driving in from bird road I didn't expect the modern art-deco appeal of the interior and then walking into the spa when the door closes behind you it's like you're in a different place. The salon and spa coexist but each have a different ambience appropriate for the service.

I went in without an appointment searching for a miracle because my head was full of oil-based paint (long story)...I had to be somewhere within 2 hours!
They graciously squeezed me in and performed a product cocktail until they got my hair free of paint.
Then they left this hair treatment on my head and since it was going to be on about half an hour I slipped into the spa for a skin care treatment (they have YonKa which I highly recommend so that convinced me to try their facial care).

I left with silky soft, paint free hair and added a new hair cut (owner did it and it was great, but her head stylist seemed to be very good with the highlights and scissors too). The facial was relaxing and the lady's hands worked wonders (the products I already knew were good).

They also have a dietitian on staff and they gave me a discount card to come back and check out the nutrition services. Apparently wellness matters at this place because the body wraps are organic and fruit-based, they have environment friendly hair products (also organic options for those who are into that) and even PET hair products (yes for your pets AKA dog). And prices are fair with weekly specials and coupons for returning customers.

I'll definitely be back...hopefully without another emergency! But the best part I was in and out within the two hours I was limited to.

(FYI they're nice about you choosing who you want to work your hair...I asked for the owner, Rebeca and she was happy to be my stylist. Like I said the other ladey, I think her name was Gisela seemed good too and the client that was with her told me she was a regular).

Pros: customer service, knowledge and sincerity, their spa

Cons: spa services usually need pre-booking

I did not have a positive experience at this salon. I went in to try and change up my hair a little and I decided to go with light brown highlights. I'm a dark brunnett and only wanted a subtle change. The lady who was working on my highlights seemed to be doing a good job until she peeled back the foil and revealed these icy blonde highlights! I wanted to die. I thought the contrast was too obvious, and it was not what I had asked for. I specifically told her I DID NOT want to end up with blonde highlights. She knew she made a mistake and tried to make me feel better by telling me that it would look different once I styled it. Its true, it did change but I was still unhappy. Afraid that they would mess my hair up even further I paid, but not without letting the lady know that I was not totally won over this "makeover."

I paid around $150 and do not feel I got my money's worth. At first glance the salon appears trendy and professional. But you'll see its not different from the average salon around the corner.

Also, days before my hair disaster I went in to get my eyebrows waxed. This lady actually did an excellent job. But only the first time; because on every other one of my visits I would sometimes leave satisfied with my eyebrows, and sometimes not. My results, it seemed, depended much on her attitude at the time.

I refuse to spend any more of my money on a salon who is not consistant in performance. Their prices are at the same level as some other high-end salons, but the results (as I said) were no different from the kind I have experienced at other mickey-mouse salons. Finding a good salon can be really difficult. Hopefully this helps someone who like me, is just trying to find their way.

Pros: The look of the salon

Cons: Stylists, Atmosphere, Waxing, Prices
