They are the best. I have never had any problems with this office. I'm crazy with my girls, they cough one time and I'm already calling them. They are extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions you throw at them. Everyone is so

As a first time parent I had many concerns about vaccination and Dr. Keller was receptive in implementing the SEARS method. Never a long wait, very organized. Dr. Dones and Dr. Escobio are wonderful and knowledgable. I can;t say enough

I don't usually like to talk bad about others, but as a parent, I would want someone to tell me. Dr. Flicker was okay. Seems like a nice enough man. But the office staff is truly terrible. Every single staff member I came in contact with was rude - seemed like they didn't want customers around - that we were wasting their valuable time. But the cherry on top was an angry tall blond nurse. She started out rude & then got worse. Our 7 month old son had terrible diarrhea. I'd used all the plastic bags I had in our diaper bag to dispose of the mess. And then we had another diaper filled. I asked her where I could throw it away - she told me I needed to take it with me. So I asked if she had a plastic bag I could put it in. She brought me a small ziplock bag that wouldn't have held the diaper, let alone the whole mess. She weighed our son at the end of our appointment with the doctor. She was so rough with him, he started crying (not like him at all). So I picked him up to comfort him. She stood in the doorway & announced that our appointment was over. I said thank you. That I'd calm him down, get him dressed & then we'd be on our way. She said no. We needed to leave immediately. We couldn't even get our son dressed before she pushed us out the front door! If you want kind & sympathetic care for your little one, I don't recommend Kings Bay Pediatrics.

I have 2 grandchildren that are seen in this office, both of them have been seen by other offices in the past which can not hold a candle to these Doctors. We have always gotten the best of care here. My one Granddaughter has been extremely ill and she has been in the hospital several times (under another offices care) with no extra concern from the doctor and no real answers or follow-up. Since she started with King's Bay she became very ill, when I called they saw her immediately and then when realizing the severity they immediately sent her to the hospital, but the service did not stop there... they continued to check on her status until they admitted her and then followed up with a visit to the hospital everyday of the nearly two weeks she was in the hospital. These Doctors are all wonderful and I would recommend them highly to anyone.

Cons: Not one

I'm shocked at the negative reviews that I'm reading. I'm a first time mom and have been going to King's Bay Pediatrics for a year and a half. I've met with Dr. Keller, Dr. Flicker, Dr. Paul and talked with Dr. Dones over the phone for a minor allergy scare! I would recommend this office to anyone because all the doctors that I've mentioned above were very thorough with my son and seemed completely focused on answering all of our questions. The girls that answer the phone are hardly friendly or helpful. But once you get past them, the nurses are fabulous! In fact, being a first time mom, of course I've had a few questions that have come up between routine visits and I just talk to the nurses because they are so knowledgeable. My advise to anyone who reads this (and previous negative posts) is please go find out for yourselves before you rule them out based on someone's negative experience because I'm very happy that I don't have to drive far, the hours are manageable and I completely trust the doctors' opinions.

Pros: informative, simpathetic, thorough

Cons: receptioninsts, long wait time for appointments

.

I just moved to the area and was hoping to go to King Bay. It took over a month to get a first appointment, but I overlooked the rudeness of the office staff, hoping the wait meant that the office was that great. I was wrong. My child had an emergency and the office and nursing staff were SO rude to me that I left their office in tears. I would NEVER recommend them. As a first time mom, I expect common kindness. They are cold and rude.

My child has been going to this practice since birth. Although we prefer Dr. Keller, who is the very best possible pediatrician that you could find, we've also seen the other doctors on occasion. Yes, Flicker is smug and lacks basic interpersonal skills, but he's very experienced and a great diagnostician. Yes, Dones can be high strung and opinionated, but she's very thorough and I doubt she'd miss anything. The nurses/nurse practitioners are professional and consistent. I have confidence in their medical ability, and will put up with a little annoyance to get good care for my child.

The doctors and nurses my wife and I met at this place are the most uncompassionate, disrespectful, arrogant and merciless bunch of so called professionals I have ever encountered in my entire life. My 4 month old daughter was manhandled so bad they almost ripped her earring right out of her earlobe. My wife and I felt so helpless watching her cry and the nurse tried to deny she did it. In the same visit, they had to stick a cotton swab up her nose. She had her first cold so I guess it was to see if it was a cold or the flu. Anyways, I could not believe how hard and far they stuck it up her nose. They stuck it so far up her nose in fact that when they pulled the swab out of her nose she screamed like she was dying and it was hours before she stopped. To this day, I really hope they didn't cause any permanent damage. On our very first visit when our daughter was one month old one of the doctors told us how fussy of a baby she was and how difficult our lives were going to be. Thanks for the encouragement Doc. After the first couple of months our daughter stopped fussing and started sleeping mostly through the night. Who does this doctor think she is filling our heads with nothing but negativity about our baby one month after she is born? On another visit I asked the doctor a simple question as to whether or not the immunization she is getting could cause autism. What I got back was a condescending reply about how ridiculous of a question that was. He actually used the word ??ridiculous?. I told one of my co-workers about how I will never bring my child back to Kings Bay Pediatrics and she told me she also had a very bad experience with them. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. IF YOU LOVE YOUR CHILDREN AND ARE READING THIS AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Cons: Uncompassionate, Disrespectful, Arrogant and Merciless

Kings bay was recommended to us by a colleague of my wife's, a surgeon. When we arrived, we were astonished at the lack of professionalism and courtesy displayed by the young lady at the receptionist desk... I think she might have mistaken her occupation for a night club host or trendy restaurant bartender with her short and rude responses.... Also the place looked crowded and unorganized....

While I understand that you are merely conceding that this was not the right place for you and are helping others realize that these doctors (or just the one who is nameless) are very traditional in their practice and therefore not for everyone, I do have to make one point.
Even though you are a professional woman you did not go through years of medical school, residency, and internships. Doctors are experts in their field constantly educating themselves about all of the latest medical findings and research, and furthermore they now-a-days have to constantly concern themselves with law suits for not being cautious enough. While their method of disagreeing with you came off as arrogant and unflinching they were probably acting in what they felt was in the best interest of your child. As a mother you have the right to decide, but do not think so ill of them for trying to do what they think was in the best interest of your child and for feeling so passionate about their field and their patients.

I have two children and both have gone to Kings Bay Pediatrics since birth. This place is excellent. The nurses are wonderful and doctors are very knowledgeable with great bedside manner. Dr. Dones is the best, although Drs. Escobio and Keller are wonderful too. Dr. Dones always remembers me and my kids; it is always a pleasant experience to visit. The doctors here truly care about the kids.

Iwasrefetred to the group when my tween was 3 years old. I tried the holistic approach which was a huge mistake and landed her in hospital with pneumonia 5 times in 1 year. I was pleased with the facilities and ALL physicians and staff are dilligent in treatment, caring, and there is always a physician that can see them or talk to over the phone. As my girls grow I see how important having female doctors on staff is important to make them feel at ease now and through their teen years. My 7 year old is seen since birth. We live all the doctors and staff but they have a great attachment to Dr. Maddy Dones, a firecracker of a doctor. What an asset to the group and what a great office to go to

If you are the type of parent who dutifully does whatever the doctor "recommends," you will be fine with this practice. If, on the other hand, you are the type of parent who thinks that 1) God gives parents a brain and common sense because He intends for us to make decisions of behalf of our young children, and 2) God gives our children immune systems and perhaps they don't need every (or any) vaccine known to mankind, you will not want to take your child to these people.

These doctors are completely and totally mainstream. They are not open at all to any kind of natural approach to health. They will NOT take your child as a patient unless you agree to ALL shots THEY require and on THEIR schedule. If you want to delay or decline vaccines, do NOT go here. You will be in for a very upsetting experience. If you do not give in, they may even ask you to leave the office immediately. That is what happened to me.

I'm not a stranger to this practice; my 13-year-old son was a patient since birth. At that time I did everything they said. However, when my 2-year-old son was born in March 2007, I had changed my mind about vaccines and decided that he would not receive any. When I took my newborn baby to their office to establish him as a patient and I told the nurse that I would not be vaccinating him, she rudely told me that they would not accept the baby as a patient and that I needed to leave. I asked if I could at least talk to one of the doctors and she said "No. He will be very angry if he comes in here and you refuse to vaccinate the baby. So you need to leave now." It was an extremely upsetting and humiliating experience, and I would not wish it on anyone, particularly a mother who has recently given birth.

This is a sincere warning to parents who want to take the natural approach to their children's health. Do not waste your time. These are not the doctors for you.

I brought my son to this office on the referral from my sister in law. The doctors are great and I would like to encourage anyone who is looking for a doctors office to give them a try. They have a diverse group of doctors so maybe you can speak to a couple of them and pair up with the doctor you feel most comfortable with. They believe in vaccinations, so if you dont, you can explain that from the beginning.

When I moved to Miami 16 years ago, I had a one year old. My first pediatrician was a nightmare. She was rude and rough with my child, and impatient if the visit took over 5 minutes. God forbid asking any questions. When my second daughter was born, I contacted KBP on recommendation. Early one morning Dr. Keller visited me and my newborn daughter in the hospital. Compared to the other pediatrician, it was like an angel had come to check on my daughter. She was gentle, caring and genuine. That was almost 15 years ago, and I have had nothing but good experiences at this place. Every doctor has his or her own style, and there are enough of them to find one that fits you and your child. Every doctor is well-educated and follows current emerging research. This is a traditional place. If you value real, peer reviewed research practices then you will be comfortable here. If you want someone to burn incense over your child instead of giving a polio vaccine, then go somewhere else.

I highly reccomend all the Pediatricians at Kings Bay Pediatrics, the staff and nurses are very caring and always there when you need them. I like the fact that they only have registered nurses. I feel very comfortable with all the doctors and the care they give to my children.

I decided to use Kings Bay Pediatrics on the referral of both a friend who was once a patient, and who now brings her own 3 children there, as well as my cousin who was a childhood patient there and is now a pediatrician herself. I have been very pleased with their treatment and care of both my children. They diagnosed my infant's torticollis very early, enabling him to get physical therapy early to correct the matter. The nurses and doctors are always nice to both me and my children. They answer my questions, no matter how silly, without making me feel stupid. They have a sick side and a well side, which is great since when I bring my kids in for well visits, I don't want them exposed to the sick children. They do not over-schedule patients and the waiting times are low. They practice traditional medicine, not alternative methods. They believe, as I do, that childhood vaccines are necessary. However, they will not vaccinate if your child is sick, they will wait. If you are looking for alternative medicinal approaches, or do not want to vaccinate your child, this may not be the right fit for you. The few times I have had to reach someone after hours, I get a call back within 10 minutes. My 4 year old loves one particular doctor, and will wave towards the office and yell hello when we drive by.

I needed a pediatrician relatively closely to where I live, and so I tried this office. Big Mistake! I'm a protective mother, although not overly, and so I research everything from vaccinations, to foods, to anything that will affect my toddler's health (doesn't every mother?). I have also used both conventional (antibiotics/prescriptions) and alternative forms of medicine (herbs, chiropractic care, midwidery) to provide for my child.

Please understand that I am only rating 1 nurse and 1 doctor in particular at this facility. I never write reviews, but people like myself, who are new to Miami, aren't necessarily familiar with most doctors and don't have a community of people who are able to make recommendations. It truly is a personal experience- it was just that this was the worst experience I have ever encountered at a physician's office and felt compelled to warn others before they try out this office.

Cons:
1. Very poor bedside manner.

2.They will bully you if your opinions on vaccinations, vitamin c, or echinacea differ from their own ( since it was my first visit who knows what else). I have utilized my right to not vaccinate at this time- I was told by both the nurse and the md that this probably wouldn't be the place for me in a very rude manner. The bullying then began on why I was wrong. I was not there for a wellness check- I had a sick son who needed antibiotics. Even though I am in my 30's, the doctor said that "kids of my generation don't understand." Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a professional woman with a family and don't need a condescending attitude about my belief systems.

3. Rough handling of my child. IE. My son wouldn't sit still to have his measurements taken, so the nurse forced him down on the table holding him still by placing pressure against his neck!

The list goes on...but the fact is, if your opinions differ in ANY way, you may not be treated with respect and should seek help elsewhere.

Pros: plenty of parking, clean, two separate rooms for sick/well children, low waiting time

Cons: Very poor beside manner, bullying tactics deployed if their opinion doesn't coincide with your own, disrespectful, rough handling of child
