Last night some friends and I went to this club, now known as Secret, as I am in town from Boston and my buddy is departing for CA. It seems the "secret" is that this place is washed up despite the glitzy appearance.

The cover charge is about two bucks too high, which I can deal with, and the floor is pretty good (cool lighting, mirrors, seats) despite a DJ who looked like a throwback to the early 80s. Drink prices are as expected.

It's too bad the bartender I got twice was out to lunch. After we realized the beer selection sucked, I ordered pretty much the most basic mixed drink ever. She had to ask how to make it, and then preceded to make god knows what. To add to injury, I gave her a $20 for the $5 drink (+1 tip) and got $9 back. After tasting it, I asked for something else and she said she was "too busy" (untrue), and then refused correct change. I've had worse bartenders, but come on.

The crowd was pretty much the clincher. Most of the joints I've been to are packed with energetic, young 20-somethings. This place felt like a 20 year high school reunion, with borderline 40-year-old women running from repressed, over-tanned 30-year-olds. The tension was so thick, I felt like I was back at a middle school dance. Thankfully, our group came with a few ladies, so we made our own good time after some booze.

Overall, avoid.

Pros: Decent dancefloor, reasonably priced drinks

Cons: Overpriced cover charge, poor bartending, lame crowd
