I am in love with Momoya. The staff is always friendly, the interior is beautiful, and the food is great.
I like to sit at the bar and watch the chefs assemble the rolls and cut the food. The miso soup is great, the rolls are good, and I

I've been here before and it's a pretty good, though overpriced, little sushi joint. But the other night I got a horrible, classic case of food illness (can't seem to use the real word Poiso@#ng becasue citysearch won't allow it...WTF?) . We've narrowed it down to some bass sashimi but little comfort there... So unless you want three days on your bathroom floor you should think twice about this place. When I called to tell them they denied it, of course, and didn't even offer to give my money back. Frankly I felt so lousy I didn't care. But a little sympathy and concern would have been nice. I will not be going back to this restaurant.

Cons: Got Sick!

We were a party of 3 that went to this restaurant for lunch a few days ago...
We were greeted very nicely at the front door and were given the choice of outside seating and inside.
It was pretty hot outside, so we decided to sit at the sushi bar. Great decor, very clean and it seems that had put the effort in the interior design.
We ordered the iced green tea and a few appetizers. The Pea Soup, edaname, soft shell crabs and agedashi tofu. It was brought to us precisely one after we finished a dish and we certainly enjoyed the soft shell crabs... I would strongly recommend it...

We ordered a bottle of Dassai (Cold Sake) and it came with an order of Shumai, and our entrees - Chilean Sea Bass, Sushi & Sashimi Combination platter + Dragon Roll (Soft Shell Crab).

The food was increadible - I am a sushi fan and the quality is very high here. The sake was at a perfect temperature and it really complemented the food, decor and atmosphere.

We finished our meal by sharing a Warm Chocolate Cake between the 3 of us.

Indeed such a wonderful experience, that we will try the Momoya located in Chelsea pretty soon.

We hope that you enjoy your meals here as much as we did.

Happy Dinning!!!

We went on monday night and the place was rather quiet. When we enter the restaurant ,coincidencely, the hostess lady open the entrance door with very warm welcoming smile. It was really relax me who just first time to get in this restaurant. The place was mordern as trendy but even sittings are very comfortable. The food was great such as cheviche , soft shell crab, and sweet beet salad but except omakase. We ordered the omakase, which, was not especially creative and was not variety at all. The regular sushi menu appeared to be reasonably priced considering the high quality of the fish. I would recommend ordering a la carte. The staff was very attentive and the host accommodating. Great addition to the UWS neighbodhood !

I have been to both restaurants and the food is almost identical, which is phenomenal. The Shumai and the Gyoza are some of the best in the city. I can get great dumplings in china town but here they taste like they have been freshly made and have unique texture and shape. the sushi is always fresh and tasty, my favorite roll now is the salmon crunchy roll, Sp. salmon with mango and avocado wrapped with crunchy rice. other dishes that are great are the Tai wasabi carpaccio, which is red snapper topped with wasabi sauce and japanese rice cracker.
the only downside to this place is their choice of a hostess, I went last friday and she was soooooooooooooooo rude to me and my wife (who is Japanese) we were shocked, I asked for the manager and she replied "I am the manager! what's the problem?" I felt helpless in my favorite place to eat :( So since i couldn't get a table on friday we decided to go to Chealsea on sunday. AGAIN! we encountered a bad feeling from the hostess but atleast this time we got a seat. we complained to our waiter about our expierence at both places and he went out of his way to explain to us that both girls were over stressed and that he was sorry for our inconvenience. I had this waiter at both restaurants and I am glad that there are people who care about customers these days and know how to speak clearly about what's going on. If you were thinking of going to this place please try to go early where you will get a table much easier that at 8 or 9 o'clock.

Pros: servers and sushi

Cons: hostess

This place has a really fresh and orginial menu and great sushi - the decor is nice and the waitstaff was attentive. It's a welcome addition to a neighborhood that has few good sushi places.

The only problem is when you try to order for delivery - the woman answering the phone is very rude and misinformed (after I questioned why she needed to charge me an extra $2 per roll for delivery, so told me she was too busy to "deal with my questions" and said "you'd better decide soon, cause once this goes into the computer, I am charging your card no matter what".) Hopefully - once she is gone - delivery will improve.

Pros: Tasty food

Cons: The woman answering the phone should probably work at the DMV, not a restaurant

This place has a great ambiance and the service is impeccable (and not in that annoying, rushed way). It is an overall relaxing and pleasant dining experience and I highly recommend it. It is also comparably priced with less trendy, less impressive sushi restaurants.
