Pros: food, service, music, drinks

Cons: some days live music very loud

.

Don't know what people are talking about with the service. I came in with 2 friends and our waitress was there right away. She was sweet and funny and very attentive. I got the raspberry martini and it was amazing-so delicious! My friend's honey ginger martini was stronger but tasted just like a coughdrop. The atmosphere was cute-the only con I can think of was the live music was loud and weird, but it wasn't terrible, just kind of funny. Great place-will definitely return.

Pros: Delicious drinks, good service, pretty place

Cons: slightly strange performance, a little small, strange bathroom

had the unbelievable misfortune of eating at this place with a party of 6 very recently and must relay the horror of doing so so that you will not be sucked into the same trap. Lets recount the horror: Joined our party as they were seated, all had menus. Waited for 20 minutes before having to ask waitress for our menus. not terrible, but read on. took drink orders from our party, but left us off. another 15 minutes, had to flag her down for our drinks. still not terrible. comes back with drinks piecemeal. 2 get theirs, then another two, then us. read on. takes our orders, apps, entrees. probably 30 minutes later, brings my gf her entree along with apps for everyone else, albeit we (me and her had ordered apps) got no apps. girl comes to table, "can I get u anything else" "my app would be nice" says me. waitress mea culpas for that and for switching the entree and app with my girl. starting to get angry right about now. order more drinks, which are good, buddy orders wine, which they never bring. entrees come piecemeal takes about 15 minutes for same. my girl gets wrong entree and I simply never get mine. I wait, assuming an oversight. But it just never comes. I'm 2 drinks in and fuming. my girl is petite so I devour half her food. We flag down waitress re my entree. Somehow she never took the order so I tell her to forget it. I also make the determination that they get no tip from me, except for on the drinks which were good. after waiving our hands for at least 15 minutes for a check (in honesty the place was somewhat busy, but so what)--we get our check and the BEST PART----18% GRATUITY INCLUDED GUYS!!!! NOT ONLY THAT, ITS CASH ONLY!!!! even though same is nowhere on the menu in clear violation of NYC Code. I lose it and start yelling at the waitress.. she tells me she'd doing her best. i lose it asking for owner and/or cop--I short change bill by $30. clearly a money laundering operation for russian criminals. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Pros: Live Music, Good Drinks

Cons: Unimaginably bad service, truly unimaginable

Like most native New Yorkers I've been out to hundreds of cafes and restaurants, but nowhere has the service been as bad as this past Wen. night at Anyway Cafe. Not only did the bartender have ABSOLUTELY no personality, it was almost impossible to get a drink. My friend and I had to hunt her down and interrupt the many conversations she was having on her cell-phone in order to get a glass of wine. After two hours of not being asked for another glass I paid and left. Another woman approached us (overhearing us ridicule the bartender) and said that it was her third time at Anyway Cafe, twice with the incompetent bartender, and told us to not sit at the bar tue-fri. The food was not bad and the ambiance quite nice. I encourage the owners to get a hold on their worthless employee. No matter how beautiful and centrally located a cafe might be, no place in Manhattan will prosper with such terrible service. I would hate to see Anyway Cafe lose buisness because of one rogue employee.

Pros: Ambiance, Live Music

Cons: Worst bartender in the city

This place seems to be better known for its vodka infusions and dinners, but I went here for a weekday lunch. My friend and I were the only people in the place until some Russian construction workers showed up as we were finishing.

It's a nice-looking spot, with interesting decor and some mirrors to make the space feel open. Service was prompt (as we were the only customers). The Russian beer comes in pint bottles, which is great. No complaints about the food, though it didn't jump out at me (I had the salmon-and-salmon roe pellini, she had a chicken and mushroom crepe). I'd go again to see if other dishes are more exciting.

We've been there a couple different nights. The Russian Peasant Beef is great comfort food on a cold night. We tried their blackberry vodka infusion. Yuck. I would only recommend the Lychee one. My wife and I got a small carafe after our wine which is a lot for two people (8-9 shots) so we were pretty much wasted when we left. The service was ok at best. Our waitress was an expressionless zombie. Overall, it's small, cozy, and has great live music on Friday and Sat. nights.

Stumbled across Anyway Cafe one Sunday evening whilst walking in the lower east side....decided to go in for a drink. Not particularly busy but I liked it, live music, nice ambience, cosy place and pleasant staff. A mellow place for a quiet Sunday evening.

My friends and I came there one Friday night, the place was EMPTY! There were about 10 of us and they didn't have enough plates for everyone. Then, after spending 3 hours there and ordering more than $400 of food and drinks we were KICKED OUT! They took away our food and drinks before we were done. The hostess, Josie, informed us that the cafe is a business and we should make room for other customers. If you want to spoil someone's night, take them to Anyway.

Pros: Always Empty, Decent Vodka

Went this Saturday for lunch, b/c it looked cute from outside and the crepe-laden menu sounded promising, if pricey. For the lunch prix-fixe menu, we were treated to a mesculin salad with balsamic vinegar dumped all over it, followed by the absolute worst and unseasoned borscht in the east village. The kicker was the chicken crepe, which is $14 on the dinner menu. It consisted of boiled, flavorless, dark meat chicken -- with bones -- and canned mushrooms, wrapped up inside a pre-made rubbery crepe that I could see our waitress reheating in the microwave. Do they even have a stove? Never, never ever again.

Great Place to go for food in drinks with a friend of a large group. This is one of the few places in Manhattan where you can get full menu of vodka infusions. This is not a place to go if you plan on ordering a bottle of wine, but the sanghria is ok. Atmosphere is great and food is pretty good. The food is not supposed to be russian. It's a blend of russian french. Be sure to order an appatizer to go with the vodka. While service may be a bit slow, that's fine as long a the vodka is on the table. Coffee/deserts are good. Also great place for late at night or on hollidays when everything is closed.

The menu for this place seems inviting but the food is not quite up to par and the wine is truly awful. The ambience is good and actually we had a very pleasant time there but couldnt help noticing that our platters had a rather thrown together appearance. Not great, not bad, service was amiable and moderately efficient. The jazz singer who showed up at 9:30pm was much too loud for the space and we were effectively driven out by her melodious yells. Definitely worth a visit but not on the AAA list.

I have been coming to Anyway cafe. This place has great ambiance and always just the right number of people. There is always somebody there, but u never have to wait too long for a table. Food is great and service has its upsides and downsides, but it definitely adds to the flavor of the place.

lived in the east village for two years, and had one of my best dining experiences here last night. the cranberry vodka infusion was great, the music was perfect, and my potato pancakes with wild mushroom caviar was pretty amazing. i recommend this to anyone sick of the annoying, new york pretentious restaurant scene.

oy! we thought we'd found a cool russian cafe. frigid might be a better word as to how we were treated by the waitress/manager after she realized we were not "untrained" in russian cuisine. the cold borscht was water-based, there was no kefir or buttermilk base to it... the gravlax was served in raggedy chunks... the russian black bread was brown... the chicken crepe took more than a half-hour to make and tasted as though someone had dumped a bottle of wine on it!

I have been at the place about five times. Wow for the food and drinks. Service sucked. Last time we went there, we might've overdone it by bringing 12 people. Yet with the table reserved they had one person in the kitchen cooking for two parties of about 10 people, besides regular clients. We spent between 1,5 and 2 hours just waiting for our food. And at the end waitress' comment to a was: "THE SERVICE WAS OKEY". That is with 5 steps to the bar which had 3-5 people at the most it took her at least 5 minutes for each drink to bring to our table.
