I celebrated my birthday here in the beginning of June and I could not have been more pleased. The staff was VERY accomodating from setting up an open bar for my party, to getting me and my friends a beer pong table. The bartenders were also great and served us our drinks pretty quick. I would absolutely recommend having a party here or even just going here on the weekend/during the week, if you're looking for a fun and chill place.

Texas flair in Mid Town. Plenty of screens to view your favorite game over a pitcher of carbonated adult beverage. Grab a sampler platter and feed your machine. A state of the art juke box with a wide selection too. A young and boisterous crowd competing at Beer Pong is fun to watch. Find a partner because you're next!

I went to a happy hour here last Friday and everything about the place was great! The staff was very friendly, there were great drink specials and the food was SO good. It's a very easygoing bar, perfect if you're just looking to relax. Some people behind us were playing beer pong, but I think on other nights they have other games/events.

I recently held a fund raiser at Whistlin' Dixies and I was overly pleased with how everything went. First of all, they gave all of the guests a 3 hour open bar for $40 per person. Of that $40, the bar donated back $20 per person for everyone that came. All I had to do was get people through the door, and I was able to raise a ton of money for a good cause. Everyone loved the place, they had beer pong set up and made sure all of the guests always had a drink in hand. It also helped that bartenders really knew what they were doing, and most importantly, actually had a great time with everyone there. This was a great experience, and I will definitely look to do it again soon. It may be a little bit off of the beaten path, but it is definitely worth the trip.

Came here on a Friday with friends to cap off the week with a few beers. Bartender was super nice and gave us our drinks quickly. Staff was friendly and attentive, always making sure we had enough drinks. Loved the atmosphere, relaxed and unpretentious with a young, casual crowd. The guys had a blast playing beer pong. We'll def be coming back.

I hosted a happy hour here for my friend's birthday. It was a lot of fun, and the perfect venue to draw together a crowd of friends and acquaintances! The atmosphere is completely laid-back, and the bar was actually really full (which I wasn't expecting, given the location). We were able to get a booth in the back room and had plenty of space to game of beer pong going. The bartenders were nice, overall, and helped us out with pitchers for the game. Good fun, cheap beer, good specials!

There is always beer pong! It's never over crowded. I'm glad I found this place, and i'll definitely go back again!

While one server was nice to us when we decided to leave, the rest simply appalled us in how they ignored my friend and me. We went there early Saturday evening to check out this dive type of bar since we frequent and are welcomed by others in NYC--past and present. There were a few people at the bar so it was not at all busy. My friend and I sat down at the bar first looking, then taking out money, and even signaling politely all to no avail to the bartenders who were not in the least occupied. I said, "Excuse me" twice to the bartender passing by who STILL blew by us, and it was not until I leaned over the bar and yelled to get her attention that she actually took our order.

My friend who is a minority living and working in finance in NYC for half his life sensed they were discriminating against him because of his ethnicity which he never feels. I truly do not know if this were the reason but I was astounded at such rude paltry service and would hate to think for even one moment that such prejudicial behavior could exist here in NYC and in a place with such favorable reviews.

With other dives in Manhattan like Coyote Ugly which welcome and respect their patrons, I see no reason to go to a place which hires such horrific and offensive staff.

Recently had a happy hour at Dixie's and my peeps and I had a blast. The staff were attentive, helpful and fun, making my group of shrinking violets feel right at home. Solid selection of tunes, coupled with sports on the TV's made even the most hard core BNT crowd feel at home. Beer Pong available at Dixies, which always fires up the competitive juices between the college crowd and the Hell's Kitchen locals. I'll definitely be back at Dixie's soon, as the unpretentious atmosphere, coupled with the understated surroundings, make it perfect for a night out with the guys or girls or both.

I just held my birthday party at The Whistlin Dixie Texas Tavern. We had the best time there! We did an open bar special in the back room. The staff was amazing and super friendly. We played beer pong and played our own c.ds all night. The atmosphere was so fun and so chill. Everyone had a ton of fun. I highly recommend holding any events there. We all dressed up in country attire and partied all night. Not one person said a bad thing about The Whistlin Dixie Texas Tavern. One of my friends went as far to say it was the best party she has been to all year long. I will definitely go back and would absolutely throw another party there in a heartbeat!

I went here for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday, and i have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The prices were extremely reasonable. I hadn't had a 5 dollar beer in AGES! We ordered a few pitchers, and played beer pong in the back room all night. From the gorgeous hostess Amy, to the friendly bartenders, Dixie's is a great bar amongst bars, and I definitely recommend that you pay them a visit!

On 2/21/09, I hosted a 26th birthday party for my bf at Dixie's. From the moment we arrived early, with our own balloons, and cake, we were met by our amazing server who immediately made sure we were comfortable in our huge open space in the back area of the bar. Ample seating, t.v., and the ability to bring our own custom two cd's for play during the evening definitely made Dixie's a stand out operation. We were immediately offered our free drafts for the first hour for the birthday celebration, and because my boyfriend love Corona's, our waitress bought one his way on the house! We were then treated to 2 for 1 drinks for the remainder of the evening and the long island iced tea was to die for! About 2 hours into the party, we got a game of beer pong going with our party and others in the bar. When setting up the party with the amazing planner, Katie, I was offered to set up beer pong or play nintendo wii. I chose beer pong because it was something that everyone could team up to enjoy. It was a great choice. We ordered nachos and wings for everyone to share and the food was amazing! My friends were all really shocked at how much fun we had at this little bar located between a honda dealership and gas station. I really can't say anything bad about my experience, and HIGHLY recommend this for birthday's. If you're looking for somewhere to have just a straight up no fuss good time, Whistlin' Dixies Texas Tavern is it!

This is one of my favorite dive bars on the west side - very casual atmosphere... usually a beer pong or flip cup game going on somewhere in the bar and some kind of very cheap drink special, depending day of the week. I live two block away and often come here to relive college glory or "pregame".

Held a birthday party a few days ago. Usually there is plenty of standing room in the bar, but when we showed up, it had been completely overrun by Zog Sports. We were a little uncomfortable at first how this would play out, but the staff handled it very well - politely cleared out a back room for us, set up several table arrangements we had requested, and provided us free drinks for the 20 minutes or so it took to do this. We ended up having a great open bar + appetizer combo for $30 a head. Arrival of our standard bar food was well-timed and of satisfactory quality. Manager came over a few times to make sure everything was okay and was very flexible to special requests (to set up mini-football, basketball, etc games we had imagined).

Good feedback from all of my friends afterward.

Pros: Chill atmosphere

Cons: Certainly not a place to go to meet beautiful people dressed beautifully, if that is what you are looking for

I organized a work happy hour for my company at Whistlin Dixie and it was a ton of fun! They gave us a great deal and everyone had a blast. They have big flat screens if people wanna watch the game and they had a fun live band. Its a really unassuming place where its fun to relax and have a few beers with friends. Definitely recommend it!

I contacted the bar to host a beer pong tournament for about 60 people. They were very accommodating and really went above and beyond. They had 4 tables ready to go for us, offered pitchers for $8, and even gave the winner of the tournament a $300 bar tab for free!

The bartenders were extremely helpful, the food was good, and music was great.

Only downside of the night was that my team lost in the final. Thanks!

My buddies dog passed away so we decided to drink-to his name and proclaim 08.08.08 'Piper the Dog Day'; WDTT was nice enough to extend us a one-hour 'K*ll the Keg' special -in his honor - how could we say no?!?!?! 50 of us showed up to exceptional service (despite the amount of degenerates in our group crowding the bar) from smokin' HOTTT bartenders, a great download-what-you-want-to-hear Jukebox, and a friendly doorstaff that was more than happy to handle the guestlist - leaving us with more time to drink n socialize. As the night progressed the Keg seemed to have no bottom, in fact, the bar became 2/1 until 10pm for those not drinking beer. We all agreed that we would be back - I just checked out their website and it appears they have ridicualously cheap drink specials 7 days a week - especially for a Midtown West bar!

Pros: Location, Bartenders, Specials

Cons: No 'Texas' Beer (i.e. Dixie Beer, Lone Star)

Hosted a Friday happy hour this past Friday with about 25 people from work and had a blast. It all started with organizing it which was so simple and convenient. I give the coordinator all the credit. She responded to all my emails and questions promptly and catered to pretty much all my requests. Once we got there the staff immediately set up beirut aka beer pong in the back room, upon our request, which is important for young professionals who want to relive the college days after working all week. We had the back room exclusively to ourselves although our party wasnt private. It had a couple booths, tables, and a TV so we could watch the yankee game. The staff/bartenders was extremely friendly and attentive. We never had a problem getting drinks at any time. Good music and drink specials only added to the good time......would definitely recommend checking it out.

I'm not just saying this- Dixies is the funnest bar on the island of Manhattan. It is one big party where the people are so friendly you completely forget that you are anywhere near NY. The staff are very friendly ,lots of fun and super hot. The 11th Ave locale wasn't the pain I thought it would be. The bars in Hell's Kitchen and has a genuinely friendly feel. Highly recommended

Went there this past saturday night with about 15 people, and we had an awesome time!!! It wasn't too crowded, drinks were cheap but good, and the bartenders friendly (and pretty!). Only thing that was a bit weird was that when I ordered shots, they were given in the big plastic beer cups - no biggy though, actually made them easier to pass around. Can't comment on the food, but hey, great bar! And they have beer pong! Great when you start running out of things to talk about. Will definitely go back!

Whistlin' Dixie's Texas Tavern generously supported Concern Worldwide US' Annual 4 Mile Run/Walk for Hunger in Central Park this year. They donated prizes to the Largest Teams which was very kind of them. Their donation was much appreciated as it helped us keep our costs down so that all the money raised from the event could go towards feeding the hungriest and most vulnerable people in the poorest countries aruond the world. So thank you to the staff and management of Whistlin'Dixie's Texas Tavern.

I just threw a party with Dixie's and we had a blast! Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly and willing to help us out with whatever we needed. The drinks were good (I hate those teeny-weeny drinks other places serve that are almost all mixer and no alcohol) and well priced. Dixie's is much less expensive than the other bars we used to go to, and we got better drinks and better service. I was a little worried about the 11th Ave location, but it was easy to catch a cab home--even at midnight on a Sunday. Our group had so much fun at Dixie's, no one could understand why we hadn't been going there all year!

I have used Citysearch for years, but never written a review. But my dinner experience at Whistlin Dixie was so bad I just had to set up an account so I could warn others!

Met some friends here on a Weds night to grab dinner before a show at Terminal 5. There was only one waitress; she was nice enough, but embodied the unfortunate combination of overworked and under-experienced. Even though when we arrived there were not many people there, we waited forever to have our order taken. Our food took almost an hour to arrive, and when it did, we were floored. Our $11 "Foot-long" burrito was a limp pathetic thing that I could have thrown together at home with some cheese, a can of beans, and a microwave. The tiny bowl of "Tortilla Soup" contained no tortillas, but only shredded chicken in a disgusting-looking dishwater broth with lumps of floating sour cream. The nachos were straight from a ballpark. And they were out of the vegetarian chili we ordered, but didn't bother to tell us until they delivered our food--and did not offer an explanation, apology, or replacement. And did I mention our food was delivered by the bouncer??

We actually considered leaving without paying. We are faaaar from food snobs, but this place was unbelievably bad and extremely overpriced. The only reason to go here is if you want a bad margarita in an environment reminiscent of an airport bar. And frankly, I've had MUCH better meals at airports.

Pros: one of the only restaurants/bars in the area

Cons: bad food, bad service, insane prices
