Great facials

by Hakuisuke

I've been going to Oasis for a few years and have seen a couple different aestheticians for facials. I must say that Evelyn is by far the best. Not only does my skin look absolutely amazing after I see her, but she always has honest and helpful advice about how to improve the condition of my skin at home. Not to mention, her facial is more relaxing and therapeutic than any massage I've ever had at Oasis or elsewhere. I wish I could go once a month!

Pros: atmosphere and facials

Just wonderful!

by chrislund

My sister and I took advantage of every Spa Week special we could manage, and went to 7 spa's in the span of a week and half. Oasis was one of the 2 spa's that actually felt like a REAL spa experience (the other one was Clay Spa on 14th). Even tho the place was completely packed, we didn't feel rushed, the facilities were pristine, and the staff was professional and courteous. We wanted to take advantage of every offer, so I had a massage and a body wrap, and my sister had a facial and a massage. We were there for literally half a day and nobody rushed us out. Our treatments were done in full without a minute less. Hala is THE BEST, you have to get your body treatments at Oasis with HALA! I've never had a body wrap before and she just made it sooooooo relaxing and I was just in heaven. I talked to another customer in the relaxation lounge in between treatments and they said I should come during the week when the place isn't so crowded and I will definitely do that especially when they have weekly specials. Good job Oasis!

Pros: Clean, professional in every circumstance

Don't listen to what the review says

by msnyc52

I totally disagree with "micma's" review. I venture to Oasis Day Spa at least twice a month, and the staff there is nothing but FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS, and KIND. I think that "micma" has serious issues that only a trained professional can handle. Do you even know how it is to work in retail in NYC? Our motto is "If you see something, say something" and if you were acting suspicious, then Oasis has the right to confront you. If it wasn't for the great relaxing experience at Oasis Day Spa, I probably would have turned into you- a babbling nut job!!!! I love getting facials by Mimi, she is the absolute best. Hala does the best body scrubs and wraps- she will wash away your worries!! When i am stressed out, I turn to Chad, Kevin A or Nancy. I think "micma" should go back into Oasis and apologize for all the non sense and slander. The owner is right, you ARE and ugly person.

Pros: best staff, best specials

Massage was not bad but I don't think I got the full time

by Alycia284

I got a massage a little while back but never got a chance to comment. The lady that took care of me was very friendly, but I don't think I got the full time. I came 15min. early to change and everything, waited till the called me, got my massage, but then when I came back to the locker room to change, I noticed my on my watch that the hour just finished. How could have the hour just finish and I'm already in the locker room changing, shouldn't I still be in the room finishing the massage?

Pros: Friendly Massage Therapist

Cons: In the basement

accusation of stealing

by kjglas

I had a 60 min lava stone massage on 1 Park Ave. I arrived, checked in and waited 2mins to go to the back to change. As I was locking my things into the locker a receptionist came to me and stated she needed to speak to me. I was taken to out into a hallway where she proceed to accuse me of taking a soap from the front. I was shocked and dunbfounded!? I told her I did not take anything and insisted she look through my things. She looked and found nothing. She told me she was sorry(which did not come across as sorry) and to go to the relaxation room and enjoy the massage. I went to the room but became increasing angry. I went to find the manager because she had not come to me. I waited a few minutes for her. The manager informed me she just found out what happened. I proceeded to tell her I would not steal and insisted she look through my purse and bag, where I took everything out. She stated she was sorry and she would take care of it. I was very upset because I have never been accused of stealing and have no criminal record even a speeding ticket. The manager was condescending, unapologetic and arrogant. She told me to stop freaking out and to enjoy my massage. I was so angry, I wanted to leave but I was afraid my friends credit card would be charged and I did not want him to pay for it. I now wish I had just walked out. I went for the massage which I did not enjoy because I could not relax and could not believe how I was just treated. Once I got out and back into the reception area. I saw the manager, once she saw me, she ran out of the recepion area into the back out of sight. The receptionist checked me out charging me full price. I told her she needed to speak to the manager. The receptionist left and came back stating I was to get 10% off. I was slapped in the face again to pay for an experience that was surreal and horrible at the same time. I have send an email to the owner of oasis and conde nast traveler because they said this was the best spa in nyc. I believe the spa was great at one time but because they have been no. 1 for so long the have reached thier peak and now on the down slope. To accuse a client of stealing and then to be unapoligetic once they realize they were wrong is completely unacceptiable. I would not want this experience to happen to anyone else. I was on holiday when I had this experience and live in chicago where I get spa treatments atleast every other month. I have NEVER been treated so RUDELY. I was in NY for a 911 fundraiser for Scott Schieling 5k. TUNNEL to TOWERS Run. I have read some of the comments from the owner of this spa (on city search) prior to this posting and he really needs to employ better people with Great customer service . This is a nice spa but I have been to better and only better because they appreciate my money.

Pros: Would have been a nice spa if they have new staff

Cons: condescending arrogant staff

Lifted me right out of my slump

by mariadeltoro

2009 has been unkind to me. I know that most people are hurting now, but this year so far I feel like I was being punished for something bad from a past life. My sisters said I just need to relax, and I will feel better. I did not believe that it would help me when they gave me a Gift Certificate for Oasis Day Spa, but I am a believer now. From the moment I stepped into the spa this weekend, I was treated like a queen. My massage erased the tension this year has brought upon me, last night I slept well for the first night in months. My facial gave me a beautiful glow. The Salt Scrub was relaxing as well, I wish I could have that shower at my house! The only "problem" was, when I checked out, the lovely receptionist gave me a postcard of Oasis' new spa in Westchester - it has an outside garden!! But alas it was too far from me. Perhaps for my birthday in a few months, I will ask for a day trip to Westchester, just to experience their Rooftop Massage. I wonder if they can serve margaritas LOL. Thank you my sisters, and thank you Oasis for reminding me that this is just a bad year, there are still lovely things in this world.

Pros: everything.

Cons: I wish to visit the Westchester spa, but it is too far!

Awesome Party at Oasis Day Spa's Rooftop Garden

by tbls

We just hosted a party at the Oasis Day Spa's Rooftop Garden in Dobbs Ferry, NY. What a fantastic party. The atmosphere was spectacular and the chair massages were a great add on....our guests loved it! We used the spa recommended caterer who was very professional and helped us customize a menu for our party. Our guests raved about the food. We brought in a DJ and danced the night away under the stars! This rooftop is a must see. The staff was attentive, polite and accommodating. I would highly recommend considering this space for a party or to chill out after a treatment. We had about 40 guests but the space can comfortably hold a lot more. We were thrilled with our experience there!

Pros: Beautiful Setting, Attentive Staff, Great Food & Massages

Terrible service from people who answer the phone

by NYCdweller

I called several times to get some idea of the packages they offer for parties of 10 or more because I was trying to book a day for a party for my colleagues. No one called me back. The guy who took my call a second time kept saying he doesn't have control over when anyone might call me back. Then he went on to say he doesn't have control over my decision! This was when I explained I needed the information soon or I'd just have to go with a different spa for my party.

They used to be pretty decent until a couple of years ago - the last time I went there. Not sure what happened since then. But if this is their service over the phone, I'm doubtful that I'm going to find any experience at the spa itself relaxing or stress-free!

Pros: Not sure what they are!

Cons: Terrible service over the phone

Questionable Customer Service

by NativeNYer

If you are like me and seek first-class customer service from business your patronize, Oasis on Park may not be for your. Unlike other establishments in the same industry, Oasis' only concern is making a profit and places no value on building and cherishing relations with former customers. In all my years of living in NYC, I have never been treated in such a disrespectful manner and would not wish such treatment on my worse enemy.

Pros: Nice location

Cons: Total disregard for customer service

Not keeping pace

by CSMobileUser

Years ago, I found a lovely spa on irving--oasis. Since then the place expanded and with that has lost its charm and cleanliness! The service is good, but you pay for an experience. Now you feel like a number in a factory. Most disappointing is the lack of cleanliness in the showers and locker room. Equally annoying is the fact that it is hard to find a locker because of the crowd and the fact that housekeeping uses them for storage. Given the choices in nyc, it would take a lot to get me back.

Such a lovely place with such crappy service

by Algilman

The spa is truly lovely - my facial ended 10 minutes earlier then it was supposed to and at least 15 minutes of my facial I was left in the room with a treatment on my face. Huge pet peeve during a facial. When I told their staff about my shortened facial they did not care at all. I reluctantly have been there since, each time their front desk service was delivered the same level of service to me as if I were calling to get an appointment to service my car. For such a lovely place, their service staff really needs to check themselves and understand that a spa is where people go and pay money to be pampered from the strees of everyday life.
The objective here is to service the customer and make them feel wonderful, especially so they'll want to come back. Whoever manages that spa needs to attend leadership in customer service 101 again. In this economy when people really don't have the money to spend on a spa, service really costs nothing. Today after yet another frustrating conversation with one of their "appointment reps" I'm done with Oasis. I've spent enough money there and time writing this review. What a shame.

Pros: Spa is beautiful

Cons: Service staff is consistantly unappealing

A great deal!!! A lot for your money!!!

by Dm42A

This was my first visit to oasis and I was so pleasantly surprised!!! I had a salt scrub with Hala and a facial with Mickey, both were amazing. I usually get my scrubs at Bliss and they're ok but compared to Hala they are terrible. She is so attentive. She helped me relax after a rough day, massaged me and rubbed my head. It felt so good!!! Mickey was great too!! She was very sweet and informative. The most relaxing facial I have ever had. Super gentle extractions and great massage. When I left there my face and body were glowing!!! And still are!!! I can't wait to go back!!!

Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, warm staff

Bad Facial Experience

by mnprs

In mid Febuary I decided to do a facial just before a trip, for give my face a much needed treat. Reading reasonably good reviews on Citysearch, I decided to try Oasis Spa. Scheduling it last minute, I was told it'd be done by Dgamara (or some name like that). She was friendly and explained the procedure. But when she started, she would message around my eye area with very high speed a couple of times her fingers poked my eyeballs. I was so nervous that I had to keep my eyes tightly shut all the time, nothing to say about relaxation! After some time I decided to speak out, so she would stay away from my eye area. Nonetheless, she just has very heavy hands. Even when she put shields on my eyes I would feel the significant pressure. Finally when she messaged around my jaw area, she scratched it with her fingernails with such speed I felt terrible pain. A coulple of days later I would still feel the swell and see the scratches on my face!

And that was not all. Throughout the process, the hot steam from a blower was either so burningly hot, or when it was moved a bit away it became very weak. Besides, there was a fan in the room which ran all the time to provide ventialtion (?), so instead of the music I heard from the waiting area, the noise accompanied the entire procedure.

Overall it was a bad experience, especially compared to the facial experience I had with other spas, where it was not only very relaxing, but my face would glow for the next days. Not here! So I will not do facials with Oasis, certainly not with this lady who was kind but only suits those with elephant skin!!

I do not mean to embarass the spa and the lady, nor am I a diligent writer - that is why it took so long for me to post it. But this is the only venue I could let the spa know about my bad experience, and to share it with other customers.

Pros: location, price, waiting area

Cons: service, equipment

Best massages in New York and affordable, too.

by strawberry1019

My husband and I have been Oasis customers for the past 2 years. We normally go to the Affinia Dumont location because we like the steam room, but we have been to the Park Avenue location several times and not once have we had a bad experience. Everyone at the front desk is friendly and helpful and the massages are fantastic - worth every penny! I especially recommend Gina and Kevin A. They both give strong, effective massages. We are their loyal clients because they always give us their best. Linda and Carrie are also excellent, especially in prenatal massages. It's not very fancy but the price is very fair. It's not overpriced like other spas in NYC and we always get a full hour of massage. You can't go wrong.

Pros: Excellent massages

Cons: none

Terrible facial

by KrisRogan

I had the worst facial I have ever had at the Oasis Day Spa. After my facial, my face broke out into a terrible rash. I had the facial on a Saturday and meetings with clients the following Monday and Tuesday. I could barely wear make-up even two days later because my skin was still burning. Later that week, my skin peeled from the rash and dehydration. When I left my facial, the technician informed me that my skin would be red for twenty minutes- it took over a week for my face to recover. My skin has never peeled on my face and facials are supposed to hydrate skin, not dry it out. Over the course of my life, I have had maybe 15-20 facials and never a reaction. What is worse is that when I contacted the spa to find out exactly what product they used on my skin, I never received a call back. I would think twice before booking a facial at this spa.

Oasis Day Spa Experience in Dobbs Ferry---Westchester---very relaxing

by chuckers1

My husband took me to the new Oasis Day Spa in Dobbs Ferry for a massage and facial as a birthday treat. I have been to Oasis in the city at Park Avenue before and I wondered how the Westchester experience would be. As you might guess, they have loads more room there--the waiting area, dressing rooms are huge, and beautifully arranged. The manager was very welcoming and escorted me around the facilities...It's winter now but in the summer there will be a rooftop relaxation deck! Everything is clean and fresh. One of the aspects that I love about Oasis is the quality of their professional staff. The masseur was attentive, listened to my requests and gave a beautiful massage. The facialist was also attentive to my skin allergies and I had a facial that left my skin glowing and moist. They do not push you to buy anything. Yet, they do tell you everything they are using. A number of the products are available in the waitng area. They carry so many different brands. I am very keen on Dermalogica...the Multivitamin Mask and Moisture Barrier were introduced to me by Oasis staff and I get great results. They have many other services too...mani/pedi, couples massage. I went for a basic and they had a holiday sale going at the time. There is plenty of parking and it is easy to get to from the Saw Mill. Enjoy a treat in Westchester.

Pros: clean, new, modern, attentive professional staff, varied approaches, great products

Cons: the entrance to the spa is utilitarian...the building houses a gym...the spa experience starts inside.

Great massage - not so great facial

by imh

The total spa experience was great. The relaxation room was very relaxing and offered water, tea and healthful snacks for in between treatments. My massage by Carrie was wonderful. She applied just the right amount of pressure and almost put me to sleep. I then had the mini-facial which was not so great. The mini facial consisted of some exfoliation and a quick mask, all of which I could have done at home for myself, and not for $65!! I was very disappointed in my facial.
I would probably return to the spa because the overall atmosphere was nice, but I would just stick with a massage. The facial definitely wasn't worth it!

Pros: Relaxing atmosphere, good massage

Cons: Basic, overpriced facial

Great Spa with Great Specials

by huffy1823

I went to Oasis Day Spa on Park this past week and it was amazing. I had a great 90 minute massage by Kevin A. and a relaxing facial by Patricia. Oasis Day Spa is not only friendly, but a very nice and large spa for New York standards. Since I work at a company that is helping to pioneer the spa industry, SpaFinder, I know how hard spas, and the luxury industry in general, is struggling in this economy. Oasis Day Spa has counteracted this by offering great specials- I used their January Thursday Deal which was purchase any 90 minute service, and receive a free 30 minute service. Everyone that worked there was very nice and welcoming and it was an all-round relaxing experience. The only thing that concerned me was my credit card was charged for the wrong amount by accident but immediately was noted and the money was put back on the card. We'll see once I get my credit card statement- but a great experience and will def. be going back soon hopefully this time for a 90 minute facial!

Pros: Amazing Massages and Facial, relaxing atmosphere

Amazing Facials and Pedicure. DO NOT GO FOR MANICURE

by gxh188

It was my first time at the Oasis Day Spa on Park Ave, I booked a Multivitamin Facial, a hot stone pedicure, and a Signature manicure in order to pamper myself to get ready for New Year's Eve. Because of timing issues, I had to book the manicure separately the following day, which wasn't a problem at all for me. When I entered the spa the lady who greeted me was very nice which was great after a long day at work. My treatment started right on time. My pedicurist was friendly but not fake and did a wonderful job on my toes which a week later still look as fresh as the day I walked out of the spa. The only problem I have with the treatment is that she didn't realize it was a hot stone pedicure, so be sure to confirm your treatment with your specialist before you start it! She was very friendly about the confusion and accommodating. She gave me the hot stone massage with no sass! The hot stone treatment was amazing and the massage was just enough pressure! I then was ushered into the locker room and relaxation room. When I was in the relaxation room, there were only a few other people there, so it was very quiet and serene, perfect to relax in before a facial. My facialist, Jennifer, did a spectacular job. She explained everything before she did anything and was very gentle on my sensitive and dry skin. Her hands were VERY relaxing and I almost fell asleep multiple times! Even though she only gave me a quick massage on my shoulders/arms/hands it was so relaxing and melted away most of the stress. I was so relaxed after, it felt like I had just come out of a yoga session! My skin looked amazing, fresh and clean afterward for days. I went into the relaxation room after my treatment to find it filled which was a bit of a downer because people were talking rather loudly. The snacks and tea were a great way to polish off the treatment! I was highly disappointed with my manicure, polish wasn't done well, and chipped easily, and treatment was VERY rushed and only 30 minutes.

Pros: Ambience, relaxation room, facials, hot stone pedicure

Cons: Manicure w/Maria, communication issues

Best Spa in Westchester

by jeffreysinger

This is my first posting on Citysearch. I decided to take my entire family to Oasis as a holiday present. Seven of us went to Oasis Day Spa in Dobbs Ferry for massages. This resulted in a great family experience. The day was set up by their manager, Yvette. She was a total professional who took the time and energy to accomodate my request for seven massage therapists at the same time. She was able to do this for the day after Thanksgiving. I know that this was not easy to do. She expertly coordinated the desires of each of us with respect to the type of therapist that each of us wanted.

The spa is beautiful and has an air of relaxation. The massage therapists were warm and friendly, but did not interfere with the quiet of the massagest. They provided just the right amount of pressure that suited each of our desires. Some liked it gentle while some liked deep tissue.

While the spa recently opened, We didn't experience some of the growing pains usually associated with a new business. As the spa is located in the same building as a New York Sports Club gym, we were able to work out and then end the afternoon with a relaxing massage.

I strongly recommend this Spa to all of you. Westchester has been missing a great spa and now we have one.

Excellent Technician, Cold Receptionists

by anitabenez

I visited the Oasis Spa in Dobbs Ferry last Saturday afternoon and I truly enjoyed the facial I experienced. The environment was quite relaxing and beautiful. It was quite exciting to come to this brand new facility.

The only thing that bothered me was my treatment in the reception area. They came across as kind of cold and snobbish. I would have hoped to receive a warmer welcome at the front desk.

Pros: good technician

Cons: poor reception

Worst facial ever!!!!!

by Destiny25

I have been getting facials for many years. Recently, I went to Oasis to get a facial by Natie. It was the worst ever!! She talked to me for the whole hour. I just wanted to relax but she wouldn?t be quiet. Then when it was over she talked to me for another 5 minutes about supplements that she wanted me to buy at Whole Foods. I would definitely not recommend anyone going to her for a facial.

MICKEY IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Brazilians in NYC

by Clotheshorse128

Ever since Mickey left Oasis my "ladyparts" have not been the same!!! I tried other waxers at Oasis, I even ventured off to other spas: no one compares!!! They would never tell me where she went!!!! But lo and behold I stopped in at the spa one day by chance; and there she was!!!! I was so excited to see her I booked a brazilian with her right away!!! Now I have tried a ton of other waxers in my time and she is by far the best Brazilian waxer EVER!!! Super quick (usually under 12 minutes) and virtually painless!! She will make you feel so comfortable. Always has a funny story to tell you and before you know it it's DONE!!!

I highly reccommend her!!! Oh and I almost forgot!!! My eyebrows have never looked better either. She truly has a gift!!! You will love her!!!!!

less than impressed

by kpicinich

i went to oasis day spa when they were having their 10 year anniversary specials. maybe it's because their prices were knocked back to 1998 levels that the place was so busy, but first and foremost, the waiting room was so crowded and so noisy! it was definitely NOT a relaxing atmosphere, although i could see how it would be when it wasn't so busy. the ladies' changing area was lovely, very well stocked, even had yummy treats!
my facial was quite nice, and the woman who gave me my facial was lovely. she gave me some insight into my skin and so far her advice has been very helpful!
my massage was less exciting....he had very rough hands that seemed callused, which is one of the last thing a massage therapist's hands should be!! i specifically asked him to work on my neck and shoulders and he barely got into any knots. i also understand what another reviewer said about the shaky/squeaky tables sounding like they were going to break....the table was a little wobbly, but i was never concerned that i would go crashing to the ground.

all in all, i will not be going back to oasis, it doesn't seem worth the money to me for a massage....although i might consider it for a facial if they do another special (or perhaps spa week).

Pros: nice facilities if they weren't so noisy and crowded, good facial

Cons: bad massage, very noisy and crowded when i was there

Brazilian Wax - Best EVER!

by sexycat25

I have been going to Oasis for about 2 years now & LIZZY is the Best!! I've gone to J Sisters & many others and none of them compare. She uses a special wax that really minimizes the pain and she is a perfectionist! I also had a wax with Georgette one time because Lizzy was on vacation - and like the previous review, experienced one of the worst waxings ever.

Waxing

by doodles66

I have been going to the Oasis Day Spa for about 3 years now and today was the worst waxing I ever received. Georgette was a nice woman but it was the roughest wax I have ever had. I actually have a severe bruise at a very awkward spot and even when i said the wax was to hot she didnt seem to do anything. Also normally the waxer leaves the room and lets your get dressed in private but she stood there in the room cleaning it which made things very awkward.

Top Notch Spa

by amcgreency

This is the first time in 10 years of waxing in Miami, London and New York that I have actually looked forward to my appointments. The staff is super friendly with no pressure, the prices are the most reasonable I have found, and most importantly the waxing is perfect. Julie takes time to make sure it is all even leaves no strays( she is a perfectionist). I highly recommend this place because they are very patient with you and they know exactly what they are doing. I will be going there from now on to get my waxes done. Try it out, you will like this place too!!

Pros: The pure fact that they care about you and not just about your wallet.

Cons: Feel very, very sorry and sad that didn't find them before

Relaxation!

by Bobby393

My friend got me a massage package at Oasis which I used recently. She said I was too stressed lately and needed to relax. Not being a big spa goer, I wasn't really expecting much. I'm glad to report that my friend was right. Not only did I need a massage but I needed a massage at Oasis. The person who worked on me was fantastic and the massage made my troubles seem very far away during the session. Great advice from my friend and an even greater job by Oasis!

Oasis Day Spa!

by luvbbq

From the person who booked my appointment, to the receptionist when I walked in, to the person who gave my massage and to the cleanliness of the location, Oasis was a homerun all the way around. It was my first spa experience and I'd definitely go back to Oasis.

Pros: Service, Massage, Location

Worst massage ever

by rdf68

I had a miserable experience at Oasis Day Spa. I am a frequent client at spas throughout the city and this was categorically the worst massage I have ever had. My masseuse used far too much oil, had zero technique, and did not go the entire 60 minutes. I strongly question the qualifications of their so-called professional personnel.

Needless to say, there is a reason why you can get 3 people in for last minute massages....

Pros: none

Cons: poor quality service all around

Intimate and charming

by dinggay

From the moment I called to book the appointment to the moment I reluctantly walked back up the stairs to Park Avenue, I was well taken care of. I had received a gift certificate for a massage and because of a special running was able to take advantage of a massage and a manicure. The massage was really terrific and could be habit forming; Paul, the masseuse, was communicative, responsive and made the experience very relaxing and fun. Jennifer did my manicure and I have to say, I'm thinking of wearing gloves everywhere since she did such a nice job I'm paranoid about wrecking my nails. She too made the experience so enjoyable. Finally, Bruce, the owner, came by to ask me if my services had been to my satisfaction - and that really impressed me. It spoke to how much they do care about the customer at Oasis. I'm totally looking forward to my next visit!

Pros: intimate feel, very friendly and skilled staff

Cons: stairs are tricky for people who can't get up and down them easily

relaxed

by theresax

Came here earlier this month and had the 'Lunchtime Delight' package, a gift from Stan :-)

The package includes:
30 min. Customized mini Facial
30 min. Swedish Massage

I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm not a spa person, I have not been to many, so i dont have much to judge on but man, after coming here, I think ive gotten started on an expensive hobby bc I am already itching for my next massage. I don't remember what the names of the women who worked on me but they were both very sweet. The relaxation room had a good selection of: magazines, yummy dried fruits, nuts, and refreshing teas. You could also, relax in the sauna and shower after which was great. after leaving, I realized I spent over 2 hrs there, time flew

Oasis Spa - Do Not Go

by nsm613

Oasis Spa at One Park Ave has construction being done on the building which results in loud banging making the service unpleasant at best.

Spa management does not feel it is necessary to inform spa goers in advance and offered me a whole $20 off a future service.

Needless to say I will not be returning.

Cons: Loud banging heard in massage rooms

FANTASTIC MASSAGES.

by kelereds

My husband and I have been here mostly for couples massages and the body scrubs which have been done separately-not as a couple). The massages are always really really fantastic. The body scrubs can be bit longer and you should have the options not to wear that ridiculous disposable panty (very uncomfortable) and I'm a 160lb woman. I always wanted to do the brazilian wax and will try that on my next go around.Couple of slight mentions: While the front desk staff is professional, I have (NEVER) gotten the really warm and welcoming feeling from them, but then I come for the technicians/services and not to spend a lot of time in the waiting room. One thing that would be great would be to have a few longer size robes and larger slippers (size 14) to accommodate my husband who is 6'5" and 275lbs. Rooms are always clean and smell great. The locker room is very clean and I'm a "Felix Unger". I will continue to visit Oasis and have always recommended the services to my family, friends and even my boss.

Pros: Great techicians

Cons: Front desk personnel-Price

I booked an appt here for my boyfriend and I for Valentine's Day and we loved it! The facility was very clean and the service was great. We were treated like king and queen for the day. We receieved the couples massage and both ended up falling asleep because it was so heavenly. I'd recommend this fabulous spa on Park Ave.

Pros: massage, ambience, cleanliness, staff

Cons: none!

An underground cozy spa

by jojo1234567

Went here three times over the past three years, with the latest time last week. It smells lovely, the staff is friendly, the amenities are great (snacks in the dressing room and waiting room, great spa products without the usual markup, nice toiletries). I've had hot stone massages and swedish massages here (one of the massages was with Kevin A.) and they are lovely. The massage staff really tailors the massage to what you want. The facials are lovely and include arm and neck massage. Extractions aren't the fun part of a facial, but they really do help. I liked the warming mitts that softened my hands while the facialist, Mickey, worked at making my skin glow. The spa products include more than one line, which I really like. (Dermalogica, GM Collin, etc.). I had seen this spot over time and they are very consistent in their approach. I also had a pedicure and manicure here and it was thorough and relaxing. Highly recommended for all. Beaware that you have to take steps down to get to the spa,in case you have accessibiliity issues.

Pros: Greeat Location, Great Staff and Service

Cons: Need to take stairs to spa

Great treatments including prenatal

by brittanysbuzz

I have visited Oasis numerous times over the past five years and have never been disappointed. I've had massages, facials and scrubs with various therapists and always had a great experience. I was very surprised to read some of the negative reviews as I am an avid spa goer and have been to over 30 different spas in the city and Oasis is one of my favorites! The relaxation room is calming, quiet and offers small treats and beverages. I never feel rushed (even if I'm the last appointment of the night) and the staff is always pleasant and attentive. I also like the fact that Oasis is not sales-y like other spas and doesn't make you feel like your sitting through a sales pitch during your treatment.

Recently, I was pregnant and in desperate need of monthly prenatal massages. I started going to Oasis halfway through the pregnancy and continued until my due date. Nancy was a lifesaver. She was compassionate, open to feedback and truly expressed interest in my areas of concern, pressure, etc. She instinctively knew when I wanted to talk or simply drift away. I didn't feel like I was in a pregnant body when Nancy worked on me. I felt no pregnancy pressure and even managed to fall asleep -- very rare for anyone in their third trimester!

Oasis is truly a spa worth visiting. I don't think any business (especially in NYC) can please all the people all the time but Oasis truly comes close. I've noticed the owner, Bruce, personally answers the negative reviews and encourages unhappy visitors to contact him. This is a testament of how he cares and wants to offer an exceptional spa experience to all of his clients. Many of the NYC spas are not privately owned but simply owned by a large corporation/board. Those spas could care less about their clients. You could visit every month for years and they wouldn't even notice you. Oasis offers exceptional service and treatments and is a tremendous asset to the spa and beauty industry.

Pros: terrific treatments, attentive staff, pleasant environment

Happy Birthday to me!

by bluwatersoul

I had a massage, mani and pedi for my birthday. The experience was very friendly and warm. I have had many massages before at some slightly upscale spas, usually with a mineral bath attached, and this experience stands out as a pleasant one. The waiting area is comfy with water and snacks and tea, although I did feel slightly awkward sitting there in my robe ( I arrived way early). I don't remember who I had for my massage, but she was great - it took me a little while to get back into my body afterwards, I was floating. The Asian woman who did my mani and pedi was really good and very friendly(we both love gardening) but also very professional. She did a fantastic job. I found overall the staff and atmosphere to be just right, and the establishment is aptly named; it is a little Oasis in the middle of Manhattan. I hope to be back, or at least return the favor to my husband!

Pros: atmosphere, service

Nice couples massage

by princessporkie

I went here for a couple's massage. My bf never had a massage before so I wanted to bring him to one to relax. We just came back for a snowboarding trip and that was also his first snowboarding experience so I knew his body was going to be sore. I think this was a nice place for a couple's massage. He did not feel awkward at all. The only time he did feel weird a little was when we were in the waiting room. We seperated to go to changed and we met each other in the waiting room. I think he did look a little out of place because he is not a tiny man. He has broad shoulders so him sitting next to tiny me and some skinny women and men that usually go to spas was a little weird but no one paid attention to us so he was fine. When we met our masseuses they walked us to our room and left us alone so that we can get undress and lay on our seperate tables. The massage was ok. It is not the best ones I had but it was ok. My bf really enjoyed it though. I think it was a nice place for him to experience the world of massages and spas. They also have a couples massage that includes teaching you and your partner how to massage for more money. I did not go for that since I knew we were going to be too tired to massage each other after our snowboarding trip.

Pros: very posh spa

Cons: price

An Island of peace and relaxation

by laurienyc3

My skin is very sensitive, even temperamental, and although I've always been curious about having a facial, I was afraid that it might have a bad effect on me. A friend recommended Julie to me, and I'm glad that I took her advice. I've had two appointments with Julie so far, and both facials left my face feeling soft, smooth, and thoroughly cleansed. Julie is an expert esthetician and she is also a warm, caring person. My overall experience at Oasis has also been positive, thanks to the spa's comfortable, non-judgemental atmosphere. I'm seduced and can only strongly recommend the experience, Bravo !

Best Brazilians Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by teensytiny

I was a true Donna fan and was scared to death when she left. I didn't know what to do! Donna herself suggested Mickey!!!! She has been doing my brazilians for a while now and I just wanted to give her props for always doing such a great job. And most of all for always making me feel totally comfortable and making me leave with a smile every time. And get the "NO SCREAM CREAM" that stuff really works!! Mickey told me to try it and I did. It makes waxing soooooooooo much easier.

Kudos Mickey!!! You make a difficult task almost enjoyable.

My eyebrows look beautiful now also. Thanks to her.

Pros: Quick waxing. Super Friendly!!!!

Cons: none

It was what it was.... :)

by echobaby22

After reading all of the reviews on City Search (and taking the good with the bad), I decided to pick this place for a well overdue spa session. I bought the "Oasis Signature Package" and my friend had the 90 minute stone massage. The massage and the sea scrub was amazing - both of the people I dealt with were extremely professional and courteous, and I loved every minute of my experiences with them. The facial I had was good, but the extractions were extremely painful - I have had extractions done by my dermotologist and I never felt like needles were stabbing my face before (my nasal area is still a bit sore)and that's how my extractions felt. (I also have a feeling that my facialist was chewing gum....but I am not sure as the smells could have also been the products she was using....) Then again, (while I have had massages and scrub treatments before) I had never had a facial done, so I don't know if that's normal depending on the condition of your skin. The person who did my facial was good though and didn't push me to purchase any of the products (though I plan to later on...), which was a definite plus. My friend also loved her hot stone massage, but every time she got close to being completely relaxed, the masseuse would drop a stone (eeek!). :)

I would go back to this place - the prices were reasonable, and the overall experience was good. I had some quirks I didn't like, but it wasn't enough for me not to go back.

Pros: Location

Cons: None worth mentioning

Excellent massage experience at oasis

by jimmychooshoes

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I booked a swedish massage with Kevin A at the Park ave location...it was one of the most satisfying massages i've ever had. I've had many massages at many spas all over the city and i think i finally found my massage therapist!!!! The massage was very deep and cleansing and i felt amazing afterwards. He focused on the issues and put me back together. The following day there was some soreness but no other discomfort. I would definately go back to oasis again. THe locker room was stocked and clean, the staff was friendly, the massage was excellent. Overall a great experience. Thanks.

Part II: Suggestions

by meagain1982

* I was double charged accidentally, which is VERY annoying. They are trying to fix that issue right now * The pictures make it look much bigger than it actually is -- the sauna in the men's lounge can fit maybe 3 men max! * Perhaps the green hydrotherapy towels should be used for massages instead, as that seems to be a consistent complaint (though I didn't personally have a problem with it) * The lobby can tend to be loud * I wore swim trunks for my Sea Scrub as the website suggested, but Hala asked me to change into the disposable wear -- which the site specifically says is for WOMEN. I didn't think there would be much difference, but they definitely are not built for men ... you are covered with a towel as well, but it was a bit awkward. Please get these to fit men or in larger sizes! I am a Size 32 Waist and it barely fit around me, much less in ... other areas. Also, if someone is going in for more than one treatment, more thought should go in scheduling the order. I don't think an oily massage really makes sense after a sea scrub that cleanses the skin. More time should also be allowed between treatments so that the sauna and relaxation room can be actually enjoyed. AGAIN, I'd like to reiterate that I had a great time at Oasis and would return -- these are simply things I noticed.

Pros: See Part I...

Cons: Double Charged, Disposable Wear
