I went to the river house expecting a pleasant night out and the decor did not disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our party of four chose to be seated in the bar area because we were looking for a more casual dining experience. Unfortunately we were not impressed by the food presented to us. My fiance and I ordered the fried calamari and though some pieces where wonderful others were very large chewy and did not seem cooked all the way. When we move to our entrees we where once again disappointed. I ordered the broiled seafood patter with mashed potatoes and rice. My fianc order the 12oz Delmonico steak with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. My seafood platter consisted of three scallops three shrimp one crab cake and approximately a 4oz cut of haddock. All my scallops still had the small chewy muscle know as the foot still attached and they where gritty as if not rinsed properly. The haddock scallops and shrimp had no seasoning what so ever and they were all served to me warm as if they had been sitting for five minutes or so. Also I received vegetable medley instead of rice and my mashed potatoes where warm not hot. My fiances steak although cooked perfectly seemed to also lack seasoning. By sitting in the bar area we opted out of having a server but the bartender who brought our food never bother to ask if everything was alright nor did she ask if we needed refills on our drinks. Id also like to note that this was not a very busy night there were 2 other parties in the bar area.
