This apartment complex is run by absolute heartless slumlords.

My boyfriend moved in here around January 10th of this year and it's been problems since the beginning, such as a serious bed bug problem. When the infestation was reported, my boyfriend was given a HUGE list of tasks he needed to complete prior to extermination, which was scheduled less than 24 hours in advance. Because of this, he was forced to miss work. And spend over $15 in laundry fees at an unsecured ghetto laundromat at the complex, where recently, over $150 of my undergarments were stolen.

When we went to the office to complain about all of these facts, we were at first under the impression that we were talking to the property manager. But apparently the manager, Martha, is an elusive ninja whom he has yet to encounter. Instead we were stuck with Kathy, a friendly enough woman who for some reason had an aversion to looking me in the eye when I asked for the truth. HILARIOUS. When we asked whether or not Camden Bay Pointe would pay for his time missed from work, they scoffed and said "anyone can rearrange their schedule. I do it all the time." So I guess that means they don't want their rent, since he and myself have missed a lot of work since being bitten by these things.

Creepy little bloodsucking pests that crawled down from the ceiling, and feasted on us while we slept for who knows how long until we started realizing that something was going on. And when we bring up these bugs to leasing they immediately deny any and all accountability and say it must have been something WE picked up.

Let me paint you a picture of the lovely Camden Bay Pointe, friends....There are Audis in the parking lot on aftermarket rims being driven by people that look like they're fresh out of high school (drug dealers or rich people? YOU DECIDE!). There is a girl that wanders to and from the corner with her sloppy boobs hanging out of her shirt whilst arguing with a dude twice her age (Hooker or a nice young lady arguing with her dad? YOU DECIDE!). Not to mention the fabulous trio (at least) of people that moved below him, with at least one person sleeping on the floor alongside a Siberian Husky and a Rottweiler that they like to walk at 3am sans leashes.

Yes, sure....Of course these bugs that only recently appeared and that are coming from the ceiling of a previously infested unit can't possibly be Camden's fault. But the thing is, they are. Camden is absolutely, without a doubt, at fault for running a dirty complex. After our extermination, they informed my boyfriend that they would not be notifying nor fumigating neighboring units. Once again, because I DID MY HOMEWORK, I called other pest control companies. Each one completely choked and balked when they heard my story. Turns out bed bugs are a public health risk, and it is recommended that multi-unit dwellings be thoroughly treated. That means that Camden done effed up, because these bugs WILL come back. It's not a matter if IF, it's WHEN. And judging from the fact that my boyfriend has 2 new bites on him, they pretty much never went away. All because Camden Bay Pointe wants to continue to make money and not spend a dime to give their residents the quality of life as promised by Florida Law.

It gets better, turns out there is mold growing SOMEWHERE in this apartment. When he told the nice folks at leasing about it, they sent maintenance who told us it was "just mildew." And they sprayed the air conditioning vent. But guess what? Results of a store bought mold test kit say otherwise.

Yet they still deny any accountability. So the only real option is to contact local news and the HUD/Tenant's Right Association of Florida. I know getting this complex shut down is a lot to ask, but I'd be happy if they let him out of his lease without fault since his entire life has been turned upside down since moving here. All because it was about $60 less than the competitors.

Pros: none

Cons: bed bugs, mold, crime

.

Me and a buddy were wanting to move into the area because we are going to be attending HCC. After searching for quite some time, we ran across this place. Friendly staff and got a really great deal...happy with everything but when we saw the apartment, it still needed a little work. We move in next week so hopefully they should have some stuff fixed or i might be re-writing this review...haha
