Ciro's serves uncomplicated delicious Italian food. All the ingredients are fresh and light. My favorite dish at Ciro's is the pasta primavera - it is piled with a variety of delicious fresh vegetables. Not tiny overcooked chopped up pieces but generous portions of fresh vegetables prepared to perfection. You can order any pasta dish in any sauce you like (vodka, bolognese, oil and garlic, etc), and each sauce is as good as the next. The decor is contemporary and also uncomplicated. A very nice dining experience.

Quite a Surprise on Monday Night
by BWFood
My girfriend and I, decided to spend the long weekend in NY, in our last night in the city, we came to Ciro, when we were surprised by the wonderful food, my veal parmegiana was delicious and my girfriends lamb chops were amazing, and also as it was monday they had this special going on, any bottle of wine was half price, and very good wines already for a good price, even better paying only half price.
The service was great, they were quite busy but never forgotten us.
It was like an early Valentine's weekend with an wonderful ending.
Pros: Great wine seleciton and Great Service
Cons: We only went there once, it was our the last night of the trip.

Just ok
by jspyron
My wife and I took our mothers here before going to see Chicago. The food was ok but the place is very loud and cramped. If you are looking for quiet and romantic this isnt it. The ceaser salad was good but my wife didnt care for her calamari. She did love her lobster ravioli though. All in all the food was ok nothing to write home about and pretty reasonably priced. If you are just looking to get something to eat then this place is fine. If you are wanting a memorable dining experience you might need to try somewhere else.
Pros: good value for your dollar
Cons: loud, cramped, pretty slow service

Getting better all the time
by sfrucht02
I thought this restaurant was a good place to take my Mom for dinner, but never a place to take a foodie or my gourmet boyfriend. I didn't even find it to be authentic Italian. The marinara was bland, no flavor whatsoever. In fact the calamari was the same, bland, little, spongy rings of grease. I thought it was an easy spot to stop before a play, but I'd never go out of my way to eat here. The dinning room is VERY noisy, you have to shout for your party to hear you over the noise. The waiter also disappeared after we ordered, we waited for more wine for at least fifteen minutes--But I overlooked the wait-service being less than perfect because it gets very busy there at dinner time.
Pros: theatre district/owner makes an effort to make you feel home
Cons: busy/loud

by caluu
I come to NYC once a year for the Broadway shows and came to this restaurant for the first time. I couldnt be happier with my choise. The food was delicious and what a nice portion. The service was great and will definitly come back.
It seems like these guys really know how to take care of the theatre crowed. the place was full but everyone seemed very happy and satisfied.
Pros: good food, good service, great portions, great prices and near all theatres
Cons: the only one in town

They'll treat you like family!!
by jcatanzaro
My favorite restaurant in NYC. My mother and I have been going their for many years, and the food is always delicious. The people who work their, Marcello, Victor, Diego, and Caroline treat us like family, and we think of them as family also. It's a wonderful atmosphere!

Never a bad meal!
by Jo6465
Ciro's is a great place to eat when you're going to the theater. It's close enough (just a couple of blocks to Broadway) yet just far enough away from the theater district to avoid the high prices and congestion of Broadway. The food is excellent (never a bad meal!) and the service is always friendly. Try Ciro's next time you're in Manhattan...you won't be disappointed!
Pros: Great food, prices, service, and ambience
Cons: none

by cassidmi
My husband and i went a few fri's ago and loved it! nice quaint corner restaurant w/ nice street views, great service and great food! since it was friday during lent we ordered meatless meals. husband had the fettuccini alfredo and i had the gnocci in vodka sauce. we both finished our meals! perfect sized portions with average prices to go along with it. pasta dishes were approx $15. We also started with the fried mozz appt and garden salad and again both were fab! we were seated quickly w/ reservations and have no complaints. i would definitely go back again. great location too to all b'way shows.
Pros: quick seating, window views from any table
Cons: small but not too small

Good food, bad service.
by lizthan
I went there on 8/18 before the theatre. The food was very good, but the service was poor. The waiter never even made eye contact with us! Our waiter and busers tried to take our food before we were finished. One buser actually rolled her eyes when I asked for a knife! We had reservations so there was no reason to try to rush us. However we enjoyed the appetizers and main meal. The dessert was forgettable( cheese cake and chocolate cake).
Pros: sauces delicious
Cons: service poor

Well priced, amazing food, great service...what more can you ask for?
by pglikestoeat
My girlfriend and I frequent Ciro for several reasons. First, you rarely need a reservation. Even on weekend nights, they often have a table waiting for you immediately, if not within a few minutes. Second, the service is excellent, and waiters always make you feel right at home. Third, the environment is classy, yet comfortable. Fourth, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the food selection and quality is OUTSTANDING. Love it. Try the veal, the lobster ravioli, the fettuccine Alfredo, or any of their daily specials. I'm getting hungry just writing this review. Another note: The restaurant itself is not very big, yet it remains very comfortable, intimate and the space is set up so you will never feel like a sardine. Above all, Ciro is a hidden gem amongst hundreds of overpriced, snobby NY Italian restaurants.
Pros: Great Food, well priced, great service, rarely need a reservation
Cons: none.

Belissimo
by psampdoria
Wonderful Food, Cheerful staff. The hostess was a charming girl who directed us to our table, a nice table next to the window. Great service, good wine list not overpriced. The food was great very italian, a Great Lasagna as the waiter said, "Only Nonna beats it". The seafood dish served with capellini was very fresh and tasteful, and the Lobster was more than enough for one person, but so good that no one wants to share it. Next to the theather we were going, no trouble getting in there. Reservation is a must.
Pros: Food, Location, Wines and Service

Caught by surprise We decided to celebrate at Ciro. Nice Family Place. The waiter didn't recognize us at first, but even without a reservation, We got a table, took about 10 minutes, but It was worth it. We were 7, we got a round table, the restaurant was packed, but the food delicious, the service was very friendly and prompt. It took a little time to get the food, but we had a change to savor the appts. Peppers Royale, Gorgonzola Salad, Mussels Marinara and Baked Clams. Then When we were served our entrees, delicious. My girlfriend had the lobster, her mother had the Lasagna, I had a steak, my mother had the lamb chops. Everybody was happy. And we left on time to go to see Chigado, just down the block.
Pros: Ambience, Service, Food and Bar
Cons: We had to leave

In a nutshell
by zorak62000
After waiting an extremely long time (the place was almost empty!), when the food was delivered, one of our party received the wrong dish. When brought to the waiter's attention, he named what the dish was, and my friend told him what she had actually ordered. Looking perplexed, the waiter went abd brought his manager to the table. Upon repeating to the manager that she had received the wrong dish, the manager asserted that she was wrong, and had ordered what she received, and walked away! I have never seen such cold treatment from an allegedly good restaurant guest in my life.

My husband and I had a wonderful pre-theatre dinner at Ciro Trattoria last night. We were seated at a table at the window- had wonderful service, and a delicious meal for a great price. The potato-crusted salmon, and spinach panzanella salad were delicious We're looking forward to returning!
Pros: good value, great food, wonderful service

Fine Italian Fare
by frank040
Very good Italian food, reasonable prices, good service. Two things that make this place a return visit: ALL pastas are cooked al dente + great bread basket (too bad about the cafeteria style foil wrapped butter pats).
Pros: Small & Cozy, Great Service, Theater District

Delightful!
by kingrey4
My friends and I were visiting NYC for my 40th birthday and just happened upon Ciro Trattoria. The precious bartender took our photo, and the oh so nice waiter seated us right by the window. The food was great, and the ambience was soothing after a long day in an airplane. What a great introduction to the nice people in the theater district.
