This has to b one of the finest restaurants in the area. Definitely the best Diner. I am fortunate to get to live so close to this little gem.
Breakfast is outstanding. I have had many things, but by far the most surprising dish so far has been the oatmeal. Served full of fruit and nuts, accompanied by a dish of vanilla yogurt. The stuffed french toast was also delish.

We have also gone at lunch and dinner. They have amazing burgers.

This place is spotless and the staff are friendly and quick. It is worth the stop.

The Only drawbacks I can think of is that it isn't a place for larger parties. And they close at an early hour during the week. But it is so good I am willing to remember their schedule.

The food, staff, and throwback diner feel were all excellent. Their biscuits with sausage gravy was too good for words. Also, their egg dishes, french toast, and milkshakes were great. Free newspapers to read at your table while you wait for your food was nice touch as well. Can't wait to try their lunch (and breakfast again and again).

I've been to burger joints all over the island and tasted lots of good and not so good burgers....but the Portabella Burger that they serve at CookRoom is THEE BEST hamburger I've had in a very long time.It was perfect the first time I had it and every time since. If you love great burgers, you gotta stop in and try this!

Finally, after years of eating omelets at diners that are all flat and spread out because they are cooked on a grill, I can have a fluffy, taste-filled delight thanks to The CookRoom. They use an omelet pan and give each one the personal touch they give all their offerings. And omelets are not the only treat. The CookRoom Combo is a warm sandwich stuffed with corned beef/pastrami wrapped around coleslaw on grilled rye that is, for me, now one of my favorite lunches.I also strongly recommend their spinach-tomato soup, if it is being offered. As an alternative to an omelet, try their "Uncle Pete's Stuffed French Toast."This is a family-owned and family-run small business that has a very friendly atmosphere and wait staff. It is a small, "silver bullet" diner straight out of the '50's and '60's.I don't write these reviews often, but don't take my word for it. Just visit once and see for yourself.

Good diner with good food. Service was reasonably prompt, and the food was good. Excellent range of breakfast choices and a more limited range of lunch choices, mostly focused on sandwiches of various kinds (although one of the specials of the day was beef stew), although still very good selection.

Pleasant experience and a nice place for a lunch break from work. This was also a welcome find given the limited number of choices in the area.

We split an omelette and one of their specialty french toasts. Both were phenomenal, but they give you almost too much food. all the people working there were really nice and gave good service even though they were really busy.

I thought the prices could be a bit lower. They have a new owner now and everything has changed. They don't have a kids menu. The bathroom is a bit small but it's all small. It's clean though, the waitress was very nice.

The Middle Island Diner is an authentic diner from the 1950s. Refurbished within the past 4 years, this diner has about 10 booths and a bar right in front of where the short order cook makes the food. There is all sorts of memoribilia from the 1950s decorating the diner, and music of the era plays.

The menu features items named after famous personalities of the era, including Dick Clark and Elvis. Do try the old fashioned milkshakes. Oh, and breakfast is served all day - Yum!

This diner isn't exactly handicapped accessible, and the parking is pretty lousy. But, the prices are great and the food is terrific. It's not even meant to be a tourist trap - it's just an old fashioned diner with low prices and good food.
