You buy a vehicle you get it checked out by somebody you trust to make sure it's okay before you pay for it. I wouldn't buy a car from ANYBODY or ANY dealership without getting it checked out to see if it's a reliable make/model.
Used cars are USED. SH-- happens even when you're trying to be careful when you buy.
I don't know how many cars TB sells but it's got to be a lot with a bunch of stores.
I think they've been okay so far.
Plus I think when people are mad they look for revenge whether they're right or wrong and people that are happy don't usually take the time to write.
Except people like me.
I wish this site was more like Angie's List.
It'd be a lot more helpful than just a bunch of complaining, or empty praise.

I really liked Time buyers of Cortland until this last time. I bought a car from Time Buyers 4 years ago and had great experince with it ! But due to medical reasons I had to get a mini van for transportion purposes So since I had a great experince last time I went back to them. What a huge mistake !!! Picked the van up Feb 8th had to take it back due to no Heat !! middle of winter selling van with no heat !!! Right ! Also told them about a clicking sound in front end when turning said they would check it so finally when they did check it out it was past the 30 days Made the appointment for them to fix the problem and told them about some other thing that should be checked and 150 dollars later I picked up the van by the way it was scheduled for 9 am i got there after work at 245 and had to wait til 430 to get it cause they said it was a 20 minute job but lasted almost 8 freaking hours !! Needless to say I was ticked big time I drove it 2 blocks to the hospital to see my husband when I left 2 hours later Guess what ?? it didnt start !!! due to this other problem When I called the garage this morning asking about it I was in other words informed that since it was running when I left with it it was not their concern I can take it to any other garage to have it fixed !! But I was told that they need to know who does the work and what is done to it !! Guess what ?? they can go to _____ !!! I will get it fixed and drive it at their cost !!! Would I recommand any body else to TIME BUYERS ??? NOT ON YOUR LIFE !!!!! On a fixed income so 270 a month for a van thats not working is really gona hurt !!! Do they care ?? Not at all !!!

I have gone to the Time Buyers in Batavia NY and If you can get a car somewhere else do it!! I paid 700 down to get a ford winstar van and ever since it has been nothing but a bad experience. First my rack and pinon went 1 month after getting it the manager walked up to me and he HAD to check the paper work to make sure I could not take him to court for the lemon law!! We finally sorted it out and it took them three days to fix (and they do not give you a loaner car so your out of a car when they are fixing it). Then there has been a recall on that van for 10 years on the subframe which I knew nothing about! It was cracking and crunching everytime I hit a bump I took it to a ford dealership and they informed me of the recall and fixed it for nothing. Now my van is sitting in my daughters house not moving! We do not know whats wrong with it, it will not go forward or reverse it is stuck. I called them up and I have to find a way to get it to them to fix it, and I have to come up with 100 dollars just to get anything done to it. It has been one headache after another. PLEASE if you can find somewhere else to get a vehicle PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Do yourself the trouble and save up the money to go somewhere else!

The faulty senetence structure is probably indicative of a real customer. The well thought-out, polished songs-of-praise are probably written by professional reviewers. Just a thought.

I am thinkning about going to TB, but there seems to be a big variation among the experiences described. Has anyone been to the Cortland incarnation?

What a great place this has been for us.
We bought a car almost two years ago which still runs like a top and we're about to have it paid off already!
We'd go back if we needed to.
Pay on time.
Have your car looked at before you buy-from ANYONE/ANYPLACE.
Know what you can pay.

I've had a couple of late times with Timebuyer in the past and they were pretty easy to deal with, they just like to be kept in the loop about what's going on.

I did hear that because of the economy, and everybody having a tough time, that they were getting a little tighter about letting people get away with any late payments.

That last post I read sounded a little over the top to me. I've had friends I know had late times too, but never heard any of them say anything crazy about how they got treated over it.

I'm looking at buying another blazer from them and all I can say after reading a lot of posts is, I'm still going to go back.

I am going to be honest with this. After my car died I went to the Oswego TimeBuyers and found a car with decent milage and only $400 down asking price. Only a month later everything started to go wrong with the car and surprise, surprise nothing was covered by the warrenty that we had added on. After 600 dollars worth of repairs, out of my poocket, the car has been running well. l had been paying my bills ontime for almost a year when my husband lost his job due to the recession and with that only leaves me working a minamum wage job, which means a lot less income. I called Randy to see if he could work with me on my payments until we got back on track. He treated me like I was the lowest form of dirt on the planet. He even went as far as asking me if any of my friends or family could pay my bill for me, I replied that if they could I would not be talking to him. I told him that I needed at least two weeks to be able to pay my bill, since I was paid bi-weekly, he complained about it, until I told him to come and get the car if he did not want to wait. He just told me to try to pay it as soon as I could. After two days had passed, the people that I put down as my references started to call me and tell me that TimeBuyers were calling them and asking them if they could pay my bill! I was completely P'ed off. I called and spoke to Timebuyers and they completely denied it of course. Then the next day TimeBuyers shows up to my house looking for their payment?! I told them that I had already spoken to Randy a few days ago and they told me that he was the one that sent them out here. This went on for the two weeks that I was late for. Then for four months I was on time and everything was fine, until I was two days late for a payment and they are knocking on my door and harrassing my family again!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE, they will harrass you, your friends, and your family, anyone you put down as a reference. They do not care. Yes they are nice people as long as you are making your payments on time, but the moment that you are late they will harass you, your refences, and show up at your door step!! What a joke. Then they have the nerve to ask me if I want to reffer anyone to them?! NO WAY would I do that to someone. This company knows that by taking on the people that have credit issues that they are going to have a few late payments, but they need to work with people that are willing to ask for help and extra time. I refuse to call or go into the dealership, because of Randy's poor customer service. I should have saved a few pay checks and bought a decent used vehicle from a person off the street. Not only would I own my car, but I would not have to have delt with these people. Save yourself a headache....DO NOT BUY FROM TIMEBUYERS!!!

Speakin' bout "dealers & employees" hey Brandon G. if you're gonna dis another dealer at least keep the numbers real in your story.
Man that deal looked so good you layed down I went and checked it out.
I couldn't find no 2004 that was close to the $4000 or so you musta had to make that all work. I thought 69/mo for a 2004 sounded weird.
I'm still lookn for a deal.
I know TB charges a flat rate no matter who you are cause i went there and may still get one of their cars.
So I guess if you've got a big downpayment, and you can find crazy impossibly cheap cars and then you've got good enough cred to get a 5% loan your either a really lucky guy or a dealer.
I'm not a dealer, but I wish I could get the deal you layed down.
I'm still thinkn about that 2 year loan they offered me at TB.
The interest doesn't end up being that much cause I'm not gonna have to pay for 4-6 years on it, and they have some pretty damn decent lookin cars these days.
I dunno if I'll be dealin with TB, but I can sniff a dealer B.

Funny enough I have a good credit score 740 and just purchased a car through sun auto warehouse. But unfortunately my family had to buy 2 cars because both of our vehicles had to be taken off the road. So for my second vehicle since I don"t do as much driving as my wife I wanted a cheap dependable vehicle and thought I would try time buyer. I went in and told them I could put 1000 down and I didn't want to pay more than 70 a month since we just started a 300 dollar payment on the newer vehicle. He promptly told me I wouldn't be able to get that any where and told me that the 22% interest rate was non-negotiable no matter how good my credit was. Do not go to time buyer. By the way after a five minute search at the drivers village website I found a 2004 vehicle for 69.00 a month with a 1000 dollars down and a 5.1 interest rate. Your loss time buyer.

I bought used from Timebuyer and have only had the usual used car problems. I only got 20K on the brakes, but I'm not the first driver. It had 75K on it when I got it (who knows what the previous people did with it).
It was used when I got it. I had it inspected by my dad, and it's been a good car.
The guys at Timebuyer have been okay, and only gave me a little hassle when I started getting late with a payment.
I'd do it all over again.

I bought a 2000 Dodge Stratus 3 years ago from the Fulton office and have only had 2 real problems other then normal maintanence. I had my catalitic converter changed by them after only 2 weeks of driving the car. I think they are good to deal with and they offer decent cars for people with credit problems. I have since repaired my credit and will still go back to Timebuyer again. When I got my car I did purchase the extended warranty and after I finished paying for the car the second problem happened, but that was 2 years and 4 months after purchase. The Coil Pack went and I had to replace myself but that wasn't even covered under the exended warranty. So all in all, TIMEBUYER was very good to me and even allowed me to split my payments because I got paid every other week.

I bought a 2000 Saturn S2 from Time Buyer and within 2 weeks, my transmission was blown and my engine was not far behind. I would not recommend these jokers to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I gave the car back waited 6 months and went and got approved for a brand new car.

I bought a 2006 poetic g6 for 20grand with almost 100000miles on it. I have had the car for two weeks and have had nothing but problem after problem. Bad brakes in the back. Struts are bad in the back just makes a thump overtime you hit a bump. Has a antifreeze leak witch they said they couldn't find. I took it to a gm dealer and they found the leak. Now the car has Puked on me three times. Codes show a crank sensor. They replaced that and that didn't fix the problem. Now they want to keep the car for. Week to two weeks to figure it out and attempt to fix the issue. From what the mechanic told me. was this car was sold once before and the guy brought it back for the same problem. So by the looks of it they hob robbed it for the.next person to get. I put 1500 down for this car because they said it was there premium line. More like another one of timebuyer junk line. Word of advice to anyone. Don't take the risk with these morons. They are just out for the money.

I have not even purchased a car from these people yet. Just thought I would check out the reviews. I noticed a pattern with the reviews. Most of the CRY BABIES(negative reviewers) are seriously lacking any ability to put a proper sentence together, to say nothing for spelling, grammer, or any sort of grasp of our language at all. Hard to take seriously.
Quite the opposite are those folks who claim to have had a decent experience with Time Buyer. The reviewers who reflected a positive experience seemed to have a command for the English language. They made their points in a way that made sense, without the aimless rambling that we see with those, who actually, are mad at themselves.
My point(finally). All of us who buy from Time Buyer are probably a bit upset with ourselves for letting our credit get a bit out of hand. However, I think its great that there is a company out there that will give us a chance to not only purchase a vehicle, but to help repair our credit. Don't forget, when you take that vehicle back 5 times and it still doesn't fix the problem, it's your fault, not Time Buyers! If you or I had our finances in order, we would be at the Dealership signing our name on a 0% finance contract on a BRAND NEW vehicle of our choice.
I think I am going to go look at Time Buyers inventory tomorrow. I choose to take the word of those who can read and write. When your buying used cars in Upstate New York, you never know what your going to get. Just be thankfull that you get the chance.

I bought my car from the Oswego Timebuyer a bit more than a year ago and love it.
I get regular maintenance/tune-ups and haven't had any problems.
I also don't ram it through potholes, or ride it hard.
It's an '05 and runs great.
Their sales guy Bob and the manager Randy have both been really easy to deal with too.

i think time buyers are nothing but crooks and liars. i bought a car from them for my son,1 year ago. since the 1st week my son had the car we complained about the car pulling to the left. time and time again we called them to complain about it,and finally the manager looked at it made at least 3 appointments and had them look at it. they said nothing wrong with it. finaly the manager looked at the car and said the lower contol arm was bad.they put us off long enough for ingwarrenty to run out. they origanaly said he could have hit a pot hole.come to find out, both lower control arms have been replaced , parts from a junck yard. i would not give them a half star rating

I find it so strange that people buy cars without reading their contract first!Timebuyer offers a 30 day warranty on their cars and it is clearly stated in the contracts. If you finance a car through a bank, you would pay for it whether it was broken down or not.Funny that the people who complain are the people who put many many miles on the cars, and don't make their payments.Obviously you needed to buy from Timebuyer because you have credit problems. Why not use your Timebuyer account to better your credit score and next time you could shop somewhere else? Don't care what you all say, Timebuyer mechanics in Gouverneur are the bomb!!! They've gone above and beyond for me and friends who have bought there! MAKE YOUR PAYMENTS AND YOU GET RESPECT!!!!!

I've got a Chevy SUV I bought from Timebuyer that has been running fine for more than a year now, and they have taken care of me when I did have a couple of small problems a while ago.

I just don't get why a manufacturer problem, or problems caused by people driving older USED vehicles a lot of miles translates to the dealer being a problem.

Or that you're paying INTEREST on a loan. Doesn't anybody read their agreements anymore, and/or get their vehicle looked at before they buy?

Lots of complaining, and it's always everybody else's fault when there's any trouble at all,

Get a grip.

ok, so we purchased a 2002 mazda MPV from the plattsburgh location. the van looked great, we needed a bigger vehicle as we were expecting our third child and the small car we owned at the time would not fit 3 carseats. Anyways, during the test drive everything seemed great! and with us having not so perfect credit, being approved for the car loan was a blessing in itself. well, we put the $800 down, signed all the paperwork and my husband went the next day to pick up the van. He did not even get out of the parking lot when the check engine light came on and the car started sputtering and making odd noises. so he pulled right back up to the door and explained what was going on. the mechanic did an engine test and it came up that there was a bad spark plug that needed to be fix...no big deal...and timebuyer even offered to pay for the parts and labor. a few days later they call us and tell us the car is ready to be picked up, so we go to get it and all seems fine. the van ran great for about a week....until it started to rain, at which point the check engine light came back on. we took it back in and again, the analosis came back that it was the same spark plug misfire and they told us it was going to cost $250 for parts and labor to fix it. we paid the amount and they fixed it. after the third time if this happening whenever it would rain my husband decided to do some research and found out that on the model of MPV that we purchased there is an inconspicuous air vent on the 5th spark plug ( the same spark plug that has been giving us issues) that allows water and anything else to get into it, which in turn burns out the spark plug, ending up in an engine malfunction. We called mazda directly because we were informed there was a recall on some models of the same vehicle we purchased from time buyer only to find out that ours was not one of them, even though the recall was for the same problem we were having...and there was nothing they could do to help us. so basically we are stuck paying $250 every time it rains to fix the malfunctioning parts because it apparently is not covered in the extended warrenty we purchased on top of the $8,000 car loan we are paying off. fast forward to about 14 months later, same problems AND with minimal addition to milage on our part from the time we purchased the car to now, the kelly blue book value of the vehicle is $3,500 and we still have $5,000 left to pay. piece of crap. dont buy an MPV and read the fine print before purchasing a warrenty from timebuyer because it covers absolutely nothing. Time buyer...the employees were courtious and kind but the services and cars are not worth paying 4 times the actual value of the car. ($8,000 car loan + $4,000 interest = a grand total of $12,000 plus all the money we have had to invest on parts and labor). on a final note: we have paid car payments on time every month from the very first day we purchaced the car, nothing to do with late payments, etc.

Too many people don't take time to leave good feedback for good companies.
It seems like the only thing you hear anyplace is people complaining and bad news.
I bought and paid for my Timebuyer car.
It only had a couple of problems that developed (which were normal for the miles I put on it).
I paid on time, and they treated me well.

I just bought a car from them about 8 months ago.

Had my father look at it before I bought.
Solid Cars for Reasonable Prices

Still running fine and par for the course maintenance for a 2004.

I'm guessing a lot of complaining is done by people who put a million miles on their cars, can't make the payments, or get them taken back.

Boo Hoo.

I looked at my contract, knew what I was buying, knew the interest rate (less than my freakin' MasterCard), and think this place is okay.

I purchased my car at the Plattsburgh location a week ago. Already it has major problems, bad struts, wheel baring, defrost button does not work and a loud rattling coming from the front of the car. I was told to bring it in today and they would look at it, I cleared timeout of my schedule to get it there and was then told they did not have time to look at it and would do it first thing in the morning. again have to make time in my already busy schedule. who knows when they will be able to fix it and it worries me that the same place who sold it wiill be working on it. The car has 86,000 miles on it, I expected there to be issues but not this many and already.

Got me a car when my credit was in the crapper and without any hassles.
They also let my brother give it the once over, he's a mechanic, and he gave it the seal of approval.
Good people at that store.
I'd send anybody with credit problems to them.

Hey I went to Randy too! Your right he was real nice and helped me which is good cuz I dont know much about cars. But he must know his stuff cuz it??s a year and a half later and its running fine. He didn??t take advantage of me cuz im a woman and don??t know nothing about cars. I could have been screwed on that sale but he did right by me and when I really needed it! Oh ya and when there was a brake problem once last year they fixed it no trouble.

I really needed a car and live in Fulton but work in Oswego.

I went to the Oswego Timebuyer and the manager Randy was super nice. He told me there was an SUV at the fulton store that was better for me than the one he had on his lot and sent me to see Michelle.

I did and she was as nice as she seems on TV.
Thanks to the two of them now I have a good car to drive and have been able to drive myself to work for the last 4 months.

Thanks everybody!

Timebuyer has good cars at fair prices. They give you a loan based on you not if you've got a great credit score which was good cause I dont.

I've had one of their cars for almost two years and its still running good no big problems only a couple small ones that they took care of.

If timebueyr had cars that fell apart and caught fire theyd all be in jail by now!
my car isn't great and there were a couple problems after I had it a few weeks but the Oswego manager took care of me. Its a used car! I knew it wasnt perfect when I got it.
These guys arent selling junk their selling decent cars at regualr prices and giving poor jerks like me a chance to buy a car when my credits screwed up.
If you buy a used car from the paper you don't even get a chance to go back and complain if something happens after you drive it a bunch or complain to the bank cause you have to make payments on it while you get it fixed.
If their cars were marked up so much like everybody says theyd never sell anything. Man their selliong used cars to people with bad credit.
To bad everybody thats happy with them doesn't come back here and take a minute to say something like me.
Its like the only time anybody takes any time to do this is when theyre PO'd.

Get a grip. I'm glad their here and if I need another car before I get my credit right I'm going back.

I know 3 ppl that purchased vehicles from the Goveneur (sp) location and ALL three vechiles were nothing but junk. Ya they were ok the first couple of days and then things went and when these ppl took the vehicles back for service nothing is covered by warranty, and the mechanics kept saying nothing was wrong etc On on the vehicles the ENTIRE front end of the car fell apart the frame was cracked the shocks (struts) broken off On another vehicle the brake calbs were rubbing so bad they caught fire before the person was 35 miles up the road !!! I wouldnt reccomend this dealership to anyone They buy vehicles at the auction double the price and the warranties or service dept don't cover ANYTHING I know the three examples I used have contacted the Attorney Generals Office and I suggest the same for others

I've been very happy with the truck I bought from them a couple years ago. I've only had one minor problem and it was covered by the warrantee. They took care of it without any hassles. I'll go to them again when my wife's ancient Civic gives out.

They have "silly restrictions" because they are a buy here, pay here dealership. Because they do thier own financing they have to follow certain rules. I am sure they would love to service everyone but that is just not how it works!

Bought a 2002 Chevy Impala about 6 months ago from Time Buyer. Recently I started having a problem with a coolant leak. Turns out it was the intake gasket. No, it wasn't covered under warranty, and in fact a gasket NEVER would be under any warranty. However, they said they could fix it and did not charge me a dime in labor I only paid for the gasket set. Now am I going to be upset at them because GM makes faulty gaskets? Hell no. They helped me out big time and for that I would recommend them to anyone.

Do not buy a car from here. $7,000+ for cars with over 100,000 miles on them. They might run well right before you buy them but they go down hill fast and their warranties cover absolutely NOTHING. Because they don't run a credit check, they think they can bully you and treat you like filth. My mom got ripped off by them and when we ask for a record of payment they say there is no way they can show that. Worthless!

I recently tried to buy a vehicle from the Plattsburgh dealer and was told that my zip code was out of the service area for financing. My zip code is 46 miles from their front door. I am sure that time buyer will loose a lot of business by having such a silly restriction. We are hard working people and because of todays economy credit is hard to find. my paperwork would have gone through if I lived within 30 miles of plattsburgh but because its 46 it didn't go through. Sound pretty stupid to me!
