I'm guessing this is Steve who wrote this response to my original post. Let me start by saying that Kool Kars Inc. you are very professional in making an attempt to call me stupid. I applaud you for your how unprofessional you are by attempting to call someone stupid. It's nice to know that a 20 year old is more professional and mature than say someone in their 40s-50s.

Now moving on...

You were aware that the car did break down shortly after leaving the dealership. You were also aware of all the problems the car had, but failed to mention that. Instead you sold the car to me and told me it was in great condition. At one point Steven and I were standing in front of the car, had the hood up, and Steve even said words that I was smart, knew what I wanted and was purchasing a great vehicle. He went on to say for me to stick with the cars like "your Hyundais, Toyotas, and Hondas".

I haven't lied about the sales tax. Scott, the buffoon with the lisp, who I was referring to in my first post was scrambling around looking for the paper that showed the NYS tax percentage because they couldn't charge me FL tax. Why would the lady at the DMV lie to my father and say that you shouldn't have charged tax at all? How does she benefit from that?

My problem is that you DIDN'T help me fix the car because it broke down a couple of hours later. I WOULD'VE STILL had a problem if that car broke down a couple of hours later and I did have the warranty because anyone would expect a car to last longer than that without having to have it repaired!

Why do you keep mentioning the AS IS paperwork, I am aware of that and so is everybody else. A real dealership would've have helped out in fixing the car because the car lasting couple of hours doesn't fit the terms great condition. You may have gotten passed the law with your paperwork but people will see from reading this that you sell poor vehicles and then don't help when an issue arises.

You at Kool Kars Inc. have absolutely no consideration for anyone. If I would've purchased that warranty at an additional hefty cost, it wouldn't have stopped me from getting HURT or KILLED on the highway when the car broke down a couple of hours later. I wouldn't have been able to flash that warranty paper in the air to protect me from being seriously harmed! Correct? Anyone who doesn't know about the FL 836, this highway is busy most of the time especially during the hours of 3pm-7pm, which I got stranded within that time frame.

You may have been covered legally but morally you at Kool Kars Inc, are wrong and you know it!

You can hide behind your SOLD AS IS paperwork all you want but the bottom line is that your business practices are terrible and you are unwilling to help customers.

Of course you can check the BBB rating and see it, however BBB is based on the law. And because you have the AS IS paper, is why you are able to have that rating. If the BBB looked further than the "law" they would find many DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS! I am aware of at least one other person who had a similar poor experience at your dealership.

Let me ask you this, did you try to help me and resolve my issue besides offering a pricey warranty to me?

Look up the definition of slandering, it has to do with making false statements. I have NOT made any false statements about Kool Kars Inc.

I am here to help protect people looking to buy used cars from dealerships, and Kool Kars Inc. is NOT one of them. They are terrible people without morals.

MANY other car DEALERSHIPS within Miami and Ft. Lauderdale WOULD'VE HELPED fix the car if it broke down a couple of hours later EVEN IF the car was SOLD AS IS.
It's a matter of taking proper responsibility for your actions and being honest and trustworthy!

You at Kool Kars Inc, are STUBBORN, DISHONEST and STEAL MONEY from people by false advertising!

You knew that the Hyundai Sonata had a vast amount of problems and you failed to tell me that or try to fix those problems before I bought the vehicle.

People who read this will understand my position and hopefully not shop at Kool Kars Inc. Just becuase you are covered by your AS IS paperwork doesn't mean people will be satisfied with your business ways. There are many other excellent dealerships in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale who will make your used car buying experience the best. They will also make sure to help you with any issues that arise within a reasonable time period. Kool Kars Inc. IS NOT one of these dealerships. If you buy a car from them and the car breaks down 5 feet away from their lot, they will turn their heads, look the other way and flash their AS IS paperwork!

Kool Kars Inc. is a shady, dishonest car dealership who sells vehicles in poor condition, but offer them as in great condition. Then they turn around and hide behind their AS IS paperwork!

KOOL KARS, INC RESPONDS - Sept. 8, 2010

THE FACTS

The review left by RR is untrue. It is in fact mostly lies. FACT: this young man purchased a used car under the crystal clear AS IS - NO WARRANTY terms of the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles approved form. FACT: The words as is are right on his purchase agreement. We told him, to his face, prior to his buying the car that there is NO WARRANTY of any kind .... once you leave you are on your own. The price of the car was based on it being sold AS IS without a Warranty. FACT: The buyer was offered an opportunity to have the car professionally inspected prior to purchase. FACT: He declined because he "didn't want to pay someone to check the car". FACT: We are required by Florida law to collect the correct Florida Sales Tax if we deliver a vehicle in Florida (which was the case). There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this law concerning collecting the sales tax. FACT: We paid the sales tax that we collected to the State of Florida.

EVERYONE clearly understands that buying a used car has risks! That when a used car is sold AS IS - NO WARRANTY it means that once you buy the car it is 100% the buyers responsibility and the seller has 0% responsibility. It is why they cost less than cars with a warranty.

Thanks for reading.

I'm a college student who had finally saved up enough money to buy a car. I was so excited for my purchase, however I didn't have help in finding a car as I was living in Miami without any family.
I shopped around for awhile looking to spend around $5,000 or so. A lot of places and cars in Miami appeared to be shady to me, so i broadened my search to include Ft. Lauderdale. I found a 2003 Hyundai Sonata for a little over $4,000.
I immediately wanted to see it, and I went out there. The car appeared to look clean, and I checked all the things that internet check lists and carfax said to check. I thought I was being a good consumer. I decided i wanted to purchase the car. Their cars are sold AS IS, and that's a major red flag, but who was I to judge? It was going to be my first car and I was excited, and I also had the sense of "trust" in these two nice guys I dealt with.
One of the guy was in his late 50s named Steve, the other buffoon's name was Scott who was in his 40s. So I purchased the car and drove off the lot. Now I live in downtown Miami which is about 40 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale, and the car drove perfectly fine, smooth and quiet.
I then take a stop for some food with my friend. When we left I go to start the car and it starts but it hesitates, so I give it gas and it works just fine. Then I go out in the car about an hour later, and I'm driving on the FL 836 (Speed limit 55mph) up the incline right before the NW 27th Ave. exit and the lights inside the car start going crazy and the car stalls on me, so I quickly try to get over on this incline onto the shoulder, almost hitting a cop on the way.
I make it over and the car will no longer start for me. Now I'm stuck on an incline on the 836 with Miami drivers flying by me and my car is shaking as they pass by, a very scary feeling. I call Kool Kars and Steve gives me a generic explanation about how the car is sold AS IS but offers me one of their extended warranty plans.
Then I have my father call and my dad was given the same exact response. Now a decent car dealership would've helped even though it is sold AS IS because they don't want their reputation damaged.
This place wouldn't budge in helped or anything. I had the car towed back to my apartment, and later taken to be fixed. After all the damages, the repairs costs me a little over $1,100 dollars to fix.
We call Kool Kars and tell them and they don't have a care in the world that I could have been seriously injured on a busy highway or to how they screwed a 19 year old college student out of thousands of dollars.
On top of that when my father went to register the car back in NY where I am from, it turns out Kool Kars charged me NY tax that wasn't enough first of all, so my dad had to pay more. Second off they shouldn't have charged tax at all, and didn't even send that into the state. They just took the "tax" money and profited with it.
We wrote letter to the BBB, state attorney general, and so forth, all with responses that they can't help me.
I find it hard to believe that something couldn't have been done to further help me with this problem, however I don't want to see anyone else get screwed over, or to see Kool Kars make business ever again.
