Love the name change I just wanted to say what a pleasant experience I recently had with Allyn and his assistant Tania . They truly made a bad hair day to the greatest. Over uptown near Columbia University! Quality does pay off. Keep up with the great service. Thanks Maria G

Pros: everything

Cons: update website

I've been going to Revolver (formerly Shears Hustle & Blw) for over a year now, and have continually received some of the best hair cuts of life (I'm a guy by the way). Though with the new ownership the price has gone up (now $45), I don't see myself switching locations any time soon. Many stylists don't have a clue when it comes to barbering skills for men's cuts, but the staff at Revolver knows their stuff. Allison - a new edition since the recent ownership/name change - gave me the best hair cut of my life a couple weeks back which is definitely worth a shout out. She is technically precise and a true perfectionist - qualities I appreciate when it comes to my hair. If you're looking for some flare and big personality by a man who cuts with the enthusiasm of Edward scissor hands, go to Massimo at the 3rd ave and 14th street Ricky's. He is the man, and his skills are right on par with Allison's - just offers a different experience - one that you won't forget I might add. Though my work location gives me easier access to the Soho Revolver, I'll surely be back up to 3rd ave to pay Massimo a visit.

Pros: Allison and Massimo - two of the best stylist I've come across

Cons: wasn't a fan of the recent $5 price increase... but its still worth it.

I work in the beauty business and I have to say the haircut I received from Lisa Stancliffe was the best I've had in a long time! She did a great job with my fine hair and cowlicks! The salon, now named "Revolver", is small and no-frills (although perfectly cool). Don't let that stop you from making an appt with Lisa- you'll be glad you did! Plus the pricing can't be beat- I've paid 3-4 times this amount for haircuts that weren't as good. The one bad thing is she only works on Tuesdays- so book an appt. before she becomes too popular!

Pros: Lisa Stancliffe- a hidden gem of a hair stylist!

Cons: Lisa only works on Tuesdays

Lisa S. at the newly named Revolver salon is possibly the greatest stylist I've ever come across. Like the others in this salon she's from SOMEPLACE - Sasoon. But my hair is layered, long , wavy - not what one thinks of as Sasoon. No problem. She's BRILLIANT. The cost is what you're looking for in this economy. Half of what I was paying uptown. I am thrilled. What am I doing?! I'll never be able to get an appt now!

Pros: LISA S. !!

Cons: Some of the frills of a cut at twice the price are missing? Who cares?!

I think I have been to every salon in NY ! But my search is over ,I tried this Salon (i admit a little reluctantly) after a few of my co workers suggested it. Got my color with Richard and cut with Lisa and I couldnt be more pleased with my hair. Both were very professional and really listened to what I wanted but best of all they actually delivered on what was promised. The price is half of what I normally pay for mediocre results So now I feel like I won the hair lottery.

Pros: Excellent color and cut

Cons: None

I found this place on my way home from work ,got a haircut from Lisa. I normally go to Arrojo Salon. My cut is just as good and I saved some money. Actually - I think this cut might even be better cause its growing out great and I get compliments on it still. The place is a little odd because its connected to Rickys but I gave it 5 stars because I am rating it on the cut. Staff were very friendly and too.

Pros: great cut, professional staff, haircuts are not overpriced

Cons: your not paying more to be in a fancy salon?

I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about this place in the past but I heard they just changed the name (Revolver Salon) and the staff. All are from top NY salons like Sassoon , Arrojo, and Bumble& Bumble. So i gave it a try I got my haircut from Lisa I wanted a big change, it took about 40 min. she was soooo precise I walked in a nervous wreck and within 5 min of watching her hands and cutting I was so happy I found her!!My cut is awesome people stop me everywhere even guys ask me where i got my cut. She is only there on Tues.(so thats the only day I'll be getting haircuts from now on) Cuts were very well priced- why go to a student somewhere when you can get a stylist like this!! She is NY's best kept secret by far.!!

I've never had as good a haircut as this! Lisa is amazing. I went to SHB to save a few bucks, never thinking I would get such a great cut. I hate to post this because it will make it that much harder to get an appointment with her (she's only there on Tuesdays), but she's too good to keep to myself.

Pros: Great price

Cons: Downtown

The only good thing about this salon is the decor. The prices are reasonable. THE STYLISTS ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Rada failed to keep tabs on me while I was under the heater and let my scalp LITERALLY boil. No exaggeration. My scalp was completely burned. It is two weeks later and it has still not healed, there are scabs all over my scalp. It is sore to the touch. It was dripping pus down my back. On top of that, she didn't even achieve the hair color I wanted. The manager refused to give me a refund for my money, even after disgusting evidence of negligence. I am still persuing my refund. I would NEVER suggest this salon to anyone. These people are jerks.

Pros: deocrations are cool, prices are decent

Cons: unskilled stylists, poor managerial skills, stylist does not listen to what you want, try to force products on your bill

.

Great little hidden salon. guys don't want anything too fancy, they want a decent price and they want someone who knows what they're doing. i tried a few stylists there. Candice was definitely the best. she can do funky, cool cuts and can suggest looks when you have no idea what you want. highly recommend her. not sure how often she works there. you can contact her: Candice (347) 224-9689

This place was AMAZING. I went to David; I have SUPER thick hair and I've had some recent disasters with bob cuts, because my hair would stick out in the back. I went here today with a picture on my iPod of how I wanted it, and David even went over to the computer and looked it up to get a bigger idea of it. I got Victoria Beckham's "pob," and it really does look exactly how I wanted it. I didn't think it would work with my thick hair, but it did.

Pros: Talented stylist

Cons: the hostess seemed a little mean

I really like this salon. It's not the most customer oriented salon but will do. I usually pay a few hundred dollars on my hair. I don't care paying that much , as long as I know , I am getting the best. I have been to bumble and bumble , warren tricomi, frederic fekkai , etc,etc.. Shears, hustle, andblow salon have by far the best hair stylists in nyc in my opinion. I have tried everyone there and they're all equally pretty good but each one have they're own style and technique . I sometimes let Tomas do my hair when no one else's available, mostly just blow-dries. They just hired a new girl "Candice", she is "AMAZING"!!! I'ved never gotten so many compliments on my color.

The neon onslaught that is Ricky's beauty stores is almost absent in its all-white Soho salon, but the inner wild diva makes herself known in other ways. An elaborate chandelier of golden hairdryers is the salon centerpiece, and DJs turn the place into a disco on weekends. It's almost hard not to become distracted from the main purpose of your visit--be it an edgy statement or classic look. The magenta-mohawked stylist can work cut and color magic on any kind of hair.

This small salon hides a great gem and his name is Tomas.
I'm skeptical when it comes to trying out new stylists because of my thick, curly hair but Tomas really worked it. He completely understood my apprehensions and I'm so glad I put my trust in him. I couldn't be happier! He's the one! But I'm willing to share, so if you go to Shears, you HAVE to go to Tomas! I've referred my friends to him and they all love him as well.

Was recommended by a friend of mine and after reading great reviews I figured I'd give it a shot and I'm defiantly not disappointed! A nice atmosphere, no long waits, staff was very friendly and stylist did an excellent job! He obviously knew what he was doing and knew exactly what I wanted. As soon as I got my haircut I received compliments from strangers on the street. I defiantly recommend Shears Hustle and Bl0w salon to anyone who wants a great hairstyle for a reasonable price. Keep up the good work!

I love Ricky's for Halloween costumes and random other things. But I had no idea they would open a salon and on top of that it be a great place to get a great cut and style at a very reasonable price. They also offered personalized service and the staff was amazing. Tomas especially was a wonderful stylist - very intense, cared about his work, and had a great attitude. Everyone was extremely friendly and the salon, despite being in a busy area, offered personalized service and a neighborhoody feel. Will definitely be coming back!
