I was with a friend and was in the mood for a burger, what I saw came as no surprise to me health dept shut the place down this morning. I came at around 11am to pick up an order to go for me and my friend and saw the three white signs posted on the door. I wasn't surprised due to the fact that they never kept the place clean on quite a few occasions spotted grease and oil and pieces of a burger on the floor behind the counter when I use to go there sometimes. I noticed one of the cooks sneezing often the only reason why I came here even though it was rare was because my friend was a big fan of five guys but now even he started to see the light to after giving them the benefit of the doubt on many occasions neither one of us is coming back even if they fix the many violations they had which caused them to close down.

I wanted to try out five guys for lunch two weekends ago big mistake,
ordered a burger with fries & a drink. I noticed the only size they have for the drinks is the real large one. I ask for my burger to be cooked medium rare guy behind the counter tells me we don't cook them medium rare for health reasons was disappointed to hear that. The fries were really oily and the burger was not thick the double patty concept is just a marketing thing to make customers feel like oh Iam getting a double burger. It is also an expensive burger altogether everything came out to $10.00 and it wasn't good and the line to wait was too long rather stick to the canyon across the street ended up going back there later in the day to make up for the disappointment of five guys.

Five guys are what we call a ridiculous concept for a burger and they don't cook them medium rare it is only well done, to make matters worse it does not taste that good and not juicy. The fries were really a waste as well wont be back.

I found this place a disappointing choice for Montague st. I ordered a burger medium rare, young man behind the counter tells me for health reasons they don't cook the burgers medium rare so I order it well done with fries and a coke. It altogether came out to $12.00 for a intolerable burger that was over cooked and had a vast amount of peanut oil all over it, use to cook burgers at a diner a long time ago should know how a burger is supposed to be cooked. My soda was completely flat, fries had so much peanut oil and grease that I barely felt any taste to them. The line during the lunch hour was moving too slow and that really got on my nerves! I can get better and faster service in terms of orders to go by visiting the canyon across the street. Forget this place folks go to canyon or shake shack in the Fulton mall if you want better food and service.

I hang out in the heights on occasion and noticed five guys on Montague st, never had there burgers thought id give them a chance to see how they are. I made a big mistake there were only 5 people in front of me around noon today and it took 35 min for me to make my order. I was disappointed to find that they don't cook burgers medium rare only well done. It also turned out to be very expensive was charged $14.00 for a large drink burger and fries. It is my understanding from some friends that five guys uses alot of peanut oil in there burgers and lots of grease, which probably explains why I was sick for a week. Iam sorry don't think I can deal with the concept of having a burger with so much peanut oil in it.

I was hanging out in the heights with friends thought Id try this location to see if they are better then park slope. I thought wrong the burgers are still overly cooked and too much oil and grease. The fries have so much oil you cant even see them hardly. Please go to shake shack on 409 Fulton Street by the mall where the pizzeria use to be.
It tastes better and it costs cheaper, bought a burger and fries plus a drink for only 7 bucks please try it burger fans.

Their burgers are so delicious!!! I love that fact that you can purchase your burger with all toppings free. Most other locations will charge you a $1 or more per topping. It is kinda expensive for a full meal ($12) but you get a lot for your money.

I never understood the peanuts but who really cares when the food is so amazing. Advice for those of normal stature. Order the small order of fries. This place gets a small cup, fills it up, and then packs eight extra scoops of fries in the brown bag (which immediately begins to seep through with grease).

Beyond that, their burgers are the best I've ever had, with so many options of other toppings. It should be a crime to get burgers so good...

to be honest I would rather go to a small res or diner. Iam tired of these chain stores taking over the block and the burger was not that good. It was soggy and over cooked.

Don't know where this place got to be billed as great burgers and fries, but I wouldn't go back to it if you paid the bill. Fries were limp and soggy and my dog has had better burgers to eat.

Five Guys is not cheap. It's not really fast. What it is, though, is a good honest burger made right in front of you and served with some of the best fries you'll ever eat.

Toppings are plentiful and all available for free, and the "default" burger is a two patty monster. The buns are okay (not great) but the meat really shines. Don't be turned off by the "we only cook it well-done" part. I promise you these are as juicy as any burger you've had anywhere else. If the idea of a two-patty burger seems daunting (and believe me, it's a big burger) then go with the "Little" burgers, which are one patty only and a hair cheaper.

Oh yeah, did I mention they also serve grilled cheese sandwiches (on an inverted hamburger bun) and hot dogs (split down the middle and served sandwich style)?

Fries also are plentiful, and in fact too much so. DO NOT get the large. The regular fry is enough for two people and then some, plus they always throw a helping of them directly into your bag.

Five Guys is one of my favorite places, it's worth every penny, and if you're into burgers, you have to try it.

This place definitely has one of the best burgers I have every had. It comes plain, you pick all the toppings. Fresh never frozen meat. Oh and the fries! Still have the skins on them. You can get them salted or cajun. For the ones with a sweet tooth and people from the south SWEET TEA, its good. The only flaw in this place is they use peanut oil and have shelled peanuts to eat while you wait. So if you are allergic to peanuts not the place for you.

I was looking for something quick and easy for me and my son last night for dinner. And we spied upon the new Five Guys burger joint. I couldn't have been happier with the pleasant service, great burger, and most of all a happy child who got exactly what he wanted and quickly. Everyone knows that a hungry 5 year old is a loud 5 year old! My burger was great and Sam couldn't have been happier. Thanks Five Guys!

Burgers are my forte, therefore, when I heard that Five Guys opened my venture was to explore the delights of yet another burger. Unfortunately, the disappointment had taken over my appetite. First and most importantly ?THE BURGER?. The burger is most important aspect of your business and it should be the best of quality, this is your bread and butter, but yet I?ve had hockey pucks that have tasted better. The simple order of cheese burger without any special request was overcooked and dry. The place is too small and if more than 5 people are there, it?s crammed. The decor is nothing special, seems like 50?s style gone wrong. There are way too many people behind the counter that seem dazed and confused, presuming they are being trained, and with all that people to service we were still waiting a good amount of time for our food. I?ve had my experience and now I?ll move on to a better place.

This is by far the best burger on Montague Street... the fries are pretty good, too. The space is really cramped and there aren't great seating options, but the food (and the wait) is worth it.

I just tried the place out. First off, they must have about 9 people behind the counter. It seemed like they were all training because the girl on the grill was the only one working and instructing the rest of the crew. There was an Asian guy who stood staring at 4 burgers for 2 minutes and 43 seconds (I timed him) without touching them. I'm still trying to figure out how the other 8 employees could ignore the orders that were not going out. Mine was one of them and all it needed was BBQ sauce and to be wrapped up. OK, I understand they just opened so I will let this go. As far as the taste, the burger was OK (all burgers are cooked well done), nothing to write home about. The fries were very good. I think that Henry Street Ale House has a better tasting burger (you can get it cooked the way you want it also), and their fries are almost as good but not as crispy as Five Guys. They should really consider delivering. I will try them again. They seem like a clean operation.
