I eat out in Rochester at least once a week. Every week its a new place in order to discover jewels of the city. Lento is now my favorite of three in all the Rochester area. I love everything about it. The food was wonderful with fresh ingredients, fresh herbs and great pairings of spices. The chef uses herbs and spices to create unique and out of this world dishes rather than using an over abundance of salt and garlic. Every dish we had was heaven.
The staff was super friendly, attentive, informative and honest. Our waiter was just wonderful. They didn't mind sharing ingredients of dishes or splitting a dish so we could each have some. There also was no "plate split charge". It was so nice to not get the answer..."its chef's secret" when inquiring about something.The bar staff was meticulous in making my drink. I was impressed since I like it just right and even asking specifically at places I've gotten wrong more than correct. Lento did just as I asked. It was perfect.
The chef was also impressive when he came out to talk with us. We were asking all kinds of questions about his dishes that he came to talk with us personally for a few minutes. It was just over the top service and you can tell he really cares about his food.
The location is super easy too. Just take Goodman street from 490. Its about 1 mile down. There is tons of parking that is totally free.
I need to comment on what we were most impressed with in that the chef uses all local ingredients when they are available. We love supporting the local economy. Our neighbor told us about this place. I'm so glad they did.
Please please give this place a try! You won't be disappointed. We need this place in Rochester. It is truly a JEWEL!

Fantastic food, great service, what more can you ask for? A menu that changes every day depending on whats in season and fresh? There is nothing here that isnt the best. A wonderful place for a romantic date.
