The Muvico chain is unique in America -- they are a throwback to the golden age of movie palaces, where the theatres were as much a part of the show, as the films to be watched. Almost all of their locations are themed, and the Muvico Palace 20 in Boca Raton, is no different.

The theme? Utter luxury.

The Palace 20 is unlike any in America, even of comparable purpose. For downstairs you have the usual trappings of a megaplex, with ample concessions and a warren of auditoriums all around, but upstairs, you have the best example of elegant moviewatching -- The Premier.

Entrance to the Premier is only available to over-21 year-olds, and that's because once upstairs, you have access to a full bar of concessions -- including beers, wine, and even champagne. Bogart's, their restaurant, is always packed, and the food is well-prepared and delicious (the Premier burger especially). Alongside the restaurant there are located private sitting rooms, where you can lounge around until your feature starts. There is even a big screen plasma TV in one, in case you want to catch that special sporting event (call ahead to confirm, as they rent out these salons).

The best part of the deal is that if you choose not to dine at the restaurant, you can actually take your food AND alcoholic drinks inside with you to your feature. There you don't have tables, but rather magnificently cushioned red velour seats, some of which are loveseats for that special romantic evening for two.

The entire Premier is geered towards making your stay absolutely private and elegant.

On entering, you are entitled to complimentary valet parking (with validation, don't forget!).

You also have a separate entrance, which if you haven't purchased your tickets online, you can actually do so in person by choosing your seats -- yes, the old-fashioned "booking" system which the megaplex did away with in the 80s.

If you thought the days of the usherette were over, well, they aren't. The smartly uniformed employee will escort you with a torch/flashlight to your seat, and will even help you with your plates, if you are bringing them inside.

The seats are so insulated, the effect is one of utter privacy. The Premier seating is no more than 60 in each of the 6 auditoriums, and since there are no teenagers, and children allowed, it offers a respite from the loud talking of other movie theatres -- bliss!

A good tip for couples with older children who want to have a "family night" out but still make it special for mother/father, is for the parents to dine, then watch a movie at the Premier, whilst the teenagers can watch the same movie downstairs, separated by the balcony. It's a handy compromise.

The Premier is located on the second floor, so it in effect is the balcony: another old-fashioned touch not often seen anymore. Below, the regular viewers are watching the same picture you are, on the same enormous screen, but your experience is so much better than theirs in terms of convenience, that it's impossible not to feel pampered.

I know many other establishments are similar, but I've been to a few around the world, including the Alamo in Texas and El Capitan in LA, and none possibly compare to the Muvico Palace 20.

The Muvico chain offers complimentary child-minding in a clean, safe room downstairs (see uploaded photo). That's 20 or more dollars saved on babysitting right there, and you don't even have to go to the Premier for it -- the regular moviegoers are entitled to its services too.

Are there negatives? Of course. The price is very steep. Double the regular ticket, it can range from 18 to 21 dollars, depending on booking and time, not including dining, tips, etc.

Parking can also be chaotic on Fri-Sun nights, so factor in 30 minutes for that.

The food even downstairs is at a premium cost, with a simple pizza setting you back 8 dollars.

But even given all these exorbitant frills, there is no finer place in these United States to watch a film, than in the Muvico Palace 20.

I only keep hoping they open up a themed version in Miami proper, but every time they've planned one (including a Graeco-Roman version in Kendall), it's fallen through.

This the acme of movie-watching, and you will not regret your visit to this movie palace.

PROS: Luxury. Amenities. Range of movies. Polite staff.
CONS: Overly crowded on weekends. Very very pricey.

The site for Muvico is that there should be designation which movies are showing at Bogarts. Now, the only way to find out is to call the box office.

Nice location, rooms are large and screens are enormous. The mood at that place is also pretty nice. It does get packed during weekends, but it's very pleasant to go during the week if possible. Food is ridiculously expensive there, though - but it's like that at most places, anyway. You can also buy tickets online, but they'll charge you a fee if you do that, which is the reason it only gets 4 stars from me.

I have to say that this movie theatre is unsurpassed in fine dining, cleanliness, respect of the customer, and just old = fashioned movie watching at its best- walking into the place, the clerks are dressed in outfits that are like something out of Disneyworld
Clean, neat, polite, and helpful;. If you want to enjoy just a movie in the downstairs, you can. And the concession stand is wonderful!!!! many things to choose from, hot, delicious, and wants to make you go back for more- (isn't that what it's designed to do anyway?)
If its to impress that little lady, mom or dad, the boss, or that boyfriend, go to the premier level where there is Bogarts fine dining
"Fine DIning" at it's best!!! I am a chef and served many a meal in my time. I am NOT a cook. As a chef, I know my wines, environments, and mostly, the foods and preparation needed for a spectacular presentation.
No waiting, (or a few minutes) - go to the bar- !!!
then the food. Wow!!! Fabulous selections in the menu. Wines and beers from near and far, popcorn for the movie, and everything in between
The other Movieco theatres need to see this one - they need to copy the layout, and full food menus-

And, the Special thing - you do not need to eat the food in the restraunt ( which by the way, is like walking into an MGM or Disney movie-set) but you can ask to be served in the balcony theatres in your velvet couches!!!! Yep - a white cloth is placed over the armchair sie and the dinner, piping HOT, is brought in, and served with all the trimmings - (real silverware) and wine, and real napkins- not paper ones.

Want to impress, You CAN! Everytime i go there, and its a lot, I gues I am spoiled there, as nothing else, except off Broadway, can compare!
It's a secret NOW EXPOSED - and NO, I do not work for them! I am a loyal customer and promoter of something that i found is a gem in this world of ours!

Pros: A fantastic presentation and enjoyable time out! Love the Valet Parking too!

Cons: Parking is hard to use if you are too cheap to pay 5 bucks for the valet- It ihas a lot of cinemas running at the same time- but you have to walk a distance and might get rained on if you stay "cheap"
