i saw a glimpse of some really beautiful pieces but i really wasnt given a chance to look around because as soon as i walked in the door the salesman was pushing dresses in my face one after the other (all butt ugly ones too) even when i told him i just wanted to look around. so i left. i went to the broadway location to give it a second try and he was THERE AGAIN! so i turned around and walked out and wont be back again.

I haven't actually checked to see if Roni is still on St. Mark's, but the only location I have been to is at 657 Broadway (btwn Bond and Bleecker). From past reviews, it seems that the store was cramped. This location is still small, but CHARMING. It has a ground level with a dressing room and a loft with mostly sale items and shoes.
I ducked into Roni on a rainy evening to browse and dry off a bit, but I never expected to be so taken by the store! The sales associates, Tim and Christine, were so helplful and friendly. I had nowhere to be, so I spent a good hour in the dressing room trying on different outfits that they threw at me. They really knew their stuff, and they were honest about what looked good on me and what didn't. I ended up buying two dresses and a jacket, all for a little under $300 (one dress was a sale item that was free when you bought two regularly priced items!) I have had massive compliments on all my pieces from Roni and would recommend it for original pieces and outstanding customer service!

Pros: Unique pieces, awesome customer service, convenient location

Cons: A bit pricey for a college student, most pieces are one-size-fits most (many Asian designs) and may not fit bigger people, Exchange or store credit returns ONLY (no cash or credit back)

I live in the East Village and I just discovered Roni a few weekends ago. It's a great place to find a unique well priced dress for many different occasions (pieces for work, play, and semi formal events). The store in welcoming and the sales guy was very friendly, helpful, and attentive, but never pushy. Overall great experience. My dress got many many compliments (I wore it the night I bought it.) Check it out when you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Pros: Unique Dresses, Reasonable Prices, Friendly Staff, Great Music!

Cons: too small maybe? but this is the charm of the EV Boutique

i went into roni looking for a dress for a date i had last weekend and could not find a thing that i thought was worth what they were charging for it. the stuff is cheap and poorly made, nothing fit well and the staff was far from helpful (one was outside smoking the entire time and the other girl didn't bother to say a word to me). if i wanted cheap, trendy dresses made abroad i would have gone to forever 21 or h&m.

Pros: close to other stores with better things

Cons: bad service, poor quality, overpriced

It's so hard to find interesting, stylish clothing when you're on a budget, so I was so pleased to find Roni. The atmosphere is clean and minimalist -- all the better for showing off the fabulous collection of dresses, separates and accessories. And the staff really knows how to help you put it all together. They really let you know if a color or shape doesn't work on you -- and they take the time to help you find what does look good. Great service and great clothes -- all at amazing prices! I LOVE THIS STORE!

Cons: The store's not big enough -- I want more Roni!

wandering around the east village late (for shopping) saturday night I discovered this gem. All the ?Pedestrian? boutiques (one after the other with the same sh-t ) were all ready closed.

From the minute I walked in I felt special, on further inspection of the clothes on the racks, I know THEY WERE SPECIAL. The best, must have, runway looks at unbelievable prices! I tend to only shop at high-end vintage stores, designer, and the odd couture piece. I work in fashion, so I have to be on point. They had so many one of a kind pieces I needed My head was spinning. Love my purchases, hate to share my secret store, you rock RONI!!

Also trying to avoid the mad rush of people shopping on Broadway after a long day of work, I ventured down the streets of St. Marks- however I was actually quite pleasantly surprised. As soon as I walked into the store I found at least 5 articles of clothing that I was dying to try on. The clothing in this store is extremely unique and most importantly- very comfortable! The style is very trendy- with a Harajuku twist- and many of the things that I tried on actually looked better on me than they did on the hangers... which is NOT something that happens very often! It's the type of clothing that you look at and think "I could never pull that off", but when you do try it on you may find yourself reconsidering. The staff was also very helpful, but no too overbearing (which I hate!) and.... oh yea! I love the jewelry! Great earring and bracelets! Overall, I left the store not feeling guilty about my purchases, and a big plus.... you don't have to worry about seeing someone else with the same outfit because their clothing is very one-of-a-kind.

p.s.- love the little keychains (especially the little robot-bear ones)!!!... it's hard to leave the store without purchasing one... great gifts for you girlfriends too!

the sale sign beckoning, i randomly ran into roni the other night with about 20 minutes to spare before my housewarming party was to begin, desperate for sartorial shake-up and frazzled beyond belief. upon my entrance, i was taken aback by the inventive designs, young-professional-in-nyc-friendly pricepoint, and remarkably warm service. the salesperson immediately attended to me, even engaging me in conversation (atypical of aloof employees elsewhere in east village boutiques) and making suggestions for potential outfits. i left with two beautiful (and versatile - thank god for the layering and nighttime/daytime blending trend) dresses for less than i'd expect to pay for one at every other boutique. certainly, this place is a gem, and i look forward to watching other inspired japanese designs surface there. one thing to remember though is that once something at this shop is gone, it's gone for good - both a wondeful and tragic thing.
