I went out to wait for my massage...and this is where it kind-of goes wrong. I am a LMT (lisenced massage therapist) there were certain things that just were NOT asked..like "how is the pressure" or "what areas would you like me to focus on" she proceeded with the massage which was more like a "rub-down" than a massage....none of my MUSCLES were worked on, it was just very superficial and I was very disappointed :-( I mentioned this to the recepetionist who seemed to "KNOW" she is "light"...so he recommended some other therapists who are "good"....hmmmm shouldnt they all be "good"???? I know massage is subjective, but I know a good massage from bad..this was something I would defineatly not pay $90 for.... I guess I should have spoken up...but then again I dont want someone doing deeper pressure on muscles if they do not know what they are doing. I will give it another chance with a different therapist only b/c of recept. recommendation, and I really liked how quiet the space was.

This has got to be the most unique spa I've been to in NYC yet. I was recommended by a friend and booked a massage without knowing to much about the place other than the address and the price. What a surprise when I walked in. The place has a very hip modern feel and was clean, clean, clean!

There is an area they call the wet lounge that has jacuzzi, steam rooms and saunas with lots of lounge chairs that was totally cool. You are aloud to use it for as long as you like and no one rushes you. The towels and robes where very high quality, locker rooms where spotless and well stocked. They also have a restaurant and a killer bar (now that's my kind of spa). I was so relaxed I almost didn't need a massage!

My massage girl was great, we connected immediately and I felt very comfortable. You could tell she really likes what she does.

The staff was very attentive but at the same time gave me plenty of space. I didn't feel any of that fake fluff you get in some places. I really felt right at home.

I'm already planning to head back there next weekend and will be bringing a few friends to hang with. HIGHLY recommended.

I have gone to this place twice now. The first time was a while back when they first opened and it was apparent they needed to do some shaping up and re-organizing. I though the facility was well made but they just needed time. After hearing they did just that I decided to give it another go. The staff is much better, service is better, and they are more organized. Overall a relaxing experience, definitely will go again.

I have been going to this Spa since the very first week they opened and never ONCE have I had a bad experience. I have had 6 AWESOME massages...several tasty meals and the cocktails are always delicious too! I feel very taken care of when I am there and NEVER EVER have I been charged for tap water as indicated by someone below. My only guess is that those bad reviews are written by rival Spas nervous about losing their business. I go to Body by Brookyln at least once a month and anyone who wants to talk to me about my experiences can email me their phone number and I'll call you. My best friend is coming into town in March and this is where we are spending the entire day! This is my very favorite Spa in New York(I have lived here for 18 years) and I will continue to enjoy their pampering!

Body by Brooklyn was clean and reasonably priced for being a full service spa in New York. I was very pleased with everything. The staff was extremely attentive to all of our needs during the visit. There is a large steam room and sauna and a restaurant within the spa. Jesse and Chris are excellent massuses. They really know how to do a deep tissue massage. My family went to Body by Brooklyn on a weekday so the spa wasn't crowded. This just made our experience more relaxing. I think on the weekends it might be very, very busy because they ran out of salad for serveral entrees on the restaurant menu.

My family will definately come back to this spa.

Only negative thing is the pricing on the mud wrap. It wasn't accurate on the advertisement.

I had the great pleasure of visiting Body by Brooklyn as a surprise gift for my birthday by my male friend. The outside had me stumped cause I couldn't imagine where or what was inside this huge building. As I entered the door, I was welcomed. I was left in the hands of strangers for 3hours, but that worry thought left instantly when I was toured the faculty. The restrooms had nice relaxing lighting, many fresh towels, toothbrushes and shampoos, hairdryers practically everything you could think of was supplied. The steam sauna was great! I enjoyed the jacuzzi and the wonderful lounge chairs. Next came the massage. I practically fell asleep. The room was lit with relaxing incense and wonderful sounds filled the room. After the massage came the facial, which left my face aglow. With just the right creams and cleansing for my delicate African American skin. Later that day I found myself at the bar. Relaxing with a nice glass of wine and an awesome seafood soup.

When my friend came to pick me up he said I looked great. Skin was glowing and I was looking like a different woman with the stress gone. I thanked him many times over for my special day at Body by Brooklyn. My treat for him is this year for Valentine's Day I'm taking him to Body by Brooklyn and I'm staying too.

I travel to Europe for business a few times a year, and during my stays I am always impressed by the everyday spas in the hotels, let alone the specialty spas. They are a wonderful way to relax after many hours of travel and long days of meetings. Until recently, I have not been able to find a similar experience in New York City. Most spas here are well-worn in a way that I find neither inviting nor comfortable. Body By Brooklyn is the newest spa I've been to, and it sets the standard for a clean, quiet facility in New York City. I cannot agree with the complaints I've seen in other reviews about the initial greeting. I found the counter staff to be very professional, both over the phone and in person. When visiting a spa, It's always strange to me that the locker room has to be the first place that you see. I certainly don't want visitors to my home to have to enter in through the bathroom. However, each time I have been to Body By Brooklyn, the locker room looks like it's the first day of business. The showers are supplied with soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers -- which is pretty standard except that I almost always find the ones in other facilities to be either empty or broken. The robes are plush, as are the towels. Disposable bathing suits are available at the front desk, which is a huge benefit. The problem with co-ed spas in the U.S. is that most bathing suits are not designed to be comfortable or safe at 200 degrees. And what is the point of sweating out all of your impurities if they are just kept against the skin by a bathing suit? The disposable ones dry almost instantly, and they breath in the intense heat of the steam room and sauna. The bartender is friendly, and capable of some amazing juice concoctions. And the steam room and two saunas not only look brand new, but are also built with gorgeous materials -- unlike other New York saunas where you feel like you are sitting on barn boards. Body By Brooklyn is uniquely wonderful by any standard.
