Today, Oct. 1, 2008, I brought my 97 years old father for his 3:15 appointment. Upon arrival my father was chilled. We requested a blanket, towel, or anything to cover him up. They refused this request. Then it turned out that his appointment was actually the previous day. A week prior they called and confirmed the wrong date. Mistakes happen, but no one was concerned enough to inquire about his missed appointment. So, we showed up today with no appointment. I spoke with the apparent office manager, Ellen, who wanted to know when, and why my father started coming to this practice. When I started to briefly inform her, she ignored me, and walked away. Shortly after, she offered to see my father 2 hours later. When I reiterated the above concerns, she attempted to trivialize the issues. We left, unseen, with no intention of returning. When we requested a referral to another medical group, they refused.

My mother of 82 yrs was under care from Dr. Perrez for years. Then he left and Janine McCaffrey APRN took over her case. At first I was concerned that mom was not seeing a doctor although mom was impressed with the thoroughness Janine showed in reviewing her situation and revising her treatments. But after visiting the clinic with mom, I found Janine very attentive and personable with mom. She reviewed her file, talked to mom about any and all symptoms or concerns she had. Then she took the time to explain everything to me. I've found that doctors most often describe what's happening in their terms without stopping to explain it lay terms.

Upon examination, Janine became concerned about some new visible symptons mom had. She consulted with Dr. Travnicek and referred us to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for some tests since it was a Friday afternoon.

Outcome was that SMH doctors found cirrhosis of the liver to cause mom symptoms. Her treatment was revised by a liver specialist after additional tests and observation. Mom was released on the following Monday.

Bottom line is that the interest that Janine showed in treating mom caught a serious condition in time to be treated quickly and safely. We will continue to putting our faith in their care.

Pros: Convenient location, associated with SMH doctors, appt usually on time.

Cons: Don't always see a doctor.

The building may be beautiful but the people inside it are not! The nurse, April and office manager Jeannie are THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL people i have ever encountered and i have been in the medical field for 20 years. DO NOT TRUST THEM
