I was so excited to go for model color. Waited 1hr and 15 min- no one even asked me if i would like a glass of water When the colorist was finally available I reminded her that I wanted dramatic color-for a vibrant red with blond

I went into this salon a little nervous because I'm always a little (lot) nervous letting someone new do something to my hair. I had watched Louis Licari "ambush" people on the Today Show and every single time thought they looked so much better. I was in New York from South Carolina to help my son move into an apartment as he's attending NYU and figured I'd let Louis ambush my hair. :-) My hair was too dark and too red for my liking. Since it had started graying about a year ago, I felt I had lost the true color I liked (my natural plus highlights) in the process of trying to cover up the gray. I didn't try this myself, of course. I had been visiting a salon. I told Louis I just wasn't happy with my hair and asked him what he thought. I wasn't about to tell him what to do with my hair color. He knows better than I do. He proceeded to work on my hair and the end product was how I envisioned my hair and what I thought my hair was (but better!) when I was so much more happy with it -- before the graying started. How he could look at my hair and come up in his head and perform the process it would take to give me exactly what I wanted is beyond me. I know it's why he's thought of so well and why he's on The Today Show, styling celebrity hair, etc. I ended up with a base color I LOVE and two highlighting colors I LOVE. As for Louis himself, he was very nice and personable and I was glad to meet him. I also liked Natalie very much -- she shampooed my hair, conditioned it, etc. She did a lot of work and was so sweet the entire time. My haircut/style was done by Rich (very amiable person!) and thank you Rich for not wanting to chop all my hair off -- and for giving me such a beautiful and sexy style. It's exactly what I wanted. My entire experience was so nice today -- from the water w/lemon, to the cookies, to the friendliness of everyone I met. This is definitely something I want to do again. It's so nice to love my hair again. My 25 year old daughter was with me in the salon today and she said, "Mom, can I get a color/haircut there for my birthday as my present this year?"

Pros: COLORISTS

Cons: PRICES ARE HIGH BUT WORTH IT

I have only been here twice but i never ran out crying.... The reception area could use to a bit of change(MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE) but the colorists are awesome The 2 times i have been was once with a girl named Kazoo sweet friendly lady but my favorite was with this woman i believe her name was agnes. She actually listened to me gave me what i had wanted without making me look like one of those nyc tramps. she had a few clients while working with me so i didnt feel like one but over all i was happy with my serivce and would recommend both ladies

I have been to Louis Licari several times before and I have always been very happy. Yesterday I went for highlights and a cut and after a $400 bill I left in tears. While I was having my highlights done my colorist was also working on at least 3 other people and she was flustered and running around. She was friendly but didn't listen to what I wanted with my higlights and I was very specific! Then, when I got my hair cut the stylist DID NOT LISTEN. I said simply one inch off the back and one inch off of my bangs. He chopped at least 2 inches and put short layers and thinned out my already thin hair! I HATE IT! When I noticed all the hair he was cutting I asked him what he was doing and he acted annoyed he told me to relax it would be fine. Needless to say I will NEVER return....

Best haircolor, I haven't been able to find a better color anywhere in New York, London or Paris. My colorist is Yolanda, the best professional I've ever known, if you try her, she'll listen to you and you'll leave the salon as happy as I do each time that I go to do my hair. Her price for the quality? really good and fair. Her character and behavior? excellent.

Louis has been around a long time - and it shows--he is cranky and picky. He has some very talented people working in his palace but his attitude is a turn off- this man needs to be a little more humble.
Attitude from the top filters down----there are far to many salons in NYC where the owners don't have attitude.

I have been a client of Allan's for 10 years. He has moved to the Wonderland Beauty Parlor located at 418 W. 13th St. 212-524-2800 if anyone else is looking for him!

By far best hair colorists in the USA. Make an appointment with Yolanda and you will also find, real european class and a hair color so natural and beautiful that people will tell you how beautiful is your hair. I had never had the color quality I got from her and now I all my friends travel to NYC fron New England for a day at Louis Licari whenever we need it.

I visited the Louis Licari hair salon after a botched up haircut left me feeling unattractive and completely scared to go anywhere near a pair of scissors. I have very curly hair, and decided to give them a call after reading A.Dickey's "Hair Rules" (a book I would also highly recommend for anyone with curly hair). Not only was I able to book an appointment directly with Dickey (who has done many celebrities' hair including Sarah Jessica Parker and Minnie Driver), but I was able to do so within a matter of days. The staff was extremely curteous and understanding, and Dickey did a fabulous job with my hair. Now I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!

Louis Licari salon is hands down the best of the best! I went in for an appointment with Kathy (colorist) for a double process and she listened to what I wanted and then explained how I could get the same results by doing something less damaging and less in price. I saw Rich after for a haircut and to my surprise he didn't comment on how dead my ends were and how he would be able to make my hair healthier without cutting it all off! I walked out and was so pleased and looked soooo 5th avenue I was dying to run into everyone I knew! Cudos to Louis Licari salon!

I have been to many top NYC salons for color..frederic fekkai, john barrett, bumble & bumble...and my color was always...OK. Today I saw Paige at Louis Licari and for the first time, I actually LOVE my color. I will never go anywhere else! To top it off, the staff was wonderful...so friendly and my hair actually smelled GOOD post color. The salon is not exactly "luxe", but it is spacious and comfortable. Of course the price is pretty steep...but well worth it.

In Short
The white walls, black floors, and no-frills design do little to announce this bi-level salon as one of New York City's most sought-after. But a long list of celebrity clients--who get coiffed in the salon's private VIP…
