Looks like Bounce Deuce wasn??t really trying too hard in the end ?? records show that during a NYC Dept of Health inspection shortly before it closed last month, the East Village sports bar was whacked with 71 violation points (a mere 28 points requires a follow-up inspection) for improper food-storage temperatures, evidence of live rodents, improper safeguards against contamination, improper toilet maintenance, and of all things, a trans-fat violation.

This place should be great, but it isn't. Good viewing of many large screen TVs but you can't hear a thing for all the screaming, yelling and other childish hooting and hollering by the young crowd that comes here for the beer bongs. It is no bargain either. The food is fair, the beer overflows and the boys are like H.S. jocks after they have had too much to drink. The girls...the waitresses are hot...but you can't get anything more than the big check. It's overcrowded..making it uncomfortable.

This place is pretty packed when major sports games/events are on. They require you to reserve tables and to spend a lot of money doing so. But if you go there for a few drinks after work on a weekday or on a non-major sports event day, it's pretty quiet. I went here with a few friends after work and the times that we have gone there, it has been a quiet place. Drinks are good. Food is ok, stuff like fries, calamari and the quesadillas are regular bar food-nothing that stands out that would make me wanna come back again for. They have a habit of always bringing free shots over to us whenever we go, which is nice. I just like to come here to hang out and talk and relax.

I and all my friends hate this place. The food is average but the attitude is UNBELIEVABLE. They ask people to reserve space for all events. Some friends of mine try to go there last night to watch the GAME and even thought the place was 3/4 empty at 730PM. They where told that they could not sit down because of the reservation. Can you imagine, a sports bar not letting fans patrons sit because of reservations. Now i've lived in NY and have done many things, but reservations for a SPORTS BAR on thursday night. THAT MY friends is not kool.
Some of the staff in this place have POLES up their asses too. The attitude is incredible. As a lower EAST side resident for over 10 years this place is by far the worst of all the new places that have moved intot my neigberhood. Dont get me wrong reservations for playoffs and superbowl that is a common NY thing for some bars but for a regular in season game. JUST STUPID.
THE IDIOTS THAT OWN THIS PLACE NEED TO Move THIS BAR BACK TO THE UPPER EAST SIDE!!!!!!!!!!

I went there for NFL Sunday a couple of times, and the story is the same: rude service or lack of service. When the place got a little crowded, the host had the nerve to ask us to leave, hinting that our tab is not sufficient for us to stay. Well, it's kind of hard to run up a tab when the waitress never came around to take our orders. Regardless, to have the audacity to ask customers to leave when they are not being at all disruptive is completely outrageous. In addition, the food is subpar. The calamari is chewy and not fresh, the fries are soggy, and the wings are overcooked and actually quite disgusting. There are tons of better sports bars in the city. Make sure you don't go to this one.

We went here for the Giants game last week and had a good time. We'd given them a card to hold for the tab, but paid it in cash at the end. Was disappointed to see that they had charged our card when we got home and checked online! Spoke to the waitress today who said that she will have the manager call us...

Went to watch the Jets\Pats game and was greeted at the door by a rude bouncer who thought he was working the door for The Limelight. The bar was packed and while looking for a place to stand I was told by the same bouncer "You can't stand here". Not sure what the deal is with this place but usually when you're in a customer service position you should be nice to the guests. Went down the street to Stillwaters on 78 E 4th St, met the owner who brought us seats and welcomed us. I'd rather give my money to people who actually deserve it.

Whoever wrote the previous review is a complete moron. I am extremely excited that the next time I go to the Duece I won't have to deal with such unprofessional patronism. whoever the girl was in your party deserved a rock to the face for her pathetic attempt to ruin the general sweet times and awesomely fun environment that the bar provides free of charge. "We kept ordering beer and they refilled it!!!" You sound like a complete fool. Take a long look in the mirror, break the mirror and then slit your throat with the shards of glass. It's the right thing to do. Honestly. I took a survey, put it to a vote, and everyone (including your mom and crazy aunt Nancy) agreed.

This place was an all-around nightmare. I was there on a weekend afternoon when the establishment was not crowded (we were nearly the only people in there), and we were still waiting forever on orders. We were ordering the tabletop kegs, and we noticed that they were refilling the same keg even when we ordered different beer to put into it. Eventually we got one that was musty because the keg needed changing or something. A girl at our table suggested that since we'd spent a lot of money and we'd gotten a bad keg, perhaps we could be treated to a round of shots. The waitress proceeded to YELL at her, stating that she'd been rude since we got there (she hadn't even spoken to the waitress until then) and suggested that we leave. We decided to leave even though food we had ordered hadn't been arrived, and the next day I checked the charges on my card to find that I'd been charged for the food and drinks that were never brought to our table. The manager did revise the charges when I was able to get him on the phone, however I cannot imagine returning to such a place.

Tom and his bimbos do not know how to honor a reservation. Skip this unprofessional establishment and head over to the Pourhouse on 11st & 3rd ave or Firefly on Spring st between Mulberry & Lafayette. These establishments will treat you with respect.

Strike #1: Lost satellite service for March Madness ?07.
Strike #2: Claims to have lost my confirmed reservation on the NFL?s opening night.
Strike #3: Did not honor my reservation for the NFC championship playoff game.

On each occasion I had a fairly large group with me and with the latter two, was left to scramble to find another bar that would accommodate us for the game.

My friends and I went to watch some playoff games last Sunday. We called ahead and were told that tables were reserved, but we were welcome to watch the game, order drinks, and food at the bar. We got to Deuce early and established ourselves at the bar. An hour later a very rude worker came over to us and said we had to get up. He needed our bar stools for a reserved table ? regardless of the fact we had a bar tab and were ready to order food.

If that is Bounce Deuces policy for Sunday football ? fine then they should say they are closed to the public. Because unless you have a reserved table they will very rudely rip the bar stool out from under you. With all the sports bars in the neighborhood, I wonder, why do people still go here?

only if there was a 6 star rating available. The only thing better than the crowd and the beer, is the staff. They did everything possible to seat us. Our table went from 5 to 7 to 8 to 10 to 12, and each time they pulled up chairs, rearranged tables, rearranged other parties (we didn't want them to go. they were awesome UT football fans), and did everything with those gorgeous smiles of theirs. the SC game was about to start, and i asked michelle if it was possible to have the game shown on a tv close to our table, and she goes "the SC game starts at 8:15 (without looking!). I'll make sure you don't miss a second of it". How she keeps track of everything is beyond me.

Michelle and Katie were absolutely terrific. the difference between a good bar and a great bar is the staff. Tom, you should be awfully proud of the girls you have. our entire party had an incredible time, including my fiance. Can't wait to do it again soon. All the best guys!

I went to Bounce Downtown to watch the football game, but found myself staying way after it because I was having so much. Not only the most incredibly hot staff, but actually very attentive. The manager made sure I was able to see my game, the food was fantastic, and the bartenders made sure I always had a drink. I couldn't be more pleased.

If you like a place that is ultra-loud, ultra-crowded for beer and sports then this is the place for you. Unfortunately the local residents of this blight upon the neighborhood are not as pleased with it as you might think. Regular outbursts from the large crowds indoors and the passersby watching the screens from the street have made this establishment a pariah. The 9th Precinct is often called to check on the premises.

I went into Bounce with a buddy to watch a football game recently and had a very bad experience. We got there early and reserved a TV. Just before halftime, the hostess came by and asked us to point out which TV we were watching. We pointed it out. A few minutes later, our TV was switched. We asked our waitress what had happened, and it took her more than 30 minutes to find an answer. The hostess later appeared and explained that she had to accomdoate someone else--so she just changed the channel without informing us. (Great timing, too--she changed it when the ball was in mid-air on a touchdown pass.)

I know these places get crazy on weekends. But the only reason I go to a sports bar is so that I can WATCH THE GAME I WANT TO WATCH. We did everything you're supposed to do--get there early, order lots of food and drink, tell them exactly what you want. Sadly, Bounce didn't deliver. So while the food was good and the atmosphere nice, I cannot recommend ti.

I've been going to Bounce Deuce since they opened last year. Every time i visit, it never seems to amaze me. Last friday i stopped by there and i noticed that the place looks even better, Finally they have great happy hour specials, the staff is even better looking and the food and menu have been changed to the better as well. The crowd was very goodlooking and the DJ tunes were jamming. Their HD plasma tvs, which they are about 20 of them, were showing every sport possible. I had an amazing time once again. I highly recommend it.

I just moved from syracuse to the lower east side.im a huge sports fan and I just found this place. they have 20 tvs with everything i want. I even went there to watch a UMASS game which isnt popular and the manager set me up at a table to watch it. He explained that the UMASS game wasnt in high demand but that he would accomodate me. He gave me a free appetizer and introduced me to one of the many hot waitresses. He gave me his card, name starts with a t, nice guy.I was an instant regular and everytime I come in either t or one of the other managers ask me what game Im here to see. The food is great and during the week they have half price appetizers and drink specials: unheard of in the this city. did i mention the hot staff. If u like sports, good food and hot woman this is the place.check it out

I went there to watch a game on a Wednesday (i.e. not crowded). Halfway through the game I turned around and found out that the manager had changed the channel so he could watch the NJ NETS. He left, and he happens to be the only one who knows how to change the channels. Nobody else in the barstaff can change a channel. Missed 10 minutes of the game because the manager just disappeared. When he finally came back, he would only put the game back on at a far far away TV. It was very unwelcome, especially as he was the only one that was watching the Nets. I won't go there again to watch anything.

This is a pretty decent sized sports bar that draws a early to mid 20's crowd as well as those that might be a few years older but act the same age. It can be very loud from the music to the sound system and can get packed very easily for big events. There are about 24, but most of them were tuned to the same game the night we were there (Saturday College Football) so what's the point, at least put some different games on. Beers are reasonably priced however for some reason you can't order pitchers from the bar only from a waitress. The food menu is pretty limited and very slow. It took 45 minutes to make a Chicken Caesar Wrap. The bartender was of no use. When I asked her to see if she could check on the food, it was received with a shrug of the shoulders and an indifferent attitude that there was nothing she could do. Needless to say, none of the bartenders that work there will be confused with rocket scientists. Overall, draws a crowd that's looking more for the nightclub hook-up scene as opposed to a true sports bar. Unfortunately, the best sports bar focus on the sports than trying to be hip.

so we were invited here to celebrate someone's birthday on Saturday night and it turned out to be a really good time!! The bartenders were really nice and the one girl was really funny. They walked around on the bar and poured (free) shots straight from the bottle and were just having a good time throughout the night. I was surprised how empty it was overall, but there was still a decent amount of people there.

Yes, it's a sports bar, but the music was really good! It didn't feel very "east-village-like" which was interesting. I'd definitely go back.

Bounce used to be my favorite place to go watch the World Cup games. The TV screens are nice, and the food is decent (although you don't get much for what you pay). We spent so much time there when the place was totally empty, and we have introduced it to at least three different groups of friends. However, the bar tender had a problem with the fact that some of us don't drink. So during an important game he refused to give us a table. Eventually after they finally gave us a table, we ordered our meals. As soon as we were done with our meal, the bar tender wanted us to order an additional $20 worth of food per person. We were unhappy with his rude tone (more than anything else) and we decided to leave. There are much better sports bars in this neighborhood!

Bounce used to be my favorite place to go watch the World Cup games. The TV screens are nice, and the food is decent (although you don't get much for what you pay). Pros: Nice TV screens- Bar is usually empty

Cons: Rude owners

I came here with friends a few times to watch World Cup matches because they have a nice array of HD televisions lining the walls. My friends and I don't really drink, but we're not mooches either. We all ordered $15-20 worth of food and drinks and were told that in order to sit at a table we needed to order $20 worth of food and beverages per match. I could understand if we were at ESPNZone, but this is the Village! To make it worse, the bartender came over and told us in a very cold manner as if we hadn't been patronizing the establishment the past few weekends (and bringing in our friends). We would have maybe ordered a few more drinks and some appetizers, but we weren't paying another $20 per head. I don't think this place can survive in that neighborhood with that kind of attitude. Maybe that stuff flies in mid-town, but not in the East Village.

Pros: Nice TVs, decent food

Cons: Too business-minded

My husband and I had dinner at Bounce tonight and wondered why the owners are making the same mistake as the last restaurant on that corner (Smoked). We were attracted to all the screens for watching sports, but were disappointed with the food. Not the taste really - that was fine, but the "quantity for your buck" aspect. I mean, what kind of sports bar serves a burger for $9 without fries!? We got a $9 appetizer, too, of about 2 pieces of pita bread and three tiny spots of dip served in a swanky bowl! Maybe you get away with that in another neighborhood, but not in the East Village! If this place is going to survive, it has gotta serve more food for the prices...and forget being swanky - remember where you are and who's going to a sports bar!!
