I am a guy, so a mani pedi is a big thing for me and I dont want to be mocked when I go. Also I speak the langugae so I know what they are saying about me, but at this place it is pretty good, they dont talk about you and they treat men

I decided to go to this place for a facial because they were listed on the Spa Week website, and I had a $50 Spa Week gift card to burn. I have been getting facials for the last 12 years, and have found the perfect esthetician that I have

The massage by Carol was pretty good. I love the heated massage bed, but the sound proof was really bed. You hear exactly everything outside, people opening the boxes, talking and foot steps.

Element Beauty Lounge's atmosphere was pretty nice. I made sure to make an appointment early so I wouldn't be bombarded with a slew of fashionistas also waiting to get their Mani-Pedis. When I got there they were just setting up, which I thought was odd because I showed up 20 minutes after they were scheduled to open. The whole procedure was fantastic. Ako, who tended to me from start to finish, did an excellent job on my toes and my fingers. Even getting rid of EVERY ugly-dry cuticle!!!

Why did I only give them 3 out of 5 stars? To start, there were signs everywhere "suggesting" that the client give a 15-20% tip. I thought this was a little unorthodox, but may be helpful as they listed how much each percentage was worth for a 62 dollar value. (probably for the Groupon people, like myself)

Lastly, the Receptionist/"Manager" (she told another woman, that came in to complain, she was the manager)...who ever she was needs to either get a speech coach or learn how to speak English correctly. I couldn't understand a word she was saying over the phone or in person. After drying time, I personally handed my manicurist her tip and thanked her (more than 15%). When I was heading towards the door the Reception-Manager stopped me to ask me to give my Mancurist a tip! I told her I did and I left. I was surprised! No one has ever asked me to give a tip in my life before. It was as if it was Mandatory! I thought this was rude especially for a place of it's caliber. Tips are NOT mandatory, nor are the percentages! They are considered GRATITUDE for a job well done. Nail salons in the most ghetto parts of The Bronx aren't this rude!

Cons: Rude Manager. Pushy for Tips and how much to tip!

Everyone was really friendly from the moment I walked in and the atmosphere was really relaxing. They have so many hot colors to choose from too. Their new Essie summer colors are awesome, and I haven't seen them in a lot of the other salons I've been to. And if the color is a must-have, they will sell it to you for a really decent price. The mani pedi I got was great and a week and 1/2 later it still looks fresh which is really hard to come by. I feel like after going to most salons my polish looks bad even just a few days after but not here. I feel like the overall experience was better than most salons in their price range too. Highly recommend!

This is my go to spot for mani/pedis. There are other cheap places you can go in the East Village but at Element you actually get the true ??spa? experience. Just the fact that they always offer you water or tea (and a magazine) really makes a difference. The nail technicians are never hurrying you as they (rudely) do at other places. Even when they are busy they take the time to give you a free quick shoulder and neck massage when your nails are drying. It definitely makes you want to get one of their chair massages. All the girls I have had so far have really strong hands, which is a plus for me. OH, and their chairs massage pedicure chairs are awesome. They actually work the knots out of my back more than anywhere else I??ve been.

Perfect spa for a girl??s day! Or night, apparently, since they are open super late. I went here with 5 of my girlfriends after brunch one Sunday. We walked in with no appointments and they were able to take all 6 of us without appointments. Shocking. We all started with pedicures. I decided to splurge and get their signature Elemental pedicure. This was the perfect treat after a few mimosas. I??m shocked I didn??t fall asleep in the super comfy massage chair, especially with the foot massage I received. My pedicure ended up taking longer than my friend??s so a few of them ended up getting manicures and chair massages. Everyone was super happy with the experience. I got props from everyone for suggesting the place. Extra star for making me the ??trend setter? that introduced everyone to this spot.

Best place for a massage. Ask for Carol, she is great. Sometimes you can catch the 45 minute Swedish massage special for $50 which is an amazing deal for how nice the place is. Otherwise, I prefer to get 1 hour or even an hour and a half. I like that the spa is downstairs and separate from the nail salon part upstairs. It??s much quieter, dark and relaxing down there. They always make sure to offer you water, hot tea and even fresh fruit. I had surgery on my shoulder a few years back and I can??t just go any place for massage. Carol really works my shoulder without doing any damage. She definitely knows what she??s doing. I??ve gotten a massage on days when she??s not there and everyone I??ve had is still very competent and does a great job.

I came in for a mani, pedi and to get my eyebrows done. Great experience. THe manicurist was very nice, and polite and did a great job. The chair massaged you as your feet soaked in a mini whirpool. The chair was actually a bit too strong for me and i didnt know how to work the controls. The pedicure also included a quick massage which as any NYers know - your calves need it from all the walking. Even the manicure including a quick hand massage. So nice. WHile your nails dried you also get a quick back and neck massage. They are all about pampering you. A nice touch was all the tvs playing music videos from top and indie artists. They were everywhere. Even when i was laying on the table getting my eyebrows waxed there was a tvv on the ceiling! The eyebrow wax was quick and only stung for a bit.

All in all. Great job Element!

Element is located a couple of blocks away from my apartment and I really enjoy going here. The manicurists are friendly and always listening to what the customers needs are. The prices are reasonable which helps in this economy and you can find a good mani-pedi deal. It's open until 10pm during the week which is really helpful. They also have a nice points program where you can earn points on purchases towards free manicures. Definitely a nice perk!

I visited the Element Beauty Lounge on April 18, 2009 as part of Spa week and just to refreshen myself before my spring break was over. I was skeptical at first because Ive seen places that claim to be spas but are really nail shops, holes in the wall or someones apartment turned into a spa. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I like to feel the full spa treatment without hearing people come in and out like it's mcdonalds. Anyway, when I got there for a 11am Mani-Pedi and facial i was once again skeptical but it really is a nice place with two floors, upper for nails and chair massages and underground is like an oasis, dimly lit with sliding door rooms. Very clean. I was greeted and offered tea or water a mini-bar with a vogue magazine. I was delighted. my facial expert came up to greet me and escorted me to my room. she was really nice and explained my skin to me and used alot of Dermologica products. The bed was very comfy with duvet like sheets but shouldve been a bit heated, I never had a facial before so this really turned me onto it. Next I had a milk and honey 75 min Mani-pedi in a massaging chair that has alot of soothing options. They use alot of their own organic products, so you can inquire with them whats good and not good. The tools were sterilized as well as the foot bath. After my Mani-Pedi i was seated at the drying station and recieved a mini-massage (bliss!). The nail polish options are endless as they use Essie and Opi polishes, they also sell them as well as the facial products. The service was really great, I could ask for water or anything while my service was being done and they all speak English very well and mostly use english around the customers, as opposed to some places where everyone only knows a few words and constantly speak watever as they service u (Hate that)...like others have mentioned there are tvs everywhere on the upper floor playing all types of music. Only downfall was the coughin and sneezing, 2 of the workers were coughing and sneezing like flowers were in the room and i caught one not covering her mouth...plz spare me the germs (thats why they got 4 stars), also its not one of those spas where you roam around in a robe, I'm not sure how massages go, but for my facial i was asked to remove my upper half of clothing which I didnt mind but everyone may not feel the same as I...I would definetly recommend this place...as they say if a place has a clean bathroom then their good to go!...well check there's its sparkly right down to the glitter tiles!

element beauty is the perfect place for a day of pampering.
they had the most amazing massage pedicure chairs and a complementary massage after your manicure! the many services that were included in their treatments were soothing and relaxing. the workers were so nice and pleasant. the receptionist at the front desk was very accommodating and explained each treatments to me, when i was totally lost with all their choices. they also have tv montors everywhere with music videos, which was a nice touch.
it's been about a week since my treatment but both my hands and feet still look fresh.

My fell in love at my first visit at the element lounge. Their service is amazing! i was relaxed and pampered from head to toe. Unlike other nail salons and spas, they're very gentle with skin yet still manage to exfoliate all the excess junk on my hands and feet. My feet haven't felt this soft in ages! I highly recommend the hot stone treatment. It will relax you to the max and relieve your stress.

Element Beauty Lounge is a MUST!!! From the eye catching exterior to the beautifully designed interior, everything about Element Beauty Lounge screams high quality service and relaxation. There is a wide array of colors to choose from, including the seasons hottest pick. Once you have made your selection, the nail technicians pamper you to the max. I had the hot stone treatment which included: hot towel massage, hot stone massage, mud-pack on your legs, leg massage, paraffin treatment, callous removal treatment, etc. Kay was my nail technician and she did a phenomenal job and was extremely kind as well. I highly recommend her. My mani/pedi was done impeccably and I absolutely love the color. I received a tour of the lower level and the sauna and massage/spa rooms are really nice. I love that Element Beauty Lounge is so clean. They don't reuse their materials like so many other places and their prices don't do justice for their amazing service!!!!

i walked into element because their window display were eye-catching and so trendy!
when i found out that it was an urban spa, i could not help myself but treat myself to their spa manicure and element pedicure. it was simply fabulous, the element pedicure included so many treatments such as the mud mask for your legs, paraffin for your feet, heel therapy treatments, hot towel massage, and so much more! the technician who provided the service was very friendly, and she explained every step of the treatments and how they are helpful. she was accommodating till the moment i stepped out of the spa, and i feel like i have gotten so much more than my money's worth. i would be back to element every time i need to take a breather. i would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the quiet and a qualified spa on their day off.

One of the best mani/pedi's I've ever gotten in the city. I went in after a long day at work, and was just exhausted. The girl who did my mani/pedi was an absolute sweetheart and made sure that I was as relaxed as possible. She was sweet, and did a meticulous, marvelous job on my nails. The facility is brand new and has state of the art massage chairs for pedicures. The price of the treatments doesn't even begin to do justice for the level of service. I've paid far more for not even half as good manicures and pedicures.I give this place 5 stars and am absolutely going back soon!

For a mani-pedi, you simply cannot find a better place. The nail services are skilled and luxurious. While most nail salons consider a massage to be a quick pat of the back of your hands, the Element nail techs provide long, muscle-relaxing true massages. And they always have sweet smiles on their faces. For a mani-pedi, Element simply cannot be beat - anywhere in the 5 borroughs.
