My father and I both have horrible cases of Crohn's Disease, and sadly on this day in 2005 he lost his struggle. Please do not go in this store for something as frivolous as chocolate, walk a block and go to another shop. Why would I ask you to do this when this man is my grandfather? The only paternal link I have in my entire family? Because I was raised since I was three by my only mother, and she worked hard. We have a letter dating back to about three months after I was born, my mom begging my grandfather who has more money than he knows what to do with, a mansion right on the water, boats, his middle child just got married in custom Jimmy Choo shoes (the one's Bella wore in Twilight) at the Ritz Carlton, yet he never responded. My mom could have had a three month old out on the street and did he even care? Did he call and check up (my mother is a foster child btw, so family on her side is quite limited..) or make an effort to make sure his granddaughter was safe. Nope. Now I'm 17 and I think I'm untouchable, well that is when my dad's crohn's first hit, and it mimicked in me. I was so sick the doctor had to do surgery. He messed up while putting a piece of bowel back together, so I had major complications of surgery. My poor mom all alone, witnessed me convulsing and flat-lining and I don't remember much except being in the ICU, my stomach growing with infection.(I have ALL these records, in case you were wondering how legitimate I am) So I had to have another emergency surgery, and because I was so sick and so depleted of everything a normal body should have, I had to live out six months, prom, and the end of my senior year in a hospital. Even got to turn 18 in there. My mom called grandpa's wife, who wanted NOTHING to do with my father or his siblings. They had a new family now. Out with the old in with the new right? That's how they live. She told my mom "diet and exercise, that's all she needs and she'll be fine", I couldn't even get out of bed, how was I supposed to exercise?! My mom was once again calling for help because after the first mistake was made she refused to leave my side, and she was trying to keep her job, but would cry because leaving me was inevitable. If this man had sold ONE of his boats, and been kind and giving to his grandaughter that was going through a major crisis, my mom wouldn't have had to leave. This is when my dad flew in. Him and I had always butt heads because we were so much alike, but I finally understood how he must have felt, those times he would be in the hospital and it would be a holiday, and he would have to use all his strength to fight the disease that ravaged our bodies. I'm so happy I got over my ill feelings towards him because not even six months later, he had passed away. I miss him more than anything, especially because grandpa and his wife refuse to speak to me. I heard my mom calling grandpa at the store, and I heard her say "how could you say something like this Joe?" Turns out the owner of this Naples Kiliwins franchise decided he dealt with enough sickness in his life (although he's always been healthy as a horse), that he doesn't want me to be a part of the family. He told my mom "at this age I just don't have room for anymore family." Who SAYS that?! Not I hope Madicyn made it out of surgery well, but "I have enough to deal with than add another family member". I'm sorry but last time I checked you didn't get to decide which family members you decide is worth your time and those that aren't. My half brother and sister are part of his family, so I can't help but think it's because I'm sick. So just remember who your money is going to, a grumpy old man, a wife that gave my father pills when he was only about 18 so my father would like Sue and push for the two of them to get married, and all the riches one could ask for, yet when I simply asked this man to sign for a CAR (obviously I would be paying, but hospital bills and student loans drive my financing up so high I can't even afford a monthly payment, so his co signing would help to no end) I still had staples in my gut and I had to take public transportation, I had to run to catch up wth the bus and pulled a staple, sanitary isn't it. So what did Joe and Sue do? They at first told me they would help. Shocking, I know. But that didn't last long before Joe and Sue the Owners of Kiliwins on 5th ave in Naples went out and bought another Lexus for Sue. All four of their kids have cars, houses paid for, jet skis, and I have to pull a staple running to the bus. So when I plead with you to go to a different shop, please do. As one person put on here they are so greedy they make their employees work holidays. They by NO MEANS need that money. I just called and was hung up on by my grandfather Joe, on the anniversary of my dad's death.
