Great shirts - exactly to my specifications, fit perfectly, great material. Friendly customer service, unpretentious space. Only issue is that my shirts took 6 weeks to come - I was told that this was a rare occurrence, but to be kept in

I had a positive experience and the products I received from LS carry a higher dollar value than I paid - which ultimately is the goal for me.

I explained my situation to Izzy - which is that I have a large chest & small back, such that a 40? chest fits the chest but is huge on the back, etc. So he evaluates me and tells me something I didn??t know - which is that my back curves in such a way that measurements don??t tell the full story. He gave me three options: a $370 rack suit that most people wouldn??t notice didn??t fit me quite well, a made to measure suit that would fit almost perfectly, and a bespoke suit that would achieve perfection.

At 25, i went with the middle option - which is NOT cheap at $700 for someone with the privilege to graduate college in 2008. But that suit is now my magic interview suit.

I??m happy with my product given that the material is not significantly different than something you??d see at Brooks Brothers and fits me beautifully.

It??s an interesting shop with some quirky guests and employees - not your big box experience. Like Izzy knows his stuff, isn??t shy about his opinion, but also says that the customer??s the boss since he??s buying.

I have to disagree with Matt222. I have always been notoriously difficult to fit (short, thick neck, broad chest, narrow waist, uneven sloped shoulders and short t-rex arms) and I can't even attempt to get anything off the rack and tailored, even at the high end retailers. I have tried various custom tailors around the city to mixed results at best, but then some friends recommended Izzy and LS and I am completely sold. My suit looks amazing and fits perfectly after only the second fitting and the shirts are tremendous. And unlike some of the other shops I have tried, the turnaround time is remarkably fast.\r\n\r\nI fully expect Izzy to fill the rest of my wardrobe this year.

I wondered how these guys could make ""made-to-measure"" suits so cheaply, and I soon found out.\r\n\r\nThe suits are not made-to-measure. They have you try on pre-fabricated, standard-sized jackets and pants to figure out your size, then they sort of pretend to do some measuring, briefly. The suit is made in the pre-fab size with the fabric you chose. I'm certain that the only number that goes to the actual suitmaker is a one number size. Since the suit is made for you, technically, they somehow rationalize calling them ""custom made."" They are not custom made in the sense that designation is usually used in suitmaking.\r\n\r\nThe product, predictably, fits poorly and looks worse. Alterations after one more fitting didn't much help. \r\n\r\nThis place is a pain to get to and positively not worth it. Do not go.

I have gone to a few places for a made to measure suit. Ls mens was by far the best. Quick (only went twice had my suit in less than 3 weeks), Helpful (Had a young women sit with me and help me choose the best material for my needs), fit was perfect (I have sloped shoulders and a bit of a hunched back so I am not the easiest fit and it looks great couldnt ask for a better fit). Once I saw how well the suits came out I ordered about 10 new shirts. What impressed me was that Izzy recommended I order one shirt first, see how I like it and then he would place the rest of my order, this way I was able to make sure it was perfect. The price of the shirts were cheaper than me going to a regular store and buying them off the rack and believe me they looked much nicer.

Been looking for a custom clothing store in the NY city area for 3 years. Tried a slew of places and always had complaints on the fit, or fabrics. A friend of mine recommended I go to LS so I figured may as well give it a try. to begin with, picking materials were fairly simple. I had someone help me through all the different fabrics so I didnt need to sift through the ones that werent an option. Next, Izzy measured me told me the latest "looks" helped me go through all the different options that I would have, down to the inside pocket buttons. 2 weeks later I was back for another fitting and 4 days after that I picked up my new suit. I have dry cleaned the suit a few times since then and have seen no puckering (something I saw in all the other companies). Of all my suits this is the one I get the most comments on. I have sent many of my friends to the store and will be back there the next time I need a new suit.

About 7 months ago I got married and needed a tuxedo. A friend of mine who I was discussing the matter with suggested I go to Izzy for a custom tux. I was skeptical because Ive never bought anything custom and figured it was too expensive. When I got there Izzy was helpful and patient with me as he explained which material and style works for me. A few weeks later I picked up the tux and it was truly a thing of beauty!

The best part was that it was less than $800. My experience was great and I even went back to buy a suit recently. I spent 2 hours in the store picking fabric and styles (now that I know a little more). Izzy was nothing but patient and professional. i don't know what happened to the previous customer, but based on my experience and the other reviews I have to imagine it didn't happen exactly as she said. Izzy is a good, honest and patient man. That is hard to find! Don't think anymore about getting a custom suit or shirt, just do it - you will be very happy you did!

Having been an LS customer for a few years now, any issues that I've historically had with custom clothing have been corrected by Izzy even if he disagreed with my personal preferences. \r\n\r\nI also recently tore one pair of pants that I purchased from LS a few years back and instead of just suggesting that I buy a new pair (which I was willing to do) he used the excess material to fix it at no charge.\r\n\r\nIn my opinion, the allure of the store is not the aesthetics of the shop, it is the quality of the product which is something I have never had a problem with. The only issue I have ever had were the 20-25 minutes wait to get Izzy's opinion based on his increased clientele and based on the fact that he treats the customers who spend $100 with the same dilligence as the ones who spend thousands.\r\n\r\nAlthough I can't speak for everyone's experience I can attest to the fact that I'm not on Izzy's payroll. I'm just a loyal patron.\r\n

Pros: Service and Value

.

I have been an LS Men's Clothing customer for years, so I speak from experience. That experience has been overwhelmingly positive! I have bought several suits and sport jackets, and they all turned out great. I could not be more pleased with the service and final (made-to-measure) product. \r\n\r\nI mentioned the suits and sport jackets. Well, I've also purchased made-to-measure shirts and custom-made trousers. Fantastic. \r\n\r\nTo the amazement of some, there are (still, after all these years) men who prefer the classic American (""Ivy League"") style--natural shoulder, no darts, center (hooked) vent, lapped seams, etc. I can say without hesitation that LS Men's Clothing is the place to go if you continue to prefer this style. From the fabric selection to the tailors, the finished product is spot on.\r\n\r\nIzzy pays close attention to requests, and has an eye for detail. It is no wonder that so many men remain devoted customers of LS Men's Clothing. \r\n\r\nA five star rating from me because it is deserved. \r\n\r\n-TweedGuy\r\n\r\n

I have been an LS customer for more than 30 years, and for the last 25 years, a completely satisfied customer of their bespoke suits, blazers, overcoats, trousers, and shirts.\n\nMy sons are now customers for their ""more pedestrian"" off-the-rack choices (if you can call Hickey Freeman, H. Freeman, & Burberry pedestrian) and look forward to graduating to bespoke (in time).\n\nIzzy Zuber continues to bend over backwards to satisfy my needs, which include an erratic travel schedule, and personal tastes which don't always conform to current fashion trends.\n\nFor those who take no pleasure from the shopping experience, LS is the antidote.\n\nA typical phone call from me to Izzy goes something like this:\n\n""I need a few pair of chinos, light weight gray slacks, a dark gay suit and a new tuxedo."" (this was a most recent call a few weeks ago).\nIzzy will then ask, ""Have you had any recent weight changes?""\nThe answer this time was no, so we were able to proceed.\nWe then discuss colours (What shade of grey scale from 5-10) and how light (150s, 180s, ...)\nFinally he'll ask by when I need it, or when am I planning to be in New York next.\n\nThat's it, and shirts are just as easy (which reminds me that I need to call him for some).\n\nIt doesn't get any better than this, except if he could clone himself and set up shop in LA as well.

Cons: I now live in LA so I must fly to NY for final measurements

I've been to a ton of tailors in Manhattan over the years. I didn't believe the hype at first (particularly based on the amount of overwhelming positive feedback he received on this site) and then I went to LS. This guy Izzy is excellent. I had sport coats, suits and shirts made there in the last few months. You will not get better pricing on any of the aforementioned products particularly for the quality of materials this guy has in house...Here is why he stands out...he spotted a smudge on one of my sport coats and wouldn't let me leave without getting it out. He talked me out of buying a more expensive suit because he was relucant about the quality of the material. He made alterations more than 4 times to get the fit that I was in search of. He was willing to talk to his vendors to drive down the cost if I liked a certain material that was outside of my price range. He is patient, knowledgeable, and opinionated (which is an attribute for a tailor). Trust me...Try this guy out...you will not be disappointed.

I've lived in Manhattan for quite a few years and only wish I had found LS Men's Clothing earlier. They recently made a Hickey Freeman suit for me and I love it. LS is a quality place, with great prices and service. I know of no other place in NYC that equals it.\r\n \r\nI went there because of the positive reviews I read and am happy now to add my own.

My internet luck still holds: I found the VERY BEST (I?m convinced) place in New York City to buy my son a great suit for my upcoming wedding at a reasonable price. \n\nLS Mens Clothing is on the 3rd floor of a nondescript office building on 45th St. Big open room with a concrete floor and racks and racks of suits, jackets and pants. It?s been there for many years, run by a funny, hugely knowledgeable guy named Izzy. \n\nThey carry both very nice hand-tailored off-the-rack suits, and custom-made suits and shirts. I had budgeted $700, and was doubtful I could get something good ? even on sale ? at Saks or Bloomie?s for that. \n\nI got him two (count ?em, TWO) suits at LS for $700, both just beautiful! One for the wedding, and one for him to have another nice suit to wear. My son was in heaven ? he loved the place, the guy, the suits. \n\nI plan on encouraging my fiance to go and get a wonderful custom-made suit for the wedding - their custom-tailored suits start at around $650, I'm told, which is just astonishing to me, given the quality.\n\nAll in all, an amazing find.

Ordered a made-to-measure Southwick blazer from L.S. Men's Clothing and had a great experience for two reasons. \r\n1. Cost--They got me this jacket for SIGNIFICANTLY less than what other shops quoted me for Southwick made-to-measure. They even added working buttonholes on the sleeves for a fraction of what I have seen other places ask for.\r\n2. Customer Service/Experience--Izzy has apparently been in this business a LONG time. Was a little unsure on a couple details/aspects of fit. Took Izzy's advice and the blazer came out perfect--couldn't be happier.

I recently got hired for a new job after having lost mine about a year ago. I decided to upgrade my look and after hearing about LS Mens Clothing from many of my old co-workers I figured why not give it a shot. I must say I was pleased with the service and promptness of delivery. Not only was I able to get measured and fit from the owner of the store, someone who has many years experience in the industry, he sat with me and helped me decide which patterns best fit my build. I was impressed that Izzy reccomended I start with 1 suit a few shirt and 1 sport jacket, to see how I liked the fit before ordering more (most owners would be pushy and just want to sell the most they can).\r\nWhen the suits came in I was very pleased and to say the least order a whole bunch more. I will definitely be going back and will be recommending it to my friends and family.

LS Mens Clothes has the best clothing values in New York City. Its humble premises, on the third floor of a nondescript office building, belie the clothing riches inside. \r\n\r\nI have been a customer for about 20 years. I have bought both ready to wear and custom. Its made to measure offerings are strong in that four manufacturers are offered: H. Freeman of Philadelphia, Southwick, Coppley, and a local workshop.\r\n\r\nH. Freeman and the local workshop make a suit which is superior to Hickey Freeman. I have received more compliments on my LS suits than some of my other suits (including those made on the fabled Savile Row) which have cost two to four times as much. \r\n\r\nLS is a a significant customer of H. Freeman. It has been able to get H. Freeman to offer a new model based on LS's suggestions.\r\n\r\nYou can personalize the styling and detailing of your suit, such as working sleeve buttonholes, linings, ticket pockets, and pick stitching. \r\n\r\nOn the made to measure side the cloth selection is huge. You can order from the manufacturers' swatch collections or from the sample books of Holland & Sherry, Loro Piana, Barberis, and Gladson.\r\n\r\nLS also has a wonderful pantsmaker who can copy your favorite pants. He makes a handmade trouser with handsewing and pick stitching. In fact, he makes my suit trousers. I have also had LS's in-house tailor make the vest, and he has done an excellent job.\r\n\r\nIt also has good things in ready to wear. You have to do a little searching among the overstocks from H. Freeman, Hickey Freeman, and Burberry. I started as a ready to wear customer. I still buy an occasional raincoat and overcoat.\r\n\r\nLS has the lowest prices in town on made to measure shirts from Individualized Shirts which makes both a standard shirt and more handmade shirt under the y'Pres label. \r\n\r\nFinally, Izzy is a lovely, honest, and reputable person. It is a family business which his mother-in-law started. She is the LS in the name.

I recently bought a suit from LS. Great experience that I will seek to repeat. If you need a certain fit they will make it look great. I'll be back...

I was introduced to LS in 1994 when I was a second-year law student at NYU. Having been lured in the past by ""discount designer"" clothing sales and ""designer warehouses"" only to discover poor quality garments priced as they should have been, I was skeptical when I made my first trip to LS. LS, however, is the real deal. The same Hickey Freeman suits one finds at Nordstrom and other retailers are offered here for half the price and, sometimes, less. Hickey Freeman only makes two or three suit models, year in, year out. There is really no such thing as last year's leftovers in this upscale brand. And as if the selection of Hickey Freeman weren't enough, LS also accumulates thousands of yards of the finest suit fabrics and makes them available for the most reasonably priced custom suits in the country. The outside tailors who make the custom suits are the very same ones used by some of the most expensive men's shops in the City. What this means is that one can buy the exact same 100% custom suit from LS for around $1,000 that can be found elsewhere for $3,000-$4,500....same fabric, same tailor shop...exactly the same suit. So, whether you want an off-the-rack Hickey Freeman suit for half price or a custom suit for an even smaller fraction of its ususal price, LS is a must visit. The number of high powered executives and profesionals who know the LS secret is staggering. I visit LS a couple of times a year and almost never fail to see at least one senior partner from a top five Am Law 100 law firm being fitted for a suit. The smartest New York money shops at LS -- shouldn't you? The selection is terrific, the service is second to none and the prices can't be beaten. If LS were a public company, I'd be a stockholder.

Pros: First quality upscale name brand merchandise at fire sale prices.

Cons: No Saturday hours because the owners are Saturday sabbath observers.

I'm not one to write reviews, but where ever I go I get complimented on my suits and people ask where I get my suits, so I figured I'll just let everyone know. \r\nMy father in law recommended that I go to LS Mens once for a custom made suit, and I was a bit sceptical of going up to get suits the 3rd floor of some building when I have always gone to Saks and Bergdorf for Zegna, Brioni, etc... However, all my doubts were quickly put to rest. I was greeted by Izzy who gave me all the time in the world to look through his fabrics. (There was such a fantastic selection, it took a while.) There was a wide selection of Loro Piana, Zegna, Hicky Freeman, and more. He helped me choose one that would fit its purpose and after I was measured I told him the specification (double vent, functional buttons, etc..) and I even got to pick out my own lining - which is always a conversation starter. I actually wanted to get 2 suits but he told me first see how I like this one and then come back - the exact opposit from having a commisioned sales person shove everything on you! I was also shocked to see that the prices were much better than any place else I've been to.\r\nI came back to pick up the suit and wore the suit the next day to work, and then it started. The questions kept on coming. Where did you get your suit? What, you got that Zegna Super 150 for how much? You look great! I now sit before you and tell you that you also can look as good as I do.

Cons: People will make you nuts telling you how good you look and asking you where you got the suit from

A few years back I had lost weight. My suits which had fit me till then were all to big. Being that I had to wear a suit to work every day, I was quite desperate. A friend suggested that I go to Izzy at LS, saying that he had a positive experience. I pushed him off by saying that I would instead go try to get something at saks, neiman, bergdoff, rothmans, and brooks brothers. I did just that, and what occured was very dissapointing. Every place the salespeople were obnoxious and ""up your back"". At the department stores after I had said that i only planned to spend a little bit over 1000, i was ignored. the prices and quality were terrible. you were paying for the name of the designer and for nothing else. Their custom departement didn't really have anything under 1600. At rothmans and brooks brothers the service was okay, but I felt that I was being pushed by the salespeople and that it was a overpriced for such quality. Finally I went to Izzy at Ls. Right away I felt the family feel of the place. There wasn't the marble... everywhere like they had in the department stores. But it was better like that. Izzy gave me personal attention and helped me get a ready made Hickey which was priced at 500+ cheaper than it wold have been at any of the departement store. He was not pushy at all but actually very pleasant. His in house tailors also did an amazing job to alter the suit to my needs. I have contined going to Izzy but now I have gone to his custom lines. Again amazing prices on that too. He also has a large amount of Loro Piana,Zegna, and Holland and Sherry fabrics to choose from. \r\nAll in all highly highly recomended. You'll seee you'll become part of the LS FAMILY.

This is the first review I have written for CitySearch, but I really wanted to make sure that LS gets the proper recognition it deserves. I went there on the recommendation of a friend and I think it might be my best find thus far in New York. I have been living in the city for about two years now and I haven't really found a decent place to get a suit. In my line of business, I have to wear a suit every day and it has been frustrating going to so many of the so-called fancy New York department stores that purport to offer excellent service and tailoring but ultimitely produce a shoddy product. I keep wanting to tell them -- I don't care about how nice your store looks, just give me a nice suit at a decent price...\r\nI was reluctant at first to visit LS because it was on the third floor in some midtown building and I figured that at the prices my friend told me they charged there was no way they weren't cutting corners on the suit, but after seeing my suit and spending time talking to Izzy (the owner) I was convinced -- this place is gold! Izzy has been in the business for probably more than 20 years, and he personally walks you through every aspect of buying a custom made suit. He made sure I came back to try the suit on a number of times to make sure that everything I wanted was there and that I was happy with the suit. The fabrics he uses are really great (he must have a really great deal on the fabrics because he was selling the entire suit for the same price that it would cost me to order the fabrics on their own). \r\nIn sum, great place, I really recommend it highly. One thing though, if you are looking for a department style store, where you end up spending half your money to help pay for the overhead and for the people to greet you at the door, this is not the place for you... Izzy is great, and his tailors are amazing, but he cuts costs on the lower floot rent to help you save money on the suit.

I hate shopping, and I hate the chaos in department stores, as well as salespeople who either ignore, pressure or harass you. I have therefore put off shopping for new clothing for a long time. I recently admired a collegue's suit, and he mentioned he had purchased it at L.S. Mens Clothing. I stopped by the store on my way home from work (its midtown location was so condusive) and left an hour later having ordered a custom suit. Izzy was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was honest about what would look good, was knowledgable about what was stylish and what was faddish, and never tried to ""sell me"". So much so that I had wanted to place an order for 4 suits, but Izzy convinced me not to, suggesting that I wait until the first suit came in to make appropriate modifications before we ordered any additional items. The same was said about the custom shirt I ordered. I have never experienced such a postive shopping trip. Between the quality fabrics, discount prices, and Izzy's honesty and integrity, I look forward to shopping at LS Mens Clothing again.

My experience with Izzy and the crew at LS was born out of need and has now turned into a virtual obsession Nine years ago I wore a 56 Long suit. As someone who appreciates the finer things in life, buying off-the-rack (when I found one that fit) was consistently disappointing and overpriced. \r\nA colleague and friend of equal girth recommended that I take walk with him to his tailor. Off we went to LS. Dozens of suits later, and 100 pounds lighter I am officially a raving fan.\r\nFrom ready made traditionally tailored suits to made- to-measure & bespoke European design LS is truly the most affordable and service oriented shop in New York. \r\nI?ve tried Saks, Bergdorf and Neiman. For a quarter of the price, and four times the service, LS provides a better fit and a wider selection of fabrics (Holland & Sherry, Lora Piana and Zegna to name a few). Check out a huge selection of made to measure shirtings too. \r\n\r\nLS may be the last best kept secret in New York! (shhhhhhhh!)\r\n\r\nPS: LS?s Master tailor Edward, somehow managed to re-cut the majority of my 56 long suits into beautifully fitting 44 longs.

I have one of the hardest shape bodies to fit for suits. After trying many custom tailors I was recommended by a friend to try LS Mens and ask for Izzy. Not only was I happy with the price of the suits and custom shirts I had bought but the service and atmosphere was so friendly. Izzy took out time to go through what exactly I wanted and spent time explaining in detail to the tailors exactly what would be best for me. The custom shirts i had gotten are really a great fit, now it is so easy for me to order shirts being that Izzy has my measurements and I just need to pick out the fabric. All in all I was amazed at everything there from the personal service, great buys, great tailoring, wonderful suits, and shirts. I have gone back many times since the first time I had been there and have never had a complaint. Highly recommend.
